Appearance: Marina's physical appearance is almost exactly that of her clan's description. Just like they are depicted, her hair is long, silky, and black. Her skin is perfect and icy pale, giving her the appearance of a beautiful ghost. Her eyes are the only difference from the clan stereotype. Rather than dark brown, they are a dark purple. This comes from mother father, who was not a Yuki herself and had dark purple eyes, meaning she adopted her eyes rather than the clan standard of her father. Her hair itself is actually on the short side of the standard, preferring to keep it at a medium length rather than long. It comes down to her shoulders on all sides but the immediate front, coming to spikes near the end of its length. She tends to have one eye covered by her hair in the front, coming down at a curve to cover it to leave only her right eye exposed. She often gives off a very blank but bored look with this single eye, making her overall appearance look rather passive and possibly even cold. Her face itself is small, and her chin is pointed.
As for her actual body, she is definitely rather skinny, and not even that tall. She stands at 5'5", and weighs only 110lbs. Some see her as something of a lightweight, but she actually uses this to her advantage to move around quickly and gracefully, being a hard target to hit. Shes not exactly a stick, persay, but she is certainly a rather smallish thing. As for her wardrobe itself, it has a tendency to differ. By all means, she possesses the standard garb of the Yuki clan, and can even be seen wearing it on occasion. Some say she looks rather good in this outfit, but she sees it as more of a uniform than something to actually go running around it. She often wears the "striped turtle-neck sweater and green-blue kimino with white edges and the green brown obi around the waist" standard on missions, but seldom anywhere else. Sometimes, not even then. She prefers to do everything else in more casual clothes, and only wears the "uniform" when she feels the need to represent. Otherwise, she doesn't even wear it on missions.
Her outfit of choice is definitely much more simple. She'll either wear a black tank-top or a black T-shirt, and her pants are either short, down to the knees, or long, down to the ankles, black either way. Needless to say, she enjoys exploiting the contrast of black clothes to her icy white pale skin, which might explain why she isn't too fond of the general Yuki attire. Clearly, she likes to keep it simple as well. At all times, however, she keeps two custom made kits attached to both of her legs. These are small box shaped things strapped around her thigh, each containing 25 senbon and 2 explosive notes. She has sacrificed the availability of things such as kunai and shuriken in exchange for a large amount of Senbon, which she prefers to use over all. She plans on expanding the capacity more as she becomes more experienced.
Personality: Marina probably acts like what one would expect from someone forced to leave their home village and live in another. Her personality is also something of a reflection of her appearance of a ghost. She often acts cold and intellectual, though not necessarily mean. She is straight and to the point, and does not like to beat around the bush. She looks at life very realistically and objectively, and can sometimes be seen as detached. Shes not exactly emotionless, but she doesn't show a very strong sense of any emotion. Her eyes are a reflection of her general attitude towards almost everything: Blank and bored. She goes with the flow without speaking out very often. On the other hand, she can be extremely passive. She listens to authority and elders attentively and without objection, but when it comes to anyone else, if she doesn't find what they say logically sound or just doesn't like it, she often won't hear it. At the same time, it is nearly impossible to phase her. It is literally impossible to insult her, because she will shrug off anything that is said like nothing, and not even respond, or possibly even agree sarcastically. Dramatic events don't often invoke an emotional response in her at all, unless they are extreme and have something to do with her or a close friend.
Her lack of emotionlessness is practically legendary in the village, and many people have differing views on this. Many adults see this as making her a potentially exceptional ninja, but others believe shes missing out on aspects of life that are important for development. But again, shes not completely emotionless, and many people have made a point to try to make her show it. Many have failed, and truly only the closest of friends can make her even smile, though at the moment she has no one like that. For the most part, she looks at everything logically rather than emotionally, and is very steadfast in her opinion. For this reason, she gets along rather well with other logical members of the village, though she doesn't really become good friends with any of them. She experiences most feelings deep deep down most of the time, but simply doesn't express them for a number of reasons. Shes not even aware of them sometimes, but she has her wants and desires. One thing she wants, whether she realizes it herself or not, is a friend. A good friend.
One aspect of her actual personality is the things she is interested in. She likes things that are twisted and dark, and often finds herself drawn to them. She likes exploring dark concepts, and especially getting to know the more abnormal kinds of people. Perhaps ironically, she is very interested in psychology, and can in fact be very psychological despite her realistic outlook. Its a strange contradiction, but one she employs and even enjoys. She has a tendency to figure out people, and this can lead to understanding, hate, or even fascination depending on the person. Some might be surprised to find that she actually has a passion or two. Despite everything, she has huge respect for her clan. This explains why she often wears the clan garb on missions and whatnot despite her dislike of the particular style. Some people are perplexed by this, but she simply does not care. In truth, there is very very little she actually does care about. When it comes to things she does though, she can easily become very passive aggressive. She remains unshaken in things she believes in and holds dear.
Her Nindo, for example, has alot to say about this. It is a combination of her own personal feelings and her logical thinking. "Find something to fight for, or don't fight at all." This is something she very strongly believes in. She despises pointless conflict with enough passion to make her occasionally show such emotions when talking about it. She believes that one should not fight unless they have good reason to, and fighting for enjoyment is certainly not a good reason. However, she can be very understanding about different "reasons", but to do so she must be convinced. Fighting for "peace" or such things is something she loosely understands, and while she doesn't completely agree with it, is willing to live with it. The contradiction to this is actually herself, ironically. She herself feels as though she does not have a good reason to fight. Things such as to protect her village, or her clan, and things such as that do not convince her. She is willing to understand others who adopt this as their reason, but she cannot accept it for herself. She wants a better reason, which is why she has become a shinobi, to find that reason.

Combat Style: Marina has a rather personalized fighting style. She likes to start from a distance, preferably hidden. Here, she attacks from a distance with lethal accuracy with ice techniques and senbon. By doing this, she determines how the enemy prefers to fight, and how quickly they can move and react. She doesn't play around though, and its completely serious. If she determines that attacking this way is futile or too slow, she will move on to something else. She also tries to make every strike lethal, aiming directly for the vitals if it is an opponent to be slain. If she moves on from this strategy, she begins to use more ice techniques, or combining water techniques with ice techniques. She doesn't often use any wind techniques, with the exception of when she wants to put some distance between them. Ultimantly, she tries to stay at either long or medium range, striking with ice, water, and senbon. Shes not afraid to get close, however, when its necessary. Shes not exactly amazing at taijutsu, but she can hold her own. When it comes down to close combat, however, she tends to counter more often than attack directly, waiting for an opening and exploiting it. This also applies to her medium range fighting. If it is determined that she cannot very easily attack them directly, she will wait for openings and attack ruthlessly while gracefully dancing around most attacks that are made at her. Ever the passive one, rarely is a word muttered from Marina's lips in the middle of the fight, nor can she be influenced by enemy comments. She is silent but deadly in all meanings of the phrase.

THE BACKGROUND.
History:

-Marina was born, as one would expect, in the village the Yuki clan is known to inhabit. With a Yuki mother and a clanless father, she was brought into the world from the starting point of Kirigakure no Sato. Regardless of only having a single parent in the clan, she showed exceptional potential for wielding its abilities at a young age, and was therefor admitted into the clan officially without any problems. While not particularly fond of any Yuki clansman besides Marina's mother, he was still proud nonetheless, though secretly hoped that she wouldn't become too much like them.
-It came as no surprise when, upon pre-academy training by the clan leaders and her mother, she began to show understanding and even execution of Yuki techniques. She was very young at this age though, so she never actually executed a whole jutsu, but rather was able to form ice in her hands easily. She did, however, show a quick understanding of the concepts taught to her by elders, and many were pleased with her potential. It was clear that she was a quick learner and rather sharp too.
-When she came of age she was admitted to the academy to train to become a proper ninja, though she had practically known the concepts of what was taught already, so her learning mostly focused on execution rather than understanding. In no time at all, she had begun to execute the simpler Yuki techniques, though wasn't too great at the others taught at the academy. Clearly, she had a naturally affinity or knack for the clan ice techniques, but was considerably average with anything else.
-Even from birth, Marina had been the cold, intellectual person she was today. Perhaps it was due to the training from the Yuki elders and the lack of human interaction, but she never met any real friends, and therefor never snapped out of the coldness that had been placed around her like the very ice she manipulated. Her parents didn't mind however, because they knew she was a good girl inside, and they had been the only ones to see it. She always acted realistic and intellectual around them, but she always showed excitement or passion with the things she talked about and observed to them, showing emotion even if she didn't realize it. They loved her, and it was clear even if only to them that she loved them in return.
-One such passion that Marina developed during these years was something that is reflected in her Nindo to this day. By a combination of both hard logic and personal feeling, she always felt that fighting without plausible cause or reason was absurd. The logic came from the idea of "Why waste your energy and endanger your life for something that will amount to nothing?" while the personal feelings from the idea of "You can't be around for those who need you if your off dying for something that doesn't even help them." In truth, both of these ideas are more logical than not, but that simply explains Marina's way of thinking and emotional expression.
-This passion of hers turned out to be her downfall during her time in Kirigakure. Luckily for her, she discovered the terms for becoming a Genin in the village, and it shocked her to the core. All the potential Genin were to fight to the death, and the victor would be made Genin. She was repulsed by this beyond belief. The amount of pointlessness in such an event was overwhelming, and she suddenly harbored a hate for Kirigakure. She could not look at the village the same way, but worse, she could not look at the faces of hopeful academy students who probably would not live much longer. Then something hit her.
-Her family, her clansmen MUST have known this truth, and yet they encouraged her to stay and continue training. She confronted her parents on the matter, and got some mixed results. Her father, who was not a Kirigakure native, was unaware of this. However her mother, being a Yuki was, and admitted to knowing all too well. She hoped that it would not come to it, but expressed that neither she wanted Marina to be subjected to it, but confessed that there was nothing they could do for the elders were determined to have he prove herself this way. Needless to say, Marina was at a loss for words.
-It was determined that something had to be done. They could not continue to live here, none of their beliefs would allow them to, especially not Marina's. At that point, her father brought up the fact that he was from the village of Konoha, and that it was a much better place there, claiming that they could return there. Upon questioning as to why he was so sure, he admitted something shocking. He was an ANBU member in the village, and it was his mission to spy on Kirigakure due to tensions that had been rising. He confessed, not unshamefully, that falling in love with her mother (which actually happened) helped both himself and the mission. They agreed to talk about it later.
-Her father explained that his return would most likely be welcome, especially with the information he had gathered, and upon explaining the situation to the Hokage, that they would be welcomed into it as well. He also explained that if Marina showed him what she could do as an academy student here, she would probably be allowed to graduate in no time there. One might wonder what Marina thought of all this. Unsurprisingly, her logical outlook led her to be rather understanding of her father's mission, and did not think any differently of him. She also understood her mother's distress, and hoped that she would get over it soon.
-Without waiting another day, they faked their deaths and left the village. Ironically, her father was very skilled with fire, and they staged a fight between the three of them of a clash of fire and ice. Three skeletons were left in their wake, charred, and made to look like their own. The confusion allowed them to slip from the gates and make way for Konoha.
-Unfortunately, it could not be as simple as what Marina's father told. Unbeknownst to them, Konoha had gone to war in the time that Marina's father was away, and the only reason they were even allowed in the gates was because he introduced himself as an ANBU who had been away on a mission. Nevertheless they were very skeptical about Marina and her mother, though she remained expectantly calm and collected throughout.
-In short, they were admitted to the village simply because he was ANBU, and that his aid would be necessary. Marina and her mother were allowed to stay for the Hokage trusted his word on them, and even promoted Marina to Genin without going through the academy upon seeing her potential and skill. They needed all the help they could get, he said.
-A few years passed and the war was something that phased Marina little. Even in the wake of all the destruction around her, she acted very much like she didn't care. In truth, she was just glad to be away from Kirigakure, but she was also upset at the war itself. She hid her discontent for the whole idea. This war and the fighting it created was again, pointless, and she hated it. Her logical side allowed her to understand that Konoha was simply defending itself rather than asking for war, so she harbored no bad feelings towards it exactly.
-A number of things of note happened during this time in Marina's life. While she never attending the academy here, she heard of a student who left the village in order to live on his own terms. She had no idea why he did this, or even who he was, but was very interested in why he would do so. Around this time she realized her interest in psychology, and suddenly became very fascinated with the idea of "Missing Ninja" or those who would leave their village. This did not surprise her parents, for she had always been interested in the darker or less fortunate side of life.
-A little after that, the war got a little personal. The conflict was happening closer to home. Marina had seen little fighting, and many other Genin questioned her worth and existence in the village. Some even thought she was a spy there, though did nothing about it. To unintentionally prove them wrong, an enemy shinobi once snuck into the village. Marina was out alone by herself walking around, and he tried to move to kill her. Senses as sharp as ever, she pretended to be the fool, waited for the shinobi to leave himself open, and quickly implanted two senbon into his head. She promptly left the body and reported the occasion to the proper authorities without even looking at him. Her loyalty and skill were never again questioned.
-About another year passed, the war ended, and the Hokage she knew died and was replaced. She was a little saddened by his passing, for she had grown somewhat fond of him, but for the most part she did not care. She would look around at the destruction that had been wrought in wake of the war, and silently resolved to help in rebuilding however she could. She developed a sense of respect for the village, and decided that, since it was her home now, she might as well look out for it.
-Fighting to defend the village as a shinobi still remained a reason she could not accept as her own to fight. While it is the only reason she has now, she actively looks for a more plausible reason to fight to this day.
Roleplay Sample:
"Goodnight." The word was silently uttered from her pale lips like the whisper of a ghost just before four senbon, two of steel and two of ice, flew through the air utterly silent except for the quiet "ka-chunk" sound they made upon plowing into the wood of the target dummy's head. After which, the two ice senbon shattered and melted away as Marina quietly walked up to the target, completely alone and silent. Like most days, she had been out in the training field practicing her accuracy, and clearly, it had not faltered at all in recent years. She took a moment to stare at the dummy and all the small holes she had planted all over it from senbon just from today. After that moment passed, she extracted the two senbon from its head, and placed them back in her leg pouch full of them. To her, every senbon was precious and important; none could be forgotten or left behind. It was early morning and surprisingly cold, though she most certainly did not mind, even dressed in her causal clothes of a simple tank top and pants the cold did anything but bother her. Determining that it was time to leave the training area, she promptly turned around and began to walk away, though to where, she was not yet sure.
It mattered not anyway, the day was still just starting and many a things could be done. In truth, she would probably learn later today to continue training, after all it wasn't like she had anything else to do. In truth, she wanted to practice her ice techniques in full, but that training area most certainly wasn't the place to do so. She didn't figure the authorities would appreciate the area being completely frozen. She sighed through her nose as she walked...what to do...what to do. It was about that time that her stomach suddenly grumbled, and she looked down at it curiously. Apparently, she was hungry. As logical as ever, she immediately decided to go get some food, because clearly her body needed it. She did not care that, personally, she was not feeling hungry exactly, but since her body required sustenance, so it shall be.
It took some finding since it was so early in the morning, but she eventually found a nice place to eat that was open early. She stood a couple feet away from the small stall-like shop, looking up at the sign. "Ichiraku Ramen" it said, and she couldn't help but be interested. Ramen was something she had been unable to sample even since moving to Konoha, but the aroma that wafted out from the shop was enough to interest her enough to make her walk over, almost robotically. She sat down at a seat, and being just about the only person there, she was waited on almost instantly. The staff were kind and they all had beaming smiles and bright attitudes, despite the way she just stared at them saying almost nothing. She took a moment to look at the menu, and politely asked for something simple, claiming she hadn't tasted Ramen before.
One staff member in particular complimented her on her politeness, though all she did was nod and thank him quietly, almost as if she didn't care but was continuing to be polite in returning a thanks. She slowly became interested as she watched them move around and cook. Business was slow but they were all happy and kind, something she found to be all the more fascinating. Before long, she had a tasty looking bowl of hot ramen sitting in front of her. She looked at it for awhile before finally starting to eat, and after her first bite she found herself complimenting them on the dish. She was thanked in turn, and before she knew it, they were all having a big conversation while she ate. They seemed to be just as interested in her blank demeanor while she was interested in their cheery demeanor. Perhaps the greatest thing about the entire interaction was the way that, despite the contradicting personalities, they all got along great. They never once questioned her lack of emotion, and she never once questioned their excess of happiness.
By the time she was done eating, she was definitely feeling much better, not even realizing she had felt somewhat empty a few minutes before. They had talked about all sorts of things, exchanged opinions, and basically just had a good time. Even though she never laughed or even smiled when the rest of them did, it was clear they all enjoyed her presence. When she stood up to leave, she bowed, thanked them for a wonderful meal and a good time, and left without a smile. Nevertheless, she began to feel as though she would be going back to that cozy little ramen store quite a few times in the near future.

These needles can change direction in midair and will maim the opponent with their sharp wings. Chakra Cost: 5CP Custom Techniques Name: Tsumetai Choshi | Icy Veins Rank: C - S (Marina Rank: C) Type: Ninjutsu Range: Personal / Internal Element: Hyōton (Ice Release) Clan: Yuki Description: Tsumetai Choshi is a ninjutsu technique utilizing the Yuki clan Kekkei Genkai. With a single hand sign, the user freezes the edge of their blood and radiates a chill to the inside of their body. At its base, this jutsu stops all forms of bleeding, stopping the user from bleeding to death from even a gigantic wound, while still allowing blood to flow. Additionally, it braces the user, almost creating an internal armor of ice. This allows them to absorb some damage and prevent certain potentially fatal blows from being fatal, though this is only useful against non-blunt attacks. However, if a strong blunt attack were to strike any part of the body in this state, all the ice would shatter, stunning the user and unfreezing the blood. The amount of force it would take to shatter the ice corresponds with the rank of the user, and therefor the rank of the jutsu. Starting at A rank, the user gains the ability to freeze blood in specific parts of their body, allowing them to halt the advance of poison in their bodies, or simply brace for an attack to a specific location. The most noticeable drawback to this jutsu is the fact that freezing ones blood causes slowed reaction time, due to reduced internal temperature. This jutsu allows the user to freeze anything by touching it, or any water ninjutsu they have created without requiring touch. The user will usually use this to freeze weapons or projectiles. By doing so, the items become sharper, more aerodynamic, are completely silent when moving through the air, and become slippery to the touch except by that of the user. As for other jutsu, the user can freeze any jutsu-summoned water source without requiring touch. A good combination is often to throw a body of water at the enemy and then freeze it as it hits them, and therefor the enemy with it. The rank of the jutsu depends on the rank of the item that is frozen, the rank of the jutsu that is frozen, or the size of any other thing that is frozen. To freeze another living thing requires at least an A ranked amount of chakra, and even then, can only freeze the specific body part that is being touched. To do so requires both hands to grip the body part, and the process of freezing the entire part takes a few second, slowly advancing until all of it is frozen. By doing this, they are able to create a path of ice in which they can slide upon to quickly move around. If angled correctly and moving with enough velocity, the user can plow into an enemies feet, flipping them into the air over and behind them. They can also do this on a body of water, to either walk or slide across it. At A rank, the user is able to freeze the water molecules in the air directly, therefor sliding around mid-air as well. A - Activation: 23 Description: Hyōton Bunshin | Ice Clone Rank: C-S (Capable Marina Rank: C) Type: Ninjutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m) Element: Hyōton (Ice Release) Clan: Yuki Description: Hyōton Bunshin is a ninjutsu technique utilizing the Yuki clan Kekkei Genkai. It is a clone technique that works very differently from the traditional ones. The user will move either a single part of their body, or their whole body, away from where it was before. This jutsu instantly replaces the previous occupied space with a clone of the body part, or body, made of ice. If this body of ice is touched by an enemy, the created ice will very quickly envelop them. This causes them to be incased by a layer of ice that surrounds and outlines them, rather than freezing them completely. When used on an enemy of equal rank, they will be completely unable to move for a short amount of time (5 seconds) before they are able to forcibly break the ice and escape. When used on anyone of a higher rank, they will simply be temporarily slowed by the ice less and less as the rank increases, rather than made immobile. When activated, an aura of frost surrounds the user's hands, hanging heavy about them with a noticeable icy blue hue. This aura does nothing to anything that comes into direct contact to it except water molecules in the air, meaning being touched while in this aura will not harm the one touching them in any way. When the aura comes into contact with water molecules in the air, they freeze and form sharp needles which hover in the air and point towards the enemy. Usually this works by leaving ice needles in the air in the user's wake as they move around. Upon signal, every needle will shoot out and fly towards the enemy at once. The aura forms 1 needle for every 5 inch at C rank, adding another needle in that 5 inch diameter as the rank increases. The aura lasts as long as the user wants to uphold it. - Quote :

The range of the clone is limited however, it can not travel very far from the original body. If the Mizu Bunshin is injured, the clone will usually revert back into its natural water state.

| - After talking with Sean I added different kits to the encyclopedia to compensate for not having other basic weapons (if not wanted).
- Icy Veins: With Icy Veins I would say a possible drawback would be the slight slowing of blood through your system due to the temperature leading to a slight decrease in reaction speed? there needs to be something along those lines. It would also need CP costs for continued uses labelled.
- Ice Slide: Would need handseals. Dis ain't avatar! xD
- Ice Beacon: Would be at least B-rank for me, please remove.

I changed Beacon of Frost a bit. Instead of surrounding the whole body, it surrounds just the hands, making the area of affect smaller. Would that work better? If not then I'll remove it. |
