Ok...I have noticed that in the manga the shinbi war is seemingly hearing its end. Kabuto has revived nearly everyone in history. So far we have seen the ex-kage, Seven-Swordsmen, Sliver and gold brothers, akatsuki, Hanzo, Asuma Sarutobi, Chiyo, Hizashi Hyuga and a few more remembered village conrads. However their are still a few names out there that we know but yet to have been summoned that could possibly be the masked Tobi. Of the few names such as Obito and Izuna Uchiha. There is one person that is hardly ever mentioned or at least I never hear so. "Konoha White Fang" Sakumo Hatake. I don't know why but it dawned upon me the he was never summoned. He was said that in his time he was possibly more powerful than the sannin Jiraya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade and praised equally. I'll end this here to see what the people of Ultimate Shinobi thinks.

Anyway, there are plenty of people that Kabuto has yet to summon, like the remaining Kages (Kaze, Mizu, Tsuchi, Rai) for example. You'd think he'd revive the Sandaime Kazekage at the very least, as said individual was known as the most powerful of all the Kazekages. But that's beside the point. Most likely Kabuto considered Sakumo, but obviously there has to be a limit as to how many he can summon or control based on his stamina, so he probably dumped Sakumo in favor of someone else. I'm glad he did. Sakumo would have been Talk-no-Jutsu'd the moment he stepped out of his casket.

Now, if you're implying that Tobi is Sakumo....

Indeed. There are not very many options as to who Tobi can be at this point in the Manga. We can only go through what we have and determine Kishimoto is pulling this out of his ass as he goes along. Obviously Kisame and Itachi each thought they knew who Tobi was. Zetsu might be the only one who knows.

In the scene where he went to remove the mask, he seemed quite old to me, I don't know why, he looked wrinkled. Add onto the facts he knew a lot about Madara and Hashirama, as well as the Uchiha Clan, Itachi's past, possibly "convinced Yahiko to start the Akatsuki", possibly "gave Nagato the Rinnegan", and wants to subject everyone to a world without thought.

Clearly we choose to ignore the basis that characters don't always change sides. We allknow Sakumo is dead. Along with that, you'd need one good explanation on him dying his hair black, gaining two Sharingan, learning to use them properly and whatnot.

Izuna, Madara's brother correct? No. There's no possibility. Considering Itachi stated Madara killed his brother to gain the EMS, yet Tobi stated that Izuna gave them willingly. It was later stated Izuna was killed in battle. Find good explanations.

Obito. There's one I hate discussing. Because a part of me agrees that Obito might be under the mask. But, even if he did, I seriously doubt he would want to place the world under an Infinite Tsukiyomi. He gave his eye to Kakashi because he didn'tget him a present beforehand. Where do you even find the ability to put forth that Obito could be Tobi?

In my honest opinion, Tobi could be a few people. He could potentially be Madara, considering Mu possesed the ability to split, then Madara, would did in fact awaken the Rinnegan, being virtually able to learn every jutsu, is liable to such skill. Only backstory or removal of the mask will end this.

Eh one possibility no one seems to bring up - the elder son of the Sage of Six Paths. It would explain the age (guy would have to be ancient), all the assorted dojutsu stuff, how he knew about the Ten-Tails, the whole "world peace through mass hypnosis", etc.

Of course there is the little problem of how the blazes he stayed alive all this time but given the other stuff that happens in the series it's not that outlandish I suppose. And I agree with Mr U. Until the back story is given or the mask removed, getting a positive ID is going to be impossible. Actually maybe not even the mask being removed might be enough - there is still the whole "body-stealling" bit.

Okay, I'm going back to reading fanfiction now. Trying to puzzle out possible identities for the masked munchkin is giving me a headache.
