| I have been looking through what I can do with an NPCs. I have some ideas I want to use with my character in her development but I need these two NPC's to really play off. A male exp genin who is pretty much Akiko's household bodyguard and I wanted to give her attendant some more depth.
I know NPCs can be either enemies or mission help but can I use them reoccuringly in my roleplays, outside of missions and/or at home? |

| There is actually an NPC template HERE and a place to register them HERE.
- The Misc. Systems NPC Section wrote:
NPC or "Non-Player Character" are characters that you create solely for mission purposes for your own enjoyment. They can range from a mission partner to aid you in challenges your character may not be equip for or even your actual enemy that can be roleplayed by a moderator. Unlike pets they do not stay with your character out of the mission, however they can be reused if you wish to create your own "Mission Partner" if you want, however you are only permitted one. Note that NPC's are optional, you are more than welcome to roleplay your own enemy or friend if you would like in your own thread.
This implies they can't be used outside of a mission, but I also know people use NPCs outside of missions all the time. So I'm also curious as to what exactly the limitations surrounding non-mission NPCs are(if any.) |

| Given the nature of the NPCs in question, it would make sense for you to be able to use them outside of missions.
Technically speaking, NPCs are used outside of missions all the time - shopkeepers, family members, and any other non-player character that you may have your own character communicate with. The only difference is that for most of those, you don't bother to give them a lot of depth, particularly in the case of random villagers that hold very little important in your topic.
TL;DR it's perfectly fine to create NPCs to use outside of missions, it's just not very common to put a lot of thought into non-mission NPCs. |
