| Subject: Yao, Ling [Konoha Jounin] Wed 27 Jan 2010, 5:40 am | |
| Basic Information:Name: Yao, Ling (Ling Yao) Secondary Title: The Alchemist Age: 20
Gender: Male Physical Appearance:
Ling stands about five feet, eleven inches tall, and is of a slender build, with toned, but not bulky muscles across his body. His Hair is long in the back and styled to be spiky in the front. It is a dull black color, and is very thing. He has large hands, though his feet are about normal sized, at a size 11, mens. He has regularly sized ears. His skin color is that of a pale Caucasian. On both his feet and hands are the callouses of many battles, and he has a few non descript battle scars across different parts of his body. His eyes are black, and thin, as he is from Xing, the asia of his world.
He wears non-descript white pants with a white sash, and simple black shoes that are rather functional for the work of a ninja. He wears Bandages on his arms and legs, as many ninja do. There are also some bandages on his torso. He wears a Yellow shirt with white trim that is open in the front with no buttons. On the bottom of his shirt are white flames that reach up a few inches. There are also these same white flames on his sleeves. Across his chest, but underneath his shirt is a belt on which the mechanism that holds his sword is attached to. His sword is slung diagonally and can be seen on his lower back. Personality: A very strange person indeed, Ling's personality isn't all that complex, though it is interesting. He is, on the surface, very personable, and extends his friendship to pretty much everyone. He seems rather oblivious at times, as if happy simply because he has nothing else to be. Except in very serious situations, he does not get angry or upset, even when confronted, or insulted. This playful nature is accented by a humorous undertone, and he often says things that are nonsensiscal in context, as well as ignoring certain boundries. He's known, for instance, for forcing others to take up his tab. He also uses his strange, foreign appearance to get out of sticky and unlucky situations, as noted with his 1st catch phrase.
In battle, Ling is thoughtful, assessing the situation and using both physical skill and mental psychology and trickery to overcome an opponent. With alchemy at his side, he can often scare an opponent, and enjoys doing so. It's also a great tool for him when it comes to creating things and aiding allies. In serious situations, Ling's personable nature and pleasantness is gone. When neccesary, he can be ruthless and cold, if it depends on his or a friend's survival, or a mission's completion. His dedication to his country, Konohagakure, is absolute and he is at peace with the fact that he may one day die for Konoha. His likes and dislikes, and fears are mostly not notable. However, his fear of death has the potential to change him.
Catch Phrase: "Whatt?? Me no, uh.. speaka this language ver well. Me is foreign!!" "Thanks for dinner!" "For my friends and my country I fight. I need no other reason"
Clan Information:https://ultimateshinobi.darkbb.com/approved-clans-f18/alchemy-clan-bring-on-the-hurt-t76.htmRank Information:Rank: Jounin Village Affiliation: Konohagakure no Sato
Special Information:Character Speciality: Main: renkinjutsu (Alchemy) Sub:Kenjutsu(Main: Sword. Sub:Exotic
Elemental Affinity: Main: N/A Sub: N/A Special Characteristics: Though not versed in taijutsu, he does emplore the ability of punches quite often, usually using alchemy to accent them.
During his training in his own world, He developed skills enough to dodge and counter thrown weapons at the rank of any jounin. On top of that, He developed similar endurance to most ninja.
In his own world, he was a skilled Kenjutsuist, and was able to use the sword incredibly efficiently, at the level of a master.
Skill Information:Weapon Template:Name: Water Bulbous Gloves Quantity: 4, 1 on each hand and 2 in pockets Rank: Moderate Appearance: Well, they aren’t all that special. They are built with a special carbon microfiber, making them hard to cut or pierce. They are a dull white in color, and fit nicely on his hands. On the knuckles of these bland gloves are tiny pustules of water. By clapping his hands before punching an opponent, He can super condense the water, and release the pressure that’s resulted in the form of a shockwave on contact with an opponent, or before contact, for a surprise attack. The amount of pressure is sufficient to break bones with a direct hit, or send his opponent back several meters with an indirect hit. He has a total of 15 of these pustules on each glove, and thusly will only release 1-3 per attack. He can release all 15, resulting in a much more deadly attack, but the result is muscle bruising in his hand from the impact. A release of 1 has a radius of 1 meter, and every pustule after that adds a half meter. Special Abilities/Characteristics: N/A Origin: Upon arriving in the strange world of ninja, Ling sought ways to even the playing field. He created these gloves so He could hope to match the strength of the ninja He would have to fight. Name: Uhhh…Sword Quantity: 1 Rank: Complex (alchemy Ranking, about B-A in naruto ranking) Appearance: Special Abilities/Characteristics: Ling's primary sword has complex alchemic modifications on it. It's main modification is a transmutation circle on the handle. By channeling alchemic energy, Ling can actively manipulate the weapon, changing it to meet his needs in battle. His only limitation is what he is working with. He can never create more than he has, so if he wants to make it larger or longer, he has to risk it's durability. The second modification has is a molecular change. To make it virtually indestructable, all of the Carbon in the steel is on the outside of the blade. Because of this, the blade is harder then diamond, and has a rather sharp blade which takes ages to dull. Origin: This was one of the first things that Ling made when he came into this world. It's construction was fairly simple, since he had Alchemy. Item Template:Name: Water walking shoes Rank: Pre Basic (E) Type: Enhanced Armor Natural Abilities: These shoes have tiny alchemic circles on the bottom of them. These circles, when activated, increases the density of the water directly beneath them exponentially, allowing it to be walked upon like stepping shoes. Name: Replacement/Rope Untie/Shunshin Transmutation circle Rank: Basichttps://ultimateshinobi.darkbb.com/forum.htmType: Jutsu Supplement Natural Abilities: This is a transmutation circle printed on the inside of the back of Ling's Yellow coat. By activating it, he almost instantaneously deconstructs and reconstructs his entire body, and moves to a nearby location. This imitates the effects of either The Replacement Technique, Rope Untie, or Body Flicker jutsu, and is bound to the same rules of each of these techniques, minus replacement, where he is just dodging. The one upside is that it isn't high speed movement, so it can be used to dodge an attack from all side or to escape confinement. The downside is that it's range is limited to just 10m. Name: Image Warping Sunglasses Quantity:1 Appearance: The Glasses of TRUE MANLINESS. These Glasses fully cover Ling's face and are triangular on both side. Special Abilities/Characteristics: Made with a special material, these glasses do nothing but protect from the sun, in every day life. However, the material reacts to chakra influenced vision. When someone under a genjutsu looks through these glasses, the image they see will be warped and wavy, notifying them that they are in a Genjutsu. This only works for 2 ranks below a non genjutsu user's rank. For some instances, this waviness will only be for a single area, such as with genjutsu that only change the appearance of one thing. Secondary ability, these glasses increase manliness by over 9000% Origin: Ling crafted these glasses by testing how genjutsu worked. It's the insertion of chakra to create an illusion. To do this, eyesight must be affected for the illusion to work. He created the material by going through trial and error, trying to find a material that changed when looked through with chakra affected vision. Sort of like with an eye ailment. Name: Spark Gloves Quantity: 2 Rank: D Appearance: White gloves, fit nicely, no visible seams Special Abilities/Characteristics: These gloves are coated in a special material, that when rubbed together quickly(such as in snapping your fingers), they spark. Origin: In order to create fire based attacks, Ling created these gloves, allowing him to create a spark, which he can then amplify, with alchemy. Name: Ling’s Big ol’ toothpick Rank: E Type: Basic Item Natural Abilities: None, it’s just a hard wood toothpick, that’s a good 8 inches long. He’s been known to use alchemy to use it offensively, but only in an insulting manner. Name: Distance Transmutation Kunai Quantity: 10 Rank: C/B/Moderate Appearance: A very simple kunai, except for the white tag on the end, which has a special transmutation circle in red, which resembles a pentacle. Special Abilities/Characteristics: To do a long distance transmutation, Ling will throw five of these, which form the points of the pentagram. This allows him to send alchemical energy over a distance ranging from 10 to 30 meters. He is limited to Basic and Moderate transmutations for this message, however. Ling can also draw pre-scribed pentagrams on an area he knows will be a battlefield, and use them for surprise attacks. The Major drawback, however, is that alchemy costs one rank more (a pre basic is basic, basic is moderate, and moderate is complex). Origin: Studying the eastern alchemy of his old country, Ling learned of this method of transmutation. It allows the channeling of energy through the earth and air, allowing transmutation to be done over a distance. Because the energy isn't used instantly, however, more must be used, hence the rank increase. [/list] Background InformationHistory: Born in a time and place much seperate from this world, Ling grew up in a very foreign atmosphere. His family was the highest ranking Family in a feudal world, ruled by a single emperor, with several families beneath him. These families constantly struggle for power, as the emperor will choose a son from one of them to become the next ruler of the country. From birth, he was raised with etiquette and prestige, the dignity of a well raised and educated Family... so naturally he became wild and free. Though retaining the etiquette, he was a wild child, doing crazy things and driving his parents mad. His parents were happy and raised him well, and since he was of the highest ranking family, he was spoiled, though he turned out respecting materials, not being a spoiled brat by any stretch of the imagination.
As a male, he was given a good education in a variety of subjects including Math, Science, Japanese, English, French, as well as other common subjects. On top of a fine education, he recieved extensive training in the art of the sword, and other close range weaponry. He learned to use them well, and was adapt at it at a small age. He was given extensive training in hand to hand fighting as well, but that would dissolve into only a working knowledge of it, as he got older. The Emperor of their kingdom fell ill when Ling was about 10, and there began an extensive search by all families to gain a cure for his Illness, hoping to gain his favor, in the hope that their son would be chosen. Ling's family was no different, and he traveled across a great desert at the age of 15 to a land of science and alchemy, in search of a cure and in turn the emperors favor.
The desert was a trial of manhood for ling, having only himself to rely on. He nearly died of both starvation and dehydration many times, but eventually over came it. In the desert, he came across the ruins of Xerxes, and ancient civilization that disappeared over night. He stayed the night in this village, using some of the rubble as a shelter. He awoke one morning and found a read glow above him. He looked up to see a huge broken stone with a red gem in the middle. Little did he know then, it was the transmutation for a philosophers stone. He left and overcame the rest of the desert, arriving in Amestris after a few more days travel.
Ling was greated fairly kindly in Amestris, and he found housing at a poor house. There he did research on popular scientists, doctors, and alchemists. He even sought out several of them, but found no cure for the symptoms that he described to them. He worked different jobs and eventually found a place of his own. It was then that he learned of the Fullmetal Alchemist. Ling sought out Edward Elric, and found him as he returned from a west Amestris city. Before Ling could talk with Ed about his Emperor's condition, he was caught up in a battle against Homunculi (artificial humans) with Ed. They fought hard and eventually vanquished a few of the Homunculus. From there, he traveled with Ed and his brother Al, fighting with them and trying to help them achieve their goals.
Though they got somewhere, Ling saw Edward and Alphonse slain before his eyes. in his anger, Ling killed the one who killed Ed, but was incredibly saddened by Edwards death. Though he did not know much of Alchemy, he decided to research it's finer arts and attempt to bring Ed and Al back to life. He studied alchemy extensively as he thought necessary for months. And eventually, he thought himself ready to perform the ultimate taboo of alchemy- The resurrection of a human life.
In a dark and grimly decorated room, Ling stood, eyes baggy, and his posture droopy from lack of sleep building up over the last few months. Before him was a giant circle, filled with arcane symbols and other various shapes and lines. In various parts of the circle were the following ingredients: Water, 35 litres. Carbon, 20kg. Ammonia, 4 litres. Lime, 1.5kg. Phosperus, 800g. Salt, 250 g. Niter, 100g. Sulphur, 80g. Fluorine, 7.5g. Iron, 5g. Silicon 3g. And trace amounts of fifteen other elements. In the center was two small containers that held the remains of Ed and Al, respectively. Ling took a deep breath and approached the edge of the circle. He got down on his knees and closed his eyes. Focusing on using the earth's energy (or so he assumed) as a resource. he slowly brought his clammy hands down to the circle, and opened his eyes suddenly. Vibrant blue energy began spiraling around the edge of the circle and a face of awe assumed itself on ling. slowly, the outline of two bodies could be seen in the middle of the circle. Tears were streaming down Lings face as he concentrated harder on the task at hand. But it was then that everything went awry. The Blueish hue to the energy turned to purple and black and seemed to consume any light in the room. Lings face held a terrified expression as the swirling darkness continued. Several black hands began to form from the edges of the circle. In the very middle, a giant eye formed, with a giant red pupil in the middle. Suddenly, one of the black hands struck him in his stomach, and Ling coughed up blood. Some of his lesser internal organs had been removed, as if they had just disappeared.
The next thing Ling knew, he was being hurtled through the eye and stood before a giant gate. There was a small white figure, outlined in black that was sitting partially cross legged. The figure had a huge grin on his face and spoke as if in every octave, resonating yet solitary at the same time: "You foolish child. This is your consequence for playing God." God said as he pointed to Ling's stomach "It's called rebound. But you'll learn all about that and the rest of Alchemy...when you go through the gate."With that the Figure grinned wider then ever, and waved his eerie hand to the gate. The Gate opened and the black hands from before reached out and grabbed hold of Ling pulling him into the gate. Though with no recognition of speed, Ling was thrust through a wealth of knowledge. Determination on his mind, he absorbed all of it, becoming a master of alchemy in this painful experience of learning. All of Alchemy was explained to him, medical, matter change, transmutations, symbols, everything, and also the art of instantaneous transmutation, using his body as a construction symbol and his arms joining together to make a circle. After what seemed like years, there was a vision of a green forest at the end of the stream of data. Ling could do naught but concentrate on it and go forward towards it, continuing to absorb knowledge.
After a large crack of what sounded like thunder, he was lying on his back, in the forest. He spat out blood as he felt his Organs failing to compensate. This was his price for the sin he committed. Though he could not grow new organs, he could re route the blood-flow of the organs he already had. He clapped his hands together, and placed them on his stomach, grunting in pain as the flow of blood was changed. He felt his breathing become easier, and he spat out no more blood.. though he wasn't 'healthy' by any means. He passed out from the remaining pain, and when he awoke, he was in the Konoha hospital. A young ninja had found him in the forest and carried him to safety.
His recovery was fairly quick, the medical ninja furthering his own repair of his blood flow. After his recovery, he trained at the ninja academy, learning basic ninja fighting skills. However, because of his age and his skills and alchemy, he was promptly promoted to Jounin.
Role-Play Sample: As the thunderclap hit, Sakura was not initially surprised. However, after a second or two of thinking she realized that it was really loud thunder, almost deafeningly loud. And there wasn't any lightning that close that had come before it. It was artificial. Running to the front of the camp where Nia and kani sat, she was about to tell them to be on the look out, that the thunder was fake, but they had obviously came to the same conclusion. Though it may have been on accident, because they were also nervous, questioning everything most definitely had it's upper points. Sakura joined the two, and was waiting, ready to fight, when two wolves ran from the forest, aiming for Nia and Kani. Before Sakura, could even move, Nia had taken a tanto in each hand, ready and concentrated, ran one through each of the wolves, who were mid stride, and had no way of altering their momentum. The strike had most certainly killed them.
As that happened, Sakura heard another sound, a rustling of leaves. She made several handsigns, and as she did so, her birds shot out of the trees at a high speed and attacked the wolf man mid-pounce. There was virtually no way to avoid all of them, especially with his attack concentrated on Sakura. As they hit, her opponent would feel as if the birds had some sort of strange effect, as a feeling of freezing enveloped his body, most likely forcing him to shiver uncontrollably. He would have no real way to decipher it as a genjutsu, but Sakura didn't rule it out as impossible. Instead, she jumped back as her opponent would've landed on her, and got ready to form the next attack.
As she did, Kani ran at high speed, and just as the wolf would've landed on the ground, aimed a strong, well placed kick to his stomach, as she shouted "Rising Wind!" the kick would definitely cause alot of pain if it hit, and would doubtlessly send the opponent back a few meters, creating a nice little bubble of space between her and the half human's most likely deadly abilities.
