Yoroi Kaguya

Through the years he had spent with Tora, Yoroi had learned a vast amount of things about the world outside of the village gates. He had learned that it was dangerous to get to close to people that wore masks or strange symbols on their being, he had learned how to find his way in places he knew nothing about and even track and hunt animals for food. Along the lines, these skills further evolved to the point where he could define plants that were edible and which were venomous, even picking out some that had some faint healing properties and helped whenever he had received an open wound from a wild animal he had to fight as a means of protecting his territory. As his fighting for survival became more and more frequent, the young Kaguya learned that he had the ability to grow bones from his skeletal structure that could be used as a means to protect himself from the creatures that would seek to kill him, eat him, steal his food and take his territory from him. Had it not been for the discovery of his powers when he was still a child, he would have probably died without the guidance of the old tiger that had looked after him like a father. During those days, the other predators of the woods knew that there was but one king around, and he was not to be messed with.

When Tora disappeared, it did not take long for the other predators to seek his title and claim his territory for their own. Even though animals and humans were very different, they all had the same things in mind that were more important than anything else, territory, food and a high status that no one would dare mess with. As years went by for him, the frequent fighting got really dull, though it did make the young man into the capable close ranged fighter he was today. At the time, it was the only thing that kept him alive when there were hungry predators during the day and during the night. When the time finally came upon him when he had to fight a massive bear that had always been living out in the mountains, the fight left him scarred and shaken, coming to realize that he could not be vigilant twenty four hours a week for the rest of his life, so he had to find out something else that could help him ward off attackers. Being exposed to the sounds animals made as he was crafting totems out of bone, prepared food to be eaten or went out to get water from the creek, he slowly learned how to differentiate the sounds they made and piece together various languages, as well as similarities between animal species.

Figuring that it would be a good idea to study and learn the languages spoken by animals, it could help him keep animals out of his domain by simply asking them to leave or to figure out what it was they feared. One of the hardest languages he had to piece together was the one spoken by the avian species, finding that there were about a hundred different dialects spoken by the various sub-species, so the entire study took him a very long time, and this was just for a single species. The more he learned about it though, the more it often annoyed him when he heard birds singing in the early morning, figuring out just what they told one another sounding like he had been caught in some crowded human town. When it came to that, he often buried his head in the large amount of soft furs he had gathered and used as blankets, pillows and mattress, blocking out most of the sound but always letting just a bit of it through, though he could handle the small amount he was forced to hear. As the language of the avian slowly burned into his mind, so did he learn more and more about the other animals and the manner in which they communicated.

Learning that some animals hated the scent of urine, he made sure to urinate in various spaces to create somewhat of a scented area in which his camp was centered. Just like this, he found out that others hated fire, to which he responded by making a large bonfire in the center of his camp that would later be used as a means to cook his food. Others hated the scent left behind by their dead, which inspired Yoroi to take up his hobby of sculpting totems of animal bones and use them to further ward of unwanted animals. Through it all, he set himself down as the new king of the woodlands, taking the reigns left by his father. Now, he could spend his days in relative peace, speaking to the birds every morning and every evening before he went to bed. Some would find it to be a rather useless skill, though it had always helped out Yoroi, even to the present day.
