Mission Title: Road Locked
Mission Type: Custom
Mission Location: Lightning Country - Outer Village Borders
Shinobi Requirement: 3+ Genin
Mission Rank: C
Mission Objective: Daughter of the wealthy Kyokkuo family resident in the village complained enough about not getting any important missions(despite only having done a single mission to date) that her parents used their financial influence to make some hefty donations. Now the village has agreed to let her take on a seemingly dangerous mission on the condition that she had help. Thus a rag tag team of Genin were gathered and tasked with setting up a checkpoint at the bridge leading into the village to investigate a lead that illegal drugs were being smuggled. Their mission was to check any trade carts as they reach the mouth of the bridge. They would remain in sight of Chuunin and Jounin should anything go wrong. Best case scenario they bust the drug smugglers and earn some glory for themselves so everyone goes home happy....right?

When Mugen received news of his role in today's mission he was found rummaging through some garbage mumbling about food. The boy had improved his scavenging skills and was no longer starving, but finding a good meal was still tough. The jounin that found him had a chase on his hands as Mugen initially thought he was to be scolded for dumpster diving. Imagine the young Kousen's surprise when he learned that he was summoned to be briefed on a mission. Eager to restore his image within the village, Mugen agreed to the summons and found himself escorted to a room filled with paper work. There was a pitiable young man behind a desk furiously stamping away grumbling about how he couldn't stand being left in charge of mission assignments. Apparently that was not his usual job.

His time in the office was unnervingly brief. The young man would look up from his papers just long enough to cross check Mugen's appearance with a picture of him that was on his file nearby. With his identity confirmed a series of questions would be asked,

"You are Mugen Kousen, correct?"

A nod from Mugen's head affirmed this as he stuttered, "Y-Yes!"

"It says here you've been forbidden from using clan techniques by your father. Is this true?" The surprise on Mugen's face showed that he did not expect that to be public information. In fact, he was almost sure that it wasn't. Clearly the village's information network was not to be underestimated. Seeing the distressed change in the boy's expression the man sighed and leaned back in his chair before noting, "Don't worry, that is treated as highly classified intel. Only a handful of people other than myself have access to these files. Your secret is safe." Once Mugen visibly relaxed, the man continued, "We need a Genin volunteer to handle a special contract with two other junior shinobi. Are you interested?"

"Of course! I-"

An acceptance was all the man needed as he held up his hand and then gestured for the door. "A Jounin will hand you the details when you leave." Evidently Mugen was supposed to just leave after that, so depart he did. Fast forward a few days and here we are now.

"Lets see, there were supposed to be two other Genin on the mission. Look's like I'm the first one here..." Mugen said to himself as he reached the far end of the bridge that led into the village. The boy would look around and observe the area which was supposed the be their check point and tried to spot anything of use. There was a large boulder nearby and a dusty trail, but other than that not much else was in sight besides pebbles and stones. In the direction opposite the village was the sheer cliff face of the mountain barrier protecting Kumogakure. The cave of the outer gate ended just a few dozen meters down the road.

This wasn't too bad, Mugen could see why it was chosen. That was of course if there weren't already supposed to be guards watching the outer gate entrance. No one with ill intent for the village should even get through the caves right? Perhaps that is why this mission was to simply check cargo for smuggled drugs. That complacency was dangerous and Mugen would eventually discover this first hand. But for now he was just a boy, leaning against the large boulder that was close by and enjoying the warmth of the sun on his skin. All he could do now was to wait for the two Genin that were supposed to be helping out. His foot tapped impatiently but neither of the two were late. He just had nothing else better to do and arrived early so with no one to blame but himself...Mugen waited.

Surai entered her Lady’s sleeping quarters, to find Akiko sprawled out on a pile of pillows, her mouth wide open and drool dribbling down her cheek. After several attempts to wake Akiko up, Surai resigned and sat on the ground. The room did not feel as comfortable to Akiko as her eyes fluttered open to see her attendant sitting crossed legged in the center of the room and pouting like a child. Akiko begun her usual morning routine of hassling Surai, but Akiko was quickly reminded of her errands today.

“Oh crap! Mission-mission-mission!” Akiko rushed to get dressed, not wanting to be late to the mission. Akiko couldn’t help but smile though as she got ready to leave. Her complaining seemed to get someone’s attention for a few days ago Surai brought a summons to get a mission. She did not go to the summons being forgetful as she is, but luckily for her, Surai was on top of it.

With a wave of her hand and a leap out of her home, Akiko was on her way. She walked towards the bridge where she knew she would meet others, thinking of what she remembered about the mission. All she could remember off hand was that this mission involved smugglers of some sort. Not remembering specifics didn't matter much to her though, her excitement making it impossible for her. She arrived at the bridge to see a white haired ninja standing around surveying the area.

“Hoi!” Akiko called as she approached. She tried to hide it but her face brightened up as she realized that he must have been on this mission too. She quickened her pace to close the distance between them faster. She stopped a few feet away and bared her teeth in another wide smile.

“Mugen!” She begun, “You an anti-smuggler too?”
She looked about her surroundings, a boring sight, before returning her eyes to Mugen.

“Or is it you just can’t get enough of me?” She said jokingly.

Road Locked(Akiko/Suoh/Mugen) Vide
PostSubject: Re: Road Locked(Akiko/Suoh/Mugen) Road Locked(Akiko/Suoh/Mugen) EmptySat 22 Feb 2014, 1:26 am

Missions dealing with groups of people was not the greatest thing in the world to start off as the ‘first official mission’ of Suoh. Even though he had dealt with groups of people before; he hated to deal with people that didn’t know the first thing to the rules of the village. The boy slowly rose from his bed, stroking the back of his neck while his head turned to look over the window. Not the best way to wake up in his opinion. At least the sun wasn’t blaring in his eyes to cause him to start off in a bad mood. That was no way to work towards having a good day!  The boy slowly rolled his legs around so the flat portion of his feet rested softly against the ground. Leaning his head into his hands, Suoh slowly stood up while rolling his shoulders. There was no reason to get up when he was stiff. He needed to stretch and make sure that he was ready to the get the day started. He usually takes a shower, but since he was going on a mission, there was no reason to just in case he got dirty himself.

Slowly walking towards his closet, his mother knocked on the door before speaking softly. “Suoh! You better be up and going! You don’t want to keep your team waiting, now do you?” He loved his mother, he did but, she could be annoying at times for him. Suoh wasn’t the best ‘morning’ person to ever exist in the face of mankind. There was nothing special about getting up right when the sun was at the horizon, and blaring in your eyes just screamed a pissed off Suoh. His head violently twitched, dropping by his neck while he gripped the edge of the closet. Slowly the hue in his eyes started to turn a dark crimson. “Aish..” He released with a sigh while he pulled out his outfit.

Slipping on his white headband first, making sure to cover the trace of missing hair on his right temple, he pulled a long sleeve white shirt and buttoned it up to his neck, sliding on a black vest thereafter. He pulled up his pants, tucking in his white shirt and made sure everything looked clean.  Wrapping his fingers around his ninjato, he placed it on his lower back and grabbed his halberd, letting it lay on his shoulder; he grabbed his gloves that hanged off the doorknob of his bedroom door, and walked out into the living room where his mother was making breakfast. “Suoh! You better eat!” The words went past his ears while he tied his boots up slowly, blazing a fiery glare behind his shoulder at her while he walked out the door.

Stepping out into the village, Suoh started his trek towards the main gates from his little hut. There was no telling how late he was, or if he was honestly late. It didn’t matter t him at the moment with the sun blaring in his eyes. Bringing his right hand up to shield his eyes, Suoh reached in his pocket with his opposite hand, reading over the mission summary. “More people.” He sighed with a grunt while he approached the main gates.

Looking over the perimeter, his eyes caught glimpse of the girl from the other day beside a boy with white hair. He didn’t expect to be working with a noble in the village, but if he had to get it done to get some food on the table, why not? He clenched his jaw slightly while he walked behind Akiko. “You again?” He shook his head while his crimson orbs slowly look over the boy. “And another white haired individual. What is it with you guys and white hair in this village?” He sighed, looking over the bridge and folding his arms In front of his chest. “The name is Suoh Kyokkuo. Who’s lead on this mission?”

Road Locked(Akiko/Suoh/Mugen) Vide
PostSubject: Re: Road Locked(Akiko/Suoh/Mugen) Road Locked(Akiko/Suoh/Mugen) EmptySat 22 Feb 2014, 4:40 am

Spoiler:

Mugen didn't have to be patient for long before a familiar voice called out pulling his gaze from the pebble his eyes had fixated upon. "Akiko!? How about that, twice in a row." He said, referring to how he was paired with her on his last mission as well. Girl's smile was returned genuinely as Mugen was also glad to see that someone he got along well with was going to be here. He had been admittedly a bit concerned that his team mates would be unreliable...

Then he remembered how she had gathered "fire wood" and how she cringed in the cave, oh and then there was the fact that she insisted on being called a ridiculous nickname! What was it again? Crunchy! His smile slowly faded as he realized that perhaps this eccentric goofball wasn't the best person to watch his back after all. Then memories of how she evaded his Kousa and Ryuuga with skill and even stole his own weapon for him. Doubt was obliterated as if Akiko's aptitude in combat were a mental air strike. Mugen felt assured to have her on the team.

Mugen nodded to Akiko's question but didn't specify whether he was affirming to being engaged in the counter smuggling mission or to being in need of her presence. He simply smiled and closed his eyes thinking it better not to say. It was obvious of course that he was present for the mission so he shouldn't need to. As the two greeted one another the land of lightning began to earn its moniker as thick and heavy storm clouds were floating in from the north. The entire village would slowly be doused in shade as the bulky overcast moved in. The clouds weren't going to rain any time soon, but the occasional bolt of lightning would soon start to thunder forth as if the heavens were roaring. The first of these bolts would strike across the sky over head just as Mugen looked up and opened his eyes. "Look!" He pointed upwards as the lightning appeared in the shape of a fierce dragon piercing the skies. But by the time Akiko would have been able to look up the flash would have faded. She would only be able to see it if she too was looking up.

This distraction was fleeting, but it did give the final team member enough time to arrive. He was almost late, but "almost" still counts as on-time. When he spoke up Mugen would notice his presence and turn to lay eyes on the newcomer. Their similarly crimson eyes would meet, Mugen's golden haloed iris' being the only thing setting the two pair of gazing orbs apart. He seemed to know Akiko but he was certainly a stranger to Mugen. The comment he proceeded to make about the common white hair color found in Kumogakure(at least more commonly than other villages) made Mugen worry he wasn't from the village. But when he introduced himself as a Kyokkuo it made sense. "So this guy is related to Ms. "Crunchy" over here, eh?' Mugen thought silently to himself hoping he was a bit less eccentric than his cousin.

When the topic of leadership came up Mugen visibly got a bit excited to speak up. One might think it was to proclaim himself the leader but what the Kousen said was, "I don't want to be the leader!" The declaration was made with a smile that showed he was being honest. Then he held up his hand with one finger pointing up at the thunder clouds above. The smile turned to a grin as thunder boomed and lightning flashed across the sky again as if on que before Mugen continued, "But I do have a plan! So long as you guys agree to listen to it, any of you can be the leader that executes it. As the leader you would of course hold the right to cancel my plan should anything ever go wrong. I'll follow your orders, whichever of you two ends up leading." It was a simple enough condition that narrowed the leader choices down to Akiko or Suoh. How would they handle the issue among themselves?

Road Locked(Akiko/Suoh/Mugen) Vide
PostSubject: Re: Road Locked(Akiko/Suoh/Mugen) Road Locked(Akiko/Suoh/Mugen) EmptyTue 25 Feb 2014, 6:23 pm

Akiko turned towards the sky where Mugen had just pointed to though, unfortunately for Akiko, all that she could see was some grey sky. She turned back to Mugen, seeing if it was some sort of joke but he did not look like he was in the joking mood. Though curious, Akiko didn't pursue the subject thinking that there would be another time to ask and also if it were important, Akiko was sure Mugen would tell her.
Not much time passed as the two stood there but it seemed like forever to her. Though her face remained calm, her arms crossing in front of her showed her impatience and boredom. The lethargic moment of waiting ended as a sound pricked Akiko's ears. Akiko’s head turn to meet Suoh, a Kyokkuo whom she met not too long ago. Her hand waved joyously at Suoh. She gave him an apologetic smile as she recalled their awkward meeting. Awkward thoughts left her mind as she noticed Suoh’s eyes which were colored a dark crimson.

Odd. She thought to herself. Suoh claimed to be Kyokkuo, which his features attested to. All except his red eyes. Maybe he has is Puraton activated, her mind pondered with worry. If he stayed like that too much then his body's organs would start to fail, though she assumed he knew this. Also his irides were not constricting or shrinking. With no clear answers, she opened her mouth to ask about his eyes but the conversation had proceeded to the specifics of this mission. Mugen declared that he did not want the role of leader, which brought a noticeable frown to Akiko’s lips. She wanted Mugen to lead, her gut telling her that was the best idea but if he did not want to lead then someone else would have to step up. She thought about her mother and Surai as she pondered the leadership position. Those closest to her always urged her to straighten up and take her duties seriously, though she loved doing the opposite. She sighed, her eyes closing with resignation as she began to speak.
“I-I. . . ugh I will lead.”  She said casually, not wanting to look at their reactions.  She opened her eyes and turned to Suoh, “Unless of course, YOU want to lead. Then by all means, lead.”
She kept her eyes locked onto Suoh’s, a mixture of her hoping he would say yes and his odd eyes prevented her from looking anywhere else.
