All members of the clan are trained in Fuuinjutsu techniques.

Itonami Trees:

The Kamen clan is the only known possessors of the Itonami tree. These trees grow up to 100m tall and their leaves are known for being very potent ingredients in medicines. However the most important aspect of them would be the wood's ability to absorb and imprint chakra into itself. When enough chakra has been added to wood from these trees, the wood itself will begin to generate the same chakra on it's own as though it were a copy of the person who imprinted upon it. It was this property that has allowed the Kamen clan to create their own unique fuuinjutsu.

Personalized Mask/Block of Itonami Wood:

Each member of the clan, upon reaching the age of 4 is given a block of wood from the clan's treasured Itonami trees. The wood is 20cmx10cmx10cm and is very dark brown in colour as well as being extremely dense. Over the years they will carve that wood into their own unique mask.

Once the clan member receives their piece of the Itonami tree, they are taken to the clan's head building to participate in the imprinting ritual. This ritual then binds the wood to the user's chakra, allowing the user to always be aware of it's location no matter the distance they may be separated. In addition, the wood itself is imprinted with a special fuuinjutsu that link's itself with the clan member's life force. Should the clan member ever die, the wood will instantly be summoned to the clan storage facility ensuring it does not fall into enemy hands.Upon completion of the ritual, the clan member is then given a chisel with which they shall carve out their mask.

Carving the mask takes many years to complete. The Itonami wood is known as the densest wood in the world and the chisel given is barely able to scratch it. The chisel however, is designed that with every stroke made, it takes a bit of chakra from the user and transfers it to the wood.When carving the masks, the clan members do not put any conscious thought into the act. If asked about it, the typical response given is that "it just feels right".

Transformation Masks:

When a mask is completed, it is granted powerful and unique abilities, but all share a common trait; when worn the user's body will be forcibly changed and given a new form to reflect the mask and are granted new abilities while in this form. Masks are ranked depending on their power, state of completion and material they were designed from.

D-C Rank Masks:

These masks are made for mass production by the clan. A Mask Crafter creates them with simple materials that would create masks seen in any normal festival. These materials range from simple paper and string to ceramics depending on the craftsman and their intended use. When worn they grant predetermined abilities crafted onto them through fuuinjutsu techniques. For example, a mask of a wolf would grant the wearer either increased hearing or smell for the duration it was worn for.

Each mask has it's own pool of chakra imprinted onto it via a seal on the inside. Use of the mask drains this seal and when it is empty it will cease to function. It can be recharged with a small ritual. The seal is also limited in time and will usually expire within a 1-3 month time frame. If a mask remains uncharged for a period of a week, then it can no longer be recharged and any remaining seals on the mask will fade away.

B Rank masks:

These masks are created from very incomplete pieces of Itonami wood who's original owners died at a young age. The wood is then sent to a Mask Crafter whom tries to interpret the owner's original idea from what little there is and attempts to finish it. This process has them infusing their own chakra into the already imprinted chakra and as a result, has extremely diminished results. However these are the first masks that cause physical transformations.

When worn, the mask will fuse with the user's face and animate itself. It will also cause minor transformations across the body to try and match the creature depicted by the mask. For example, a monkey mask would cause the wearer to grow hair on most of their body and perhaps a tail. Most commonly, these masks merely enhance either physical strength or sensory skills.

Due to the chakra being unstable in it's creation, the mask has no chakra pool of it's own to draw from and instead drains chakra from the user while worn.

A Rank Masks:

These masks are fully completed and stored by the clan after the creator's death. They are only given out for important missions or by special request. Like the B rank masks, they cause the body to transform when worn, but will cause a full transformation into whatever creature the mask represents. While transformed, the wearer loses their ability to use any ninjutsu, genjutsu, medical and fuuinjutsu that they may know. Depending on their form, they may also be unable to use specific taijutsu and weaponry techniques. In exchange, they are granted new forms with unique powers. As each mask is unique it is impossible to standardize what the transformations might grant.

Each mask has it's own chakra pool that will constantly drain while worn. Using abilities granted by the mask will either drain additional chakra from the mask or from the wearer themselves. When the chakra in the mask is depleted, the user will revert to their normal body and the mask will become inert for up to 72 hours. After which it will begin to regenerate it's own chakra in a process that takes about a week to fully restore.

S rank Masks:

These masks are similar to the A rank masks with one difference. Their full potential has been unlocked and far surpass the power of any A rank mask. Creation of an S rank mask is forbidden amongst the clan however, as to do so involves the creator sealing their own soul into their mask.
