Ikaku Assignment: Smugger Catch Pt. 2 9c57a501-962a-4f39-b1ca-c22d73570cc3_zps27af94fd

The Oyaza Harbor was one of Fire Country's most adored tourist attractions. Those sort of places were special, because they united all the people of the country no matter what village you hailed from, whether it be Konoha, or the smaller villages that occupied the country alongside the Leaf. People of many cultures, creeds, and affiliations, gathered there to lavish in their beloved sea food restaurants and fishing docks. It wasn't until the invasion of the Cloud Village, however, that it became decimated and its once famed reputation crumbled. It became known as a cursed area of blood and weaponry, where underground criminal and ninja instigated battles between one another in hopes of gaining territory. It was until the recent years, that Konoha's military force took affirmative action within their country. This caused the enemies to retreat back to the north and dismissed their rights to the dock. However, for some strange reason, Konoha never reclaimed the village and reconstructed it to its once previous model state. Instead, they left the area vacant. Although the area's perimeter is secured, underground criminal activity still flourishes within the harbor.

Hours had passed since Ogatami left the Smuggler and his goons in their serpent dojo. Before landing a powerful punch to the man's face, he was informed that his drug dealer, Togu, had resided within the harbor just across the immense lake. Since then, Ogatami had been walking on top of the lakes surface towards the harbor, daylight shifting to dawn right over his head. Now that dark would soon be approaching, Ogatami felt more comfortable performing the assignment in his Reaper attire now. Wearing such a notorious uniform in daylight made him unease. At least in the night, people would actually have to spectate him to know what he was, if they were conscious that is. He wondered who this, Togu, fellow, was. From what he gathered, he was a powerful drug dealer who hailed in Grass Country, and mighty enough to manipulate multiple sellers and thugs to do his bidding. Ogatami thought twice about retreating and reporting back to the Elites, but he feared by sunrise, this man wouldn't be in the harbor. Which would lead to another drawn out assignment.

Ogatami finally reached the harbor area and leaped onto the wooden dock from the water. In distance, he could see the  harbor area that was in front of a immense dark forest; probably how the criminals managed to sneak in. Every building was essentially tall, square, and white, which could have given it a fanciful appearance, if most of the buildings weren't in ruin. The boy leaped on a rooftop and continued to escalate his jumps from one tall building to the next higher one. If he could get a high view point of the harbor, he would be able to spot the building with the red rooftop, where Togu resided. He reached a high rooftop and walked around its edges, getting a marvelous view of the harbor from down below. In the distance, towards the western part of the harbor, closer to the beach area, was the red tiled house. His phantom mask hauntingly glowed in the moonlight, as he pin pointed his target zone.

Inside one of the rooms, an older gentlemen sat at a table with a younger boy. They seemed to discuss something important as they drunk their tea. The older man, with a gray fro and beard, looked nervous as he took another sip. Both him, and the boy, were dressed in an full length yukata kimono. The younger boy, however, had a still look on his face as he looked down at his tea, almost statuette seeming. His pale skin identical to that of the moon, and his black hair being his skins homage to the night. After a minute, the two started to exchange some words and the boy started to giggle. From outside the window, Ogatami started to get bored. It wasn't until a large fireball came through the wall, did things really started to heat up.

Katon techniques were renowned for their burning beauty and destruction. One blessed to have such an affinity, and wield it proficiently, could prove to be a being of great prominence. Ogatami could only assume, however, after seeing his fiery artwork blaze over the side of the building in all its glory. The force of his fireball was enough to chip away a layer of concrete around the window, and the heat of the flames burning it to a blackened debris. Ogatami stood on the building across from the room's window, where the two people where having drinks. He knew the impact of the fireball would lessen once it hit the wall, and only the residual flames would manage to break through the wall. He didn't intend to kill, simply to invoke great fear and stress into his target. People under great distress were more likely to make mistakes and expose valuable information, especially when interrogated, at least that's what his Jonin told him. However, as soon as the smoke cleared, a spectacular image could be seen.

A wall of ice, yes, a whitish clear glacial construct, was shielded around the room and took the place of its wall. Vapor emanated from the ice as it collided with the heat of Ogatami's flames, until dispersing all of the surrounding fire entirely, with just its sub-zero temperature alone. A sheering cold sensation ran down Ogatami's spine. This was his elemental sensory ability being unexpectedly triggered. The sensation took place even before the ice was manifested, meaning, whoever was in the room, molded a new chakra nature from their pre-existing ones, a kekkei genkai. The ice began to vaporize entirely in a hastened fashion, more than likely, intentionally. From within the room, Ogatami saw the older man scrambling against the wall, unable to open the door due to his scatterbrained confusion. The younger boy, in his sea blue kimino, simply held out his hand towards the wall, and with his other, continued to sip his tea.

"Oh, look, we have another guest, Renuki." He said in a cherubic tone. The screaming man looked as if he was doing some sort of choreography as he tried to open the door without the handle, it must have blew off. He turned around and stared through the giant whole on the wall at Ogatami, who was standing on a rooftop just a short distance across. He slowly began to fall on the floor. "Togu, I.. I.. I gotta go!" He yelled, while busting through the door with his body weight, knocking the door off its hinges and busting his ass whilst doing so. "So this boy, is Togu? No way! He's just a kid." Ogatami thought. Togu, both casually stood up from his seat, and walked towards Ogatami. He stopped where the destroyed wall was suppose to be, and looked at the Reaper across from him.

"You'll have to excuse my worker, he's a very timid man. Poor fellow." Togu shook then proceeded to look down and shake his head, not so much because of the disappointment, but more so due to the embarrassment. The masked Ogatami proportioned himself equal to Togu's, both appearing like rivals within the scenery. "So, you're Togu. Nice name man, I bet it'll look good on your tombstone." Ogatami teased. The boy chuckled under his breath along with Ogi, he had a sense of humor. "Who are you, and what's your deal?" He asked. "My name is Togu, I'm an exile of the Hidden Mist village, for obvious reasons. You have a very interesting chakra about you, mystery boy." Ogatami tilted his head and smirked on the other side. "You too, is that the Hyōton bloodline ability? Very interesting, I also wanted to see it in person." Ogatami admitted. The boy gloated, and conjured ice shards and snow flakes around him that spun around him like a blizzard. "Before we engage in combat, cause we are, may I have the honor of knowing your name?" He asked, his voice becoming more and more chilling. "Ogatami, of the Mogozuki." He answered, tensing up.

"Well, Ogatami, it's a shame you meddled in something you had no business in. Now, let me show you how we settle things, in the Bloody Mist."

Ikaku Assignment: Smugger Catch Pt. 2 8464a0ec-0b2c-4c57-91e0-bab4f0225ded_zps1e95c28d

Ice sparrows were launched at Ogatami at a velocity that the untrained eye could deem as instant. They stormed across the space between the buildings in dozens of flocks. Togu, their caster, was continuously molding ice chakra while sending off his attack, intending to channel the technique until Ogatami, and probably the building for that matter, was pummeled. Ogatami had two options, either form some sort of counter, or, jump to another building in hopes of avoiding the birds. However, this technique was foreign to him, Togu may have been able to control the birds even as Ogatami moved. His safer option, was to hopefully counter them. One thing that he knew for sure, like most people, was that his chakra supply outweighed Togu's by a landslide. If this were a test of stamina and endurance, Ogatami would surely be the victor.

Ogatami formed a seal with his hands, and vibrated his chakra to the high frequency necessary for invoking the element of thunder, raiton. "Lightning Rlease: Raijin Shuriken." Electrical sparks began to jolt around his body, and quickly collect and condense to sharp fixtures that resembled shinobi shuriken. Combining both nature and shape manipulation, he hurled the lightning shuriken towards the flocks of ice sparrows. Their collision caused clouds of frost to spawn mid air, that only accumulated as both boys channeled their techniques. As soon as the cloud reached an awesome size that clouded a significant portion of space between the buildings and the streets, a large creature of ice formed in Togu's direction. This immense creature of ice, which seemed to be a bear, glided towards Ogatami  and engulfed by the previous ice sparrows, and his shuriken, with absolute ease.

"Uh-oh." Ogatami said while instantly running at the sight. He jumped to a neighboring rooftop, and witnessed as the colossal ice bear took down the building like it was made of fluff, freezing it in addition. The destruction of the building caused a massive booming sound that shattered most of the windows in the relative area. Ogatami shielded his face at the shooting debris that came in all trajectories of the buildings focal point. Then, suddenly, Togu appeared from across the same rooftop he was on. "I'm not impressed." He said, as he formed some more hand seals. A large twister of snow surrounded the rooftop, and from the thickening shadows that they caused, wolves composed of condensed snow and ice, emerged from them. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me."

One by one, Ogatami tangoed with the wolves while slinging fire at them from his blade. As second went by, the wolves started to attack in unison, and Ogatami was forced to perform more hastened maneuvers. He leaped over them, lashed them from the back with a flame whip, landed, and spun rapidly to project his flame arcs in all directions around himself. The wolves started to disperse once their head or torso began to get seared off, but as expected, more of them started to appear from the conjured blizzard storm. This time, however, several of them attacked at once in all directions. Thinking quickly, and using his natural gifts to his advantage, Ogatami quickly harnessed his wind chakra and spun gracefully before he was tore to shreds. The gale summoned from him repeled the wolves, and they dispersed into a puddle of mesh, before being picked back up by the blizzard for reformation. Faking an attack on a wolf, Ogatmami sent a triangular shape of arcs towards a spot on the twister, melting a quick exit that would only last for a second. Luckily, that was all he needed, and he jumped out of the icy arena and into the harbor rooftops again, then into the streets.

The breaths of the young jinchuriki were long and deep. He pressed his back against a building and slowly sunk down, resting his eyes. He managed to hide from the powerful young boy, Togu, through all the ruckus the two of them had caused. However, it wouldn't be long before Togu, or at least his ice manifestations, found him and made a Popsicle out of him. He was scared, he admitted, however, fear was not something that would keep him alive at that moment. Before, he would go hide behind a counter and cry, hoping his mentors would come to his rescue and save him. But, now, the fear that he felt in his stomach was not the type to make him run, but to test his will. The thought for a moment, assessing all the information he currently knew. In terms of perspective, both boys seemed would seem to be in a equal standstill. They both were young, had elemental prowess, possessed large amounts of chakra, and almost the same personality. Yet, why was he so much stronger than Ogatami? Why? He couldn't shake that question out of his head.

A noise was heard above Ogatami. The footsteps of a approaching individual that was running down the wall and with the intention of ramming Ogatami who leaned against it. Taking out a kunai, Ogatami stood up from the wall and quickly parried Togu's weapon before the blade pierced his skull. Sparks flew as the blades connected. What started to now chill Ogatami, was how calm Togu appeared throughout the whole encounter, as if this sort of thing was second nature to him. It amazed Ogatami, simply amazed. The two repelled each other, sending Ogatami in the middle of the deserted road, and Togu back on the buildings wall. In a series of shinobi flickers, both boys engaged in high speed taijutsu, ramming their blades against each other as if dancing in the night. After a short period, both of them were seen on opposite ends of the street, looking at each other.

"How, how are you.. so much stronger than me?" Ogatami asked exhaustively, heaving with every passing second. Togu looked at him as though his eyes were smiling, amused by the question, yet, also expecting it. "I was born in the womb of battle, my soul is defined not by how many I touch, but rather, how many I take. That is the power of darkness. You, Ogatami, know nothing of what it means to be a shinobi." He insulted coldly. He looked into Ogatami's tired half opened eyes for a moment. "I can see it in your eyes, you're a spoiled child who was kiddie trained by your village mentors, you aren't even a criminal." He said humorously, referring to Ogatami's Reaper costume and mask.

Ogatami stood up straight, and paused for a brief moment. He took off his mask, showcasing his beautiful ethnic face with his loosely curled raven hair falling to his back. He was angered, not at Togu, but at himself. He began to yell, he didn't care anymore. "So what!? You're saying I'm weak because I'm a villager!?" He yelled. Togu snickered. "No, I'm saying you're weak because you have yet to embrace your true potential, because you've been force fed to believe that kindness was the way to power. Yet, actually, it has made you weak. If we were to switch places, and you were raised like I was, you would be Elite Jonin, or, shall I say, Kiken-level right now." He admitted. And, Ogatami was starting to believed him.

"What's more funny, is that you hail from the Mogozuki clan." Togu's chuckle started to become an echoing howl within the harbor, which was the first time Ogatami's seen him without such a composed form. "What do you mean?" He asked curiously, his head impatiently twitching for the response. Togu ceased his laughter and looked up at the moon. "You're one of the last descendants of the Mogozuki Clan, and did you know, that your clan use to be one of the most deadliest mercenary tribes in the western hemisphere? Yet, you, their distant descendant, can't even hold a match to little ol' me?" He said to Ogatami, which came like a knife through his chest. Words couldn't even begin to form in his mouth. "Th..that's a lie! The Mogozuki are a proud clan of Konoha that died in the war!" He replied shakedly. Togu shook his head in both humor and disbelief. He crossed his arms and sighed, now, he officially saw Ogatami as a joke.

"Of course they did, they wouldn't want their precious jinchuriki to know that he is the product of a long line of criminals, now, would they? No- they'll want to keep you in check, their little chakra bitch. So when the time comes, you'll be their prized weapon." Ogatami retreated back to the wall a few steps behind him, this information was too much to bear for him right now. Both physically, mentally, and emotionally, he was drained. He looked down at the ground, away from Togu. At that point, he didn't care what the boy did to him, he was too absorbed in his own thought.

"Anyway, I have a business to run. The next time I see you, I hope you'll be more fun. Cousin." He disclosed, while vanishing in a mist as he walked away. Ogatami eyes started to close, he didn't know if he were dying, or simply going to sleep. He didn't care either way, he just needed to rest, in some way.
