Bōn Otibot

Name:Bōn Otibot
Age: 15
Gender: Male

Otibot isn’t by any means a large boy. He is scrawny and left without a shred of developed muscles. However, how many fifteen year old boys have developed muscles? Weight lifting in general at that age isn’t exactly healthy. Otibot has still managed to avoid getting the toned look he should have from regular shinobi activities though.

Reddish-Brown bangs fall in Otibot's face, more outward than inward, something that is as natural as his equally maroon pupils. Flattened out towards the back, it remains remotely spiky at the bottom of his hair, of course in a downward motion instead of most people's spikes that shoot up.

Beneath the hair lies what faces usually have. It’s not uncommon to have a nose, a mouth, and a pair of eyes is it? Otibot's eyes hold a color very similar to his hair and lying below that is a neat, well kept nose. His mouth, a good subject, is hardly ever as shown in the picture above. Otibot doesn't smile much anymore, at least not like that, and his face is usually displaying a "all business" form of intent.

Otibot usually wears a silver jacket with blue stripes on the arms, shoulders, middle, and collar. Through the middle of the collar lies a red stripe. This jacket is usually covering the red shirt the man typically wears beneath the jacket and always seems to be accompanied by a long pair of blue pants that the boy personally attests to being divinely comfortable. Why Otibot likes this particular article of clothing is unknown to him.

In a word, Otibot is cynical. He is bitterly and sneeringly distrustful, contemptuous, and pessimistic. Oh and boy can he complain. Otibot has a tendency to over dramatize, whine, and moan about every little thing around him. Anyone who speaks to him can expect to hear some form of complaint from him. Said complaints can vary widely from insulting comments about a person’s hygiene to complaining about the weather, he’s really an equal opportunity whiner. This is accompanied by a certain sense of over activity as well, which makes the child somewhat annoying in multiple ways. Both of these qualities tend to be only magnified further when he is in a group setting, except he will recoil in to himself as well. The shyness in conjunction with the over activity make for a rather awkward combination.

Due to this personality, based on popular opinion, flaw; Otibot doesn’t have many a friend. He had never functioned well outside his family and school was rough because of it, which made the child rebellious further. Most people lose their ability to tolerate him within a few moments of meeting him and tend to wish nothing to do with him whatsoever. For him, that’s perfectly fine. He isn’t exactly fond of other people either. People can give away your location, your intentions, he isn’t a fan of teams and he certainly isn’t the cooperative sort. He prefers greatly to work alone and doesn’t actively work to fix his friend repelling habits. The few friends he does manage to acquire tend to be lifelong ones however, if they can stomach his sarcastic tongue and generally agitating disposition. The boy is desperately loyal

There are a few exceptions to this rule however. Otibot has a soft spot for young children, to him, subconsciously; they are excluded from the taint of misery that adults carry. The innocence of the child is something that he feels uncannily drawn to. Most of the rare occurrences of a smile from Otibot are when in the presence of children. It is when he feels most at home with things, the most comfortable. Of course, this does little to curb his complaints. He still whines and moans at the same, if not a greater frequency than he does amongst his peers; however the tone is substantially different. It is noticeable that he isn’t legitimately annoyed by everything when around the children. Amongst adults, the loathing of other people’s existence is blatantly obvious.

The second exception comes in the form of his family. Otibot is a completely different person around them and is suddenly nice, kind, and apparently willing to go through whatever odd and grueling training exercises they have for him, making him the equally insane inverse of his normal sardonic facade. The only people who will see this side of him are the aforementioned friends he tends to sparingly make, leaving this aspect of his personality mostly unknown.

Unlike a good deal of Shinobi, Otibot does not enjoy combat. Fighting people wasn’t nearly as fun as sliding around. The only benefit he sees to fighting is the ability to complain before and after. He harbors no love for the “during” of a fight. Consequently, Otibot is constantly trying to avoid fighting and when it is unavoidable, the fight is attempted to be ended as quickly as possible, generally harboring no hesitation to end someone’s life or permanently cripple them. He is a shinobi, begrudgingly, killing is what he does. That and preventing someone from being able to fight is the quickest way to end a conflict so he can go back to the much more enjoyable activity of complaining about it.

Child Birth

Bōn Otibot was born in to a happy little family scraping by a living in the mightiest, and seemingly only, hidden village, Otibot was a child of Konoha. From birth, the boy was raised in an extended family, and quickly found that being raised by twenty or so people definitely had its advantages. Almost everyone in his family served as a combatant in some capacity, many being masters of various martial arts. From a very young age, around the age of three to be as exact as possible, Otibot was immersed in the life of the martial artist. Children in his family were taught basic forms of hand to hand combat at a very young age and Otibot was no exception. By the age of four, Otibot had begun learning the basic movements of Bagua and by the age of six he had learned the beginning katas of Karate and basic movements of Jujitsu. Otibot felt he was fully and completely prepared when his extended family decided for him to attend the shinobi academy. It was during this time that he had adopted many of his family’s morals in some small capacity, embracing a small part of their belief that combat should be performed right in someone’s face. He had never been more excited.

And then…

And then he could not be more disappointed. Martial arts, something they were calling Taijutsu, were only a portion of what it meant to be a shinobi instead of the whole like Otibot was led to believe. He quickly found that all the talent, which was mostly just hard work to begin with, was perfectly useless when it came to things like chakra molding or jettisoning fireballs from his behind. Instead, Otibot decided to do the only thing he knew how to mend the crippling self-esteem issues that followed, he threw himself even deeper in to his family’s training and dedicated very, very little to the techniques that the shinobi academy was trying to impart upon him. Further perfecting the wide range of Martial Arts that his parents and family had deigned he learn.

When his time in the academy finally came to an end, Otibot had just barely learned the requisite techniques to be considered a graduate, and emphasis is placed on the word barely. The only person in the class who scored worse than him was also the only failure and it was hardly flattering to be considered in relatively the same company, this has led most to consider Otibot to be relatively stupid, which further brought on his rather cynical personality. Nevertheless however, he still managed to scrape by with his education.

Officially a Genin

And the official capacity was really the only way that Otibot was a genin. He felt no real association to the shinobi world and still doesn’t to this day, the only connection he feels is that hand to hand combat still exists in both. So for the time being, his occupation as a shinobi is a means to an end to pick up whatever paltry funds he can muster in order to feed his family, it isn’t any more than that to the boy. It also took the majority of school to fully convert him to the belief, his ineptitude in other areas obviously not fueling it in anyway, that Taijutsu was the pinnacle of combat and what everyone should one day specialize in. This has sparked the boy to carry on that dream to prove that Taijutsu was the strongest form of combat and that it should be at the forefront of all forms of fighting, shinobi and otherwise.

Roleplay Sample: ((This is from a FMA board I played at once upon a time. If I have to create another post for this character I will, but I hope this will suffice))
Teimo watched in a sort of awe as artillery shells from both sides rained down upon each other. He had never seen anything like this in Xing. All his experiences in fighting involved assassins going after the princess, perhaps a thief or two got in the way as well. He hadn't seen anything like the carnage these people were doling out on one another. He wasn't sure if he should feel disgusted or amused. It was definitely a bit of both, but there was also a sense of pity. This was such a waste, why were they so intent on fighting over a bunch of snow? This place didn't seem to be worth much. He didn't even realize miserable places like this existed. Well, he did realize it, he had read the books about it. The literature didn't quite do the misery of this place justice however. The tap on his shoulder broke his concentration and he immediate set after the man running through the snow, a task Teimo wasn't really suited for.

He was able to keep up with the man, somehow. Perhaps weather just couldn't beat athleticism? It was about to be put to the test. A one centimeter ball of ice crashed into the ground in front of him. Was this hail? He had read about it, but this was an odd time for it wasn't it? Why was he so unlucky? This just was not fair. The boy quickly dodged to the side as another sphere of icy pain was about to collide with his head. This was going to be problematic, he would have to do something about this.

The boy wracked his brains, he had read enough about this subject for his studies, this shouldn't be too hard to stop. The average falling speed of hail was nine meters per second. It wasn't too quick to dodge in and of itself, but there would only be more of it and dodging multiple balls wasn't going to happen if he hoped to get to his destination. The boy's eyes trailed to the man infront of him and a plan donned.

Accelerating, the boy caught up to the man and, using the agility and grace of a child of Xing, catapulted himself into the air and landed on the man's shoulders. A few pieces of hail had connected on the journey, but small bruises were little more than an annoyance at the moment. The average running speed of an athletic man was between thirteen and twenty-one kilometers per second. Given this man's build, his maximum speed without sacrificing too much in the way of stamina should be around the middle ground of that. Factoring in the poor footing and the additional weight...

"Sir, if you don't mind, could you please try to maintain a speed of roughly eleven kilometers per hour? It would be much appreciated Mister.

The boy pulled from his belt a long shaft, his speciality. The blowgun wasn't something people of these lands often saw. It wasn't something people of his own country often saw. With rentanjutsu however, it became quite the potent weapon and tool. Here, he was going to use it to shield them from the hail. Given the speed at which he asked the man to move and the falling velocity of the hail, he would have to aim upward at a sixty-two degree angle. Repeating this shot should create an effective shield, eliminating the hail that would fall at the spot where they would soon be. It was a rough calculation without any fact checking, but this was hardly the time.

Then something weird happened. The wind had picked up and began to change the trajectory and speed. That wasn't natural, that couldn't be natural. Was that alchemy? Was that possible? The people they were fighting really had such a person? It seemed to be focused on them as well. Well, it was probably focused on Teimo's mule, not Teimo. Teimo wasn't particularly important. He'd have to adjust for the speed, increasing the angle by five degrees should compensate adequately.

"You have some interesting enemies old man."

The boy took in some air and the transmutation circle on the blowgun glowed a vibrant color. He wasn't going to get beat by hail. The small boy blew, the concussive force exploding from the gun and knocking the hail away from his location and creating a small lane for the man to run through. It wouldn't last long and the boy would have to keep going. They'd have a chance to catch their breaths when they got there right?

Allo, my darling!

It is always lovely to see a new face and after going through your application, I'm feeling quite wonderful. (:

Overall, there were few spelling, grammatical, etc. errors so that was lovely to read. The only issues that I believe I have noted in your application are the following:

The Nindo of a shinobi is essentially their "catch phrase" or something they live their live by. Please alter yours accordingly so that it reflects your characters true thoughts. Mine, for example, displays Sebastian's philosophy on life as he feels that we most hold our cards close to our chest.

Your character is allowed two elements. Please edit accordingly! (:

Other than that, I haven't found any other issues!

Très Bien!~

Edited, you're going to have to be nice enough to edit in the URL one more time though for me, apparently it extends to edits too.
