    Spoiler:

Coming into this country under the guise of a traveller with no shinobi skills whatsoever had a drawback, which had only just occurred to Saitou. Whilst embarking upon his journey, he had not considered the repercussions of his deception; for the time in which he was here, he would be unable to train his physical or otherwise abilities. After all, the youth intended to avoid awkward questions about why a traveller felt the need to be able to fight, nor why he was so good at it. And of course, how come he was able to perform chakra based activities. However, Saitou was, whilst a lazy being, not prepared to allow himself slip, particularly when his life hung in the balance and being a bit rusty on his skills would serve to end his life. So, in order to avoid a tragic fate, he decided he would find a way to continue his training. Around midday, he finally found a perfect solution; during his walk towards his uncle's village, the brother of his father, which was drawing ever closer, he had done nothing but follow the path.

Now, he broke from its boundaries, his eyes set upon what he could see. A good few hundred metres to his left, which his compass indicated was east, stood a mountain, a surprisingly large distance from many others. Steep hills encompassed it, but it was the only mountain for a while. They were traditionally a very common sight in this part of the world, but when one went further south, towards the sea, they became less so.  No people seemed to be around the towering rock, and certainly, there were no villages or settlements around the base. That meant it was somewhat secluded. Or at least, the amount of people he could possibly run into there were few in number. Heading towards it, Saitou picked up his pace; he was slightly excited to finally be able to let off some energy. Walking for miles every day and doing nothing else whilst living a lie was incredibly dreary. At the beginning of his journey, there had been the thrill of going undercover. And yet, for some reason, lightning country locals weren't the type to be suspicious of a traveller with a very mundane and plausible back story with nothing remarkable about him. Indeed, Saitou had given them no reason to be so. He had composed himself well, acted normally, been polite and ordinary. Avoiding the attraction of attention was something the youth had never really had to work to do, thankfully for him, and his intentions in these parts were innocent.

Arriving at the destination his eyes had selected for him, he surveyed the area. No signs of other life that was of a human nature, but no flat ground either; Saitou would have much preferred a nice flat area, perhaps with a water source or the like around. He decided that he should walk around the base a bit, in an attempt to find somewhere he could use. One could suggest he move away from such an area, but the sharp rise and fall of the land meant that visual cover was provided from being spotted, which was or paramount importance, considering his situation. He could not just throw away his security. No, he would simply have to continue with his endeavour, persevere through and find a more suitable place for his needs.

A good hundred yards revealed something much more to Saitou's liking; not exactly 'just what he was looking for', but it would do. Five metres up into the mountain's craggy surface, a large hole, which, upon further inspection, revealed a large cavern. Flat ground, perfect. Unfortunately, the lighting was poor and no water sources were about. Never the matter, he thought; at least he was protected from the erratic, torrential downfalls that flicked on and off capriciously. That was worth something, surely. He set down his travelling bag, before burrowing into the depths of it to withdraw a kunai from the very bottom. Twirling it upon the trunk of each finger, he slowly paced the 'room', scanning its few features for anything that might trigger an idea. It was about twenty metres wide, but seemed to go a good thirty metres down into the mountain. However, there could be more, for that was all he could see, with the limited visibility of the room. Saitou had no intentions of exploring the depths of a cave, and so continued to look around; what really caught his eye was a large boulder at one side of the cavern, firmly cemented onto the floor as if it had been there for many, many years. He cast his mind back to a day in which he had split a boulder using purely Raiton ninjutsu; earth and rock constructs tended to be susceptible to such things. That had been a long while ago, and this sphere was much larger. However, that being said, during the time period since he had accomplished this fete, he had grown a lot stronger, and this was marked by his progression to the higher rank of Chûnin and his current rank as a Special Jônin. He knew, however, 'special' was just a term for 'not quite as good'. But it certainly meant he was on the right road to reaching such a position. Maybe today was a time to really test just how much progress he had really made?

To begin, Saitou did shuttle runs, sprinting from one end to the next. This in fact had no relativity to the exercise he had planned, but it kept his legs in a good position and got the blood flowing around his body. After a good dozen or so, he stopped, panting slightly from the physical exertion. He pivoted upon his feel and faced the boulder, drawing a line with his foot to mark roughly ten metres from it. His fingers flexing, he moved his hands into position, spreading them about before forming a line of hand seals. Already having decided upon his jutsu of choice, Saitou reminded himself that he best not go too far, for fear of running out of chakra for when he might need it later in his journey. Because of the fact he might run into hostiles on his travels, he decided it'd be best to take a rest before departing the cavern.

Sweeping his hand from one side of his body to the other, Saitou watched as a his energies amassed into a purple, curved... well, bolt of electricity, one could say, in the same refracted shape as his hand movement, but somewhat larger. The jutsu sped towards the boulder, and, having used more of his chakra than normal on such a simple jutsu, he was hoping it'd be more powerful than the usual. Indeed, it was. Leaping towards the mark it had left, Saitou examined the damage he had done, curious to see wether or not he'd made a sizeable dent. He had, as it happened; a crack worthy of some small level of pride. But he was still a while off splitting it, and so he moved back to his spot, concentrating even more this time. Welling up the not very boundless power inside of him, he formed the seals once again, ready to begin a long line of effort.

It wasn't until his fifth attempt that Saitou's break through - in quite a literal manner - arrived. This time, the sweeping line of energy had an almost audible buzz to it, and it hit the boulder slap bang in the middle, cutting a straight line through it with a satisfying but deafening crack. Now severed from its other half, the upper lump of rock slipped to the floor, resulting in yet another loud noise. Saitou grinned slightly, a small bead of sweat appearing upon his forehead. The Shinobi felt rather pleased with himself. He sat down, glad he'd managed such a thing, resting before he departed and began his long walk once more.
