Takeshi Gouka

THE INFO.

Name: Takeshi Gouka
Nickname: G, Gou-chan to a select (annoying) few.
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Gouka is average to the point of being nearly bland. His hair, such a dark shade of brown that it's often mistaken for black, lies nearly flat along  his head in messy, spiky locks. At it's longest, it is level with his nose and ears, never a centimeter more or less. Oddly enough, despite his apparent lack of care,  his locks are always perfectly framed around his eyes, never, for even a second, directly obscuring his view. Despite the messy appearance, the hair itself always  maintains a healthy sheen, bespeaking of careful and thorough washing.

Gouka's eyes are... Strange, for a lad his age. A dark, oceanic blue, his eyes bring to mind a deep sea abyss, a thousand years of secrets lost in their depths. The  dark coloring makes his pupils nearly invisible, only a slightly darker patch betraying their presence. Despite their disinterested look, they are always attentive,  never breaking eye-contact with whomever speaks to him, never failing to notice a slight twitch, a sudden spasm in a gust of wind. Stare long enough, and it becomes  easy to believe he never blinks while someone is watching.

The face his eyes are set in is, for lack of a better word, plain. Thin lips, a small, slightly pointed nose, and thin black eyebrows betray little expression, save  for the occasional sarcastic smirk, or a credulous arch to the brow. He has a narrow, but strong chin, without even the faintest trace of peach-fuzz to betray oncoming  puberty. His skin is a pale peach colored, virtually unblemished. The only lines to mar his face are a crease in his brow when he  cares to frown, a dimple on his  right cheek when he has occasion to grin; though such grins rarely reach his eyes. Otherwise, his expression is generally carefully, tactfully blank.

Somewhat tall, Gouka stands at 5'11", weighing about 73 kilos. His build is slender, giving him a somewhat  unaturally thin look for his height. Despite the deceptively thin look, it would be more precise to describe Gouka as "compact." His arms and legs are well toned, in  a manner similar to a coiled spring. Even when he is relaxed, these springs always look coiled and ready to break loose. He has decent stamina, and is generally thought to be one of the  fastest genin in his class.

Gouka's clothes are generally simple and efficient. When he is off-duty, or has a day off, he prefers  civilian gear; simple white sneakers, a white, button up shirt  with a single pocket in the from, and loose, comfortably fitting jeans. for the most part, however, he generally remains in mission gear; a thin, long sleeved black  shirt, over which goes a harness he can attach a backpack to; thin, black cotton gloves, and a mechanism on each wrist, filled with coiled wire, to attach to his  daggers; a utility belt, containing a pouch for smoke bombs and explosive tags, a few spare coils of wire, and a rappel rig. His pants are black, close-fitting but  loose around the joints; a kunai pouch strapped to his right leg,  black boots with thick, grounded rubber soles; and over it all, a black trench coat with loose  sleeves, the tail reaching just past his knees.

Though few ever actually see it, when Gouka is without a shirt and his back is exposed, it is revealed to be a mass of scars. Peppered across his back are sprawling,  roiling knots of skin, ranging from the usual peach-coloredness of his skin to slightly paler, to an angry red in the lower areas. Anyone with sufficient knowledge  will realize that they are burn scars, intermixed with an apparent peppering of shrapnel scars. If pressed, Gouka will admit to no pain from the scars, only a  tightness of the back when bending too far.

Forehead Protector: Though he generally prefers to keep his forehead protector stored in his kunai pouch, when duty or ceremony requires it, he wears it wrapped  around his left bicep.

Personality:
There are many types of ninjas in the world. There is the genius, who's always miles ahead, always gains power with ease. There is the strategist,  always three steps ahead, never without a plan. There's the maniac, a ruthless murderer who derives their greatest pleasure from killing. There is the leader, that one  charismatic, skilled individual who can convince even the most cynically jaded fellow that the fight  is worth fighting. There is even the idiot, the one who can't  tell one end of the kunai from the other, who gets by on sheer luck and courage.

And then there's Takeshi Gouka.

Gouka is, in a word, "Impersonal." In several words he can be described as solitary, quiet, invisible, blunt, and honest. Despite being one of the highest ranking in  his class, and reputably one of the fastest as well, in all his years at the academy he always remained an enigma, to class mates and instructors alike.

As said previously, the best word to describe Gouka is "impersonal." He is not the genius striving for power, not the strategist seeking knowledge, not a mad man  looking to kill legally, not a leader striving for a dream, nor even an idiot looking to prove himself. Gouka feels no more passionate about being a ninja than if he  had chosen to be a blacksmith, or a doctor. To him, it is simply a job, and one he intends to do skillfully and efficiently. Once upon a time, he might have felt  differently, but such a time is long gone.

Throughout all his years in the academy, Gouka was always a quiet, solitary sort. He preferred to keep to himself, finding sustenance in training both his body and his  mind. In all his time at  the academy, the closest thing he had to a friend was the Nibi Jinchuuriki Hanzoku Kirima, who constantly  pestered him in an attempt to get either a rise or a smile out of him. Not many make the connection between his speed and his constant escape attempts.

Being a ninja, Gouka can whole-fully understand the frequent necessity  of subterfuge, seeing beneath the beneath, saying one thing and meaning another. He is even  moderately skilled  in doing so. That said, the act of it is annoying to him. It is always aggravating to him when he has to hold his tongue. On the whole, he prefers  being able to speak bluntly and directly, cutting to the point instead of beating around the bush. To this end, it is very, very rare to hear him tell a lie.

Gouka has few things he truly enjoys, and a very small list of things that can make him truly passionate. He cannot tolerate loudmouths who feel the need to clog the  air with the sound of their voice, and he especially hates when people actively lie  to him. He considers trust to be a very precious thing, and does not give it  lightly, nor take it lightly when someone expresses trust in him.

Another interesting aspect of Gouka's personality, though very subtle, is that he is paranoid. A peculiar type of paranoid. More polite descriptors  call him  skeptical. Less polite ones often wonder aloud why he hasn't resorted to wearing a tinfoil hat. He is very wary of trusting anyone or anything, and is very finely  aware of the difference between "Impossible" and "Improbable." If an instructor proved to be a spy and dropped the disguise in preparation to slaughter the class,  Gouka would be the first one throwing kunai. He will not believe an enemy is dead until he's seen the body his self, and personally removed its head. If someone told  him the sky was blue, he'd still look up anyway just to make sure.

THE NINJA.

Origin: Kaminari no Kuni
Affiliation: Kumogakure.
Rank: A
Specialty:

  • First; Weaponry (Main Close, Sub Mid)
  • Second; Ninjutsu

Elemental Affinities:

  • Raiton
  • Suiton

Combat Style:
The most flattering description of Gouka's fighting style is "Combat Pragmatist." The least flattering is "Cheap!" Gouka is a practical fighter above all else, showing no hesitation to exploit a weakness, no compunction to "level the playing field" for his opponent, and certainly no shame for running away from a much stronger opponent if he can. He prefers to attack either from a distance or by surprise, other using his blades on their wires, or using the wires to silently drop down behind an opponent and equally silently strangle them. By no means, however, can he not hold is own at close range, or head on. He is very fast; his speed lending itself to a whip like strength, thus allowing him to generally make the first blow. His trump card is his weapons, as he uses them for electrical conductors, often giving the enemy a shocking surprise.

Gouka's greatest weakness is long range, his stamina, and his flexibility. He has very few techniques effective beyond mid-range, and while he is fast, he only has  average stamina, making it less draining for him to dodge rather than block, and inadvisable to try and overpower at close-range rather than use finesse. As a result  of his burn scars, while he can manage most forms of movement fine, anything such as bending over or backwards far enough, while possible, causes sufficient pain to  either hinder or distract him, though he will not hesitate if it's mild pain versus instant death. His greatest strength is his versatility and stoicness, being  equally effective at close and mid-range, and letting very little ruffle him and cause him to act without thinking.

THE ARSENAL.
Equipment:

KYOBU Mask & Uniform:

Name: KYOBU Mask & Uniform
Rank: N/A.
Type: Clothing.
Appearance: The KYOBU wear porcelain animal masks in order to distinguish themselves from normal shinobi and to conceal their identities. They also have standard uniforms consisting of black and grey armour, metal arm guards and gloves, ninja sandals with spikes for travelling into mountainous regions, three ninja pouches on their back-waist and a signature spiral tattoo on their shoulder (left shoulder for male KYOBU members, and right shoulder for female members). Some KYOBU wear black cloaks over their standard uniforms, and squad leaders may wear white cloaks. Most KYOBU carry a sword, which is usually strapped to their backs.
Special Abilities: Despite what special characteristics a member may possess, those who wear this uniform will be able to gain the Stealth SC in that thread. Jonin+ members who are in uniform may acquire the Advanced Stealth SC instead.

KYOBU Tattoo:

Spoiler:
Name: Sairyō Zenmetsu - Discretion Annihilation
Rank: N/A
Type: Fuin Tattoo
Placement: Right Shoulder (Male), Left Shoulder (Female)
Element: N/A
Description: On their entry into the force, Black Ops members are tattooed with a special seal, infused with their blood and chakra. This seal acts as the Suicide Seal for agents who are caught on their missions, and possess information that cannot be allowed into enemy hands. Performing the necessary signs, all the user's remaining chakra flows into the seal, killing them outright from chakra exhaustion. What's more, the seal then activates a large scale explosion, equal 20 explosive tags, completely erasing any evidence the operative existed- along with any foes so foolish to be too close when the operative activates the seal. Being attuned to their blood and chakra, each seal can only be activated by the operative it has been tattooed on, and no others. Thus, it cannot be used against them under any circumstances. In the process of draining the user's chakra to activate, the seal grows brightly, illuminating the entire user's chakra network as well. The process takes a half-post to complete, and is excruciatingly painful. Anyone still near the brightly glowing, screaming Operative when they blow, fully deserves their fate.
Chakra Cost: At least 25 CP, uses all remaining chakra available to the user.

When stood, a small scroll will measure up to fifteen centimetres in height, with the scroll length itself reaching fifty centimetres.
Contents: (Scroll 1) 2 Windmill Shuriken [10],  (Scroll 2) 2 Tomahawks [10]

Summons:
Spoiler:
Name: Sutoraipu (Suto for short.)
Rank: B
Appearance: Suto is a bit of an oddity for his particular species of mongoose, the narrow-striped mongoose. While most of his kind do have stripes, the norm is for said stripes to run down along their bodies, parallel with their spine. In Suto's case however, they flow in quite a different direction, instead running horizontally across his back. He has charcoal gray fur all across his body, his stripes being a near pitch-black, lightening to a more brownish tan across his under belly.

Another oddity that sets Suto apart from his kindred is that, again for his species of mongoose, he is rather large for his kind; topping out at two feet long, three feet including his tail, and measuring seven inches at the shoulder. Despite this, he is exceptionally small for a B-rank summon. There is some speculation that Suto may have the faintest traces of Ichneumon in his blood, resulting in his comparatively large size. He has small, round ears, eyes the color of amber, and sharp, pitch-black claws. Other than his unusual size, and the unusual placing of his stripes, there is little to set Suto apart from his brethren physically. Despite his small size for a summon, he is lithe and agile, using both his natural agility and small size to prevent a low-profile target.

Personality: What truly sets Suto apart from his brethren his personality. While most mongoose tend to be agressive, especially towards snakes, Suto is a rather easy, comparatively friendly, and pragmatic mongoose. He sees no point in going out of his way to find trouble, and will only resort to a fight if no other options presents itself. He prefers to work with his summoner, rather than forcing them to prove themself, or subjugating himself to them. To him, he and his summoner should respect each other above all else.

That said, when it does come down to a fight, Suto is viciously pragmatic. He is not above maiming to give himself a better opportunity for a lethal blow, but at the same time, he does not seek to prolong suffering, ending the fight as quickly as possible. His fighting style tends to rely heavily on hit-and-run tactics against larger opponents, otherwise opting to be as stealthy as possible and provide combative support to his summoner, such as a distracting attack or a covering smokescreen. In his personal time, his favorite food is fish, his favorite activity to simply laze about in a warm sunbeam. His only true dislike is being mistaken for a pet, though he does not mind the occasional petting if he chooses to allow it.

He has gotten along well with Gouka, finding himself called only when absolutely needed, and finds he is treated respectfully; no more different than a furry, four-legged human. He finds serving under Gouka an easy enough task, only rarely pushed to his limits. That said, he does not let the easy life soften him, and is always ready to defend and aid his summoner as vigorously as possible. And contrary to what one might think, he does not in any sense consider his small size (for a summon) a limiting factor in his combat abilities, and quickly disabuses large opponents of the notion.

Contract Type: Personal

Species: Narrow-Striped Mongoose

Speciality: Ninjutsu

Elemental Affinity: Raiton

Summons Jutsu:
Spoiler:

Spoiler:
Name: Yūbokumin (Yubo for short).
Rank: B
Appearance: Yubo is something of a great oddity amongst the mongoose family. While he is quite undersized for a summon, he is very, very large for a mongoose, topping at seven feet long, fourteen when including the tail, and standing four feet high at the shoulder, essentially making him roughly the size of a small horse. His fur is nearly pure-white all over, excepting the black fur on his paws, snout, tip of his ears, and tip of his tail. The tail is surprising prehensile, acting as an additional grappling limb or simply a long, supple whip.

Adorning Yubo's body are a series of tribal-like, fur tattoos, patterns dyed into the fur. He has them encircling his front right an back left paws, near the base of his tail, on his left shoulder, and radiating from his left eye, in almost sun-like patterns. If these tattoos hold any meaningful significance, he keeps them to himself. His eyes calmly look out on a world, a serene, unflinching brown gaze.

Personality: Yubo is a rather quiet, but restless summon. Though he speaks little, he acts frequently, rarely remaining still whilst summoned, always twitching or pacing back and forth. He gives the impression of always being at attention, eyes boring directly into whoever is speaking to him, ears flicking around at the faintest sound. When he does deign to speak, he has a quiet, soft-spoken voice, frequently using honorifics, regardless of who he speaks to.

Yubo is, by nature, a wandering soul, his calm demeanor belying a restless yearning to venture out and explore the world, seeing all there possible is to be seen. Fitting enough for this, his duty within the summoning family is something of a "work horse" class. He is of the perfect size to carry his summoner on long journeys, his relatively small size belying a strength on nearly on par with most any other B-rank summon, easily capable of towing gear as well.

While he is a capable attacker, his main duty and purpose is to, simply put, get the summoner out of danger when shit hits the fan. He techniques focus mainly around defense and concealment, working to allow a summoner to escape as quickly as possible. Alternatively, is the summoner is too injured, he will personally carry them to safety, allowing them to focus on attacks and the like while he focuses on running.

Contract Type: Personal
Species: Albino Mongoose
Speciality: Ninjutsu
Elemental Affinity: Raiton
Summons Jutsu:
Spoiler:

Weapons
Spoiler:
Name: Hakyū Kōka - Ripple Effect
Rank: A
Type: Close
Appearance: At 15 inches long, 12 of which are devoted to the blade, Ripple is closer to being a short-sword than a dagger. The strangely curved blade looks much like a serpent slithering across the ground the way the blade "ripples" back and forth, the metal looking old and worn, but strong as ever. It has a solid oak sheathe, bound with metal bands, and the leather-wrapped handle fits comfortable in the grip of a skilled user.
Quantity: 1
Storage: Sheathed on belt.
Special Abilities:

  • Durability; the blade is made almost entirely out of Tungsten Carbide, with a softer steel core, making it highly durable and resistant to most forms of damage.
  • Conductivity; being an A-rank weapon, it is highly chakra conductive.
  • Ripple Effect; the true forte of the blade, and the true reason it has its name. Channeling chakra through the weapon allows it to activate a Kai-like ability; rather than outright dispelling illusions, it will only temporarily fragment them, causing them to "ripple" like a mirage image as what the illusion is concealing peaks out from behind it. This effect is caused by a quirk in the forging of the blade, resulting in the core metal forming into a unique crystalline lattice. When the user attempts to Kai, they can send a fraction of their chakra into the blade, wherein in "bounces" inside the lattice, increasing in potency. From there, the chakra returns to the user and flushes through their system like a normal Kai. The effect is most obvious on visual illusions, though other illusions are affected as well (audio illusions will have the sound cut off and on, sensations will cease and reaffirm). The cost of this ability is 1/4 of the normal Kai cost, rounded up. The effects persist for only a scant few seconds before the illusion retakes its hold, after which the user must pay the full Kai cost to fully escape.

Spoiler:
Name: Raiju Fangs
Rank: B
Type: Close-Mid (0-10M)
Appearance: A reforging of Gouka's previous set of daggers these blades are much the same as ever; two single-edge prongs with a half inch space down the middle, malformed hexagon crossguard, 10 inch length overall, though with slightly different proportions; now four inches of length are devoted to the hilt, with a small metal loop at the base of the blade, allowing for a wire to be clipped to it. The center of the crossguard features a hole in the middle, large enough to fit a finger through. The steel of the daggers has undergone more compact forging, making them slightly heavier, sturdier for close-combat, but still light enough for throwing. Of particular note is that the blades have had an additional ingredient added into them; the powdered fangs of a lightning-based summon Gouka encountered upon a mission, granting a few noteworthy qualities.
Quantity: 2
Storage: Kunai pouch or a sheathe on each thigh.
Special Abilities: Due to the additional materials used in the reforging, the weapons now possess chakra conductivity; Raiton in particular, to a greater degree, the other elements to a lesser degree. And while not particularly a special ability, the loop and clips allow for the daggers to be held in such a way that hand seals are possiblle without having to discard or sheathe the weapons.

Spoiler:
Name: Custom Black-Ops Mask
Rank: B
Type: Armor
Appearance: A fire-hardened porcelain mask, based off the type typically worn by KYOBU operatives, though with a more practical design. Instead of a protruding animal snout, the mask is designed to lie flat across the face. A few stylized designs mar the pure white of the mask, a purple lightning bolt crossing the right eye, the mouth appearing as a thin red-slit; despite the apparent solidness of the slit, it is in fact a breathing hole. The two eye holes, each designed larger than the eye to limit the hindrance on peripheral vision, are inset with glass lenses. Within the mask, across the mouth slit, a fine mesh-weave is installed, red to match the mouth slit, tight against the inside of the mask.
Quantity: 1
Storage: Worn
Special Abilities:

  • Adhesion; along the edge of the mask is a rubber-like substance that, when introduced to a small (1CP) burst of chakra, causes it to adhere to the user's face, not unlike one long, round suction cup. The sealant is air and water tight, though sufficient physical force can pull it off. Wearing it for extended periods can result in the most unusual hickey ever.
  • Reactive Lenses; the black eye-holes of the mask are actually covered by highly reactive lenses, mildly improving the wearer's eyesight, and reacting quickly to rapid changes in light levels, allowing the user to most avoid the ill-effects of flash-bang attacks.
  • Enhanced Filtration; located behind the mouth slit is an ultra-fine mesh weave of experimental material that is fine enough to filter out airborne toxins of any sort,  be it smoke or high-grade poison. It must be cleaned regularly though to maintain effectiveness, generally after several posts of exposure. Cleaning is accomplished with a simple burst-application of chakra (which can only be applied if the user removes the mask first),  though both the cost and the length of exposure the filter can withstand varies with the rank of the poison it combats, which goes as follows;

    • D/C-rank Poison: 5 posts, 3CP
    • B-rank Poison: 4 posts, 8CP
    • A-rank Poison: 3 posts, 13CP
    • S-rank Poison: 2 posts, 18CP

Spoiler:
Name: Trench Coat
Rank: C
Type: Armor
Appearance: Very simple, a long black trench coat, reaching approximately to Gouka's shins. IT can be buttoned across the chest while allowing the bottom to flare out around his legs. This, combined with the slit up the back of the coat-tails, allows the coat to be worn without hindering movement. A short collar covers the neck areas, and the long sleeves fit loosely, allowing for weapons to be concealed within them. The outside of the coat is a dark black, while the inside is a forest green; this is on account of the jacket being reversible, allowing the black-side for night missions and the green side for camouflage during day missions.
Quantity: 1
Storage: Worn
Special Abilities: Of note is that the material of the jacket is actually a light, thin kelvar. The end result is that overall, the jacket is quite flame-retardant; C-rank blazes will not overtly affect the user for short exposures, and the jacket will last at least long enough against a B-rank blaze to remove the now-burning jacket. D-rank and lower will hardly affect the coat at all, unless applied for greatly extended periods of time.

Spoiler:
Name: Knife Boots
Rank: D
Type: Weapon
Appearance: A simple size 10 set of boots, made of polished black... whatever it is boots are made of, with a combination of laces and a bucklable strap across the neck, with thick, well insulated rubber soles. Oddly thick soles, at that. The secret of these boots however, lies within theses soles. Buried within them is a mechanism which, with the proper manipulation of the toes while in the boot, cause a short, 3 inch long blade to pop out at the toe-end of the shoe, parallel with the sole. While not particularly dangerous, it can add a nasty surprise to what at first appeared to be only a glancing blow.
Quantity: 2
Storage: Worn on feet.
Special Abilities: Only the element of surprise.

Name: Tomahawk
Rank: D
Type: Main -Secondary/Medium Range
Quantity: 2
Description: The tomahawk is a relatively small axe. Its blade is crafted out of lightweight stone. The tomahawk due to its size is able to be wielded with great ease and can be stored quickly. This weapon is versatile in the fact that can be fashioned as a ranged throwing weapon, or for quick close-quarter strikes.

Profession Equipment
Name: Exploding Flechette Trap
Rank: C
Type: Close (0-5M)
Appearance: These items consist of a wooden ball, about as big as a softball, full of tiny, dart-like spikes, loosely packed around a small wooden core with a single explosive tag inside. When tossed and activated, the ball with explode, peppering the area with shrapnel, as well as providing a travel hazard for any pursuit.
Quantity: 5
Storage: Stored in pouch
Special Abilities: N/A

Supplementary Equipment
Spoiler:
Name: Fanny Pack
Rank: E
Type: Supplementary
Quantity: 1
Description: A black leather bag, a little over a foot across, with a multitude of zippered pockets and a long belt, to be worn around the waist. Can be worn with the pack in the front, or reversed, for concealment and discretion.

Name: Genso no Kuni no Shinwa to Densetsu - Myths and Legends of the Elemental Countries
Rank: E
Type: Supplementary
Quantity: 1
Contents/Appearance: A small, battered green book with well-thumbed pages, detailing some of the various myths and legends that abound the elemental countries. The sections on gods such as Susanoo, and on the legendary exploits of former Kages from across the nations, are especially well-worn.

Name: Wrist-attached Rappeller
Rank: D
Type: Close
Quantity: 2
Description: Simple pulley-device, attached to the wrist, that allows for a coil of wire to be attached. Wires can then be extended and shortened at will, a clip allowing for rappelling from them. Also has an inserted blade, to cut the wires for quick release.

Spoiler:

Name: Climbing Gear (Claws, Hook, Rope)
Rank: D
Type: Equipment
Appearance: A rather simple assortment of metal odds-and-ends, all black. The "claws" are short, curved spikes of metal, set on small, flat iron bars that can fit comfortable against the palm of the hand. The hand-claws come with a glove-like set up to be worn on the hands, while the foot-claws can simply be tied on over whatever shoes the user might be wearing. The grappling-hook is a four-point hook that can be tossed up to catch on an edge, with a length of nylon-cord rolled up and attached to it, capable of supporting the weight of a single person. Not particularly applicable as weapons, as the claws are so short that putting them to use requires such a range that simply punching or kicking the foe would be more efficient.
Quantity: 2 hand claws, 2 foot claws, iron grapple-hook, 20 feet of sturdy nylon cord.
Storage: In pouch, pockets, or fanny pack.
Special Abilities: Allows for the scaling of walls without usage of chakra, albeit slower than what could be accomplished with chakra.

Name: Yūmeina, Akumeidakai Shizoku - Famous and Infamous Clans
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Quantity: 1
Contents/Appearance: A small pamphlet listing the more well-known (Open) clans of the elemental nations, and a brief overview of the nature of their respective abilities (ie the Nara use shadows, Haretsu explode everything), though lacking specifics on any particular techniques used by the clans.
