A Slithering Issue Vide
PostSubject: A Slithering Issue A Slithering Issue EmptySun 23 Jun 2013, 6:56 pm

This post is completely directed towards Chris' moderation of Yoroi's Arsenal Update out of respect of the rules I resisted the urge to post in the thread, however I believe their are a few key issues with your moderation that need to be addressed desperately.

Chris wrote:
[Sen'eijashu (Hidden Shadow Snake Hands, 潜影蛇手)] - Needs to be a B Rank & reduce amount of Snakes to 2, as it is too strong for a C Rank. However, for an extra chakra cost, you can get up to 4 snakes. Also 'will stay for a while' needs to be specific.

Maybe it would be better to actually compare to the source material before you make judgments on techniques. Hidden Shadow Snake Hands <-- This right here closest thing to source material we have available. The technique is C rank. Further, to allow only two snakes for a B rank technique? The base rate for a C rank is 5cp, the same amount of the base rate for summoning a C rank summon. Lets compare though, these summons are not C rank, they are minor snakes, easily D rank. They merely bite and spread poison if possible (further he notes that the snakes are not poisonous). You expect him to spend 2-3 times as much chakra to summon only two snakes?  3 or even 4 at the base level is nowhere near OP. Additionally, in the source material this technique was used for mid range combat (on US mid ranged combat is defined as 5-10m) and he has further reduced the range to only two.

Yoroi Shiki: Kawarimi (Yoroi Style: Body Replacement, よろいテイ.ぐ)] - Denied; too powerful for a B rank; too close to Orochimaru which may lead you to try to copy him further in terms of Resurrection and immortality.
This is not too powerful for a B rank, it negates a B rank technique as a B rank [which by rules of counterbalancing, which s another concept explicitly from the manga] and is destroyed by an A rank technique. There is no elemental advantage so the only judge is merely terms of power. The only specification needed is to specify that the technique is also destroyed by a B rank technique after negating it's damage.

This isnt even a legit moderation. This is your opinion, there is not even a shred of factual basis. This statement is a fallacy in all it's glory. Orochimaru is the only basis for snake techniques, which means that by this logic anyone who summons snakes is “Too close to Orochimaru” but to use that as a reason to deny a technique is just ignorant. You dont know what he intends to do with his character, therefore you cannot say “[it] may lead you to copy him further” you are forming your own conclusions based on a lack of evidence.

Chris wrote:
Chakra Kyuuinya (Chakra Absorbing Snakes, いきイ)] - Denied because too powerful, because you're causing a lot of damage on top of draining chakra + too many snakes.

“Too powerful” Lets go with the original argument on Sen'eijashu, the snakes bite (and snake bites for the most part are meager wounds) or wrap around the target, a minor attack only C rank in power. If you combine that with chakra absorption, an encyclopedia technique, the two techniques combined would equal that of a B rank.  This technique does not cause “lots of damange” and if you think it does by the descriptions perhaps be actually helpful and suggest ways of correcting the error rather than simply denying.

However, the moderation this technique needs is to reflect the chakra draning of the Chakra Kyuuin Jutsu

Quote :

Costs the User: C (5) | Takes From Target: D (4)
Costs the User: B (10) | Takes From Target: C (9)
Costs the User: A (20) | Takes From Target: B (15)
Costs the User: S (35) | Takes From Target: A (25)

Starting at B rank given that is the base rank for the technique.

Chris wrote:
[Shikoku no Yoroi (Snake scale-armor, つちこけ)] - Denied, because it both protects and augments attacks, as well as Bone Armor isn't accepted on US for various reasons, and this technique is even stronger than the original.
You might do well to read This and think before using you denial. The technique, much like any other technique should only block one attack of equal power and/or weaken one attack of higher rank while being destroyed.  The augmentation of your attacks is only logical considering you have GIANT EFFING SPIKES coming out of your skin. The only grievance with this technique is that it should be A rank, not B given that it does increase two aspects of  combat.

Quote :
[Hebi Bunshin (Snake Clone, オ分身)] - You can't turn chakra into snakes, whereas summoning that many snakes to form a bunshin is far beyond a B Rank. So denied.

I've said it before and I will say it again “Consider the source material” Crow Clone is a  C-rank technique of the same design. The added effects might be enough to make it B rank, but they merely relate to the fact that it is made out of snakes?

Quote :
[Hebigakure no Jutsu (Hiding in a Snake, 蝦蟇隠)] - Denied for various reasons, namely, you have a swimming, digging, jumping snake which can't be detected, and also hiding in a snake's stomach would kill you: a) because of acid b) because it would unconsciously try to digest you.

So you're rather abrupt and unhelpful denial this time is based on the fact that you can travel with the technique?
Mind you this technique is remarkably similar to
Quote :

Name: Dochuu Senkou - Underground Submarine Voyage
Rank: C
Type: Ninjutsu
Range: Close (0m - 5m), Mid (5m - 10m)
Element: Doton (Earth)
Description: Doton • Dochuu Senkou is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Earth Element. After forming the needed hand seals, the user can sink below ground and quickly travel through the earth.
Chakra Cost: 6 (2 per post)

The only restrictions needed are a slight increase in chakra cost and perhaps a limit on time that the technique can be used for.

Now, let's go back to that age old lecture of considering the source material. However this time, Orochimaru is not the point of reference, this time let's look at a few of Jiriaya's techniques.

Chrushing Toad Stomach and Toad Mouth Bind
I think those to techniques describe it all as to why he could survive being in the snake's stomach... and let's not forget during the chuunin exam Naruto was swallowed by a snake and survived as well, even if the snake was not of his summoning family.

Quote :
[Gyaku Kuchiyose: Onoregouku (Reverse Summoning: Snake-Prison Stomach, 逆口寄せのギョ)] - Denied, because again, the snake's stomach will kill both you and the person. Also you're referencing a Shield-Serpent which doesn't exist, and would have to be summoned separately.
See above, although I agree with the Shield-Serpent

Although there are a few techniques that could use a more clearer and better thought out description. Your outright denial without even an attempt to be helpful was pointless and rather harsh towards members. The goal of a moderation is to assist the members with their creations while moderating them for some degree of balance. Something you were not doing. Your moderation gives the feel that you did not even consider more than half the techniques, outright denying  them without any attempt at assisting in making them more balanced.

Thank you for this,
And yes, I know that I could give even more description on things if I really need to. I just kept it simple for the ones I am RPing with, rather then forcing them to read an entire wall of text and then letting them figure out how the jutsu works.

Thanks for giving your input and assistance with this, Trey. I've discussed the matter with Chris and we've decided that it be best I take over the moderation of Dino's techniques. I'll be re-reading over your post, Trey and come to a conclusion on each technique with what you've said taken into account. The topic will now be solved.
Solved.
