| Name: Rootfellen Rank: B Appearance: - Spoiler:
All treant summons are literally living trees. They can be a variety of different shapes and sizes, most with unique, distinguishing features. Rootfellen towers above many lesser Treant summons, standing at a mighty 35 feet tall. He has a more humanoidal form than Barkfist, complete with a thick beard and hair made of foiliage. He even has a long, pointed wooden nose. His bark is gnarled and tough, a sign of his age. Contract Type: Blood Species: Treant Elemental Affinity: Wood Special Abilities/Characteristics: Innate Barkskin: Like all treant summons, Rootfellen is made entirely of wood. However, due to his specialty in using his own wooden body to form weaponry and defenses, his Barkskin has been hardened over the centuries with chakra to make his bark skin incredibely sturdy- almost as hard as petrified wood. He takes 25% damage from earth/water ninjutsu, 50% from wind, but is still vulnerable to lightning and fire, taking full damage from lightning, minus the fact that he is incapable of being electrocuted and 200% damage from fire style techniques. His entire body functions as a b-rank, multi layered armor from physical attacks.
Tree Talk: Can speak to the spirits of nearby trees, asking them what they have observed in the nearby surroundings, in order find out who or what has passed by the tree recently.
Strength of the Ents: Due to their woodland like nature, all ents are innately stronger than the average summon. 2.5X strength for a B-rank summon of his size.
Somewhat-Cumbersome: The ents great strength does have a downside however, especially at higher ranks. Rootfellen has struggled hard to overcome the innate, cumbersome slowness of his mighty race, but has never been able to move as agily or quickly as his life-like counterparts. 85% normal speed.
Background: It was while he was traveling through river country, on his way to the village of Sunagakure, that Hanikaro stumbled upon a place known as the Grove of the Ancients. It was here, in this secluded forest, that he saw trees unlike any he had ever seen before. They were all sentient, and fully capable of movement. These tree spirits, who called themselves ancients were originally hostile to Hanikaro. However, they were pleasantly surprised by Hanikaro's wood style jutsu, jutsu that they themselves employed, but had never known an outsider to be capable of. The council of the forest elder's, the leading branch of the ent spirits, were called together to discuss the case of this special outsider. After much deliberation, they decided that, since he possessed powers like theirs, and showed no outward hostility, that he would be allowed to stay, as a friend of the ent's, but warned that this armistice only applied to him and those with similar powers.
Hanikaro was honored by the councils decision, for it was clear that the ent spirits knew far more about wood style jutsu then he could have ever imagined there was to know. He trained amongst the ents for some time prior to leaving for sunagakure. A powerful Ent lord named Rootfellen was one of his main teachers in wood style, and the two developed something of a friendship with this teacher, whom he respected greatly due to his prowess, which far exceeded Hanikaro's own. Barkfist was one of his main sparring partners. During the three months he spent in the sacred grove, he learned more about the trees than he had ever thought possible. Finally when it came time for him to go, the ent's promised, should he learn how to perform a summoning, to lend him their aid in battle should he call, and had them sign the Ent-lords blood contract.
Summons Jutsu: [What jutsu does your summon possess, if any?]
- Quote :
- Name: Wooden Spears
Type: Ninjutsu Rank: C Element: Wood Description: Holdng up his wooden hands, which already have pointy fingers, Rootfellen channels wood chakra, which causes his fingertips to suddenly shoot out, lengthening as spears which shoot to impale the target. These have a max range of 40 feet (due to his giant size, his fingers can stretch greater length for less chakra). It takes 0.5 seconds for the spears to lengthen to maximum distance.
Name: Doton: Iwa no Kougeki [Earth Release: Rock Attack] Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu Element: Earth Description: The user quickly finishes a few handseals. Swinging his arm or arms, the user can create mid-sized rocks in the palms of their hands (it rootfellens case, these are essentially boulders, being 7.5 feet in diameter) and shoot them at the opponent with good momentum. Due to Rootfellen's tremendous Arm strength, these boulders can be quite deadly to those who suffer a direct hit.
Name: Enroot Rank: D Type: Ninjutsu Element: Wood Description: Sticking his roots beneath the ground, Rootfellen enroots himself. By doing this, it will allow him to hold his ground against enormous amounts of pushing force, much like a strong tree would. It takes 1 post for him to unroot himself after this technique is used, but he can still perform jutsu.
Name: Self-Petrification Type: Ninjutsu Rank: D-S (depends on summon) Element: Wood Description: Normally used after rooting oneself, the treant summon will suddenly, instantly petrify itself. While in this state they become nearly indestructible, becoming a virtual wall against attacks. Barkfist uses the C-rank version of this technique. However, after having performed this jutsu, the summon will be incapable of performing any action for the next 3 posts while it unfreezes itself. While in this form, Only a A rank level Earth, or lightning jutsu can destroy Rootfellen, as none of the other elements have the pushing force or shattering at A rank to destroy it, except in special cases. S-rank fire, water, and wind can also destroy him, an dsitll maintain some of their potency after destroying him.
Name: Wooden Body of the Ancient Warrior Rank: D-B (depending on the amount of manipulation needed) Type: Natural Weaponry Element: Wood Description: Using Wood style chakra, Rootfellen manipulates his own wooden body to make any weapon or alteration imaginable. Depending on the level of change, the chakra cost varies.
Name: Flying Death Spikes Rank: C Type: Natural Weaponry Element: Wood Description: Rootfelen raises either one of his palms or forearms and targets the enemy with it. Then, using wood chakra, he causes wooden spikes to form and shoot out from his barkskin. He can shoot dozens of these at once, and all of them travel with excellent momentum, capable of even penetrating weaker armor and the flesh benath. Each is roughly twice the size of a kunai, and being hit with multiple numbers of them is fatal.
Name: Tree Trick Rank: E Type: Ninjutsu Element: Wood Description: Using this simple jutsu that is known by the larger varietys of treant, and is similar, but more effective than the transformation technique, can cause the treant summon, in the blink of an eye, to appear as a normal tree. Only upon extremely close examination, or at least a reasonable amount of time spent scanning with sensory techniques such as the byakugan will an enemy be able to realize the ruse. Often, they will simply treat the treant as another tree, allowing it to launch surprise attacks on unwary enemies. This can be done in the blink of an eye, causing some opponents to believe they are just seeing things when they thought they saw a living tree. This can be done under the disguised of the smoke created by the summoning technique, causing opponents to believe the caster summoned a mere tree, or pherhaps something invisible, or the summon failed completely, and if done in a forested area, it will be impossible to tell which one the treant actually is.
Name: Disguised by the Forest Rank: B Type: Ninjutsu Element: Wood Description: Basically a more advanced form of Tree Trick, this can only be used in a forested area. If this condition is met, Rootfellen can instantaneously blend in perfectly with the trees, and as long as he maintains at maximum of a 5 yard distance from trees, he will be undetectable by normal means, allowing him to move undetected to launch assaults.
Name:Overgrowth Rank:B Type:Ninjutsu Element:Wood Description:Rootfellen causes roots to burst forth suddenly from the ground around all nearby enemies. These roots are sharpened and covered with wooden stakes, and will attempt to ensnare and injure all of the Treant's nearby enemies.
Name: Great Forest Technique Type: Ninjutsu Rank: B Element: Wood Description: A technique that changes one's own arm into big trees. For a treant this technique is much less difficult and much less demanding, since it is really just an expansion of what is alread their natural arm. Then, by activating the trees, stimulating them to grow rapidly, they lengthen at high speed and fork into many branches. It is possible to capture the enemy with these branches and at the same time, if one changes the ends into sharp stakes, turn them into countless, sharp, spear-like piercing weapons.

| How would bark protect him from elements?
Why would a tree be stronger just because its wooden? They don't even have muscles or anything of the sort. |

| Think about it: What would happen if you tried to hit a tree with a wave of water? It could potentially knock himm down if it were strong enough, but other than that it would have no effect. You hit a tree with a standard earth style jutsu, the result would also be negligible. With wind, if its pushing, it's unlikely that it could completely crush a tree to the point where it would be destroyed. If it's slicing, it is still far more difficult to slice through wood than through flesh.
He's stronger because he's wooden quite simply because of his lack of of the normal muscles and fibers and tissues. For him, his entire body is a single giant muscle, that he is capable of moving as he pleases at relatively standard Human movement speed for a creature his size. In terms of strength, simply think of you turning your fist into a tree, and then swinging with the same velocity as your normal punch- making it far, far more potent. |

| Hitting a tree with water could very possibly dampen its bark enough to make it weaker. Rock > Wood, rock is the stronger force meaning that doton could smash bark pretty well. True, slicing through wood with wind would be harder then slicing through skin, but that wouldn't make the jutsu a percentage less effective.
That would mean the impact of his punches would be greater, wouldn't mean he is stronger just because his fists are made of wood. Especially not that much stronger. |

| Ok, sure, you dampen the outer layer of bark- thats still not much of an effect compared to what it would have on a human. With a rock style jutsu, sure he's not immune, but rock style attacks would be significantly weakened compared to the crushing effects it would have on less durable material. If you want I can change it to a 1-rank reduction for the jutsu of those types used against him.
If you want me to change it that it seems that he has 2.5X the strength of a normal summon due to increased momentum of his swings, thats fine. |

| If we're comparing everything to a human, pretty much any summoning would be more resistant to everything because lets face it, humans are weak. |

| Yes, but think about it. If you hit a giant cat with a boulder, and then if you hit a tree with that same boulder, the cat will more than likely take more damage than the tree. |

| Jsalos, beyond how strong a tree should be, please consider balance over abundant power. As it stands, this is not a B ranked summon. And if it is, i am terrified of what you would make for an A ranked summon, or the chief tree. This thing is a monster, and a perfect example of why we should only be using animals as summons, and not elemental creatures.
I would have to say tone this summon down drastically, or increase its rank substantially. Please remove a bunch of jutsu, tone down its armor to levels it can be damaged at, and reduce its strength to more reasonable levels. |
