Let Us All Unite

Humanity has had so much potential to be great, do good, and bring a piece of heaven to this green earth. At times, we tap into this potential for brief moments and shine a bright light onto our ego. We brand ourselves with our successes and hold on to the memory of that light telling ourselves that we are all still shining.

But the truth is that the majority of human history is dark and written in blood shed. Just as we have potential to do the greatest good, we are also holders of ultimate evil. Even the purest soul carries a hint of darkness just as ever villain maintains a shred of light.

I believe that the light will shine again, even in our war torn world. Even when the people of nations can not trust those sworn to protect them. Even when people still squabble over petty illusions like race or money. The only ingredient required for that light is that we, as a species, intend and desire to shine it. We are born of light. Of light, and stars, and a universe so vast it exceeds imagination. The recipe for greatness isn't just a fluke, it is encoded into our very DNA.

I share this video now as it touched me deeply when I first saw it years ago. When I noticed it posted again recently, I decided to share it in case it provides hope to any of you who needs it as it did for me so long ago.

It shames me to say I've never seen the entire film myself before. Just never found the time. Perhaps that's what I'll do this weekend.

I've never seen the movie either but a buddy showed me this speech. Let's fight and kill to create a world without fighting and killing. Makes sense. Razz

What do you expect from what was essentially anti-nazi propaganda at the time? I feel like the more important message is just to not let people ruling over you do wrong and then convince you that you should do wrong to others as well. Corruption is everywhere, but the only thing required to stop it is that everyone stops playing along. Our problem as a species imho is that we let ourselves live in denial all the time as if that were an okay thing. It is an important part of who we are, but all things in moderation. Human denial runs so deep we're near fatal over dosage sometimes. Sometimes rousing speeches like this are all someone needs to get a snap back into reality.
