| Now that Darius is back, and Adam seems more active, can we please bring back the OTM descriptions? It's, what, 50 words for each one? Less maybe. But at least it added some excitement or interest to the award.
Instead, what we have now is a widget that I sometimes accidentally hover my mouse over (only when I'm really tired, and my hand to eye coordination is really wacky).
Who knows why any of these people got the OTM. Has Kite made the most roleplay posts? Is Locket the new Raikage? Did Trey's character kill someone? Was there a massive, heart-breaking plot twist in 'Letters Home'? Did Heida slap Zack?
50 words. It's all it takes.
Have John write them. He doesn't do anything anyway |

| I agreeee......but staff is kinda falling behind on the things they already have to do. The only people doing something is evaluations and Heida, who is doing evals and creations. Maybe there is a need for more active/new staff? I know being staff is like volunteering out of your personal time to check things and keep the site running, but before you offer to do the job you should be sure that you have enough free time to do all that work.
Also, as to who does what, (should what Chris said get approved), I think that Character and Topic of the month should be chosen by the evals mod, because they actually read and evaluate the topics, which obviously have the characters in them.
Newbie and Ultimate Shinobi of the month by Staff.
And staffer of the month by the people of the site.
There could be a poll for each one of them, four of which (Ultimate Shinobi, Character, Topic, Newbie OTM) would happen in the staff lounge, and Staffer of the month in the "Discussion'" area of the forum.
That is all. |

I already made a topic in Forum Assistance a while ago asking creation mods how they feel about the current situation. They are all quite satisfied with how things are at the moment. Some admitted they need to pick up their activity.

That is all. All of the awards are collectively agreed on by all members of staff already, so the evaluation moderators do get a say in topic of the month nominations and the admins tend to read the ones that get nominated (or skim through them, depends which admin we're talking about here) before giving their opinion. Whilst I do like your idea of giving the site members the opportunity to vote for the staffer of the month, a lot of work goes into systems etc behind the scenes that might not be appreciated/noticed by the members but is still time consuming, so sometimes other staff members might be better judges of who's been putting the effort in. |

| I'm not sure a SOTM poll would be a good idea. First of all, we would probably have to start off a number of days before the end of the month, meaning that people may vote prematurely and miss out on something a staff member does. Plus I'm sure interest in the poll would go down quickly.
Furthermore, how does one decide a good Staff member? I feel like it would come down to biased, easily influenced opinions:
You didn't approve my jutsu?! Well you're not getting SOTM.
etc. |

| Heida is a dedicated member of staff, whose work in creations is second to none. However, in a time where evaluation wasn't doing too well, she took the initiative and decided to help out, much to everyone's gratitude, until things settled and she could go back to kicking ass and denying custom jutsu. Thanks for your help Heida~

| I personally like the idea of having small descriptions as well. It gives members an idea of what the staff is looking for so that they can bust their bums to meet the qualifications for future awards. Overall this could push people more, mainly if they are competitive, which could then generate more activity. This all depends on how much the person cares though, and what sort of awards beyond your name in a fancy widget, at disperse to each member. Do any of them get extra exp or anything? That would be pretty cool and more of a reason to push for the awards as well. |

I agree. It would not take up that much time and if staffers did not want to we could make it so that everyone does a different one each month. So say, Adam doesn't do anything one month but then does USOTM the next. Hell, sometimes I am not even sure why certain people got an OTM. I am sure it would be helpful for a number of people on the site. |

Have John write them. He doesn't do anything anyway I do like the idea of having descriptions, but that would mean changing the widget around, or possibly turning it into something completely different (cause the old one is a bit.. old), which can take up a lot of our time (like the staff widget did ;___; ). I think I speak for John and myself when I say that's not our top priority right now. We've had a small discussion about possibly changing it in the future, but it didn't go much farther then that. I'm definitely not against the idea, but as our schedules are right now, it might not happen too soon if majority rules for it, seeing as the Hall of Fame is top on the list at the moment. If anything, we'll have to speak with the admins about it to see where they stand on the idea of bringing descriptions back and possibly changing the widget, and if it's a go, John and I can put it on our to-do list.

Winners of the OTMs (excluding SOTM) receive additional AF into their funds when they win |

| Actually Nomi, we've had a version of the widget we have now, where text would show up when you hovered over the image. So it's perfectly do-able.
I.e you hover over the OTM, then over the winner.
Ask John about it. |

| Oh, I see. I wasn't around at that time, but I do know which code you're talking about. I was just thinking about how we could implement it into what we have now, but I'll have to ask John if he saved it anywhere so we could re-enter it into the widget. Thanks for letting me know about that. If anything, if he doesn't have it, we'll just find the code again and put it back in if Adam and Darius agree with adding the descriptions back. |

| I'm sure one of the reasons why we discontinued this was because hardly anyone was actually reading the descriptions. Regardless, I don't mind whether they make a return or not. They were simple to write and I'm sure beneficial for members to read so they have a rough idea of what we're looking for. If you all want them to return, I'm happy to bring them back for April's OTM. |
