| Subject: Operation Rescue: Wanizame's Race to Save People Mon 03 May 2010, 5:32 am | |
| The call had gone out and Wanizame had moved rather quickly with Nigai soaring overhead like the shadow of death acting as salvation this evening. He had decided on the market district, sure that some stall owner had thought to sell starfall memorabilia to those returning from the temple. With the structures on this side of town meant to act more like a bazaar than a habitat, it wasn’t exactly farfetched that some of the stalls may have become damaged or even collapsed. Finally jumping off of a roof and into a mess of people, he began shouting calmly but confidently instructions to those around him.
“People of Kumo, gather in the temple up the mountain. There are people there ready to help the injured and to shelter those whose homes have collapsed in the tremors. Head up the mountain towards the temples, there is help and safety there!”
Nigai let out a cry, her bird’s eye view catching site of something shifting in nearby rubble that seemed humanoid in shape. Wanizame looked up at the abnormally large crow and nodded, gently wading through scattered crowds towards the site of the fallen stand so that he might get a better idea of what was going on. Hands tugging at a tarp, he uncovered an elderly man with a broken leg trapped beneath what remained his of his once proud fruit stand.
With one hand reaching into his bag, Wanizame was quick to call up to Nigai “Get the rubble off of him so I can get to that leg. He may actually need you to fly him up to the temple by yourself. That won’t tire you out too much, will it madame Crow?”
“Not at all Wormchild,” Nigai’s feet clutching canvas and wooden shaft, even the fruit bench that had crushed the man’s leg, before giving another powerful flap of her wings that sent her slightly skywards. "Just the perfect opportunity to stretch my wings." With a sway and a release, the debris came down with a crash as Nigai made room for Wanizame to work.
Tugging a pair of twin pieces of wood out of his medkit, he quickly gathered the bandages that would become a splint for the man now moaning in pain. Hands steadying the leg, a quick jerk forced a scream to erupt from the lips of the man as the bone was forcibly set back into proper alignment. Wrapping the splinted leg, he motioned to Nigai who gingerly gripped the man without tearing him to shreds with her talons.
As Wanizame exited the site of the fallen fruitstand, he was followed by clouds of dust and debris from Nigai’s take off. Pushing off of the street and back up onto the rooftops, he double checked the merchants before heading off to the next area of town. It was going to be a long long night and he hadn’t even begun to double check the other areas of town. As Nigai headed back to the temple, Wanizame set off towards the homes closest to the marketplace, shouting a reminder to Nigai.
“Madame Crow! Don’t forget to give them a progress report at the Temple!”
“Of course Wormchild, of Course”
