| Yoroi Kaguya | | | Ever since he had learned how to speak to animals, Yoroi had used the bones of predatory animals and turned them into totems that were scattered around the perimeter of the camp, warding the animals that wanted to kill him away from his little home. His crafting was once meant solely to ward off the animals that had the potential to kill him if he was not paying attention to them, though this changed over the course of time. Though it started as a thing that simply had to be done, it worked its way up into becoming a hobby of his. After all, the alternative was to drop the bodies of dead animals around the camp, and that in itself was not quite the kind of thing he was interested in doing. When he thought about it, doing such a thing would just welcome carrion feeders that in turn would need to be dispersed so he would not have to drag a new corpse to that location and go through the same thing each day. Despite lacking the tools needed to accurately craft things, Yoroi taught himself how to use things like sharp rocks and his own bone weaponry in order to create the tools he needed. Though it was always hard to figure out what to start out with, once he got started with an idea, finishing everything up just fell into place almost on it’s own. Like some kind of a god given talent, it seemed that physical combat was not the only thing he really exceeded in. As time passed, he created simple cylinders with many kanji he had picked up on his travels with Hani, writing simple texts such as “Keep out” or “Haunted Mountain”, things that led up to him becoming known as the spectre of the graveyard mountain. Though that was all just a matter of altering the perception of the civilians of Konoha, animals were not so easily scared off with just scent. As a result of this, Yoroi made his own rope out of plant fiber, carved small pieces of bone and worked them all into dream catcher that he hung in the trees. The combined scent and the sound coming from the aerie dream catchers was often enough to scare both human beings and simple minded animals away. Using his wits and his natural talent for craftsmanship, there was no doubt that his abilities would grow with the years that followed. [Three years later] Due to the rather maccabre appearance of bone sculptures, Yoroi switched to the crafting of wooden sculptures, though he still uses his bone tools to do it. Rather than actually making any money off of it, he tends to keep the prettiest ones for himself back in the apartment while handing the others to people who actually want to have them. Everyone needed a hobby to keep them occupied when there was nothing else to fall back on, and this was Yoroi’s, simply sculpting and giving shape to a simple material. Wood was just one of the things he worked with, being capable of creating sculptures out of various kinds of stone and ice, though he hated to work with the latter. Making something that would not last was a waste of time, which was why he had only practiced on ice during the winter as a means of further increasing his area of expertise. On the subject of increasing his expertise, he had also created much more fine equipment for his sculpturing, all made out of his own skeletal structure. Being far more durable than mere steel, his own creations had become much more useful as his control over the Shikotsumyaku grew, allowing more elaborate crafting tools with a high durability, meaning they would not just break off when he was in the process of creating another piece of art. Trying to create the perfect gift for his sister, the young man kept practicing with precious gems and minerals, though these were a lot harder to craft into finer shapes due to their somewhat brittle nature. Even though he would not be able to craft anything out of jade, sapphire or ruby just yet, he would keep trying to increase his mastery until he could make things that would be worth a lot of money, hopefully before Kimiko and Toshiro got married, figuring that a well crafted statue or figurine would be worth more than just a random bouquet. | | |
