South, Chryl [C-Rank Nukenin] 539px-Ichigo_Kurosaki_Bankai_Reigai

South, Chyrl.

THE INFO.

Name: South, Chyrl
Nickname:
-Bumblebee
-September[Business Name]
Age: 16.
Gender: Male.
Appearance:
South’s overall look fails to be unique to the common eye of his environment. His appearance is overall, plain. While one might peg him for above average looks, they really don’t play a heavy role in the large scheme of things, so South doesn’t bother with looking his best. The most apparent feature of this would be his long, shaggy unkempt hair. Despite being one of the few who obsessively trains out in the sunlight, he has failed to gather a tan beyond a shade lighter then olive. His height is a decent length of 5’11”, being fairly tall for his age and lacking any real vertical difficulties. Keeping him above the height of many of his male counterparts, in terms of biological maturity. His body type is a decent cut above the rest, having fully specialised himself in the arts of the body, he now bears the marks of intense physical conditioning. Despite this, he has a lighter weight then many might expect, sitting at a trivial 69 Kilograms. His broad shoulders make him appear to be slightly more muscular then he actually is. His body bears several scars from various fights; the locations of the more fierce ones are those on his ribs, whence he learned the dangers of a scythe. A circular band of formerly damaged tissue around his shoulder shows the impact of a blunt weapon nearly removing that arm. On his left bicep there is the mark of a blade’s bite, ironically the same one that he now wields.

If one were to try and define the shade of his hair, it would be rather easy. A simple pick of above average length and strawberry blonde. While blondes are universally known, having strawberry blonde hair is something of a difference, and thus makes him more then a little recognisable in a crowd. Despite it’s current length, South has more often then not, had it short- only recently keeping it long because of increased notoriety among the minor nations, preventing him from getting it cut. And lacking the skills to do it himself, so he simply went with the ‘emo’ archtype, and allowed it to grow not bothering to keep it out of his eyes.

South's eyes are a brown, a brown that is plain, simple, yet at the same time: shallow. His woeful eyes tend not to reveal a lot about what he's thinking. He plays this as one of his strong points and often uses it as a distraction for opponents who are used to reading their opponents via softening and tightening of the eyes, and skin around them.
As for fashion South has slightly gothic tastes in clothing, usually wearing a black outfit of some sort, or at the very least- based in grey colours. When on duty as a Nuke-nin he often wears a mask, an ornament in the appearance of what could best be described as a menacing skull. There are two thick vertical maroon stripes, each on one half of the mask, that are interrupted by the eye-holes and the jaw. A jaw that seems to have missed whatever dental appointments that one might have originally been created for it, now the teeth are highly extended and thrust through where the lips should ordinarily sit.
These teeth are inordinately thin. To compliment this outfit he extends upon the original dark costume with a long-sleeved, ankle-length black coat with a crimson internal lining. Suffice to say, when fully decked out in complete regalia, South strikes a reasonably imposing figure upon those who he faces, and those who he fights with. It is actually the contrast between, black, white and his mask that has earned him the nickname Bumblebee, something that he despises.

Forehead Protector: Back of neck.
Personality:
The the world is a game; which is an excuse used by more than one soul to explain away precisely -why- they find the ideas of mundane thought to be alternately boring and hysterical or hypocritical and backwards, but it is again applied to South. Take a mind gifted with a proper intellect and give it room to grow, and then introduce to it the lure that all of reality could be understood and controlled-one only had to study it from the proper angle. This mind would belong to a young boy born in the shadow of the towers of others. Yet nobody is born with ideas in their heads, therefore; watching the growth of ideas of others allows one to cite from an introspective viewing point.
And so is born the methods of rationalism. For those who have defined the rules of the game, or more accurately, the guidelines upon which the game can be played for reliable and accurate results. A double six, so to speak. There are twelve rules. Twelve methods of rationality that must be obeyed, ‘lest you loose your path. They are born through the experiences that one goes through as they mature, from the casual back and forth nature of a babies relationship with his mother or caregiver. Which grows into the regulation that will provided that child with the regulation required. But what happens if a child grows up without the back and forth of a mother to child? Some become violent and rough, commended for their bravery, but not lauded for their reasoning. South is one such child who grew up without that guideline. So he made his own. The twelve methods of rationality, to keep himself in check and to help him understand the world around him. If not for his heritage, he might have failed on this path. But with the natural inclination of demonic nobility running in his veins, it allowed him to move past the mundaneness of emotional attachment, and develop his own free-standing image. Or images as the term might better be applied here. Twelve filters that allowed the young child to survive a dangerous world. And thus, without further ado, here are the images themselves:

The first lesson is curiosity. The vow that is made to pursue the truth in any form it may take, to scurry under the cloak of darkness and brandish it's iron rod. If but the knowledge you seek will be revealed it is well worth the effort expended.

The second virtue is relinquishment.
Do not flinch from experiences that might destroy your beliefs. The thought you cannot think controls you more than thoughts you speak aloud. Submit yourself to ordeals and test yourself in fire. Have confidence in what you hold dear and submit it time and time again to renew that confidence. Simply because what can be destroyed by the truth, should be. Ignorance in any form is weakness, this rule is often applied in addition to the lesson of curiosity.

The third lesson is lightness.
Let the winds of evidence blow you about as though you are a leaf, with no direction of your own. Beware lest you fight a rearguard retreat against the evidence, grudgingly conceding each foot of ground only when forced. This is important to be applied in fights, no such images like bravery will prevent Kirin from leaving a battle he has no hope of winning. The previous two rules are applied in conjunction with this one as well, literally functioning as the master board in terms of 'truth'.

The fourth guideline is evenness.
One who wishes to believe says, “Does the evidence permit me to believe?” One who wishes to disbelieve asks, “Does the evidence force me to believe?” Beware lest you place huge burdens of proof only on propositions you dislike, and then defend yourself by saying: “But it is good to be skeptical or cynical." You should be neither, nothing but a butterfly that only questions what he wishes to believe and why he believes it. Accusations should be internal, not external.

The fifth teaching is argument.
Those who wish to fail must first prevent their friends from helping them. Those who smile wisely and say: “I will not argue” remove themselves from help, and withdraw from the communal effort. In argument strive for exact honesty, for the sake of others and also yourself: The part of yourself that distorts what you say to others also distorts your own thoughts. Similarly, turning the other cheek to those who deserve no second blow also follows under it's jurisdiction.

The sixth virtue is empiricism.
The roots of knowledge are in observation and its fruit is prediction. What tree grows without roots? What tree spreads it’s diversity us without fruit? Do not keep all your eggs in the same basket. Spread your knowledge and diversify. It is all very well to spread your roots, but it is far more practical to begin a empire with you at it's head, and too dedicate your subordinates to gather information in different areas as you delve ever deeper.

The seventh attribute is simplicity.
Perfection is achieved not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. Simplicity is virtuous in belief, design, planning, and justification.
When you profess a huge belief with many details, each additional detail is another chance for the belief to be wrong. Some might say that a plan should have no more then three hinge factors, others say that planning is overrated, and act on the moment. But in truth, there is no easy way about it. Change your methods to challenge the situation.

The eighth image is humility.
To be humble is to take specific actions in anticipation of your own errors, to for see your own fallibility and then do nothing about it is not humble; it is boasting of your modesty, and professing your carelessness to the world. For those who also know this lesson, they will seek you out for they can see past the façade, and peer into the circles in which you walk.

The ninth virtue is perfectionism.
The more errors you correct in yourself, the more you notice. As your mind becomes more silent, you hear more noise. Becoming one who finds the errors in others work and then fixes them. When you notice an error in yourself, this signals your readiness to seek advancement to the next level. If you tolerate the error rather than correcting it, you will not advance to the next level and you will not gain the skill to notice new errors. No one is perfect, but it is certainly a goal to aim for. Striving to walk among the stars will see you fly high even if you fall short.

The tenth virtue is precision.
One comes and says: The quantity is between 1 and 100. Another says: the quantity is between 40 and 50. If the quantity is 42 they are both correct, but the second prediction was more useful and exposed itself to a stricter test. It contains a narrower margin for error and consequently; guesswork.
What is true of one apple may not be true of another apple; thus more can be said about a single apple than about all the apples in the world. The narrowest statements slice deepest, the cutting edge of the blade. Stereotyping a single thing leads to ignorance of exceptions, which will lead to the inevitable loss of life. Simply because the exceptions are those that will stick out like sore thumbs.

The eleventh virtue is scholarship.
Study many sciences and absorb their power as your own. Each field that you consume makes you larger. If you swallow enough sciences the gaps between them will diminish and your knowledge will become a unified whole, you will begin to see the inter-linking spaces between each Art as it’s own language. The more you know, the more connections you will be able to see, the more bridges you can construct.

Before these eleven virtues is a virtue which is nameless.
“The primary thing when you take a sword in your hands is your intention to cut the enemy, whatever the means. Whenever you parry, hit, spring, strike or touch the enemy’s cutting sword, you must cut the enemy in the same movement. It is essential to attain this. If you think only of hitting, springing, striking or touching the enemy, you will not be able actually to cut him. More than anything, you must be thinking of carrying your movement through to cutting him."

As one might expect from someone who carried around a sword, and has no discomfort at all about showing off what is obvious- a heavily toned body, South typically plays his cards close to his heart until he is within a better range of attack. Using a sword in combination with Taijutsu can be a little disconcerting; for both user and victim, but what is usually achieved is that South has two spheres of attack available to him. That relatively close to his body and that which his sword can reach, he refrains from using Ninjutsu at all, and is unlikely to ever use Academy Techniques despite being taught them. For dealing with those who might attempt to avoid his sword by getting closer to his body, South has a relatively simple method of convincing them it is a bad place to stay. Borrowing several motions from the Muay Thai styles, South will lash out with his knees and elbows in an attempt to stun them and open up the opportunity for an easy kill. When at a range, South is more leisurely with his attempts. Simply put, South is far more comfortable with them at a range. This is where he can utilise the environment for easier kills and just enjoy the experience that much more. He backs up his swordplay with a very basic, rudimentary knowledge of the body, not the names, not the function, but he knows his way around the body in the same way a butcher does. How to cut someone to best make them bleed, how to sever ligaments to still limbs. All this is known and used by South during the art of combat.

Hey I know you are trying to be stylish and I respect that but for the sake of ease of the staff and for the sake of keeping things relatively neat and uniform I would like you to change it back to the original format with the proper headings. Thank you.

  1. Title; the title of the topic needs to include your characters rank, such as 'South, Chryl [Kumo Genin]' or 'South, Chryl [C - Rank Nukenin]'. Right now, I'm at a lost as to which you are.
  2. Appearance; a bit more detail could be placed into this area, such as your characters height as an example. Honestly your first paragraph doesn't really give any descriptive detail on what Chryl looks like. So please do add more to this area, talk about clothing, physique or even scars if any. Also, you've mentioned that your character to be a Nukenin, yet your rank and affiliation states a Genin of Kumogakure. One of the two will need editing, because you can't be both I'm afraid.
  3. Affiliation; as stated in Appearance, you can't be both a Nukenin and a Genin, so this may need changing depending on your decision.
  4. Rank; see above.
  5. Combat Style; actual detail needs to be placed into this area, you've offered very little insight into how your character would usually go about a fight I'm afraid. I'll quote what the guide recommends to include, hopefully you'll get the gist of it.
  6. Paragraphs; each paragraph should include a line break to make it easier to read, right now it appears to be a large wall of text within your History. Please include a line break after each paragraph.
Quote :
Combat Style: How does your character like to fight? Hit and run tactics, a fearless tank on the battlefield or do you lurk in the shadows and kill silently. There are many different tactics and here is where you can write a brief description of the combat style in which encapsulates your character. This in some regards can be seen as a characters 'Combat Nindō'. Include such things as your strengths/weaknesses, the range in which your character likes to fight, any martial or other styles they have learn't, and your 'trump card' or otherwise known as 'Signature Jutsu'.

I just read through your app. First of all for future reference if any of your work has gone unchecked for 2 days you can post here. Do not bump the app with requests to be checked. The only time you are to bump this app is if you are confirming that you made the changes asked of you.

Now for the app itself.

I want you to go into your personality and insert line breaks between the different "rules" you put down.

I want you to put somewhere on the app up at the top that "September" is his name because when I was reading the history I got confused for a moment wondering who this "September" was until I realized you were talking about your character.

I'm confused. Where your parents originally part of the sand village?

In your specialty selection you have chosen weaponry and have listed swords and ranged weapons as your two weapons of choice. Please indicate which one of these is your main and which one is your sub as the rank of weapons you can use from each category is dependant on this.

For your combat style and special characteristics you have the two bolded titles mashed together so that your combat style paragraph appears under your special characteristics title and your actual SC doesn't have a title over it. Fix this please.

You have 2 slots left for jutsu if you wish to use them. Be advised that once you are approved you will have to pay for all your jutsu so it is recommended that you take this time to get as many jutsu as you can.

Please make these changes and I will recheck the application. Thank you.

Alright then, everything looks good, just a question about invisible air. How does it make one misjudge the distance? Is it a genjutsu or something? Does it somehow distort the view? I'm a bit confused on the mechanics of the jutsu...

Quote :
Name: Invisible Air
Rank: D
Type: Weaponry
Range: Close (0m - 5m)
Element: N/A
Description:
Chakra in it's natural state is invisible, so applying this rather basic concept to the use of Kenjutsu, it allows the individual to coat their sword in a layer of this, not channel it through the blade, but apply it like a coat of paint, not effectively doing anything aside from sitting a few centimetres above the surface of the blade, and hiding it from unassisted view. If someone were to look at it with chakra sensitive vision, it would be lit up rather visibly. For those without it, they can see the occasional shifts in the formation of the chakra, causing it to appear like a Futon Technique. What it does disguise is the shape, and the length of the blade. This can cause opponents to misjudge the distance and thus reach of the blade.
Chakra Cost: 5, [2 Upkeep]

Dodging what you can't see could be considered to be difficult. You don't know the weight of the blade, it's width if it has any special features or not. Hooks for example. It will also protect South's identity. Here is a picture of the tech to give you an idea. clickie!
This is kinda going by the assumption that Chakra is invisible to the naked eye...I know it is described as yellow in the manga, but we don't see it when it is expelled from the body.

That's all well and good but in your description you go on to state that chakra is invisible. So if it is invisible and you coat your blade with it then why would anyone have difficulties in judging distance?

I know that dodging something you can't see or see clearly is difficult. That wasn't my issue. My issue was that you don't really explain how this technique goes about disguising the shape and legnth of the blade. As this isn't a genjutsu I can only assume you are somehow effecting external factors such as light and such. So I ask that you please explain how someone would find it difficult to judge the blade's shape and such. From your above post you seem to be hinting at this technique covering your blade in chakra and creating just a mass of chakra around the blade so that it is concealed from view. If that's the case then please state it more clearly in the jutsu.

Once we clear this up I'm ready to give you my approval as everything else looks fine to me. ^^

I know you have yet to finish the already existing edits and make the clarifications, but I have my two points to add.

Invisible Air: First of all, after reading the description itself this technique cannot be deemed a D Rank. Please change rank to C. The chakra cost needed to be performed should be changed to 7, with one additional per post upkeep. However, you state that the weapon is covered with pure chakra, which is invisible. The nature of chakra that manifests outside the body is usually visible, taking the colour of blue, as explained in the series. Even if the chakra was indeed invisible, something that would happen to be valid for only your character, then the opponent would not be able to see the chakra itself, thus actually seeing the weapon. In order to conceal the appearance of your sword you might want to cover it with Fuuton chakra in a slow spinning fashion that affects the view of it, making it turn into a blurred image, but not completely disappear. This means that if you want to follow my case, you'll have to change one of your Elements to Fuuton - Wind Release. That doesn't look like a problem to me as you don't use Ninjutsu.

Face Claim: Change the source from Google Images to "Bleach". We don't ask for the source of the image, but that of the character you claim.

So just for clarification. If you and I are battling and you use this "Invisible Air" technique. What am I going to be seeing exactly? The description is still sounding kind of vague. Tell me what's going on. Walk me through this.

The physical manifestation of the technique could have been classified as a 'sheath of wind' which distorts the refraction of light and renders what is inside completely invisible by scattering the pathway of light.
