Welcome to Ultimate Shinobi's 2014 Winter Genin Tournament! We're excited to finally bring you something like this, and are thrilled by the amount of people that showed an interest and signed up for this event.

All good contests need rules, right?

• In the interest of keeping the tournament moving, the 72 hours rule will be more strictly enforced. If a combatant fails to post within 72 hours, they automatically forfeit.
  
• This is a no-kill tournament. For all intents and purposes, you may roleplay as if you are actually going to kill your opponent (if you wish). Due to the hybrid OOC/IC context of the tournament, any lethal blow will be nullified.If failure to post might put a combatant's life in danger, they are assumed to have fainted and an NPC (to be played by the battle mod) will jump in and remove them from any immediate danger.
  
• Be sure to re-familiarize yourself with the Combat Rules, just to be safe.
  
• Should be noted that all battles will be IC.
  
• Any conflicts that arise in terms of whether an attack is GM or if there is any question of MG, then please contact your combat mod immediately. The verdict will be posted in the topic itself and the decision will be final.
  
• The winners of the Preliminary matches are allowed to purchase items or techinques using the funds outside of the tournament. You are not allowed to spend the funds you recieved when you won.
  
• After Round One, no one is allowed to use any type of funds (tournament or not) to purchase any kind of additional item or technique. If you are writing a mission or social topic that requires the use of a technique you don't already have, please message a moderator with the details surrounding said thread. Even if you are granted permission to use the item or jutsu, it will be flagged. Using the technique results in an automatic disqualifiation - and for breaking the rules you will not recieve the 15 EXP for a loss.
  

In order to streamline the tournament's fights, the designated battle mod will create the thread, announcing the combatants and re-iterating the rules as well as the prize for winning that specific fight. After that, the posting order is only determined by whoever posts first. Nobody other than the two combatants will be allowed to post in these threads.

The initial fight match-ups will be posted at the bottom of this thread, followed by a link to their respective "combat area".

Matches will have a single judge system. This means that every single match can start on its own when the participants are ready. There will be different stages, and the preliminary round will take place at the same location as the first round. You will make a single introduction post each and jounin proctor will start the match.  The only one watching is the Jounin proctor. Please pay attention to the details of the stage as well:

Preliminary Stage:

35mX35m stage, participants will start at the middle of the stage and are 5m across from one another. This means that they are standing on a single 'gridblock' with a line between them. The combatants will face west and east, and the statue of the hand seal is on the north and south ends of the stage. There is no elevated balcony for people to watch. The entire room is made of concrete except for the statue, which is made of an extremely hardened stone which does not break easily.

Second stage (Rounds 1 and 2):

A circular stage with a 150m radius, this stage dwarfs round 1. The participants will start at the center point, five meters across from one another with the center point directly in between them. There are trees all around at the ends of the arena (5m away from the edge). The time of day is high noon, putting the sun directly above the center point. It should as be noted that Naruto-esque uppercuts are highly unrealistic without the aid of Doton techniques or other rare, but viable means.

Final Stage:

The final stage takes place on a bridge with mirroring posts on either side. The width of the bridge is ten meters, while the length of the bridge is seventy. Opponents start at the center (35m), five meters away from each other with the center point being between them. Either side has an 100m drop leading to a dried river with jagged rocks below. The bridge is made of hardened stone and is extremely tough to destroy.

As the tournament has concluded, we thank all of our participants for posting, and we would like to give everyone an extra reward just for signing up and being a good sport, win or lose. Everyone will receive 10 points, which will go to any area they choose. For instance if you choose MP, they will go to your MP and AF, vice versa with your EXP.
