Name: Netsu Kenshin Nickname: Age: 14 Gender: Male Appearance: Due to Kenshin's born sickness and his clan's natural fragile nature Kenshin appears to be little more then a twig with arms and legs. Due to his frail nature Kenshin struggles to stay warm so he makes up for this by wearing thick clothes with a warm thick layer of pants shirt combo with a large warm hoodie over the outfit to keep him warm. He also augments his attire by wearing a puppet over top his clothing to hide his true appearance and frail nature. Due to his strategy of making it hard to distinguish himself from his puppets he also wears a pair of gloves that resemble his puppets hands and wears brown boots to resemble his puppets feet to add to the illusions. Forehead Protector: The marker of the protector lies between the two filters of his gasmask Personality:Kenshin is a determined individual who chooses to draw strength from his skills rather then his weaknesses. Since he detests pity for his condition he does go through great strides to hide his true form. He takes both pride and joy in what he considers his families art so finds training his skills very enjoyable. Because of his mask and puppets he might accidentally come off as cold or unfeeling as both cover up his facial expressions. He also might come off a bit harsh as he believes that since he can strive even with his harsh physical limits that someone with a healthy body should be able to the same things as himself. He also developed a love of the theater thanks to his mothers hobbies and his own he has memorized many plays by heart and can recite lines for story telling as well as using quips for moments in his life a habit he and his mother share. THE NINJA. Origin: Kenshin was born in the village of Kaminari no Kuni Affiliation: Kumo Rank: Genin Specialities: Puppetry: Genjutsu Elemental Affinities: Suiton Fuuton Combat Style: Kenshin treats battles the same way that he treats a perfomance. It becomes his job to not only convince his audience to believe that the puppet is alive but also to forget all about the person pulling the strings. He makes heavy use of Genjutsu and his family skills to manage this having a variety of techniques to try and scare and terrify his opponents in hopes that a terrified opponent will make more mistakes. His puppets however are also designed to follow up his illusions with dangerous assaults. The drawback to his style is that while he takes tremendous effort to hide himself from his opponents if discovered he first relies on trickery to keep himself safe. If all else fails he is forced to fight more defensively using his puppets.
Special Characteristics: Name: One-Handed Seals Rank: C Type: Physical Restrictions: This cannot be used as a way to perform two jutsu at the same time. Description: the ninja discovers a unique talent which allows them to mix chakra by performing seals with only one hand. With an ability such as this the ninja can fight while also performing jutsu, delivering surprise attacks to their enemies. Since those who can perform one-handed seals are naturally good at what their talents, they are even capable of performing hand seals behind themselves, leaving the enemy oblivious to the ninja's next attack.
Name: Writer Rank: C Type: Social Based Description: With a love for the theater Kenshin often spends time writing his own plays and performances including his puppets as the main characters in many of them. Affliction Name: Severe asthma Rank: B Range: Personal Description: Without his gasmask Kenshin cannot breath effectively and will lapse into brutal coughing fits. Extended exposure will cause him to run out of air entirely and pass out leading to death if his mask isnt replaced. Or some other form of airfilter is placed over his mouth. Long-Term Effects: Leads to a weakened body due to lack of oxygen in his blood. Intense physical struggles can cause him to lapse into coughing.
THE BACKGROUND. History: Kenshin almost didn't survive his birth due to a simple genetic deficiency his lungs simply weren't developed enough to work properly. So from birth his mother had a hard time dealing with her baby son, most activities that a child should do Kenshin had to miss out on even eating was a chore for him. Over the years the only thing that seemed to change was that Kenshin needed a bigger and bigger gas mask in order to breath. Since Kenshin was unable to play and go outside like other children his mother did her best to make up for it by telling him stories often accompanying her performances with her puppets to try and entertain him. From this Kenshin developed a love for the arts and while other kids would play in the park Kenshin would beg to be taken to the theater.
When he reached an age in which his depression over not being able to join other children in play his mother introduced him to his families tradition of puppetry. She had feared her sons sickness would influence him but Kenshin took to puppetry like a fish to water. Impressed she taught him the secrets of their clan's puppets and how to channel other techniques through them. With these skills she agreed after much insisting to let her son go to ninja academy and start his lessons. But as he went through school he grew frustrated, all he got from his classmates and teachers was pity despite his skills. So after a time and with his mothers help he fashioned a puppet he could wear ontop of his clothing, completely concealing himself from his fellow students.
With his new identity in place Kenshin devoted himself to the character, creating a personality that reflected the puppets design. His first puppet focuses on Kenshin's love of a good horror story and is named "Kyōfu" (Terror). After the puppets completion he simply refused to take it off and would eat sleep and go to school all while wearing the puppet overtop his own clothing. Resulting in his students not truly forgetting about Kenshin's sickness but making him hard to approach to express their pity over it.
This caused some slight friction at home because Kenshin simply refused to ever remove the puppet from his body. While his mother empathized with his fragile body she tried to explain that she loved her son and didn't like that he was trying so hard to cover his face and weakness from others. So he agreed that when at home he would take the puppet off at family meals. But this was done under secret as he still wished to hide his weakness from others.
Using his puppet and his family skills Kenshin has managed to hide his true frail body from his fellow students, but of course teachers and ninja's of higher rank are aware of the man behind the mask.
Roleplay Sample:
Kenshin, now at the age of five was sitting on a chair staring out the window out into the town, occasionally catching sight of a child his age running around and laughing and he lets out a heavy sigh which thanks to mask around his mouth echoes quite nicely getting the attention of his mother. "Day dreaming again?" She asks with a small smile as her son turns his bright blue eyes to her. "I just wanna go out and play mom" he mumbles kicking his feet and looking down at the table. But they both knew that sort of play was just not possible for his body. Even though kids could hardly be called built at their young age Kenshin resembled little more then a twig, his limbs frail and delicate and he was wrapped up in a blanket to keep himself warm even with the sun shining through the window on him. Physical exercise would always send him into a coughing fit and he was barely able to walk from his room to the living room without having a small fit. His mother had been told that due to his sickness his life expectancy was not great and that pushing himself at such a young age could be fatal. His mother chewed on her lip for a moment before grinning and disappearing from the door way, slipping into her room before returning a moment later. "Since you cant play, maybe we could do something else" She offers walking towards him and Kenshin shrugs looking at her before letting out a startled squeak and falling out of his chair. In his panic his breath became ragged and he started to cough only to find his mothers soft arms around him comforting him. "Its ok Its ok" she soothed and slowly his breathing evens out and he glances at the thing she had scared him with. It was a puppet, the exact height and build as his mother, even wearing the same clothes and was eerily similar in all aspects but her face which had a porcelain mask. "What...what is that" he asks a bit nervous but also curious as he held her. "This is what our family is capable of" She explains with a sly grin and as she twitched her fingers the puppet moved and bowed before them. "Wow" He whispers insantly entralled by this new discovering and she chuckled. "Would you like to learn how to use them?" She asks playfully and he nods eagerly.
At the age of ten Kenshin could easily control the small mannequin his mother used to teach him the techniques. But when he gets home from his school he is clearly upset as he tosses his backpack to the ground and plops into his chair, his fingers coming up and the thin blue lines connected from his fingertips to the small toy and it shuddered for a moment before starting to dance its movements slow and graceful. "Rough day?" His mother calls watching him. "All the other kids are too nice to me" he explains and his mothers eyes widen slightly. "Explain?" She says ruffling his hair. "Here let me carry your bag Kenshin, Oh dont worry about memorizing this part Kenshin you cant do taijutsu" he says in a mocking tone as the figures movements become quicker and wilder before he loses it in his frustration and the manequin slumps as the bonds are severed. "They think because of this" He says grabbing his mask to make his point. "That I cant do anything" he grumbles and his mother smiles. "Then you'll need to prove to them that you can do anything they can do" She soothes and rubs his shoulder. "But I cant, I cant run and do taijutsu" he mumbles. "True, but what if they only thought you were doing it?" She asks and he looks at her confused. "How can I trick them? I cant change my body" he points out and his mothers fingers twitch and her puppet walks out of her room. "Like this" it says but as Kenshin glances at it he is transfixed because in his eyes its not a puppet anymore. There are two copys of his mother standing in the room. "How....how are you doing that?" he asks confused but no longer scared. "Did you all our family was capable of was using puppets?" They tease simultaneously. "But you cant do this trick with just any puppet, you'll need your own" She explains and ends the Genjutsu she was using on her son. After the demonstration she takes him to the small workshop room and simply leaves him be to get started.

Name Kyōfu Rank C Appearance Kenshin built his first puppet to be the embodiment of a horror story. This was not done out of trauma or issues but simply being Kenshin's favorite theme of plays and literature. This puppet is also Kenshin's primary appearance as he often hides within it. To manage this the puppet is very human shape but mostly hollow the head being a large smiling skull. Kenshin's own blue eyes shine from inside it giving it a creepy gaze, he can simulate these eyes with his clan techniques. The body while mostly hollow is covered by a large tattered shawl to make it difficult to identify where the puppets body is aside from its hands and legs. During a performance (or battle) Kenshin gives Kyōfu a manic personality full of laughter and enjoyment of causing fear and panic. He is typically the villain in the performance, often pointing out that his stories dont have happy endings. Slot 5: Rotating head 1/2 Slot 6: Rotating head 2/2 Name Kesshi Appearance Kesshi has largely a human form and unlike its brother Kyofu has only a single cloth covering over its shoulders. The puppet has a more indepth face then other puppets which allows Kenshin to portray emotions through him, by moving the eyes and mouth he can create looks of anger determination fear. he body is made of wood with some metal joints for structure and painted in a bleach white not unlike the make up patterns of actors. During a performance (or battle) Kenshin gives Kesshi a determined headstrong attitude and personality. This launcher can be used to send kunai at the opponent at high speeds with great accuracy. Up to 10 kunai can be launched at once, and the launcher can hold up to 50 in total.

The spear is connected to a tether and so can be pulled back into the launcher to be re fired. Designed to stab and hook an opponent tethering them to the puppet.

Name: Bunshin no Jutsu • Clone Technique Rank: E Type: Genjutsu Range: N/A Medium: Optical Element: N/A Description: This technique creates identical clones of the user. However, they hold no actual substance and will disperse upon impact of an attack or contact with an opponent. They cannot disrupt the area around themselves with their movements; won’t kick up dust, crush grass, etc. They are simply optical illusions used to momentarily fool others. Name: Henge no Jutsu • Transformation Technique Rank: E Type: Ninjutsu Range: N/A Element: N/A Description: This technique transforms the user’s appearance to that of another object or person. However, it is not a permanent transformation and a mental image of what they are transformed into. Certain aspects of a ninja will not change merely by transformation, these things may include injuries, tool pocket placements etc. The jutsu will dispel should the user be injured. The user does not gain the properties of their transformation (ie. horse like strength), and may only transform into something ranging between 1/2 of their regular size, to 2x their regular size. Name: Kawarimi no Jutsu • Body Replacement Technique Rank: E Type: Ninjutsu Range: 10 meters Element: N/A Description: After performing a tiger seal, this technique allows the user to alter places in a speedy manner with another nearby object. This is done mere seconds before an attack lands, thus making the attacker believe his or her attack was a success. Whatever object was used to alter places will receive the brunt of the enemy’s attack instead. The object that the user switches with must be preset somewhere else in the thread, meaning that the object must have received specific mention previously in the thread. Chakra Cost: 2
Name: Explosive Tag: Activate Rank: E Type: Fuuinjutsu Range: N/A Element: N/A Description: This technique allows the user to activate an explosive tag they have planted somewhere. Preferably they should be within close to mid range and visible to the user. You cannot activate another persons explosive tags unless your chakra has been channeled into them beforehand. Name: Kai • Release Rank: D Type: Ninjutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m) Element: N/A Description: By stopping the flow of chakra in their body, and then applying an even stronger power to disrupt the flow of the caster's chakra; the user may dispel the effects of a genjutsu. This can also be used on another individual that is stuck in a genjutsu by preforming the necessary hand seal and then touching them, although it consumes half the chakra cost of the Genjutsu. Name: Nawanuke no Jutsu • Escaping Skill Rank: E Type: Ninjutsu Range: N/A Element: N/A Description: This technique allows the user to free themselves should they be tied up. It is extremely basic. Using their physical training, the user will twist and contort their body to loosen their bindings, effectively relieving themselves of the tightness of their bindings and slipping through the restraints. This technique can only be used if the user is of equal or higher rank than their captor. Chakra Cost: 1
Name: Chozou no Jutsu • Storage Technique Rank: E Type: Fuuinjutsu, Supplementary Range: Close (0m - 5m) Element: N/A Description: A simple jutsu that allows a ninja to seal or unseal any item, mostly weapons, from scrolls or from their body. After forming the necessary handsigns, the ninja will seal the item into a scroll etc. Scrolls can also be used as ammunition for other weapons or have other seals inside of them, which expands the number of potential tricks a shinobi can use. The items themselves are unaffected by time. Ninjutsu can also be stored in scrolls, to be released when the scroll is opened, but require another person to cast said Ninjutsu; else it cannot be sealed. Chakra Cost: 1 to seal; 1 to unseal.
Name: Suimen Hokou no Waza • Act of Water Surface Walking Rank: D Type: N/A Range: N/A Element: NA Description: This technique allows the user to balance themselves on water by focusing a constant and steady stream of chakra to the user’s feet or hands. Because of water’s nature, this requires the user to be quick to adjust the amount of chakra they must emit to their feet in order to maintain a constant balance. Name: Kinobori no Waza • Act of Tree Climbing Rank: D Type: N/A Range: N/A Element: N/A Description: This technique allows the user to balance themselves on trees and vertical walls by focusing a constant and steady stream of chakra to the user’s feet. Gravity can easy be defined if this technique is mastered, allowing people to even stand upside down. If too much chakra is exerted the user will be pushed away; bark breaking and causing the user to then fall. If not enough chakra is exerted the user will lose their footing and fall. Name Puppet technique: Flawless performance - Papetto gijutsu: kanpekina pafōmansu Rank C-A Type Puppetry Range Personal (on puppet) Element NA Description By focusing more intently on their puppetry they are able to simulate various signs of life such as the chest rising and falling as if drawing breath and if the puppet is equipped with something to act as eyes they can move and track objects as if the puppet was really looking. Each rank up of this skill the puppet becomes more and more life like until they are indistinguishable from a living breathing person.
Effect at each rank C - Removes the clicking and clanking most puppets make as the movements become more fluid. User can also simulate some signs of life such as breathing and the eyes can be moved to look at something. (assuming puppet has eyes) but at this rank its not perfect. Example, the puppets breathing remains constant rate, cannot pick up or slow down. Eyes can follow an object but don't blink, slight delay when an object moves as the puppeteer has to figure out how to move the eyes from their position. B- User gets better at creating signs of life, can simulate more in depth signs of life such as panting or taking a deep breath. The puppet (if capable) becomes able to not only track objects better with its eyes but also express emotions. A- Giving the puppet life is second nature to the puppeteer as the puppet can now be made to flinch, gasp on impact show signs of pain (aside from bleeding) and appear completely alive to an observer. Name Grand performance: Life to the lifeless - Gurando seinō: Jinsei wa shin suru Rank C Type Genjutsu Range Personal (on puppet or puppets under users control) Description Using this techinque the user is able to create a voice coming from the puppets mouth. When combined with other clan techniques it creates a puppet that appears alive. The voice generated does not have to be the puppeteers though their mouth has to move and speak the words. The words will appear from the puppets mouth with the voice the users chooses. Only one puppet at a time can talk but the user can rapidly shift the techinque from one to another to create dialogue between their puppets. Chakra cost 2 CP Per Post
Name Grand performance: Trigger puppets - Gurando seinō hikigane kugutsu Rank D-S Type Ninjutsu Range Varies Description Due to the level of devotion Netsu put into the creation and control into their puppets they are not only able to channel chakra into them but to take it a step further and make them the launching point for their techniques.
By completing the seals for a technique the user can choose to expend double the chakra for the power used and have it be launched from their puppet instead.

After forming the needed hand seals, the user's body will disperse into a shower of flower petals. These petals will confuse and distract her or his opponent while she or he escapes or hides. This technique works very similarly to substitution, but can also be used to delude the enemy with more flower petal based Genjutsu. Chakra Cost: 5

After completing the seals required the puppet brings both of its hands and smacks its head to create a large cracking sound to create the trigger. If heard the issue begins and the puppet takes its own head off and throws it at the subject. As it flies it grows and grows until large enough to swallow them whole. After completing the seals the puppet claps its hands together once acting as the trigger. Shortly after everything goes dark for only a moment before there is the sound of a spotlight turning on and someone important to the subject (a mother, lover, family member) is under the spotlight. They don’t speak but instead hold their hands out as if asking for a hug if the subject does not hug them the illusion lunges at them. After completing the seals the tech can only be activated when the subject strikes what should be a fatal blow to whoever is hiding inside Kyofu. The puppet leans forward its mouth opening and dripping blood before it speaks using a voice of someone close to the subject asking why. The puppet makes a show of grabbing its own arm and snapping its hand back, “breaking” the fingers of that hand. Name: Horror Story: Gleeful Martyr - Horāsutōrī: Ōyorokobi no junkyōsha4 Rank: C Type: Puppetry Range: Close 0-5m) Element: NA Description: This tech can only be performed with the puppet Kyofu. Once the target is within range Kyofu snaps open from the front showing his empty cavity before lunging forward in an attempt to “eat” the victim. If successful the victims limbs fit into all of Kyofu’s corresponding limbs. Arm go in arms etc. If eaten while Kyofu is facing them then they cannot see as their face will be facing the back of Kyofus head. But if eaten from behind they will be able to look out through the puppets eyes. Regardless once eaten Kyofu crosses his arms across his chest to limit their movement. Chakra Cost: 5
Name: Puppet show: Pass the sword - Papettoshō: Ken o watasu Rank:C Type: Puppet Range: Medium 5-10m) Close 0-5m) Element:NA Description:This tech can only be performed with two puppets. One of them must be Kesshi. Taking control Kesshi throws his sword in such a manner it spends rapidly not unlike a shuriken towards the target. This can cut and harm but at the same time the second puppet for the technique flanks rapidly going around and then attacks from behind. | Multi-Rank Techniques: When requesting a multiple ranked technique you must specify the maximum rank at which you wish to purchase it (said rank cannot be beyond the highest rank available to you presently) usually denoted as the letter in parenthesis or bolded.
