Minamoto Clan [Finished] Vide
PostSubject: Minamoto Clan [Finished] Minamoto Clan [Finished] EmptyThu 23 Jan 2014, 1:16 am

Clan Name: Minamoto (Origin)
Location: Land of Iron
Living among the people of the land of iron, the Minamoto clan has a small town built around a temple of Hachiman, the deity worshiped by their clan. As is a tradition of the clan and the land of iron, those of the Minamoto become Samurai rather than shinobi, most staying in the land of iron to protect their clan and the temple-town, though some choose to join a village and defend it, trying to maintain the military balance of the villages. There are even some who take an entirely different route, becoming hunters that slay demonic and evil entities by using their divine power.
Signature Traits:
Golden Chakra:
As a result of their bloodline, every member of the Minamoto clan has a bright golden chakra color that sets them apart from all the other shinobi in the world. Though the power they wield is the same as chakra, it is a form that has been purified of all traces of demonic energy. Believing that chakra comes from the primordial demon known as the Juubi, the followers of Hachiman had their chakra cleansed and altered, turning them into potent warriors that protect the balance in the world, keep people safe from demonic entities and evil spirits and prove to the world that Samurai are more powerful than any shinobi foolish enough to try and fight them. Stronger Minamoto can even have the image of Hachiman manifest around them in the form of their own chakra, scaring demons and spirits away and inspiring their comrades to strengthen their resolve in battle. Due to this special chakra, Minamoto do not possess more than one elemental nature, though this is not a setback for the powerful Samurai.

Chosen of the War God:
Due to the many sacrifices the clan made for the temple they served, their deity Hachiman has bestowed upon them the power of their bloodline. The power they have been given allows them to create defensive barriers that protect them from Ninjutsu, as well as the power of demons. Their special chakra allows them to perform Ninjutsu similar to the shinobi, though it also allows them to counter them. The most pure members of the Minamoto clan choose to only use their own bloodline and physical mastery, training themselves to counter all forms of ninjutsu, overpower shinobi and destroy demonic beings and creations. Knowing what they are meant to do with their power, these Minamoto are among the strongest samurai in the world. It is for this reason that they are well versed in the art of weaponry and sealing. Those that do wish to become Shinobi will have their powers limited, though still have access to most of their powers.

Vanquishers of Evil:
The Minamoto are born with a very strong sense of duty and all have high morals. As such, most are dedicated to the protection of their respectful village and often join up with the Protective Service Squads, for this is the place where their abilities are best put to use. Defending that which they need to protect with their lives, a Minamoto clan member is at his strongest when they have something to protect, though this is only partially the case. When they face an enemy that threatens their family, loved ones or the things they are sworn to protect, they are filled with zeal, pushing themselves beyond their limits in order to ensure the death of this person or creature. Utterly destroying not only enemy shinobi, they highly distrust demonic entities such as the tailed beasts, believing that they are a blight upon the world that needs to be eradicated.

Samurai:
Having originated in the land of iron, the members of the Minamoto clan are all trained in the art of the Samurai, rather than becoming Shinobi. Believing that the common Shinobi has no honor, they believe that through honorable combat, Hachiman, the god of war will continue to bless them and their clan with the power they possess. They never take the blessing of Hachiman for granted, even though the power has been fused into their bloodline and can only be removed by the hand of god himself. Due to their purified chakra, the techniques they perform that are based around chakra are cleansed of all demonic power. Through this, the samurai can perform sealing techniques and weaponry techniques that are infused with chakra that is extremely harmful to demons and spirits, while they can counter the techniques of common shinobi through Iaijutsu.

Weaponry:
As dictated by the code of the Minamoto Samurai, every new Samurai receives a Minamoto Katana and a Kusari-Fundo, these being the weapons they are required to master over the course of their life. As they get stronger, they will be allowed to use the Hachiman Manrikigusari, which is an honor for any member of the Minamoto clan, as well as their family. What is special about the Minamoto Katana is that the sword evolves along with the user, starting to match their strengths and weaknesses, becoming a Meito, or legendary sword if the wielder lives that long. These swords only function for their wielder, and when their wielder dies, the sword will revert back into a normal katana that is picked up by the clan and handed down to the next Samurai that is ready to take up their own sword. Some of the Minamoto Katana are more than a hundred years old. It is for this reason that every member of the Minamoto clan must have Weaponry as their first specialization.

Kekkei Genkai:
Divine Protection:
The members of the Minamoto clan are the followers of the god of war, having special chakra, a gift from Hachiman, the god of war. It is through the powers they have been granted that they can materialize a golden chakra to act as armor that can protect them on a moments notice to keep themselves from being assassinated by Shinobi. While their protective abilities are something many villages would love to have around, it is not until the Minamoto clan Samurai reaches it's peek that they become an instrument of the god of war. Learning how to create a spectral armor and sword, they become strong enough to fight a Jinchuuriki on equal terms, having more than a fair chance at taking them down, especially if they get the drop on them early, sealing their Bijuu chakra and keeping them from accessing it due to the divine intervention that keeps the beast locked inside of the user. When at their strongest, even a Bijuu might find them to be a nuisance.

History:
Having spent many lifetimes in the country now known as the land of iron, the members of the Minamoto have not become a part of the warring clan era, rather remaining in their temple-town, protecting the temple of Hachiman and spending their lives as honest Samurai. Not choosing any sides with anyone, the only time they got into action was when someone was trying to steal from their temple, tried to kill their people or simply wanted to take their home from them to act as a place to rest before going back to the war. The Minamoto knew that if they gave any group of shinobi a moment to rest in their settlement, another group would see it as an act of aggression towards them, this being the reason why they always tried their hardest not to let anyone in. Honorable as they were, it was often considered inhumane to turn people away from their settlement without aiding them, though they had their own survival to think about as well.

When a group of wounded men and woman from the Senju clan came to their home and asked for help, they were initially turned, though a single Samurai going by the name of Nobukado chose to speak for them, allowing them to enter his home and rest there until they could heal their wounds. Through this act, they became considered as enemies by various other shinobi clans. Once the Senju thanked them for their hospitality, these other clans often launched raids on the town of the Minamoto, trying to kill as many as possible while trying to desecrate the temple of Hachiman. Fending off most of the clans with relative ease, eventually, the day came when they faced the renowned Uchiha clan, the ones that were strong enough to be considered to be equals to the Senju. They were however, not nearly as honorable as the Senju, killing woman and children just to enrage them, trying to make them lose their focus and increase their odds of losing. Losing as many lives as they took, the Uchiha and Minamoto did not quit their clashes on regular terms.

It was thanks to the Senju clan returning that the Uchiha were forced out of the land of iron and out of their settlement. When the Senju fought the Uchiha clan again, they eventually quit harassing the Minamoto clan entirely, though the Minamoto would never forget what they had done to them. While the Senju helped them rebuild their home and their temple, there were a lot of people who believed Nobukado had made a mistake when he invited in the wounded clan. It was thanks to this act of kindness, as well as their unwavering loyalty and protection of the clan of Hachiman that he bestowed Nobukado with his blessing, the power to counter foul Ninjutsu and other powers received from the demonic being known as the Juubi. His power was the exact opposite of chakra, for his came from a divine being, rather than a demonic being. As such, Nobukado was the origin of the Minamoto clan's bloodline. Ever since the day he gained these powers, Nobukado's children and their children were all born with the same powers that had been bestowed upon him.

After their battles with many clans, it seemed that the world had even more tests for them when a massive fox attacked the shrine. Recognizing this to be the nine tailed fox, one of the tailed beasts, the Minamoto clan fought the beast, though many lost their life in pushing it out of the town. Thanks to Nobukado himself, the first of the Minamoto that had been blessed by Hachiman, the true power of their clan was shown when he, at the cost of his own life, created a force devastating enough to catch the already weakened demon off-guard, killing it upon impact. Knowing that a tailed beast would only be dead for a few years before it would re-emerge from the dimension it came from, it was still a large victory for the clan, though there would be no celebration, for they had lost too many in the process. For the clan, it was a grim reminder of the might of demons, though it also strengthened their faith and their resolve, pushing them to become even stronger while creating ways to defeat not only shinobi, but even the Bijuu themselves.

Through the years, the expertise of the Minamoto has often been used to capture tailed beasts, and they are arguable the origin of the sealing techniques that are being used to create Jinchuuriki, though the concept of it has been raped from locking a demon in another dimension to sealing them inside of a living being. Having made various means of sealing traps, anti-demon weaponry and equipment and creating forms of swordsmanship that counter the use of Ninjutsu, the Minamoto have been given the name "Subeta no Hachiman". Roughly translating to Sword of Hachiman, they are the ones that carry out his work by cleansing the world of evil, teaching others the ways of the samurai and protecting those that need it.

Present Day:
These days, the Minamoto clan still dwells in the land of iron, defending their temple and training those that are willing to learn in the art of the Samurai or the art of blacksmithing. Continuing to further their own mastery, the current Minamoto have become many times stronger and much more cunning than those of the old days. Engineering their own devices and forms of weaponry, forms of sealing and purging evil, the Minamoto are still not very trusting towards Shinobi or Jinchuuriki, though they have become a lot more controlled, allowing them to do as they please as long as this does not go against their beliefs or their vow as a Samurai of the Minamoto. Living in a world where the gods don't hold as much power as they used to, they still follow the will of Hachiman and seek to keep his favor. Most of them simply do this by sticking around their temple and their family, this being the majority of the clan.

Those that have different goals in life leave their home in the land of iron, becoming warriors that seek to eradicate evil from the world by becoming a wandering enemy of all the things that go bump in the night. They are the true warriors of the light, butchers of evil and the ones that bring the wicked their absolution. They are also much less kind and welcoming than the main branch of the clan, being lone wolves that seek out their target, destroy them and start looking for their next target.

First of all I just want to say that it's not acceptable to use a God as a short-cut to gain power. By simply saying "the God gave them that power and therefore they are awesome like that", you aren't giving us any facts on why exactly they are like they are. We don't allow any 'mythical beings' on this site (safe for the Tailed Beasts) and we certainly don't use Gods to give powers to people or clans. Talking about demons and spirits and gods isn't acceptable, but we do allow such talk if it is all about legends but not facts. If you'd say "it is believed that the God of war gave them...etc." and then gave us the facts and the reasons WHY they have the ability they have, then that's fine.

As to the swords that grow with the wielder, that just sounds like a Bleach ability to me. o.O We generally have a pretty strict ruling on our weapons here, but perhaps some other staff can find it fair.

The swords of Weaponry users already grow with them. First they have a C ranked, powerless sword. When they become B ranked? their sword can suddenly channel fire, lightning or wind or increase itself in length, make itself heavier or lighter, you name it. I gave this an IC validity, because people who are Weaponry based will always have a weapon that levels up with them, in a manner of speech. This way, the IC and the OOC part of all this has been cleared out.

I'd like to settle this before i'll get into the other stuff about the powers.

We buy new swords when we rank up, or so I see the system here. A C rank sword doesn't auto rank up on US. We apply for higher ranked swords and get rid of the old ones.

Mhm, I know that, though that has to be done with these swords too. They don't auto-rank up, which is something I may need to actually write down there. As far as it goes, it just sounded like a cool thing to do to have every new Samurai use a sword that becomes a Meito "Legendary sword" over the years. All it is now really is IC justification for a powerless sword suddenly becoming one with abilities. OOC wise, it's normal, but IC wise, a sword suddenly getting abilities would be considered weird xD
