| Akimaru and his cousin Hakamaru were stood at the gates of Konohagakure. The Hokage had been informed of their mission and had thankfully accepted the terms. Akimaru didn't think he would, but he didn't want to be branded a missing-ninja, to be perfectly honest. There was a limit to how far he would go for his cousin, whose bond has strengthened with his own. Akimaru was stood perfectly still, looking ahead at the road towards Kusagakure. It wouldn't be too long, but he still wasn't so sure he wanted to be here. Still, it was better than him or Hakamaru going alone.
Not even looking back for Hakamaru because he knew he would follow, Akimaru set off at a run. His feet pounding against the ground, dirt flying up as he did, he began to think about something rather trivial. "I wonder why we run so much. I read in a book once that humans aren't actually designed for running." Akimaru kept this confused thought and mood for quite a while as they were running. His frown was gentle, but prominent.
Akimaru and Hakamaru didn't really talk on the journey. Both being Kiyo, they didn't talk much, for one reason or another. It was probably some sort of personality defect. This thought got Akimaru onto the thought of DNA. He started thinking about the future, and if the lack of communication in the Kiyo clan would lead to them having lazier vocal chords or anything. This feat was less prominent in women, but still there, despite some of them being amazing singers.
Flashback;
- Spoiler:
Akimaru and his father were sat at the kitchen table, his mother stood in the kitchen beside them. Rather than being dressed in an apron when she was in the kitchen, like she did faithfully, Akimaru's mother was wearing a dress of satin, coloured like sparkling sapphire. She was looking incredibly nervous, swaying on the spot. Akimaru shot his father a quizzical look, but his father just shook his head. Akimaru's gaze returned to his mother. She opened her mouth and began to sing. It was incredible. Like a siren song, or an angel. Her voice was so soft, yet she could handle such harsh notes. Akimaru actually shivered in her presence. When she had finished, she still looked nervous. Raising one eyebrow at Akimaru, he nodded his head and his mother burst into a smiling beam.
Akimaru burst out of his flashback, and he had come to a fork in the road. He took the left which he knew was to Kusagakure. The terrain changed slightly, it was less dusty and there were more weeds in the road. They carried on with the same comfortable speed. Akimaru's feet were getting a little heavy, but he didn't complain. The wind whipped him in the face and it was refreshing yet harsh. But it would all be worth it for Hakamaru. |
