Helping at the Quarry: Mission Topic for Wind and Dark Shadow

Saya waits quite patiently on the path leading out of town. The quarry that needed help was a ways out of town, and she’d been assigned a partner this time. Quite silly, really, as she did the work of ten laborers last time she was there. She’d already made a name for herself at the mine, and was only going back to continue what she considered to be some of the best strength training she’d ever been through. The heavy stones wore her out last time, but she still hoped she could get more done.

Like last time, Saya was without her armored cloak and mask. Her helmet and spear had also been left at home, though she was still covered almost completely in a shockingly large array of weapons. Few bits of her exposed skin were left without a weapon attached to them somewhere. Her thighs held shuriken and kunai and throwing axes, her hips holding her katana, chain, and paired short swords. Her body was wrapped in a loose covering of soft, light purple, robes, though it did little to cover her body. Beneath and easily seen ending beyond the sleeveless robe, and halfway down her thighs was tight covering of black steel fishnet, a layer of protection that had, at one time, placed her family on the map as holder of some of the finest craftsmen in the land. The secrets of her family’s chainmail had since become more common in the world, and few others were willing to believe such a jutsuless family was able to fashion them, but her clan knew better.

She waits quite patiently, lingering on the path and standing at attention. Her left hand rests on the handle of her katana, her fingertips tracing gently over the crisscrossing silk wrapping that held the shark skin in place beneath it. Her sword seemed quite plain from a distance, and was even rather featureless up close; however it was a true case of form over function. The blade inside her scabbard was one of the finest swords a genin could have ever gotten their hands on, and was easily 100 years old.

Silently her mind wanders, wondering who they were going to pair her with this time. So far she had been unimpressed by the lackadaisical mannerisms of her fellow Kirigakure peers. They seemed to be slow, late, and lacking in discipline when it came to these minor seeming missions. Minor or not, a mission was a mission in Saya’s eyes. She waits now, 20 minutes ahead of schedule herself, and wondering if her temporary partner was going to be on time. There was a great deal of work to get done, after all.

Sazuki wakes up from his bed lifting the blankets from his bed up and moveing his legs to the larger side of the bed in a sitting position.He was wondering what type of partner he had received for the mission.He was hopeing he didn't have to do much labor while there.He got up and walked down to the bathroom he brushed his teeth and then turned on the shower.He walked in and washed his hair and body and walked out and he took a towel and made himself dry.He went back to his room grabing his outfit he put on his black pants his shoes.He took his tan cloak and his head band and put those on aswell.He went to his desk and made his hair perfect.He quickly grabed his monkey looking puppet and put it on his shoulder and ran out the door.He was ready for his mission he didn't even eat yet he wanted to meet his partner badly.He started to run down the streets and then he decided to walk up a building and jump from roof to roof until he got to a food shop.He walked in and asked for some ramen he quickly ate it and sat down on a bench and ate.Until he saw a old lady walking in the road and saw someone with a cart running full speed and couldn't stop he threw the ramen down and ran up to the old lady and carried her to the other side of the road just in time.She thanked him and gave him some carrots.He didn't accept it and said that he doesn't require such a thing and ran off to the front gates of the village.While walking to the gates he saw many things drug dealers hookers muggers and people hideing in the allie ready to jump someone who isn't a ninja.He saw someone with a cart who needed help.He helped pull it to his destination which was far away from the village gate so he ran atop roofs again until he got to the village gate he saw someone there and walked up to them.He then said "Hi,you must be my partner.Im Senju,Sazuki its nice to meet you."

Saya reponds to his greeting with a short nod of her head her voice slipping out with a quiet calmness. "I am Saru Saya." She said, while adding a small but respectful bow to her greeting. Her eyes set to carefully but quickly sizing up her partner. He was a little young, in her mind, and didn't quite seem the type to be doing such labor. Why the hell had he been sent to such a clearly physically challenging mission. Well, perhaps he was an earth user, and could get it all done with one jutsu.

"We should get moving. The quarry is a ways out of the village, and they will be expecting us. If you care for the quicker method of travel.." she says, her voice trailing off as she draws her sword only two inches from its scabbard. She draws her thumb across the small portion of exposed blade to draw a few drops of blood. She weaves a quick pattern of hand seals which anyone in the know would recognize as Kuchiyosi, then leans down and places her hand against the ground. "Summoning Jutsu.. Deathwind Demon Bird."

Smoke erupts around her as her summoning splits reality and appears on their plane of existence, standing only slightly taller than Saya herself. The beast was a horror, a clear and obvious predator. It was a dinosaur that kept itself low to the ground, and walked on two long, powerful legs. The raptor shook once as the smoke dispersed, ruffling the blue-green feathers that covered most of it's body. Without a word Saya leaps up onto it's back and makes herself comfortable. It was certainly a strange sort of horse, but the creature looked like it was made for speed.

"Don't worry yourself, Kusamaru here will not bite you. He will get us to the quarry in a quarter the time we could jog there ourselves. Hop on." says the ninja girl as she twists around in her seat. There was no saddle on the creature, just straps of the harness which offered something to hold onto. The dinosaur levels it's beedy red eyes on Sazuki for a moment, it's lips curling into a predatory grin and exposing its hundred razor sharp teeth.

After nicely greeting his partner he hears them say that there name was Saru Saya.Sazuki said "Its a pleasure to meet you Saru".A little bit after that he hears his partner say that they were traveling quicker he didn't like the sound of that.Then all of a sudden a puff of smoke had come forth and in the smoke was a raptor.Seeing the raptor scared him for a couple of seconds because that animal is extinct.He then realizes that its not a real raptor and its only a summoning.He then saw Saru hop on the back of the raptor.He then said "We are going to ride that thing it has no saddle it looks unsafe."Without a single answer he would climb on the back of the raptor right behind Saru.He then held on to the strap as if he would be killed if he didn't let go.He was so happy that Saru was on Kirigakure's side if not he would be killed by a dinosaur some day.He didn't like the look the raptor had on his face but he was just glad its going to get them there faster and its not going to bite his head off or try to kill him atleast.It felt so unsafe to be on this thing but yet it felt safe all at the same time which was a new felling for Sazuki to have.

“You’re going to want to hold on tight.” Saya said as Kusamaru took his first few steps forward. The dinosaur kept low to the ground crouching barely lower than a typical war horse would have stood. In spite of its two legged stride, each step it took was fluid but slow. Of course, after her sentence was done, that changed. Hopefully, her partner took her advice. In an instant Kusamaru leans forwards more and goes from a slow walk to an all out sprint and rockets forward at an amazing speed. Still within the confines of the forest, the trees and ground around them flew past around them.

Kusamaru sticks to the ground for only a moment before leaping upwards into the trees and scaling one to it’s highest point. The dinosaur was amazingly agile and fast, the monster’s body made for this sort of speed, it’s powerful legs and dexterous hands tearing through the bark of trees for a grip more secure than even more shinobi. “Think of walking on water. Focus your chakra, and keep your grip. If you fall off, it’s a long way down.” She said without looking back, doing so herself to ensure she won’t fly off as Kusamaru reaches the canopy of the forest. From the top of one tree to the top of the next the raptor jumps, easily clearing the large distances and making fantastic progress through the forest.

The mist cloaked trees beneath them offered no resistance to their travels as the three all but fly across the landscape. A path of falling leaves falls from each tree they land in, but she wasn’t worried about being followed so close to home. The quarry they were going too was still well within the borders of Kiri’s governmental reach, so no enemies should be interfering with this mission.

At the rate they were traveling it only took them some ten minutes of sprinting to cover the several miles between Kiri and the quarry. The open pit mine stood before them in no time, and they could soon set to work. The gathered miners all cheered at the arrival of the two shinobi. Saya had been here before, and her previous feats of stamina and strength had given her something of a name amongst the laborers. She grins in spite of herself and waves as Kusamaru finally slows down, and eventually stops. Saya remains seated on his back for the moment, patting his neck as though he was some sort of horse. Saya and the dinosaur were clearly good friends.
