| Subject: Hoshigaki Clan [Finished] Wed 22 Jan 2014, 10:02 pm | |
| Clan Name: Hoshigaki (Dried Persimmon) Location: None. The Hoshigaki are Nomads, roaming over the world and mostly sticking close to places with high amounts of air moisture, lakes, rivers or seas nearby. Though they are sometimes found in the mainland, most always feel a craving to wander and even explore the world. Signature Traits: The Curse of Blood: A genetic trait that all of the Hoshigaki share with one another is the fact that they have a certain manner of response to blood. When they see a fair amount of blood or somehow taste it, the Hoshigaki can suddenly have a fit of berserker rage. While this is controlled in most social situations, they are not nearly as controlled in battle. When their senses are triggered, they ignore things such as pain as they set out on a collision course with their target, aiming to spill more blood. It is due to this state of berserker rage that they might fly into that most of the Hoshigaki are trained to control this when they are still traveling with the nomad group. While it is extremely hard to fight a primal urge that is as much a part of their being as the urge to sleep or eat, many of the Hoshigaki are capable of fighting it. Some however, choose not to do so, embracing the darker side of their clan in battle for the sake of ignoring pain and utterly destroying their enemies in a bloody massacre. While their senses are keen enough to smell blood from almost a hundred meters away due to special sensory cells inside of their nostrils, they do not get triggered by this nasty genetic trait if they do not in fact see or taste it.
Deep Ones: Among the Hoshigaki, there are two body types. There are those who appear to be completely human from the outside, as well as the ones that appear to be part human, part fish. Those that are human share none of the external features of the ones that are considered "True Hoshigaki", except for the fact that they have dark or bright blue hair and a dark eye color, these often being brown or grey. The True Hoshigaki have no facial hair, possess sharp, shark like teeth and have a light or dark blue skin-type, often being compared to the mythological Samebito. Due to their special bodies, a member of the Hoshigaki clan is capable of breathing both on land and under water. Both those that are more human and those who are true Hoshigaki have special lungs and air pathways that will allow them to ingest water, take every bit of oxygen out of them and breathe bother back out when they exhale. The true Hoshigaki have even developed gills on their body to allow this process to work all the more smooth.
Water Style: Every member of the Hoshigaki clan possesses the elemental nature of water, for this is a part of their genetics. Every young Hoshigaki has to go through a rite of passage where they must show their mastery over several water style techniques, after which they will be allowed to break away from the nomad group and enter into the world as an adult. Most Hoshigaki find that the water element is not only empowering but find it to be the most versatile of all the elements, leading many to seek true mastery over it by making it their main source of offensive, defensive and supplementary techniques. In more ways than one, the members of the Hoshigaki not only try to be somewhat artistic with their utilization of water, but be incredibly lethal at the same time, often possessing jutsu mimicking dangerous marine animals such as sharks.
Water Style p.2: Most members of the Hoshigaki clan are often considered to have powerful chakra, a type that most sensors consider to be different from that of the average human being. Though this does not hold any real benefits such as having more of it than others, there is a rather peculiar thing about it. It is however outed through their special clan-based ninjutsu. When performing their special clan based ninjutsu, they can perform aquatic or contact-based techniques that, on contact, can drain drain the chakra from their adversary and add it to their own. Drawing their chakra into their jutsu or simply drawing it into their own chakra pool, they will be able to utilize it whenever they feel like it as if it were their own. While simultaneously exhausting their opponent through these means, their physical energy and the amount of techniques they will be able to use will decrease the more these clan techniques are applied.
Fish: The Hoshigaki, being a clan that has a strong connection to the watery world has a similarly strong connection to the various forms of life that dwell within it. Though this is limited to fish, very few Hoshigaki possess the same fish species. While a lot of them choose to take a shark due to the many similarities they share with them, they are not limited to them. The Hoshigaki clan member can pick any kind of fish species to have as their summon, be they sharks, marlin, piranha, angler-fish, whatever suits their fancy. All Hoshigaki take pride in their fish partners, having an innate ability to communicate with them in a language the average human being simply cannot comprehend.
Kekkei Genkai: Aquatic Empowerment As has been stated above, the Hoshigaki are true masters of the water element, possessing bodies that are well adapted to fighting in watery terrain. Their true power however is their ability to perform powerful aquatic or contact based techniques that draw chakra from enemies or even their ninjutsu. Utilizing their chakra absorbing abilities through special clan ninjutsu, there are several ways in which this can be expressed. When one of the Hoshigaki clan techniques are used on a target that fails to protect himself from taking the full brunt of it, a certain amount of chakra will be taken from them and given to the Hoshigaki clan member. This is however temporary, for at the end of the thread, the body will expel the foreign chakra as it is no longer focused on battle, thus pushing it out to get rid of it. The chart for this occurrence is stated below.
Through Ninjutsu: Takes From Target: C (10% of cast jutsu cost) Takes From Target: B (20% of cast jutsu cost) Takes From Target: A (30% of cast jutsu cost) Takes From Target: S (50% of cast jutsu cost)
Through Contact techniques: Takes From Target: C (2cp) Takes From Target: B (6cp) Takes From Target: A (10cp) Takes From Target: S (15cp)
Ninjutsu: When one of the Hoshigaki clan abilities collides with a fire or water technique, they will draw chakra from them and cancel them out in the process. In doing so, their attack gets weakened, though it is not beaten as it continues to move forward in an attempt to still hurt the target as much as possible. While attacks of lower rank are negated to the point where they do not even slow down the Hoshigaki clan technique, attacks of equal rank are negated while the Hoshigaki clan technique becomes weakened to the point where it can still hurt people, but is a far cry from what it originally was. If the technique it clashes with is of one rank higher, both techniques are negated completely.
Advanced Elements: Along the lines, the members of the Hoshigaki clan will certainly come to fight against members from clans that possess advanced elemental natures. Though it does little to certain elemental combinations, there are a couple of them that are weak against the Hoshigaki clan's jutsu as well. These elemental natures have been stated below for easy reference.
- Summary:
Lava: As this is an elemental nature that is by itself already weak to water, Hoshigaki clan techniques can use their chakra draining effect to increase the rate at which a lava based attack turns to stone by being cooled rapidly while also losing the chakra molded into it. Summarized: Lava vs Water (Hoshigaki) of an equal rank will cancel each other out on contact, meaning there is no victor.
Boil: Because boil release changes the state of water into something that is usually incredibly hot vapor, this same thing happens to the Hoshigaki clan techniques. Before this happens, the jutsu is capable of draining a small portion of chakra from said attack, thus weakening it a bit before it comes rushing through to get to it's target. Summarized: Boil vs Water (Hoshigaki) of an equal rank will result in the boil release technique being weakened by roughly 20% before it overtakes the jutsu and makes it evaporate completely. As such, Boil release is the winner during such a clash.
Wood: Although wood normally thrives against water based techniques, the Hoshigaki clan's chakra draining heavily affects something of this caliber. By draining it's chakra, the branches of wood release techniques shrivel up and decrease in size, thus making the technique weaker, though it will eventually beat the water style technique and push on. Summarized: Wood vs Water (Hoshigaki) of an equal rank will result in the mokuton being weakened by a solid 50% before it rushes through the water technique and moves on towards it's target. As such, Wood release is the winner of such a clash.
Storm: Storm release techniques are lightning techniques mixed with water techniques that create energy beams. Through the Hoshigaki chakra draining, the bonds making up the storm release energy beams and thus decreasing the amount of force they can exert when Summarized: Storm vs Water (Hoshigaki) of an equal rank will result in the storm being weakened by a solid 50% before it rushes through the water technique and moves on towards it's target. As such, Storm is the winner of such a clash.
Blaze: Blaze release techniques are quite potent against normal water techniques due to the intense heat that can evaporate water on contact, thus weakening attacks used against it before the clash, allowing it to cancel out water or even push through. When faced against the draining effect of Hoshigaki chakra, the initial victory it has before the initial clash is countered with the draining of chakra that takes place upon the initial hit, meaning it will no longer beat the Hoshigaki clan jutsu by default. Summarized: Blaze vs Water (Hoshigaki) of an equal rank will result in the fire evaporating part of the water jutsu while the draining chakra takes part of the blaze release technique's power away. As such, a clash between these two elements comes down to the specifics of the jutsu, though in most cases, they will cancel one another out.
Ice: Ice release techniques are known to be strong to water, easily freezing it over. This is no different with Hoshigaki clan techniques, even though the temporary draining of chakra will slow down the freezing just long enough for someone to take note of it being stronger than your regular water style technique. Summarized: Ice vs Water (Hoshigaki) of an equal rank will result in the ice release technique being weakened by roughly 20% before it overtakes the jutsu and makes it freeze completely. As such, Ice release is the winner during such a clash.
History: Mythology: Many would claim that the Hoshigaki are a people created through dark, forbidden Ninjutsu, crossing human DNA with that of marine animals such as sharks. While it was a legit thing to believe in, there was much more to it than met the eye. Many would choose not to believe in the truth, for it was simply too strange to be true. However, there are those who know the truth, people who hold some of the few recordings of history that many believe to be mythological tales made up by people to scare others. Whether humanity wanted to believe that it was true or not, the origin of the Hoshigaki is a tale of hardship that most members of the clan don't even acknowledge, though that does not make it any less true.
Created by the eight dragon kings that rule over the oceans, the Samebito were used as followers and inhabitants of the deep, similar to how humanity has been created by the Shinto gods to live on land worship them. Over the years, the Samebito became more aware of the world above them, a place they were never supposed to visit, for they would not be allowed to come back home. On a faithful day, a Samebito going by the name of Kojin went against the wishes of his gods, swimming up to the world above. As he set foot on land, he saw various forms of life that he thought looked outlandish and strange. Though he got used to it, he roamed over the dry land to the point where he found a small village inhabited by humans. Being afraid to get any closer, he spent several weeks just watching them as they spent their time doing the same things the Samebito did at the bottom of the ocean.
When he was found out by a woman, the two were scared of one another at first, though they soon learned to look past their own looks and fell in love. Though he knew that he had to keep all of this a secret from the dragon kings and his people, all of that changed when he learned that his beloved was pregnant with his child. Seeing no other way than to confront his fears, he said his goodbyes to the people of the town he had spent so much time with, returning to the world beneath the surface. When the other Samebito asked him where he had been, he told them about a world above the water that was much more beautiful and full of mystery than the world they lived in, others started getting curious and went to the world above themselves. Obviously, the dragon kings noticed what was going on and discussed what they should do about it for seven days. At the end of those seven days, the kings emerged full of rage in the city of the Samebito.
Angry with Kojin's blatant disregard for the rules of the dragon kings, all the Samebito were expelled from the underwater kingdom as hundreds of Samebito washed upon the shores of the Shinobi world, no longer capable of returning home. Cursed with the curse of the shark, many are set off by the scent and sight of blood, entering a state of bloodlust. Not being able to adapt to the world as Kojin had done, over ninety percent of the Samebito population died trying to get back home. Those that survived started living among humanity just like Kojin had done, and as such, months passed. When Kojin's son was born, the first of the Hoshigaki were born, being part Samebito, part human. Where Kojin had fallen in love with a human being, so had many others fallen for humans, leading to the birth of many other Hoshigaki, some looking more like Samebito, some looking more like humans. As such, those that did not want to return home survived and made families of their own, ensuring the survival of their people.
Founding of the Hoshigaki Clan Many years after the stories of Samebito race, the people that looked like Shark man had taken on a name for themselves, the Hoshigaki. While they had slowly become accepted by humanity, they were still considered to be weird in appearance, which was why they never really settled in one place as a group. It was during this time that many clans prepared for war, fighting other clans for money and the glory of wealthy families that had plenty of it to spend. Having no place of their own, the current head of the clan, Amikiri, seemed to believe that it would be in their best interest to use their abilities and control over the water element and put themselves up for hire. And so it happened that the Hoshigaki clan started fighting in the many wars between land owners.
They were not hired alone, for on their very first job, they were to fight alongside the Hozuki clan. Being angry with one another for being doubted by the contractor not believing they would be strong or capable enough on their own, they put their troubles aside and fought their first enemy together. Finding that the Hozuki complimented and added to their abilities, the first battle was easily won. Knowing that they could get a good thing going as a group, Amikiri and the leader of the Hozuki decided to team up. It was through this pact that the Hozuki clan and the Hoshigaki become a force to be feared, their mastery over the water element being so great that many clans were entirely destroyed in their wake. Torn to shreds and washed away by the waves, these clans were erased from history and are entirely forgotten in the present day and age.
The only downside to their collaborated form of combat was the curse placed on the Samebito of old, a curse passed down through the blood of the Hoshigaki clan. As soon as blood was spilled, the Hoshigaki entered a state of bloodlust, washing over the battlefield like berserkers, ripping through their enemies as waves crashed down upon them, filled with bloodthirsty sharks or simply torn apart by the Hoshigaki and Hozuki. When the fight ended, the Hozuki often found themselves having to restrain the Hoshigaki while they were in their berserker state, though thanks to their bloodline, this was quite easily done without having to put themselves in harms way. Many years passed, years filled with war and bloodshed, sometimes losing their own people to the seemingly endless fighting and senseless slaughter. When the first villages were founded, the Hozuki gladly took the offer to join a founding village.
The Hoshigaki, while happy that they would no longer need to lose their own people for money decided not to join a village. After helping the Hozuki with the creation of a large village located in a land surrounded by seas, they repaid their debt to the Hozuki before they left the place behind. Deciding that sticking in one place would just be dangerous thanks to the curse of their blood and the fact that they appear like demons in the eyes of the common man, avoiding such things would be the best thing they could do.
Present Day Now a clan of nomad's that either look like the Samebito of old or simply look human, they roam the world, explore regions they had never seen before, live in villages to become shinobi or simply wander with the large groups of nomads, looking for a place to settle down as a clan. Having no real leader anymore, the children born into the clan were kept around until they become old enough for their trial, after which they would be allowed to choose whether they would stay with the clan or choose their own route, heading into the world to explore and do what they believed was best for themselves. As such, a couple of Hoshigaki ended up in some of the larger villages, becoming Shinobi to do their clan proud, even though they would not be around to see them. In fact, they might never see them again in their life. Clan Jutsu:
- Spoiler:
These are to be made by the individual. Seeing as most of the shark based jutsu are basic suiton jutsu in the site encyclopedia, I welcome all Hoshigaki to make their own custom jutsu.

Due to this power, it is not wise to fight a member of the Hoshigaki clan on their own terms, finding dry, arid land to be the best location in which one should fight a Hoshigaki with hopes of winning. - Did you mean bonus speed in the earlier post?
- I'd want the person to be at least half merged in the water for this ability to apply. Simply because I can't imagine it being easy even if you are a water creature to gain enough of water just through the soles of your feet/shoes in order to boost your speed like that. A certain amount of water would therefore be needed.

- I have a problem with the whole dragon kings in your history. They seem like the Gods of the ocean? You speak a lot of these dragon kings and a God that allegedly created the humans in the history but we don't allow anything like that here. You can speak of legends and stories that they had come from Gods or whatever, but you can't have it as any hard facts. We don't allow anything on this site that is Godborn. It comes out as a short cut in the making of these creatures, to be able to rely on some higher power. We need cold hard facts on how they were created.

| Alrighty, here goes.
History: Kisame was based on the Mythological being known as the Samebito. Samebito were shark like people who dwelled on the bottom of the ocean and worked for the Dragon kings, the rulers of the ocean. Note that there is not nearly enough Canon to support Kisame's background in terms of his appearance and his clan, all that was stated is that he was based on the Samebito in the Infobook. Note that the main part is just fluff, a source, no one knows if it's true or not and the Hoshigaki themselves don't even know about that part of their background, which is why it is a Myth
That part of the history is just about the fact that they appear like fishpeople, the rest of it is the real background. I didn't want to go along with the whole "Hurrdurr I'm genetically engineered when people merged my cells with a fish, lolz". I am going with what the creator of Kisame had in mind. Don't worry, none of the first section of the clan really applies to the clan itself, all that matters is the part about the Warring Clan's Era and the Present. Like I said, it's just fluff for OOC to more or less explain why they look the way they do.
Curse: If you read the Curse part, it was given to them by the Dragon kings when they were exiled from their world and forced to live on land. The curse of blood is what they have in common with sharks, the part were they go into a feeding frenzy the moment blood makes an appearance. It's a thing of the first "Fluff" part. I called it a curse, but realistically speaking, it's just a genetic thing that all Hoshigaki are born with. Due to the whole background, I just thought it sounded better this way.
Kekkei Genkai: Note that they only get a total of 25% speed in/on water and to water based jutsu when they are in it. The part of it that I wrote in the "Connection to water" section does not stack on the Kekkei Genkai, it was just an explanation as to their abilities. As for the submerging part, I guess that works, i'll go add that in now. |

| Alright seeing as you changed what I asked you to change, and you did specify that anything involving Gods and the 'fluff' is a myth then I can give this the first approval. As has been pointed out, some of the Canon clans are very iffy about the description of where their abilities come from and I don't see why this can't be the same.
I can't guarantee that other staff will agree with me, but 1/2 approved. |

- Regardless of what's stated in your bloodline description, I just can't see why this percentage bonus to movement speed should stack with SCs. I mean, the SCs already give a big enough boost to a character's basic stats and characteristics, so I honestly thing these shouldn't stack with the Speed based SCs, especially when you consider that the higher ranked speed SC on gets, the stronger this inherent % speed boost related to the bloodline becomes.
- Though you say the whole god thing is fluff, please make it more obvious in the story that indeed it is nothing but a myth. Because, even though you leave that in the air, the way you continue to speak of the whole ordeal makes it seem more like fact than anything. And even though you say it's just fluff that doesn't affect the present, have you noticed how you're justifying the whole curse thing (which does affect the present) through the myth and fluff? What I mean is that you leave everything in the air too much. You mention in passing that it might be a myth, but then you go on and on about this myth, and use it as your only "explanation" for everything. Could you give a reasoning as to why they're born with this generic trait?

| History: I spoke to Money about that same thing, though the thing is simply that the Canon clans are not explained like that as well. Why do the Senju have wood release? Why do the Uchiha have the Sharingan?. Hell, even in the anime, pretty much all the clans just have their powers for no reason other than that they just have them because they do. I mean, why was Hashirama the only person ever to use wood release, and when and how did he even get it? Did he just wake up with it one day and go "Hot dangit, I can make trees!"? This is why Heida decided to be a bit more lenient towards it.
What I am trying to say is that, while the background is a myth, there would be no real way of knowing because it was simply never stated in the Anime or Manga. All we have to go by is that when Kisame was made, the Info-books that have been given out say that he was based on the Samebito, just like Fuguki Suikazan. The Samebito were mythological shark-men that... I kinda said all of this in the Myth part of the story, so I won't bore you with it a second time. So, moving on from that.
Basically, all I did was give the clan the traits of the Samebito, which is the fact that they, like shark, could enter a frenzy by smelling and seeing decent amounts of blood, though I left out the fact that they cry tears of blood that become rubies as they hit the ground, cause that just sounded waaaaay out of context. So yeah, the Samebito had it, and I am making it so that the Hoshigaki have it as a genetic trait, because there is really no way of otherwise explaining how they got it due to a lack of background on Kisame and the whole "because of myth" is not allowed for custom clans (Only for Canon clans for some ungodly reason).
Water powers: I get what you are saying, though the water release IS their main power, and if the powers of their clan don't stack with SC's, that just makes it a worthless Kekkei Genkai by default, seeing as everything else would be better. Only if people choose not to get something like Ninjutsu mastery or Speed sc's would this make for a remotely potent bloodline. I mean, if it's not capable of being passed as it is now, i'd have to think of something else, because I do not want this clan to be inferior to clans like the Senju, Kaguya, Nara, etc etc etc. |

- Technically speaking, the Senju don't use wood. Hashirama does. Presumably due to a genetic mutation of some sort, thus the reason why the only way to access the Mokuton being utilizing his own DNA, possibly relying on the gene expression process to use the encoded information within to code proteins or enzymes that, in turn, allow certain cells to produce the necessary special chakra to access and create Mokuton. But, again, that's simply my own musings and theories. And all of this beyond the point. What isn't beyond the point is the fact that the Hoshigaki, canonically, aren't really a clan, either. You're basing a whole clan upon the physical traits of a single individual from the canon, physical traits which have already been more than implied to not belong singularly to his particular family or clan, if he even has one, and then adding your own layer of creativity to it, regarding both the backstory and the supposed bloodline. As such, and seeing as you did this on a your own accord, shouldn't you have at least come up with a decent explanation that is generally accepted? It's not like you have to come up with something terribly elaborate (even if you already have, regarding the flavor you have already added to this), just something that somewhat makes sense from a non-mythological, logical point of view.
Even if you are right regarding the lack of backstory and explanations to many canon clans, they are accepted as such because their abilities are already established in the canon and so are the clans - it would be rather pointless to encumber the staff with coming up with complicated explanations as to why things work they way they do without reason to do so, as long their abilities aren't inherently overpowered, when most members would practically demand said clans to be available in the first place. That is a flaw of the source material, not a flaw of the forum itself. On the other hand, this clan of yours while having a very small basis in canon material, it is entirely custom and made by you. It is your invention, based on extrapolations from the canon material, and not something that is already existent and established in the canon. Custom clans have no public demand, nor any reason to be 'hurried' and blindly accepted. They are being created at the wish of someone who comes up with them, based on their creativity and wish. Thus, it is up to them to make them reasonable and logic, so that everything that is put on the playing field is generally run by the same rules and with decent reasoning behind them. While substantiating something makes it harder to come up with it fully, it is also rewarding in its own ways in my opinion - it makes it generally harder to contest, it makes it logical which, in the long run, allows you to further develop them and it gives you much sturdier basis for roleplaying with characters from the clan.
As such, you shouldn't really use the canon clan's lack of explanation on how things work when this isn't a canon clan, in the first place. Everyone else who comes up with custom clans generally provide explanations regarding the various traits of clans, whether more concrete or more vague. Why would this clan, just because it has the name of a canon character, be any different?
And that's not even the point. The point is the whole deity thing. The fact is that it seems that I'm not the only one uncomfortable with the whole deity thing, seeing as MsMoney has already shared her worries about this subject before. I know you did a lot of research into the Kisame's inspiration and the mythology behind it all and that is commendable, but mythology is a very tricky subject. It's not like we're telling you to remove all those mentions and waste all of your research, either. We're simply asking you to make them truly sound like myth - which they are supposed to be -, without overly relying on them to explain the abilities and traits of the clan, which is what you're doing.
- And I see your point as well, but it is a generally accepted fact that bloodlines, techniques or abilities should not and cannot stack or otherwise outpower the SCs. This is so the SC don't become moot, on one hand, or to avoid having characters with crazy amounts of speed, strength, endurance, and so on. And while I get what you're saying about it making it useless, we can't let it through with that argument alone, can we?
"Well, we don't want it to be useless, so let us approve it regardless the fact that we've denied similar things in the past". That shouldn't be the argument, at all. As the person who made the bloodline, it should befall upon you the burden of finding a way to make it useful, without having to rely on something that is generally frowned upon while expecting us to make concessions regarding it. With that in mind, I would also agree with you on the fact that perhaps coming up with something else might be a good idea, if you think having a non-stackable 25% increased in speed inside water not worth it. I mean, it would still provide a speed increase for those ninja that do not want to possess a speed SC. But that is entirely up to you.

| Made a lot of changes, please check it out again when you have time. Some of the changes I made are fairly obvious and very important.
- Kekkei Genkai remade - Curse of Blood rewritten - Fish summons updated (as requested by Dexter) - Removed speed gained during underwater combat
PS: Once you are done with all of your checking, I will be asked Heida to also look at it again to see if she has any other things she wants handled. After all, the entire Kekkei Genkai changed, so things would be different from how they were when she 50% approved them. |

| Okay then, time to get a bit more in depth with the (more or less useless) details:
- Does this berserker state involve some sort of loss of logical reasoning, or is it merely something akin to a battle trance?
- Besides appearance-wise, is there any significant difference between the human-looking and the fishy Hoshigaki? Namely in terms of the underwater breathing process - any sort of difficulty for the human-looking ones, or something of the likes?
- As far as the chakra drain would go, I'd like you to keep in mind that (and I don't know if you're aware of this or not), generally speaking, I don't think you can have chakra draining techniques that drain more chakra than their inherent cost. Of course, this holds especially true if you keep in mind that all of these clan techniques will already have a main ability (for example, a water jet that damages the target), and so having the inherent chakra drain as a secondary ability of the bloodline would mean that, necessarily, the values that would be drained would be low, relatively to the cost of the technique. Now, the costs you have put, you pretty much will be using Ninjutsu for free which, to me, is not acceptable in the least. Even Chakra Kyuuin, which has the single purpose of draining chakra, has a chakra drained value inferior to the chakra spent. Your techniques will always have a secondary effect, which necessarily has to bring this number further down.
Furthermore, you may want to keep in mind that this bloodline may end up getting a technique denied here or there, even with low drainage values, when said technique becomes too strong when coupled with the draining. And you know what kind of techniques I have in mind, don't you?
- Though I understand the reasoning behind the communication between the fishy people and the... fishy fishy, it does end up being much like Animal Speaking. Considering Social SCs barely matter in the grand scheme of things and are merely traits to add flavor to things (and considering you can take one up for free when you sign up your character), you might want to consider simply removing that part, as anyone who is interested in that can simply take Animal Speaking, and so there's no need to have something like that infringe upon it.
- I'm not big on the concept of being able to power up your Ninjutsu techniques utilizing the chakra absorbed through colliding with Ninjutsu from the opponent. I mean, if you mentioned JUST fire, as it's weak against water, I could see the reasoning. But all of them? That not only makes you tremendously stronger in Ninjutsu than anyone else, but you also weakens the opponent and effectively turns any Ninjutsu into something more or less useless. Especially if you consider the range and area of effect Suiton techniques generally have. Again, if I were you, I'd restrict it just to fire. Oh and, do keep in mind that the very concept of absorbing chakra from an opponent's technique and making your technique stronger makes no sense. If two techniques clash, even if technique A were to absorb chakra from technique B, the leftover chakra from technique B would still collide against A and effectively neutralize a large chunk of A's chakra. So, the very concept of strengthening your ninjutsu through your opponent's makes little sense, to me, as no matter what, your technique would always come out severely weakened after the clash.

- A loss of logical reasoning. I wanted those who wanted this to apply to them to be able to enter a psychotic state and the ability to ignore pain. People can't have one and not the other, which is why it sounded like a fair thing in my opinion.
- No, there are none. All of this is to give people a chance at looking the way they want, to keep away the fact that everyone will look exactly like Kisame and make it less hard for people to find a Face Claim.
- I will decrease the amounts inflicted through Ninjutsu, though I will try to find a bit of a middle-ground with the contact based attacks, seeing as these will be mainly Taijutsu and Weaponry based techniques. These are techniques that generally cost less, so the chakra drain on those would be entirely too insignificant. And yes, I know which jutsu you are talking about, so I will keep that in mind as well.
- Consider it removed.
- Using this chakra is exactly what would make the bloodline worth while, seeing as it only working on contact and having to be weaker than it is now would make it utterly useless. No one will let themselves be hit, ever, so limiting it to just that seemed like an epic-stupid thing for me to do, which is why I didn't do it. I did however come up with something that, while restricting it, would balance it out to the point where it is still powerful enough to make for a decent Kekkei Genkai.
As you know, it currently has it so Doton is the only elemental nature it cannot affect due to it beating it on the elemental chart. So, how does it sound if I limit the ability to fire, other water techniques and non-elemental ninjutsu, this leaving Earth, Lightning and Wind entirely untouched by this ability.
As for the A vs B thing, I intend for the Hoshigaki clan Ninjutsu to be channeled techniques. Think of Daikoudan, a massive shark that fires towards a target, absorbs it's chakra and grows stronger from the clash. Sure, it would be weakened by clashing, though the chakra it drains to make itself bigger would make what is left still a force to be reckoned with.
