The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy:

Emerald eyes stared into the sky nervously. Kyou had never been in the Land of Tea, despite it neighboring the Fire Country. In fact, this would be his second time out of the country at all, only this time matters were completely different. Last time he'd traveled with Konoha's sennin, the man that had been the Sandaime Hokage. Their mission was also different, as it had involved the extermination, so to speak, of some "bandits" (so they called themselves). While that had been a successful mission, it was nerve-wracking. Meeting a Lord face to face always put him on edge. Did they know about him? If not, would they take him seriously if they found out? Of course, in a mission like this, which was meant to be purely diplomatic, there was little chance of being found out. The Yonbi would be kept secret, especially after the things he'd been told as a child, when it was first sealed inside of him. The importance of keeping quiet about it, especially outside of the village or around foreigners, as the information, in the wrong hands, could be used against Konoha. It wasn't so much that he cared about Konoha as a whole, but he couldn't stand the thought of being used by somebody like that.

Chewing his lip, he recalled when he was assigned this particular mission. It was initially meant for only one person, but he guessed that they didn't want to send him out alone. Whether that was due to the fact that he was a jinchuuriki or due to the fact that he would likely be reluctant to return, he couldn't say. It wasn't that fact that bothered him, but the fact that his mission partner was somebody he'd never met before. All he'd been given was a name at first, but then he'd been introduced to her before the departure. Her name was Itoshii, Nai, and to make things less stale between the two, he'd considered simply calling her Nai-chan. It didn't feel natural, no matter how many times he silently formed the syllables with his mouth, so he decided he'd go with whatever came out of his mouth first. If she asked him any personal questions on the way here, he would simply dismiss most of them. He wanted to get there, take care of the mission, and go back before things became too hectic.

Turning to face his co-representative, he tugged on his shirt while trying to think of the right words to say. He wasn't used to socializing, so that was a hurdle in itself. Though perhaps this mission would be good for his own personal development, a possibility that made him appreciate the whole situation just a little bit more. "Nai-chan," he began, pushing his earlier uncertainty away, "I'm not the best at communicating with people, so I'd appreciate it if you could step in if I'm unable to answer or respond to something, ki." He tried to be as straightforward as possible. He was mainly asking this of her to cover his own faults, but hopefully she saw it as an attempt to do what was best for the village. Strangely enough, what was best for the village and for the individuals involved was the same, which made things much more convenient. After giving her a chance to respond, he walked toward the building and pulled the mission scroll out from his bag. The "guard" at the door of the building looked toward the genin without so much as a word, as though waiting for him to continue on. Unrolling the parchment, Kyousuu showed it to the man, who looked it over for a moment before nodding and gesturing for the two to go inside.

As he stepped through the doors, the world changed. Rather, he traveled to a place that only existed in his mind. Instead of the indoors, he stood in front of a dome-shaped cage that was all too familiar. "I hope you didn't think you'd get any action today, ki," the brunette said bluntly, leaning against one of the bars. The bijuu crept forward and grabbed another of the beams, looking down at its host apathetically. While most would think the two got along if they were to see the exchange, that wasn't quite the truth. They each considered the other to be an obstacle of sorts, and while one was a simpler obstacle to best, it was difficult. The other was more complicated. It was only after some heated arguments that the two finally settled for tolerating each other's presence even if they hated each other. Constant arguing would only make it less bearable.

"What are you going to do? If the girl leaves you to do all the talking, you'll probably mess everything up. You don't know how to talk to people, and you're not really the calmest. Chances are you'll just get in the way of the exchange. I think you should just leave...or let me just crush their puny heads between my fingers."

"It's nice to know that you have faith in me, ki. You'd love nothing more than for me to let you have your fun, ki. But you already know that's not going to happen, Son Goku. Anything you do has to go through me, and right now you're sealed inside this cage, ki." The ape laughed and retreated into the darkness as Kyousuu found himself back in the building. He would wait for Nai to enter, as it was only appropriate for them to enter and introduce themselves together as the representatives from the Hidden Leaf. Kyousuu's only question was how the Lord would react to Konoha sending two rather than a single representative...

((OOC: I'm leaving this open-ended so that the others can either be there already and see Kyousuu coming in, or they can enter after the fact. Lerisia, feel free to maneuver Kyo behind Nai in your post a little bit, as he'd go with her to introduce himself to Lord Koicha.))

It hadn't been that long a while ago ever since Nai had become a genin of Konoha, graduating with little to no excellence to her name, unlike others who quickly proved themselves to their superiors. She wouldn't count the days since her graduation with her fingers and toes, of course, but the pinkette was sure that experience, outside of the academy, wasn't her strong point. In fact, she knew she had none of it at all! The young Itoshii considered her graduation as a brand new phase in her life and even with the training that the academy had given her, was certain she still needed so much more before being pushed into any kind of mission.

With that mindset tucked into one part of her brain, somehow though, Nai had been assigned to one that had some sort of importance tagged to it (her sister had laughed when she unknowingly spilled the summary of said mission, telling her that talking and debating were far less important than outright assassination, to which Nai's response was throwing a cup water to her sibling's face, afterwards laughing jovially at the reaction she derived from it), and without even having the chance to swallow the fact just yet, the pinkette was sent off with her partner, a genin that went by the name of Kyousuu Tanaka, towards the small yet economically powerful country of Cha no Kuni. At first, the young girl was quite unsure; of the many genins that resided in Konoha, how did she even land in this assignment in the first place? She wasn't an exceptional girl to begin with, and her skill set was nothing to boast about. But nevertheless, a direct order was what is was, an order, and as a kunoichi in the service of Konoha, Nai had no choice but to follow it, taking the task without so much as a complaint. And besides, she thought to herself, the objective itself had no such inkling of any kind of combat (other than a verbal one, which she didn't mind at all), one that she was eternally grateful for.

Regardless, this was the first time that Nai had ever experienced leaving the village (and the country as well, even with a country just below Hi no Kuni in terms of geographical location), provoking the young girl's excitement to manifest with goosebumps, hair rising at the mere thought of travelling to another land. She was particularly ecstatic at the prospect of traversing an unknown region of the world, eyes shining radiantly as she glanced at every possible direction as they travelled, taking in the sights that greeted them towards their objective's location.

Still, this was a mission, and after telling herself that truth for the millionth time, found it in her to glance at her partner to occupy the dwindling time they had before reaching their destination. Even after having been enlightened of their task, and after finding out that they were to do this together, the two would only formally meet on the day of their departure. He seemed polite enough, but that was probably due to the fact that this was their first meeting and it was happening only because of a mission. Nai didn't mind though, accepting it all in stride. And unbeknownst to her, while the other genin had an internal turmoil over her name, Nai had no difficulties in calling the boy Kyou-kun, having taken a page out of his own intention to call her with the 'chan' suffix. Indeed, she settled in that comfortable zone, perking up with a few loose words every now and then, taking note of his silence as a positive answer to all of her forgotten queries. She didn't really mind that he hadn't commented on any of those, thinking it in a sign of his intense concentration for their task. Of course, of course, that had to be it! He was focused with the mission, and as the other representative of Konoha, she really should show more professionalism about that!

"Nai-chan,"

She was roused at the sound of her name, clearing her thoughts as she turned her head delicately towards her companion.

"I'm not the best at communicating with people, so I'd appreciate it if you could step in if I'm unable to answer or respond to something, ki."

The words passed through her with the simple understanding that he wanted what was best for their village. This was a mission that Konoha had given the two, and in that event, they had to do whatever it took to accomplish it in a way that favoured Konoha. Nai's optimism shone bright, thinking that the boy held the same thought process as her, causing the genin to let out a huge smile in response. "No worries, Kyou-kun." she finally said, nodding in a way that she hoped conveyed that sense of camaraderie between the two. In the end, this was still an undertaking that they were tasked to complete. With that out of the way, he headed towards the guard, and she waited behind for the most part, watching him procure the mission scroll given to them before their departure and showing it to the man, moving to follow only when they were allowed, at which she entered alongside her fellow genin, steps light and quiet as they entered the structure that would house them.

The walk towards the main room where it would be held didn't take too long a time, the halls their quiet audience as they traversed the path they were told to take. After a few minutes of walking and passing through more than enough statues of their host (probably, Nai wasn't entirely sure to be totally honest), the two had finally reached the room they were told to seek; grand mahogany doors greeting both of them, with two guards posted at both sides of that particular entrance. The men, standing with the utmost silence and stillness, knew full well why Nai and Kyousuu were there, without asking the genins themselves, seeing the symbol carved upon their hitai-ate. With a nod towards each other, they opened the doors, pushing it to reveal to their visitors where they were to settle themselves in.

Even if Nai wanted to say anything (and truthfully, she should, instead of having the audacity to gawk at her surroundings), the girl couldn’t, remaining hushed all the way towards their assigned seats. The genin honestly did not know that the room would look like what it looked like, filled to the brim with items of expense that a girl of her class wouldn’t dream of owning even if she tried her hardest to earn them. Four small, separate tea tables made from the finest mahogany, all polished and gleaming, their dark chocolate colour shinning had welcomed them as they entered, with the one directly north of the room elevated a few inches above the flooring covered in tatami mats, most likely where the Lord would sit to observe the debate. The remaining three were equal in their position, only differing with the spot they were set at. It seemed that each village had their own location, with the east, south and west for Kiri, Konoha and Kumo respectively. Banners of their villages had been prepared as well, pinned upon the walls precisely behind where the representatives would sit upon. For that other detail, a different kind of mat (varying only in colour, if anything) had been provided for each tea table, and then and there, Nai saw a little bit of problem for the one set up at their own. The mission description had specified that one representative would come on behalf of their village, and in effect, the set-up had been exactly that, for one specific person alone. This wouldn't do, of course. Either one of them would have to stand during the whole duration of the debate, or one would have to leave.

The pinkette had a different idea in mind, and instead of taking the first two options that presented itself in her head, took a third. Making sure that Kyousuu had already seated himself, she approached the nearest attendant to their table, bowing a bit to the female that was unlucky enough to be in her initial vicinity. "Excuse me... I was wondering if I could get another mat? You see, I don't think we'd both fit with the one we were given," she motioned to her companion, making sure not to point and instead making it look like it was more of a off-handed gesture than anything. "If it would be possible, of course." Nai was rewarded with a raised eyebrow, though whether from her request or just because she had the gall to ask, the genin didn’t know, as the attendant hurried herself away, leaving the girl baffled for a moment, before returning with what Nai had asked, placing it neatly beside where Kyousuu sat. The table itself was, thankfully, big enough that it didn’t matter if there were two of them instead of one.

She took a seat then, and wondered, ultimately, what the Lord would think upon seeing the two of them instead of what he had asked. Though the one good thing about this was the fact that their host hadn't shown up yet. At least neither here nor her companion had to make a fool of themselves in front of him, that was for sure.

notes!! I hope no one minds that I described the room itself, I'm not entirely sure what it's supposed to look like so I made up some stuff? It's sorta but not really partly based on a typical Japanese room, just expanded to have four tables instead of the usual one, since we're in the Tea County and all?? Also, I sort of included that the Lord hasn't arrived yet, but left it open for the next two to either already be in their seats or come in late! And yeah, that's it I think.

With eyes close shut the young man enjoyed the sweet fragrance of the slightly warm tea which hover just inches from his nose. Two pale hands held the small blue tea cup in place as he took in the aroma of the tea. It was unlike any he had ever had before which help to add one more new experience from this journey. Being born and raised within Kirigakure he had visit many of the territory in Mizu No Kuni, but this was his first time ever leaving his misty land behind him. Oddly it made him feel more uneasy then he had originally thought.

The trip itself was enjoyable enough as much of it took place moving from ship to ship to reach the goal on the main land. It wasn’t that he didn’t care for the view of the sea as it was truly lovely to watch the glistening waves under the evening sun. However the trip took a painful turn when he learn he easily became seasick when he tried to study his notes for the mission while on the ship. Which caused the second half of the ship ride a horrible experience. Ryuuji would be forced to wait till reaching the main land to study during the horse drawn carriage to the capital of Cha No Kuni.

The carriage had been a part of the trip that Ryuuji had protested against but lost in the end. Because of his Hyuuga noble heritage they believed he should travel as such. It was, for lack of better words, overkill in Ryuuji opinion. This critical way of thinking was only strengthen by his escort who happen to be his older cousin from within the Hyuuga main clan. Even though the elders might have said he was there to escort him Ryuuji knew his true mission was to simple watch over the Hyuuga true treasure: Ryuuji eyes. What a easy target a genin would have made alone in such a big ninja world.

Opening his eyes a last Ryuuji would take a small slip of the tea as he sighed deeply. He was alone within the large room that would be used for the little game of Diplomacy war. Aside for a few maids who was working to ready the other tables he was alone in a new land. The reason for this was his cousin, who knew Ryuuji far better then had originally though, for if left alone for to long would have most likely ran off skirt chasing. For that reason he was hurried rushed to the meeting ground and told not to leave till it was over and then just a quickly was left alone! Another sigh would escape his lips as looked around once more.

Growing bored Ryuuji would spin the end of his long braided hair around in a slow spin as he waited. His mind would run over details of this and that as he wonder why this land leader would go to such length for such a thing. It all seemed just to much, in his opinion anyways. The logical choice would obvious be Hi No Kuni as they shared the same border. In the end this seemed like nothing move then a ego trip of a ruler who hope to watch others dance as he dangle a prize over their head. A dancing contest that Ryuuji planned to win.

Just then at long last it seemed movement was beginning to happen outside as he heard voices for the first time in what seemed like forever. Moving back into a proper sitting position Ryuuji gray eyes watch as a young man and girl enter the room. The male providing little interest was quickly over looked as the girl became to main target. A pinked haired beauty it would seemed, under normal circumstances she would have became his goal, but not this time. There was work to be done. Ryuuji would smiled friendly at the two, but would no rise or say a word, only watched. However he was shocked as he watch as both sat not different tables, but at the same! How interesting he thought to himself as he slipped his tea.

Now just two people was missing the: The representative of Kumogakure and the Lord himself. Ryuuji would scoff at this. Nobles… their all the same. the cold words would floated through his head as he simply waited.

:As it has been well over 48 hours I went head and posted. I am also sorry it took longer then was needed, and promise the reason will come in a more timely manner.:

PostSubject: Re: [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy EmptyFri 07 Jun 2013, 8:05 pm

Ba-dum.

Kyou's heart skipped a beat the moment he laid eyes on the vast room. It wasn't that he was uncertain of his reason for being there, or worried that his company would be insufficient in helping him to successfully complete the mission. It was simply that the room, as large as it was and with so few people in it, reminded him of the hall he'd been in as a child, waiting for the judgement of the higher ups upon his parents' offering of him as host for what would potentially become one of Konoha's greatest weapons. The same feeling he'd experienced back then - fear - had crept in at the reminder, and it took a great deal of self-control to push it away. He had to remind himself that he was no longer that helpless child, even if there were plenty of shinobi in the world that could easily kill him through various means. There was no doubt in his mind that one day he would meet such a shinobi, but before then, he aimed to best any opponent that came his way and clear any obstacle within the first few tries, if not the first. This meeting fell under the latter, as there was really only one chance to do it right.

To make matters easier, he saw that the only other person in the room that could possibly be a representative was the one sitting at the table designated for Kirigakure no Sato. He sat rather silently and only briefly glanced at Kyou, whereas his gaze settled on Nai just a bit longer. That was to be expected, as the girl was rather good-looking. Even though he couldn't deny that fact, he knew that his judgement would remain sound around her, as he was rather apathetic when it came to girls. There was no representative present for Kumogakure, though, and that allowed him to relax a little. Of course, there was no telling how persuasive the other male could be, but the genin liked to think that his matter-of-fact way of relaying information would work well enough in this scenario, even if he'd never truly experienced a debate for himself. Any decisions made around him were choices he didn't have a part in selecting. There was also the fact that he wasn't alone, even if the thought of having to rely on somebody else bothered him. His desire to succeed dwarfed his anti-social tendencies, which in most cases ended up being a positive development.

Resisting the urge to break the silence between the tables, he turned his attention back to Nai, who had, after ensuring that Kyo took his seat, walked over to an attendant to ask for another mat. Though it was tempting to have her take the mat from Kumo's table, he knew that wasn't very appropriate and would probably be seen as an insult to said village. The only reason he cared to take that into consideration was that the Lord would have to view him as a good enough person and shinobi, possibly, to agree to do business with Konoha. That alone was sufficient motivation for the jinchuuriki.

As Nai took her seat next to him, the attendant offered them tea. With as polite a nod as he could muster, Kyou accepted. It was best to indulge in what they had to offer, especially with regards to the tea. It was Cha no Kuni, after all, and was named such for a reason. While waiting for the woman to return, the genin glanced over to the Kiri representative. He had brown hair, not unlike Kyo's own, but grey, no, close to white eyes. This caused him raise an eyebrow, but not in a condescending manner. No, he was rather interested. The only people he'd seen with eyes in that color range were Hyuuga. If that was the case with this other shinobi, it was an interesting development indeed, as he remembered being taught that most, if not all, Hyuuga resided in Konoha. Perhaps there was something in the clan's history that resulted in some either starting families elsewhere, or perhaps they simply moved with their existing relatives. It wasn't quite that important, but he couldn't keep himself from giving the guy a few inquisitive looks, his long eyelashes appearing almost seductive when coupled with his narrowed eyes.

It was then that the sound of doors opening drew his attention away from the other male and toward the back of the room, where some attendants emerged, followed by whom he guessed was Lord Koicha. Taking it as a cue to stand and go through the formalities, he stood and suppressed a moan and a subsequent laugh as the man was introduced by a rather squeaky-sounding male attendant. Once the lord had taken his seat, he made a gesture to indicate that the shinobi should introduce themselves. Kyousuu didn't think that his name was important, even more so because he didn't have a kekkei genkai associated with his name, let alone did he actually have one to speak of. Nonetheless, the situation demanded that he comply.

"It's good to see you, Lord Koicha. I am Tanaka Kyousuu of the Hidden Leaf." Though he had expected a nod, the man rubbed his chin in thought, looking at Nai. It was clear he was curious about her presence there, with good reason, but the brunette wasn't quite sure what to say. He started it off with the hopes that the girl would think of a way to finish the statement without making the two of them look silly. "This is Itoshii, Nai. She was assigned an accompanying position ..." he stated confidently, leaving room for her to interject. After she'd done so, the man would turn to the Hyuuga and wait for his introduction before continuing on.

"It seems that our friend from Kumogakure won't be showing up today," he said indifferently as he glanced toward the empty mat, "which is fine by me. Now I only have to choose between Konoha and Kiri." Pausing for a moment to gather his thoughts, he motioned for an attendant to bring him a scroll, likely on which he would take notes or read from to ensure that the meeting went without too much delay. "This man will be taking down your arguments. Now... impress me." Unsure of where to begin, Kyou cast a sideways glance at Nai, hoping she'd have the sense to find a starting point. If not, things could end up looking quite grim, too soon.

((OOC: Shykewolf is being eliminated from the topic, so rather than waiting again, Ryuuji should just post after Lerisia.))

PostSubject: Re: [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy EmptySun 09 Jun 2013, 9:59 am

Having positioned herself neatly beside Kyousuu, a second, more extensive (like the first wasn't) look at the room would enlighten Nai of another presence beside their own, and upon closer inspection, the boy that passed her earlier scrutiny seemed to have come from Kiri, considering that he silently sat some ways to their right. She registered the fact that the male was far earlier than they, inciting her to let out a sigh, even as she knew for a fact that it had no actual bearing on today's event given that they were all present before their host had arrived. Still, as per her bubbly personality, the pinkette flashed the brunette a small smile, discarding the fact that he would be vying for the attention of the lord as the two Konoha genin, all in the name of their respective countries.

But regardless of that underlying detail, it was still a thrilling thought for Nai to find herself sitting in a room that completely defined what nobility was and seeing how having monetary power would feel like; the sensation of softness the mat provided her as she sat, granting her legs with the wanted feeling of relaxation. With the tea that the attendants served them, an aroma of pleasurable content wafting amongst the air, she had a very much satisfied expression rest upon her features, letting the porcelain touch her lips and taking a sip of tea, allowing the liquid to take a journey down her throat as she savoured a delicate sweetness that she won't soon forget.

Of course the little daydream she had immersed herself in had to end in some way and, unfortunately for Nai, it was through their host's presence, entering the room with his own set of attendants. This was an indication for them to stand, and she did so only a second later than her companion, listening to one of the attendants announced their host to them. This bearded man was the lord they were to please then, and other than the fact that she seemed to derive a jovial personality from this man, hidden beneath a stern countenance and white beard, Nai didn't think it too hard a task to accomplish. Then again, she didn't know him other than what she could see now, so there really were no guarantees. When that was said and done, it was their turn to introduce themselves, and Kyousuu came up first. As he had finished, the young girl was about to speak, but seeing as their host had taken to staring at her, he pushed on.

"This is Itoshii, Nai. She was assigned an accompanying position ..."

"... in order to lend a supporting role in today's activity." she supplied, having taken a hint from both Kyou's trailing statement and the man's inquisitive gaze at her company. And really, she couldn't blame him, knowing that he had specified only one representative to embody each of the villages he had invited. Nevertheless, she should probably explain herself. "These are dangerous times and Konoha would not wish to lose any of their shinobi..." she had nodded slightly towards the direction of the still missing representative, implication heavy in the air. In Nai's mind, she was silently thanking whoever it was as she was able to use his or her absence as an excuse, though to say that their host would fully accepted that justification was a different matter entirely. Still, the young girl hoped that it was enough of an explanation for her presence, even if she was partly afraid that her words would cause the man to view Konoha in a negative light, all because of her words. In her mind, there was nothing wrong with what she had said, but the lord of Cha no Kuni was someone who may have a different way of thinking.

Still, even without knowing that she was holding her breath, he dismissed her explanation. That is to say, he turned his head to his next target, letting the young girl breathe a little sigh of relief, making sure it was minimally seen by everyone else. With that roadblock passed quiet soundly, and after their host seemed to take note, rather, have his attendant make a note of the three shinobi, he sat down, effectively making them follow suit. And after a few more words, in which he solidified the status of the Kumogakure representative, he said the three words that would start the discussion.

"Now... impress me."

An immobile silence permeated the room then, and the pinkette took a quick look at Kyousuu who had also done so towards her. A jumbled mess of words had firmly occupied Nai's head then, composing themselves together without making any kind of sense. Before anything else, she needed to organize her thoughts. Alright then... the mission specified that they needed to gain the approval of the man, and his words deemed it an importance. They needed to establish why Konoha was a more viable choice than Kiri, and to do so, they had to paint a positive portrait of their own village. The genin stole a quick glance at the Kiri representative, who may have his own ideas forming, and swallowed the bile forming creeping up her throat, preparing herself to speak.

Nai didn't stand, though she did bow before speaking, signalling that she had an opinion she wished to share. And in debates like this, that was all they had. Therefore, "If I may, Lord Koicha," she then started, glancing once more to her side, before turning her head towards their host, making sure to appear confident and convinced of her own words, so as to do the same to the man. "Konoha wishes to acquire the support of your country of Cha and in return, we can provide our shinobi military for your employ in any of your more dangerous tasks. Given that our countries share a border, this can easily be easily arranged in a way that won't waste any time on both our parts." Nai paused for a moment, continuing as she gulped any doubts down, "At the same time, our shinobi are versatile enough to accomplish any mission in any topography," another short pause, "But they will undoubtedly excel most in places quite similar to Hi no Kuni, and one such is your Cha no Kuni." Nai ended it at that for the meanwhile, carefully awaiting a response from their opponent.

(Greeting! I'll be managing Lord Koicha Natsume for the remainder of the RP. I would've done sooner, but I was under the impression Kumogakure would be attending. Adam did not inform me until recently that Shyke's participation was no longer valid, hence the delay. Not only will I be playing the old man, but it will be under my decision on which side ultimately wins the Tea Country's interest. I will begin posting after Ryuuji's post, and from there the post order will be set.)

Ryuuji attention would be drawn toward to the far door as the sounds of footsteps echo around the room. The large doors would open following the footsteps relieving the Lord of this land. As if a instant reaction to the event Ryuuji would raise to his feet and placed a arm parallel to his chest toward the Lord. It was a movement he had done countless times in his younger days back in his home land in front of other nobles. The large man would take his seat at the large table and wasted no time in telling them all to introduce themselves and begin the debate. Taking a quick look around the room Ryuuji was already unhappy with how things look. The representative of as it seemed would not be joining the debate this day and much of Ryuuji plan fell apart at this. He had been hoping to slowly place the two village against each other and then quickly steal the win at the very end. Alas he would have to reform his plans and just hit them with everything right from the start.

Still standing he would listen as the other two would introduce themselves, giving a slight smile at learning the pink one name. Soon it would come his turn as he gave his best smile toward the Lord along with a small bow. “Good evening Lord Koicha. My name is Ryuuji of the Hyuuga clan and I’ll be the representing Kirigakure in our little debate this day.” His words would be calm and smooth as if he was talking to a old friend. Giving one more smile he would soon take his seat and picking his tea cup up once more. He could tell just by the Lord eyes that Konohagakure was to go first so he would just sit and listen.

From the sound of it the boy wasn’t much of a talker as he lead the sentence off allowing for the girl to pick up for him. Ryuuji would rise a eyebrow at this as it was a odd thing to do, but it seemed the girl was more then capable to finished the job. Everything he fear was there in her sentences as she pointed out many, if not all the best things, Hi no Kuni had to offer. Taking another slip of his tea he knew a way to bounce the debate into his grace, but it would require him to use some underhanded words. He would give a gentle smile at the last of the girl words as it was now his turn. Placing the cup down he would begin. “My lord, while Itoshii speaks the truth, Kirigakure understands that your needs go well beyond gaining military power. In fact, if there is anything that you want to avoid, it's suddenly becoming involved in the combat of various nations. I'll do my best to highlight on Kirigkure's advantages.” he stopped to take a breath “Itoshii started off with Konohagakure's military prowess, which, without a doubt is mighty, however, as I understand it, this is an economic alliance, not one to wage war. Without discrediting Konohagakure's military power, I'd like to add that Kirigakure has more than enough power to accomplish anything military related, but let's not make that our focus. Distance. We all know that Kirigkure is hardly close to the Land of Tea, and yet, is that a disadvantage? Allow me to explain my point. Recently there was a serious threat to the diplomats of both Kirigakure and Kumogakure. Despite the distance advantage Kumogakure held over our head, Kirigakure was the first to show up on the scene. The distance does not mean that trade is compromised. We're separated by the sea, and let's not forget that Kirigakure has alwys focused its economy and military both on just that. We'll be able to get anywhere on the globe at top speed, accomplishing any kind of diplomatic or economic task it engages in." Ryuuji would paused once more to move onto his next topic.

Second, I'd like to focus on the growing importance of economy. In Kirigakure's effort to clear its rather harsh history, our latest Mizukage has been passing legislature that presses for higher and higher quality in the economy. We want nothing but the best, including the Land of Tea. In a sense, an alliance between our nations would be the first real alliance Kirigakure has had with the outside world. Never has Kirigakure taken advantage of a business partner, it goes against our entire way of living. Business, or the mission, is our top priority. If Kirigakure has been able to name itself one of the five great nations without stable, consistent help of the other nations, think of what it could do with the help of one of the most pure nations. And lastly, an alliance with Kirigakure would do wonders to help clean the name of the Mist Village. Making friends with the friendliest nation can only receive praise. Kirigakure would be much obliged to open their gates to your nation in peaceful and mutually beneficial trade. His voice floated smoothly and with a hint of seductively. This would end his second point as his eyes would glace over at his two opponents. Quickly looking back at the Lord he would smile friendly.I hope my view on things has helped here, lord. If you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to answer to the best of my ability.

The large, pale-haired man would listen with a quiet if imposing aura, deciphering the spoken words of the two parties. It was a shame Kumogakure had not been able to make it to the negotiations. What a wonder for the debate had it been a three-way diplomatic feud. Still, his blood was beginning to boil, the Lord of the Tea country reveling in the beginning pitches. Yes, and best of all, it was his words which would give weight to which side would be victorious. Of course, excitement aside, Koicha Natsume took seriously not only the debate but the future it would bring to his country. He would not judge lightly.

And so he listened as they sat, first to Konoha's pledge of support and evidence towards the close proximity to the adjacent land. Certainly, their bordering on his own land did make for easy trade and military support a quick responsiveness was a valued quality. But this positions accuracy was then questioned by the Kiri boy who protested that the noteworthy distance between Kirigakure would keep them from being as, if not more useful, citing the Kumogakure incident. It had not been an event his country had become involved with, but he had heard enough. "Hmm..." He would raise a cup and sip the crisp, fresh tea his aid had poured him, letting the liquid enlighten his old taste buds, taking a moment to savor it all before responding to the groups. "...Firstly, I have rarely if ever questioned the military might of the land of Mist. I think few have, else risk being invaded so your country might prove a point." He'd remark with a soft chuckle, before continuing. "However, I'm afraid HAVE read something of Kirigakure's history, and I'm afraid I am not confident in your village's stability. Forgive any offense by my words, but your people have a history or racism, anarchy and single-minded conquest. Now, forgive my hesitation to be a subject of repeated occurrences. Your economic and military strengths are appealing, but I will not give my country to barbarians incapable of empathy or flexible in their affairs." He would clear his throat, taking another sip of tea, before looking now to the Konohagakure representatives.

"That being said, allow me to make it clear that I do not wish relations without substance. Konohagakure has never sent aid to my country in times of strife before now, despite close proximity you recently cited and frankly has me questioning their ability to perform as a power and as a shinobi village. For example, let us say, hypothetically of course, that tommorow another great Shinobi nation were to declare war on us for some random political anomaly. Can you tell me that you would be willing to defend my nation as fiercely as your own?" Koicha were inquired, raising an eyebrow with a questioning gaze.

He would pause to take another sip of his tea, smiling to himself as he once more savored the fine and crisp flavor. "...My country is not a poor one. I am very proud of that. Our exports are desired across the lands. If you wish to marry into the Tea Countries affairs, you're going to have to presents yourselves with a little more clarity and promise if you wish to when this debate, my friends." The wryly old man informed them. At the moment, he cared not for one side more than the other. It would be the job of these children to convince him otherwise.

PostSubject: Re: [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy EmptyFri 14 Jun 2013, 7:55 am

It was with great relief that Kyousuu listened to his mission partner list some of the benefits of having Konoha's business. Kyou, not being one to care much for the happenings and the politics of his own village, wouldn't have been able to deliver that information with such a convincing tone, let alone the information at all. In that sense, he was grateful that they hadn't sent him alone to do this, though it was highly probable that they knew he'd be the weaker of the two in the debate. After all, he wasn't known for his oratory, but for his attitude and military uses, which had yet to be worked with. The genin was far from being a pragmatic thinker, though. Stifling an amused snort, he kept his eyes on Nai until she finished, after which his gaze darted toward the Hyuuga. Despite the girl giving a rather sound argument (from the brunette's perspective), Kiri wouldn't have just sent any genin to get the job done. It was imperative that Tea Country's business go to either of the two countries, and as such they'd have to send at least one person that they considered to be capable of succeeding.

Pressing his tongue to his teeth, he did his best to sit calmly while waiting for the Kiri nin to get through his speech. It was a rather interesting phenomenon... Kyousuu, while not very fond of his own village at all, still found some stinging in the other's words. Not because of the damage to Konoha's potential business, but simply because he was the kind of person that innately wanted to be better than others. If Kiri's representative would go that route, then he would do so as well. Of course, the only problem was that he really didn't know much about Kiri at all, only the rumors he'd heard while walking through the village. Those gossip-hungry citizens could hardly be considered a reliable source, and he didn't want to use what he'd learned from them... so his only option was to highlight some of the things he was confident about. Interestingly enough, as Lord Koicha relayed his thoughts on the initial exchange, he found pleasure in hearing that the man thought that Kiri was "barbaric", which was certainly not an adjective that Kyousuu would find himself using. On the other hand, the leader had also expressed some doubts in Konoha, which made the genin nervous, as if he was being put on the spot and his capabilities being questioned.

"As if I'd really waste my time for the likes of this guy," rang the voice in his head. With a sigh, the brunette pushed the beast away, opting to ignore him rather than entertain a useless argument. He had more pressing matters to attend to. That statement, however, was all it took to remind him what he stood for, what he fought for, and what had brought him to this point. His long eyelashes flitted upwards as he focused his gaze on the daimyo.

"You see, Lord Koicha..." he paused for a brief moment to gather his thoughts. The strange thing was the sudden change in his attitude. When it came down to the most important things, the jinchuuriki was one to speak from his heart rather than his mind, and it was evident in the words he chose and the way he relayed them. "It's true that Konoha has, in the past, not been as helpful as it could have been, but as of late I have seen changes occur in the village. The people in it seem to be willing to do whatever it takes to protect not just their ideals, but that's important to them and the village." Glancing at Nai, he continued. "I, as part of that village, am just as willing. I won't say that I'd put my life on the line, though, because I know that I wouldn't be any good to anybody if I were dead. There are some things that would surface in my death that are best kept locked away, in a place where they can be controlled." He sipped the tea in front of him so that his words could begin to sink in.

"Lord Koicha, Konohagakure no Sato wishes to offer you not only our strength, as Nai-chan explained, but the dedication that comes with the Will of Fire burning in the hearts of the shinobi." Though it was difficult for him to say those words without feeling guilty, he certainly managed. After all, most of it was the truth. The shinobi he'd met all had their goals, and with those objectives in mind, gave it their all. Of course, to him, it wasn't the village or even this connection with the Tea Country that was important, but something entirely different and more personal. Even so, he hoped that it would be enough to net him at least a small victory next to the words of his companion and those of their rival representative.

After speaking her thoughts, and in turn, starting (or at least having followed the order to start) the event for which they were gathered together, it was in Nai's best interest to halt into a silence that she was very much willing to indulge, complying herself to now listen closely (intently) at the words of the next speaker, ears perking up as pink irises rested themselves upon the Kiri representative. Drawing upon her features what she hoped was a neutral expression(though a close examination would show taut lips slowly but surely casted slightly down and quivering, almost grimacing), Nai continued her own form of scrutiny towards the brown-haired boy, though her purpose was more than just judging his words in light of her given points. The girl knew what a debate had in store for its participants, and while the reward for this particular one was the cooperation of a powerful country, she couldn't help but realize just now with a startling halt (like an electric jolt on bare skin), as he highlighted of each of her unclear points (words sizzling on contact), using them almost like footholds and adding to them layers of lucidity that he could muster, expanding fact with more than enough statements that she may have as well thrown herself out of the room for not even having attempted to be a little more obvious with her own.

Nevertheless, Nai had sat still, silently, eyes now shut tight as she took little sips of tea from her cup while listening to the response the Kiri representative had for them, taking each in without much fuss. Uneasiness bit her for a short while, but that was to be expected at gatherings like this, where one had to pit their own mind against another and currently, it was his turn to showcase his argument for the lord. When his long speech had finally ended, Nai would open her eyes to see their host move and after a few moments, speak at last, commenting on their opening statements with a bluntness that was common with people in power like his. While he had quite the view with Kiri (she chose not to think about it now, though kept what the man said in her mind, not that she could even use those words as a retaliatory strike for something), he had nothing positive to remark about her own village, and for the genin, that was all thanks to her lacklustre statements.

The only thing that was even remotely acceptable about their current standing, in her opinion, was the fact that what they had said had little effect on their host, who wanted an absolute, concrete declaration of their intention from his guests. Of course he would ask them of that, it was his country, his support that they were all vying for, and as a leader, he was obliged to agree to nothing else but the best for his own village. All the same, Nai didn't think it that easy to gain his approval, taking into heart the commentary he threw outlandishly, spending that time explaining his wish for his country, along with a question that hung thick around them, a curious proclamation that demonstrated his fervent display to pick only the best option he could. It was Kyousuu who answered that particular query, on behalf of their village, stating 'the Will of Fire' and his own observations of their village. As a Konoha shinobi, she wholeheartedly agreed with his accounts, though the only outward air of her understanding was a momentary look towards his direction, a fluttering feeling of pride burrowing itself deep in her stomach, before turning back to their host with a silence that, while would seem questionable, only showcased the impact that the male's words had.

notes!! wow I am so sorry for this late and quite frankly dumb post.

Like the rest Ryuuji sat and only listen with his eyes closed and waited till it was all over. It was as he though, the Lord would not be won over with only a few hand pick words. Worst yet it seemed the Lord had done some digging of his own and learn a great deal about the history of the Kirigakure. A dark and most upsetting one which many of the Land of Mizu No Kuni would be more then happy to forget. A odd smile would slowly form on the young man face as the last of the words left the Lord lips. There wasn’t any joy in the man words but he thought what the others from his “Prideful” clan would have said in this situation. The many faces and actions which appeared within his mind was enough to make him laugh out loud if he had not the self-control to handle himself.

His gray eyes would quickly move to the young man from Konohagakure as he heard him speak this time. It seemed he had a bit more to say this time around. Ryuuji would rise a eyebrow at the boy words as it seemed he was trying to keep a secret, but yet hint at it. Such a odd kid he thought to himself as it would grow silent once more. Moving slightly in his sit Ryuuji knew it had come time for him to speak once more. Taking one more look around the room he gather his thoughts before forming the words within his mind. The pink beauty Itoshii spoke of facts as it seem the young man Kyousuu spoke from the heart to prove their points; Ryuuji could do no less if he hoped to win this battle.

“It is true, My Lord.” Ryuuji would begin. “Kirigakure has had a rather harsh history, and one that we, today, are not proud of. That is why the current Mizukage is placing legislature on top of legislature to stop any kind of single minded tyranny like that again. He's instituted a four man council, for example, converting Kirigakure into the most democratic of the five great nations to this date.” The words would fly from his lips but this time full of pride.

“There is not a single nation that has not dipped its toes in dark dealings in their past, it seems, but that does not mean that they are forever stuck that way, are they? Kirigakure has finally become ready to branch out into the world, make its friendships. Our political structure used to be night and day from what it is now, when the nation and village both were but infants, and because of that instability, leaders were able to assume unlimited power. There was racism and internal wars…” His words would trails off a bit at this subject. However there would be no sadness on his face, only a deep smile.

“But that has all come to an end! We are placing more active patrols on market activities, fishing out the illegalities. As I mentioned, we're upping the required level of quality that flows through our market. Our Mizukage is even cracking down on the black market and breaking it down into shambles. We're replacing the negative assets with the positive assets and trying to make an entrance. We've remained hidden from the rest of the world, our Mizukage thinks it's time that's changed!” He would end the last of this statement with a slight smile as he locked eyes with the Lord.

“However if you wish for more proof then I shall be it!” He said with much pride as he put a open hand on to his chest. “A mere decade ago someone of my race would have never even been chosen, much less even consider, to be allowed the task I have been given this day. Thanks to Mizukage Inoshi the village have been, for lack of a better word, reborn. Now there are more Kekkei Genkai Shinobi enrolled in our Academy then non Kekkei Genkai, currently. The same can even be said about our Council.” he would stop once more to take a breath. Allowing time for the Lord to take in all he had said.

“You seemed to know much of our past My Lord, but this isn’t about the past, but the future. A future that we of Kirigakure and the people Mizu No Kuni are all working hard toward. A future that we wish to share with you my Lord.” He said this time with a friendly voice as held a hand out as a act of friendship.

PostSubject: Re: [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy EmptyThu 20 Jun 2013, 10:53 pm

"Ah, the burning Will of Fire I've heard so much of...Ya know, decades ago, when the leaf was still budding, I would not have doubted such a will." The old man remarked, reminiscing now on the past. "Of late, it appears that flame has been smothered. But, you say it has been ignited again? One can only hope. For your village's sake." The Lord rambled with a chuckle. Yes, he had a few old friends still in the leaf he occasionally played shogi and shared tea ceremonies with. But fewer and fewer of them remained in contact or lived still. No, his relationship with the leaf village was not what it once was. The world changed, and the Tea country needed to take the best path with that change. The young boy needed to do better than recite old philosophic leaf creeds to inspire Koicha.

His eyes turned to the girl, the chaperone, who was silent and forthcoming. Her face was less revealing and controlled than her fellow, who seemed uncertain and somewhat vague in his words. Distracted, even. Or maybe the Lord was getting old in his age, and seeing things in people that were not there. Regardless, the Kunoichi was offering nothing in addition, which left him wondering if Konoha was serious in this investment. Indeed, he questioned whether either village truly valued his business, sending mere Genin for diplomatic negotiations. In comparison to the leaf, the boy Ryuuji was positively alit with assurances of change in policy, citing specific examples and illustrating a far more complete vision of his village than that of the leaf. A smile would actually show on the old man's face as he listened to the Kiri Genin. Oh, it wasn't diplomatic gold, but it was an effort for impact and satisfying his desire to hear a good pitch. He wasn't totally convinced of Kiri's redemption from it's poorer administrations, but it was certainly more appealing than being reminded of the Will of Fire.

"Well spoken, Shinobi." The Lord of the Tea Country told the boy, not a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "And it is the future I want. But..." Koicha did not reach for the child's hand. "Bloody palms require more optimism to wash away. How do I know Kiri will respect my village's independence and not prey upon our military weakness?" Koicha would bluntly ask the boy. "To be sure, safety from preying larger powers is key to this meeting. Yet how will I know that my countries Guardians will not devour us whole?" Kiri was well known as being an expansionist, and there rumors, even now, of their intentions which unsettled him. Most were rumors, of course, but there were grains of truth in bags of falsehood. "Has leaf anything to say? Of the future, or perhaps reasons why I shouldn't be lending my ear to the Mist? Hmm?" Koicha would ask, prompting the Leaf into actions. He didn't want to make a decisions without nudging some opposition now. For he was, quite honestly, leaning towards the well spoken Ryuuji at the moment.

[Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy Vide
PostSubject: Re: [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy EmptyWed 26 Jun 2013, 11:18 am

((OOC: I think I've been forgetting Kyou's little speech quirk. If you don't mind, act as though he's been doing this the entire time. To clarify, I mean the way he adds "ki" at the end of his sentences sometimes. Also, I really appreciate that you've all been so patient with me. You really didn't have to do that, and I feel pretty bad about that disruption.))

Things were looking rather grim for the brunette. Even after his mini speech had concluded, Nai remained silent. She'd been the one to really open up Konoha's side of the argument, and it seemed that she was at a loss, lacking any additional input. Not that he could really blame the girl, as his separation from the inner workings of the village, and even the ones on the surface left him as an inadequate representative, especially at a time like this. There was a very, very slim chance that things would be able to pick up. Of course, Kyousuu was always one to hate losing. He hated feeling like he was the lesser individual; as though everything he did just never ended up being enough to prove that he was more than just a statistic.

When Ryuuji spoke, it caused his blood to boil. The former had such a way with words that he had left Kyousuu in the dust. Not wanting to be outdone, he considered his next choice of words. Simply going on about the Will of Fire in such a roundabout way would certainly not help lift the doubts that the Lord had. This was one of the most difficult challenges he'd faced. There were ones that were more taxing, both mentally and physically, but those didn't have him compare his success to that of a ninja from another village. Biting his lower lip, the jinchuuriki stifled a growl. He'd never had a reason to push himself until that point, which was something that evoked an acute distaste.

"Lord Koicha, I don't want to dwell on this subject too much, but there's something I'd like to add, ki. Recently things in Konoha have certainly been rather unexpected. With the title of Hokage being passed to Ridori Mitsu only for him to encounter death, many of us were unsure of how to react.ki." This was said bluntly, as he cared little about the information he shared with his current audience. He needed to do everything in his power to try and improve his standing with the daimyo, even if it meant the disclosure of things that he could likely be scolded (or worse) for. "Without a Hokage to keep things orderly, it was up to the higher ranked shinobi to keep us all from going crazy, ki. Even with the idea of another village planning something against us, the leaf did not buckle under the stormy winds. Instead, it allowed itself to flow along with it, changing its direction to best suit the situation, ki. Even without a solid leadership, I find myself here with Nai, doing my best and doing what I can to help my village succeed."

Based on what the man had said to his earlier commentary, the brunette inferred that empty words wouldn't work. Despite not expecting them to, he was surprised by just how tough Koicha could be. It mirrored his first meeting with Son Goku. The two of them didn't get along from the beginning, but in a sense they'd come to accept that they had clashing personalities. Kyousuu only wanted things to go smoothly with the beast so that he could get what he wanted, and the bijuu siply wanted to do as he pleased. Neither of the two things would logically happen without some form of communication, and until one of the two discovered a way to follow through with their plans, they remained content to be at a sort of stalemate. Koicha was similar in that aspect; he couldn't care less for the feelings of the shinobi with regards to his final decision, because he just wanted to pick the better of the two for his own personal gain. Coincidentally, Kyousuu wanted to do this for himself, not so much for the village. Nonetheless, he couldn't bring himself to cover everything in lies despite hiding his true feelings about Konoha.

"With that in mind, my lord, your observations aren't wrong, ki. That which we call the Will of Fire was just a speck on the village, barely keeping itself lit until now." Forcing himself to remain stoic, Kyo sipped his tea to pause and ensure he was still on the path he wanted to travel along. "Our motivation to continue with our missions, no matter how difficult, is what has re-ignited the flame, ki. We might not have a bloody past like Kirigakure, but we certainly have had our share of scars in the past. That doesn't mean that we'll let those wounds fester until they consume what we have left, though. No, Konoha views these scars as something to learn from, to drive us to grow and improve with every new generation, ki."

His original plan had been to deviate from the Will of Fire subject as soon as possible so he'd be able to cover other aspects that might impress this man, but that didn't quite turn out as he had hoped. Choosing not to show this, he chose his next words rather quickly, feeling as though he didn't have much time left. "The shinobi of Konoha have been working quite a lot, some of us flying through tests and ranks in order to instill tat drive into the newer faces. Others focused on bettering themselves on a personal level so that they might become more effective ninja, ki. Even those in the village that aren't shinobi have been affected by the attitudes of the shinobi, helping and supporting them as best as they possibly can. It's not just one man's change of heart, but the entirety of Konoha's. We look toward the future generations, doing our best so that they'll become stonger and wiser, ki. In short, we want them to become better than we could ever strive to be."

'Bring it on, Hyuuga Ryuuji,' he mused, glancing toward the Kiri-nin. His emerald green eyes held a rather interesting spark. There was desire, confidence, and even a bit of bitterness in their multi-faceted glow. If more was needed from him, so be it. As long as he could show that he wasn't just another genin or a push-over. If there was one things that Tanaka Kyousuu was not, it was weak-spirited.

PostSubject: Re: [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy EmptyFri 28 Jun 2013, 4:48 pm

Okay, breathe in Nai, just, breathe in.

And breathe in deeply she did, sucking in the air and the overwhelming aroma of both tea and tension that draped over their heads, hung around and about her person. In retrospect, having said absolutely nothing when she was prompted to do so was, as Nai began to realize with a dejected sigh, the worst, most despair-inducing thing she could have inflicted upon herself (and, in a much broader sense, Konoha). The pinkette could always attribute it to a failure of being able to articulate what could have been said but then, vocalizing those thoughts would be akin to making excuses and making excuses was the least helpful thing to do in this kind of situation. There was no reason, no pretext she could say to her companion for her lack of words during the few moments she kept mum, head inclined to stare instead at their host. Well, the young girl wouldn't lie, but she had nothing to say back then, letting that silence pass over her as the Kiri representative took that as his cue to further his own goal. Shameful as it were, the young girl could not let that emotion bury her beneath the ground, and she truly wouldn't allow the Kiri shinobi to be the one to give her the shovel to do so.

Still, she had to keep to herself for the moment, as it wasn't her turn to speak. Rather, their host hadn't glanced towards her again, having ingested the opposition and his words for him. So much for being helpful, the pinkette could only suppose as she observed the other boy speak, ending with a smile that the lord actually returned. But it was expected of him to do so, after hearing what Ryuuji had offered, almost as if the boy handed him a golden platter that he knew he deserved to have. And in the other side of the spectrum, here they were scraping up the vaguest of hints for their host, to which he responded with an unimpressed air that couldn't rival anyone Nai knew.

Well then.

Even as she berated herself in her head over and over, the young girl knew that it was far from over. It had seemed to her that the lord was giving them a (fighting? she wasn't sure to be honest) chance at redemption, to say the least, dangling above their heads a prompt to answer an inquiry of his. Her partner had easily taken the bait (as she would, when her time will be given to her), speaking more about the Will of Fire and elaborating even further to the point of him earning her (though minute and short-lived) fitful gaze, celebrating and yet questioning his decision to divulge a, rather, sensitive topic.

He ended soon enough, and it was finally her turn. This time though, there was no silence that smothered her person, no act of skipping or intimidation to rise from her thoughts. Nai swallowed the building bile amassed amongst the words she had concocted, made sure to appear fully (even more so than earlier) confident towards both their host and their opponent, beginning once more. "My Lord, what our opposition had said and in regards to the question you posed about the future is indeed, what we are striving to accomplish today. The future of your country, whether in the hands of our own Konoha and their own Kiri. Let us remember though, that the past, while almost likely to be forgotten by most, is also the stronghold of our present and imminent future. To talk of the future, we must first understand one's past and survey their present, and from there on, be able to derive a future that will not only be a working theory but an undoubtable truth." She paused for the shortest of moments, recalling that clarity was what was needed the most and continued on, "Konoha is that kind of stronghold; for both our past, and our present are more than just pages in history books. As you may already know, we are one of the first to be established as a great hidden village, and from our humble start, grew to its respectable size, housing more unique and renowned shinobi that have worked for the betterment of our village. Our government and the laws that we abide to were also developed as we grew, as well as the shinobi military, our education system and so on and so forth. The past as it is, Konoha from the get-go is a village of insurmountable strength, this feat accomplished only and because of the shinobi that reside in it; they had done all they can, even as the odds are stacked against them, thus building the immense reputation of a village that is currently seen in our present time."

For a small while, Nai wondered if she was rambling too much. Probably, but that didn't make the kunoichi deter from her thought process. Another pause and more slews of words came forth from her. "What Kyou-kun said about the Will of Fire is also true." she prompted again, though with a lessened fervour due to her actual opposing view of his words. Yes, she was an optimist that had that firm belief in that, almost sentimental, highly philosophical phrase; and hearing those words come from Kyoussu caused her to stop for a moment. And yet, she chose to use his words as a springboard for her own, digesting his own interpretation as she masked away that small pang of intrigue that felt its way to her features. "It is a belief that stemmed from the very start of Konoha's rise that we have embodied in our daily lives, but it is the people that caused it to, from his words, re-ignite once more; causing us to work further and harder in order to retain the stability that has been with us and continues to accompany the name of our great village. While we've been hit with the passing of our Hokage, as he had said, we would not allow ourselves to fall into turmoil. With our new leader, our present is still intact. Not in shambles, and not in the direction that our previous leader had in mind, but still, it's in tact."

And again, another pause overcame the genin, before speaking again, "In this regard, keeping in mind our past as a village of power and its present, still as a village of power, if not more so," Than Kiri, she would have added, but it was far and beyond her to even start an act of subtle hostility. Instead, the pinkette rummaged through her thoughts for a second, continuing only when she had a suitable thing to say. "There is still the future which, of course, hasn't been written yet." Once more, she paused, wishing that this be the last for a while. "Unlike our competitor though, I can't enumerate new laws or any new advancements that Konoha has done to make it a village worth more than its past, because it already is a village worth more than both its past and present combined. This is the effect of a consistency that Konoha is used to and more so known to be comprised of, and this is dependability for any and all future endeavours for, what I hope will be your country and ours is certainly what we can offer to you, more than anything in our arsenal. While we are not a perfect village, to be sure, even with the current state of things, we work in tandem with each other, our drive to lift our village up higher than before."

She ended there, expecting to heaven and back that what she had said made any semblance of sense. Hopefully.

PostSubject: Re: [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy EmptySun 30 Jun 2013, 9:17 am

Tense… yes tense was the best word for the feel of the room at this moment. At least that how Ryuuji felt, but yet he hide this and so many other emotions behind his smile like he done so many times within in life. He was a bit ashamed of himself for allowing his mind to believed that he had all but won after that last round. The debate was just like any other fight and overconfidence had no place if a fight. From start to end you must hit them with everything you have, weak or strong, it doesn’t matter. Finishing off the last of his tea as he listen to his two opposites as they talk even meeting eyes with the two at the end of each of their speeches. They would only receive a gentle smile from him.

If nothing each they painted a pretty picture of what it must be like living in such a large village that had seem only a dabs of hardships here and there in it life span. Of course this was only a speculation on Ryuuji part as his knowledge of Konohagakure history was limited. However, for the first time, the words of the pinkette struck a chord a within Ryuuji with her talk of past, present, and future. He was not certain that it were directed toward Kiri or not but it made him wonder. Rubbing his chin it would be the make him think just what did the people of the world thought of his village?

It was a interesting subject, but one he would have to hold off on till a later time. As it seemed his turn was once more upon him thought deeply about the Lord words. He said he needed proof that the his village would not “Devore them whole”. Placing both hands onto his table he knew just what to say to this. After all he knew the history to his own village far better then anyone in this room and already was ready for this question; more or less. Once more he would ready himself as he prepare to once more give his speech.

"You pose a good question, lord Koicha, but one with a simple answer. Kirigakure has never once relied on expansion as its means of gaining power. It is, to this date, the smallest of the great nations due to its lack of interest in expansion. Furthermore, gaining this alliance for Kirigakure would mean gaining access into the rest of the world; we have no reason to try and control you, you have nothing that we want other than your friendship and cooperation with our nation." The Hyuuga took a breath, preparing to finish his thoughts. "The Land of Iron has lived next to Kirigakure for ages, and we have not even made moves against them in an attempt to gain one of the strongest militaries in the world, even though we could over power them in military might. Instead, we defended them against rogue ninja encampments, recently, that started to flood their shores, without any needed compensation, just to ensure that we could both keep to our own business. Once again, the alliance and ability to trade with Kirigakure to support both of our nation's economies would be all that we could ask from the Land of Tea, and all that we would want to ask from the Land of Tea. Kirigakure needs nothing else other than the good faith and economic support which it would gain from peaceful alliances. We have not yet done anything to prove that we're incapable of protecting our own, and we've done more than enough to prove the opposite. If it's the Hidden Mist that you fear through the alliance, you can place that aside, seeing as we would never terminate a contract that we wrote up in the first place."

The Hyuuga looked over at the other individual who had just given their opinions on the matter, consisting mostly of matter that did not relate directly to political affairs in the slightest. "Kirigakure has always strived for the betterment of itself. The difference is that it started out small, and low, plagued with internal affairs and has only gotten better, steadily. Konohagakure started off mighty, and has shown lack of consistancy in its dimming will of fire, as well as lacking any interest to rush to your side when needed in the past, while they had more than enough resources. I think the better option should be clear, Lord Koicha.” He spoke with smooth and sweat voice.

In the end his tongue may have gotten away from him a bit, but he believed he pointed out all the details that was needed. With his side said and spoken he could do nothing more then wait. So he would the only thing he could do and prepare himself more tea. Once ready he would take a deep slip, enjoying the rice taste as it washed down his throat. Oddly he normally detest tea such as this, but this truly was the holy land of tea. It was definitely something he could get use too.

PostSubject: Re: [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy EmptySat 17 Aug 2013, 8:58 pm

Lord Koicha listened intently, his expression one of careful contemplation. What started out as a better argument than had been said before held some promising merit for a while. The Konoha boy once again mentioned the Will of Fire; a seemingly stale attempt at pushing a subject that the man didn't truly see as a good way to construct a strong argument. Nevertheless, he listened on, hoping something else would be mentioned that would make this less one-sided than it currently was. After all, he did precede it with some facts that couldn't be shrugged o:!: ff. A village without its kage could hardly be considered a village, just a gathering of shinobi with the same affiliation. The girl used those words as a springboard to push further into their point, and that cooperation was something to be proud of. At first it seemed they hadn't come in with any sort of plan, yet here they were, able to not only reiterate, but delve further into each other's points. Did all of Konoha share this power, to understand each other without directly communicating? Was this what the Will of Fire had become? He nodded and sipped his tea, waiting to speak until all other parties had spoken.

The kiri nin stayed strong through his part of the debate, and with a subtle, polite smile the man knew that it was time to draw things to a close. To avoid lighting any unnecessary flames - that is, to prevent any bloodshed on his doorstep - he would simply notify the Kage of the village he chose, keeping the pressure off of the genin that had done well to travel to such a place and perform such an important task. Nodding, he stood up to address the three young shinobi. "You've done well, shinobi of Kirigakure and Konohagakure. I've heard all I needed to, and will now make my decision. However, I will have to wait to notify your Kage until I've come to a conclusion on which is truly the best village to choose. Until then, please enjoy the rest of your stay in Cha no Kuni, should you opt not to go back to your cillages right away." Bowing slightly, the daimyo turned on his heel and exited, leaving the genin to themselves.

+  +  +  +  +  +  +  +  +

The moment the daimyo was out of sight, Kyousuu let himself fall backwards, only supporting himself with his arms. Letting out a long, heavy sigh, he turned to look at Nai. It was as though he had stopped breathing during the debate of sorts. The pressure had been much more than he was used to, and consequently he found that, now that it was all over, he was was shaking. Things hadn't quite gone as he had planned or hoped, and above all else, he was paranoid about how that might affect him when he returned. If the daimyo chose Kiri over Konoha, he'd have one more thing he'd never live down. His parents would find every opportunity to remind him of his failure in an attempt to make him go through a drastic, forced change.

"Well, Nai-chan, we did our best, and I don't know about you, but I'm ready to go back to Konoha, ki," he said as he pushed himself up to stand. Despite the fact that he didn't want to go back to Konoha, he'd much rather go there than stay outside of the village to long and be accused of attempting to go missing. Which would be a silly accusation as Nai was with him and they'd likely stay together (a lone genin traveling between countries during this time would just be asking for trouble), but he'd said and done some things that would leave others suspicious of him for a while unless he managed to show them he was trustworthy. His words had been honest - he said what he really felt, and the actions illustrated as such, but he didn't want any trouble until he was ready to take that next step. With that in mind, the jinchuuriki turned and began to walk toward the exit, stopping only to turn and see if Nai would follow.

"Whatever you choose, I'll wait for you outside, ki," he stated rather apathetically before continuing to make his way through the front doors. Not much time had passed from the time they walked into the building to the time the daimyo had left their presence, but it had felt like at least a few hours had gone by. Maybe they'd stop for food before heading back... and Kyousuu was really craving some bananas.

[Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy Vide
PostSubject: Re: [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy EmptyMon 19 Aug 2013, 8:32 am

Waiting for the lord's next words after the Kiri shinobi had spoken were, quite frankly, an excruciating span of time for the young genin. There seemed to be a finality with the way his eyes darted from each of them, nodding in silence to himself with each tilt of his head. Whatever he was thinking escaped the pinkette, though she was hoping for the best for her and her companion; her optimistic mind was inclined to the side of success though and as their host stood up, getting their attention in the process, Nai tensed up, ears perking as he started to speak. What she was waiting for didn't come however and instead, they were praised for their efforts and informed that he would send to their leaders his decision, maybe hoping to rid them of the tension that his verdict might have given them otherwise.

The moment the his robes vanished from sight, along with his attendants and most everyone in the room, leaving behind the three shinobi plus the guards that stood by the doors, was the only moment that Nai even felt like moving, exhaling the air hoarded by her lungs and allowing her to breathe properly once more. A burden was finally lifted from her chest, but it was shortly replaced by a worry that was heavier to carry. Only when Kyousuu stirred did Nai even think to move, shifting her weight as she readied herself to stand. "You don't want to do some sightseeing here?" she had said then, after the brunette's declaration of wanting to return to their village, even as she knew he was going to turn down the suggestion. Well, she had to say something other than 'okay', and as Nai twisted her neck and allowed a satisfying cra~ack ring in her ears, maybe letting the invitation slip would washed that lingering apprehension away. The worry could wait she decided; the result of their mission would be sent to Konoha, so she supposed the uncertainty could wait until they got back. It wasn't the best way to deal with it; if it was a failure then it would be sent directly to their superiors... and well, that was depressing to think about. But if it was a success, then it was a success. And ever the optimist, even though she may have a hand to their failure, if it was one, Nai settled with the thought of a fifty percent chance of success, disregarding the remaining fifty of failure.

With that, the genin finally stood, letting her gaze fall first on the Kirigakure shinobi. Kyousuu had spoken again then, and in reply, Nai muttered a simple 'alright', before watching him leave the grand room. With an air of the elegant, the pinkette strode towards the remaining shinobi, flashing the Kiri boy a smile while holding out a hand, initiating a handshake. Nai felt she needed to do so, even though they had been vying for the attention of the daimyo earlier. But that was over and done with, and once the handshake stopped, she headed to the doors as well; the feeling of oppression the room had vanishing the second she stepped out of them.

Time to go home then. Now where did Kyou say he was waiting at?

PostSubject: Re: [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy [Event] The Campaign: Battle of Diplomacy EmptyTue 20 Aug 2013, 5:49 am

Time moved every so slowly as the young man stared up at the lord waiting for the words, any words at this time. But only silent greeted his ears with each passing seconds. It was these moments that he hated he most in life, the waiting. It was during these moments that his mind had the freedom to wonder freely away from his pathological thinking. He thought about how he could have said things differently, or maybe better phased his words. However thinking like this was nothing more then wasted energy. The past have passed and you can now only look forward.

Closing his eyes the young man you only slip on his tea as he waited. Thankfully that did not take long as voice of the lord would awaken him from his thoughts. It would seemed he was impressed with each of them to for their words however he would not be giving him his answer to them but to their Kages. It was the most logic choice after all it wouldn’t just be the Lord picking as Ryuuji was sure those around him would also have much to say about this matter. They would need time to weight their options and pick the best for them and no one else.

At long last the meeting was over with the Lord exiting the room with his entourage leaving only the three genin alone within the room. Ryuuji would only release a deep sight at the whole event. He had travel so far to only spend less then a afternoon with a man that might not even pick his own village. The life of a ninja would truly funny at times he thought to himself with a smile. However his little joke to himself would soon be interrupted. It seemed the pinkette had came over to offer and hand in a handshake. It made Ryuuji want to laugh, not insult, but simply cause. Returning the smile he would reach up and take the hand and shake it.

Within seconds he would join the other two outside the door only to be meet my his own cousins. “Sir, how the meeting go?” one asked quickly. Ryuuji only met it with a smile as he turned to watched to his opponents leave. A odd brunette’s and a pinkette beauty what a odd pair to have a debate against. “Tanaka Kyousuu and Itoshii, Nai. I’ll have to remember those names.” he said under his breath as he raised a hand to his mouth before calling out slightly. “I hope our next meeting shall also be only a battle of words.” and without another word he would turn and lightly slap both his cousins on their faces. “Come we’re heading back to the village tonight. I’m eager to report this mission myself.” he said with a slight grin before walking off.
