So,

Daedalus and I have been talking about some jutsu and size/weight increasing techniques. Orochimaru's snakes, Jiraiya's toads, Nagato's Zoo and the Tailed Beasts easily crushed forests and buildings beneath their weight, and they are all pretty much in the same size category. This is what got me thinking about how much such a creature would actually weigh, since Jiraiya's "Food Cart Destroyer" technique called down a fatass toad to instantly kill another large serpent by literally dropping it on top of it and crushing it's organs and spine.

My information gathering told me that if an animal of S rank is 100ft/30m tall, they would be between 150 and 170 tons in weight. I got this from real world logic though, seeing as the Blue Whale is 33m in length and weighs 170 tons, which is why I logically made my summons and stuff like this too. When Akimichi use S ranked multisize, they get this same thing, which is why Daedalus and I have been wondering about the whole Weight matter.

What is the staff opinion, go with something unrealistic and light for it's size, or go with the logical thing?

Unrealistic in my opinion, because any LAND creature that weighed that much would crush itself under its own weight.

Which then brings up the question as to how much an Akimichi would weigh. Would they increase their weight to levels Spectre mentioned? Would it be proportional to their increase in size? Or would they basically just be balls of hot air and the only real strength of the increase being the area of their attacks?

I've done some math, with Clan Master SC clan jutsu increase by 40%. Super Multisize grows an Akimichi to 40m tall, 56m with the SC.

If I stood 2m tall and weighed 400lbs, it would be a 28x increase in height, if weight also increases then that becomes 11200lbs or 5 metric tons.

That is the result of a 1:1 ratio for increase of size and mass for the technique. Realistically, yes something like that would collapse under it's own weight. This being Naruto however, is something like this waveable due to chakra? Or am I just blowing up like a balloon and only weigh as much as before, thus gaining no real increase in power beyond simply having bigger fists?

That

It would have to be a fair compromise, or the Akimichi's strongest skill would become utterly useless, especially when paired with other skills and certain rules some people want to push through for clans.

I think it's too easy to say that any animal that large would crush itself under its own weight, without water displacing the weight. The earth once had much larger land creatures roaming its surface, creatures like Bruhathkayosauru are hard to imaging in a time when elephants are the largest land animal.

Don't think we can really use dinosaurs as examples. Science is still scratching their head over that for the most part, and their best guess is a mixture of plentiful food, plentiful oxygen, and mixed cold/warm bloodedness, with a dash of evolutionary "Really big things are really fucking hard to kill and eat."

But I digress, let's just leave it and handwave it at "yadda yadda because chakra."

I agree completely that the Earth in its current state could not support such life. The plants and animals in the food chain then are much different than those of today. I was more or less playing devils advocate. Presenting the argument that such animals can and have existed.

So will certain amounts of maximum weight be made for different sized summons and things of that kind, or will it be up to us to make something logical for it?

I'd say that yes, it would resume its logical weight. Though, when applying weight Vergil, be careful that you're making accurate assumptions. Whales are extremely high in muscle and fat content, while an animal like snakes are not nearly as much. A whale would, therefore, weigh more based on its actual size, the size of its bones, and its compact form. And, as far as Akimichi, I would answer the same. For the sake of ease alone, if nothing else, I'd vote that they are not only growing larger, but becoming proportionally heavier and heavier as well. Yes, yada yada because chakra.

Any other thoughts or opinions that need to be slipped in before this is solved?

I would have to stop you there, seeing as snakes are all muscle and bone, and muscle weighs a lot more than mere fat does, so I personally would not say that a whale and a snake of equal size would be that different. It's common knowledge that muscle is heavy and that a snake pretty much made up of all that. But this is just one of many issues I have had with animals that have to be taken up with staff, just like the sizes/dimension and whether the animals who have a venom or venom-like substance (harmful bacteria) as a part of their body such as snakes, platypus, komodo dragons, certain lizards and frogs, etc etc should not force them to get medical ninjutsu.

So yeah, i'd say "Get those staff topics moving again", cause last I heard, someone was busy derailing those threads with talk of Bijuu, which is totally not relevant and should be taken up in Actual Bijuu discussions, not talk of summons.
