Une dernière danse
Pour oublier ma peine immense

A last dance
To forget my great
pain

It was night when he sent for him. The sky was of a dark blue colour, almost black, illuminated only by white dots spread out sporadically. It was a moonless night, cold and unforgiving. People could see their breaths escaping their nostrils as they walked hastily back to their warm and comfortable homes. It was no time to make conversations with anyone; the night was cold and full of terrors. The people could feel something coming, but they couldn’t quite put their fingers on it; that was what frightened them the most. The feeling of not knowing what was to come. The feeling of being left in the dark. Oh, yes, a dark and difficult night it was indeed.

“It’s time” a male voice firmly whispered as he stood up from his white, wooden chair and put his jacket on; his Jounin jacket. The man was fully clad in Shinobi attire; it seemed he was going on a mission. His heart was pumping, threatening to tear his chest apart. All the blood had left his face, he was as pale as the shy moon. His fingers were slightly trembling; his golden eyes looked at them and a frown appeared on his face, clouding his eyes. He couldn’t be afraid, not now, not after how far he had come; he had sacrificed too much. He had to succeed, even if it would cost him his life. He looked over at the girl tying her shoes; she was so young. And yet, it was clearly visible that she knew what she was doing; that she really wanted this. The decisiveness could be seen in her face, in her gestures; she was ready. This scene brought a smile on the man’s face. He had the ultimate weapon by his side; he wouldn’t fail, he couldn’t. Not with this girl, not with Ophelia.

“Have you told him?” her voice snapped him violently out of his proud thoughts, tearing him back into reality. His heart jumped a beat as he calmed himself and looked into her now green eyes; she had given herself to the Sanbi. Good. After their pact, her eyes had turned an eerie green, not of this world; it was almost hideous, unreal; unnatural. “Yes I…sent for him” he slowly said, his voice a monotone melody uttered as practiced. He walked over to her and took her face into his hands, looking deep into her eyes. “We better go”.

~At the Mizukage’s Office~

His steps were steady and loud. It was obvious that he was scared out of his mind; it was a miracle he hadn’t fainted. But he couldn’t lose his consciousness now, not now that his family was in danger. This man, this hideous man held them captive. He had to deliver a message to the Mizukage, and then everything would be fine again, everything would be okay. Yes, just a message. Yes. He was certain; his family would be alright. They had to be. Otherwise, this would all be for nothing.

He didn’t bother to knock. This was no time for knocking, not this time. Normally he would knock and wait for the Kage to let him in, but this night was different. It was a dangerous night, and there was no place for courtesy in danger. The door flew open and banged against the wall, but the Oinin clad in the traditional mask had already kneeled in front of his leader’s desk. He breathed heavily; his panting could be heard through his mask. For a moment he did not speak, he just kneeled there and gathered himself in utter silence. It didn’t even cross his mind that perhaps the Mizukage would start yelling at him or attack him otherwise for his rude entrance.

“Mizukage-sama…I have a message from Mizushima, Akihiko” he said in a trembling voice, revealing his deep rooted fear. Fear cause of which was not the Kage, but Akihiko. He had his family. Anger and frustration spread across his being; how could he know who he was? Where did he find his family? All these questions weren’t important now. What held any importance was this right now. This message. He looked at the Kage, his panic invisible to him, blocked by his mask, but very hearable in his voice.

“ ‘Meet me where it all began’ ” he spoke, and suddenly, he jumped up and what seemed towards the Mizukage himself. He missed him for a few millimeters as he crashed against the window glass and fell into his much intended death. His body splashed against the concrete, his limbs spread out in an abnormal manner, away from his body. A lake of blood formed underneath him as his last breath left his lungs along with his soul.

Dernière Danse [CleverYamanaka // Private] 2c263965-e263-49b1-916f-c2e061c5deae

    Kirigakure no Sato.
    Mizukage's Office.
Honestly, there was no point in keeping the guards around anyway. Inoshi's eyes lifted as he heard the first fowl traces of trouble coming his way. Foot steps, falling in a rapid pattern. Obviously distressed. Even so, they fell in a rhythm, one two, one two. This man had been trained. Yes, man. It was the most logical explanation to hearing the shinobi's steps from so far off. Weight, weight which was hard to accomplish in a female body. By the time the man had reached his office, Inoshi had nearly guessed who it was. The door flung open and a man poured through. A part of the ANBŪ units dispersed through the outer districts, grunt type ANBŪ member sent on recon and intelligence missions more often than not. Inoshi's gaze hardly faltered, glaring through the staunch silence that lay across the room.

"Mizukage-sama… I have a message from Mizushima, Akihiko"

'"Meet me where it all began'"

Inoshi's head raised a bit, eyes honing in on their target. Like a snake scoping the trajectory of attack, he suddenly became serious. Though, hardly bothered. More enthused, as if the idea entertained him. The disturbed shinobi before Inoshi moved, lurching forward, and charging forward. The Mizukage remained seated, vaguely watching the man as if staring over the rims of glasses. He aimed not for the Yamanaka man, his thoughts were on death. Glass shattered as the man hurled himself through the back window, launching himself into a complicated series of obstacles below. His body fell through the thick field of rocks, and protruding beams until it lay mangled on the patches of earth below. From outside of the room, the guarding shinobi flooded into the room, each ready for the worse.

    "Sir!"
"Oh please, you saw the man. Were you actually worried?"
    "W-What-- Sir, you're..."
    "Never been better..."

Swiftly brushing past the elite troops, Inoshi made his way down the hall way. Each member of the guard slowly trickled into the room, by now fully accustomed to odd occurrences. Kunai in hand, the director made his way to the window. Something was wrong. Whatever message that man had brought to the Mizukage was meant for his ears only, that much was clear. This was a personal summons. The place where it had all gone down, the area where the first chase had been commenced. Of course, nothing of it was more genuine than any game he played for entertainment. The man he sought out now was hardly concerning by himself, which meant that whatever confidence he had gained now was not through his own means. He was not that kind of man, he would justify throwing children into combat before himself in order to accomplish his own goals. Of course, that was a perfectly valid tactic, though perhaps more effective against an enemy who held a shred of humanity within their grasps. Inoshi was no such man.

Mizu no Kuni | Land of Water
Not far from Shihon Island's shores.
    Kimu Island.
His pace was quick as he made it through the market district of Kimu Island. A substantial economy built itself over the water, following the same architecture as the rest of Kirigakure's buildings. Where a peaceful residential area of occupation lay, a previously famed Kirigakure military base once existed. Now, Kimu Island was a-blast with hanging fabrics, colors, the smell of fine cooking, the ringing of bells from incoming sea vessels. Birds flirted with each other in the air, leaving the ground level birds to fight over whatever shred or crumb they could find on the beach's sand. As he was seen, so to was he respected. Most remained speechless, and did whatever they could to clear the path for their leader. Some stood quietly by, aghast in staring at the man before them.

Silks and fine fabrics covered Inoshi's body, replacing the somewhat average Mizukage cloaks worn by his predecessors. The same worn by most Kages of the various villages. Of course, instead of blue, his color pallet was shifted to an even colder tone. Deep purples enriched his appearance. Blonde hair, like gold, fell down around his shoulders, and began to trail around behind his back. Blue eyes, like light through deep ocean water, did not meet the stares of the humans around him. To what an end did they interest him? No, his goals were set much higher than tourism. He had come fully prepared, though without accompaniment. This was an event he wanted to attend personally, for his own amusement. The show was about to begin, and he would be viewing from the front row.

He would be left to watch as the secrets begin to bubble out.
As the lies which governed a life were broken.
And as loyalties hurtled themselves counterclockwise.

And so it was. This had been the place where Akihiko had made his escape. The man responsible for the murder of Kirigakure's second Hokage, Yamine. The symbol of peace throughout Kirigakure's line of bloodthirsty leaders. For a brief time, Inoshi had even served on the council with the man, back so long ago. He had been suave, and entirely persuasive with his will. Smart, full of tact and wit, though still an ordinary human. His flaws were as painfully open ended as any other's. And his weapon of choice was one loaded by the hand it shot at. Standing in the center of the water surfaced town, within the tallest tower. His vision was unlimited, despite the cold night. Lights flickered through the darkness so as to illuminate what the vanishing moon tried to steal away. It was an open balcony, with a dome ceiling made of thick stone. It had been in this exact location where Akihiko had seen Inoshi last.

    One thing was clear.
The night would smell of blood.

PostSubject: Re: Dernière Danse [CleverYamanaka // Private] Dernière Danse [CleverYamanaka // Private] EmptySun 04 May 2014, 10:33 pm

Her serpent like eyes searched the starry sky; she was looking for something to hold onto before the inevitable ensued; before it would be too late. She thought she still had time to turn around and walk away; but she didn’t. Akihiko’s stern look and presence hung over her like a tombstone waiting to crush her; she didn’t have a good feeling about what they were about to attempt to do, but now it was too late to go back. If only she could turn back time then all this wouldn’t-

She shook her head rather violently, her red hair dancing in frenzy around her body. This was her choice; this was the only way out of this mess, the only way to stay alive, to protect herself and the only person she deeply loved on this rock called Earth. She had no reason to live for anything or anyone else other than him, and tonight she’d prove it. She’d do it no matter what it might cost her; even if it was her very own life.

They stood in dead silence in the middle of the balcony, a light breeze making the cracks of the walls sing. It felt like the air was trying to console them in the only way it could, taking the heaviness off their hearts; failing at it. This was a heaviness that couldn’t be lifted by anyone but themselves. They had to do it on their own, or they would never be freed of it. And yet the wind tried, not knowing it was failing. It played with the Uzumaki’s hair, brushing against her skin, sending shivers down her spine as her hairs rose to fight against the chilliness. She didn’t mind; she didn’t even notice. She was too consumed with concentrating on containing the beast inside her while waiting for the one that was about to arrive. And what a horrible opponent he was; perhaps even more terrifying than the Sanbi. More terrifying than anything the woman had ever faced in her short years.

Her teeth bit together as she sensed Akihiko tensing up; he had finally arrived. A tall man appeared on the balcony across them; a man of unprecedented beauty enhanced by the charming light of the stars and moon. Ophelia had never seen a man like this before; he was terrifyingly beautiful and she was just there, standing and staring at him like a little child seeing candy. While her heart belonged solely to Akihiko, there was no denying that this man’s face was not of this world. However, despite his breathtaking appearance, Ophelia could feel nothing but spite towards his person; and a bit of confusion too. How could someone so beautiful be so evil?

Akihiko made a step forward, the same stern look on his face like the one he had kept all the night long. His heart was racing with excitement, adrenalin pumping through his body like the very veins that supplied him with blood. His eyes were fixed on the Mizukage, revealing spite and nostalgia at the same time. For a moment his expression softened as the thought of Yamine, his friend, crossed his mind; he couldn’t help but think of her every day and even more so now that he actually faced someone who had known her; and someone he had known as well. It was true that Inoshi and Akihiko had been on the council together, and Akihiko, while not really hating the guy, had never really liked him either. He was always warning Yamine of Inoshi; turns out he had won in the end. Smart and cunning, he always got his way in the council, and the funny thing was that nobody noticed his manipulative ways; whenever Akihiko would point them out, people just disregarded them as expressions of jealousy. And then this unfortunate incident had left him running for his life. But not tonight; tonight was the night of actions; no more running.

“So again we meet, old friend he uttered slowly, not trying to hide the disdain in his voice. “Tonight,” he said “I shall commit the crime I was exiled for”

Mizu no Kuni | Land of Water
Not far from Shihon Island's shores.
Kimu Island.

He gave himself to death so easily, Akihiko. A man skilled enough to evade Kirigakure's search for years, well witted enough to completely re align a young warrior. Kirigakure's Jinchuuriki, even. He was a valid excuse for entertainment, but nothing more. After all, these before him were those bound by their own mortality. Ticking clocks with a predetermined date of expiration. Inanimate objects which could be broken and cast aside so quickly as he wished it. As his moronic enemy lurched from the shadows, speaking with a curt tongue, Inoshi could not help but lift his lips in a smile. A snarling smile, entirely like that of a predator staring at a meal; merely entertained by whatever false confidence the victim tried to boast of. He made himself sound so big, so important, this Akihiko. Yet he clung to a small female for any real hope. A female weakened to the point of uselessness by her own faltering ideals, broken morals, and shattered loyalty. She was a lost wanderer of life's long pathways, set to a confusing destiny befitting of the Jinchuuriki.

"You speak as if you have confidence backing you, Akihiko."
His lips now fully creased into snake's long smile.
"You are but an unimportant piece of my playing field."
His hands raised, carrying the beautiful fabrics with them.
"You move as I wish, you hide as I wish, and you bring me her, as I wish."

And their eyes met. Only, Inoshi's were not of this world. Or the next. They hid secrets more forbidden than those of human nature. A piercing blue, like ice made dark with crimson shadow, they struck at the opposing man. Inoshi was no longer the man Akihiko had known. He was night and day from his earlier life. Dark chakra filled the area like an energetic wave of malice. He was not of this world. The pure power of complicated blackness penetrated Akihiko's mind, granting Inoshi access with ease. Using thought itself to string together sentences, the Yamanaka's voice was erupt from within Akihiko's own head. Like an echo, the likes of which being impossible to describe with words alone, the deep voice of Inoshi spoke. But we were never friends.

A pure tone of hatred licked at Akihiko's insides, violating his every thought in the most intrusive way. I suppose you think it possible to defeat me with the help of such a weak creature? You are but a side project, Akihiko. Had I willed it, you would have fallen. Each breath you take is with my permission, I suggest you not make me prove it. The words spread, like a contagion, reaching the mental space of the girl as well. Even Ophelia would receive their echo, snapping through her mind, lubricated with a desirable scent of fierceness. He meant not to keep her censored, and so she would not be.

Like poison seeping into his bones, Akihiko stopped his movement. Paralyzed by a deeply rooted fear. No, this was not the same Inoshi he had known all those years back. This Inoshi was one changed by something ancient, something primitive, yet advanced well beyond anything current. Inoshi continued to walk forward, advancing on his prey. Everything was bland in his vision. So open ended, and obvious. Even the smallest expressions meant so much. He did not require the ability to read a mind in order to see thoughts on the faces of those around him. Fear, anger, betrayal. Nervousness, and utter intimidation. Each plagued the man before him, freezing him in place temporarily. Hands which acted as if they were not his own clasped Akihiko's head, as he staggered back a few steps. Among the average, he was able to shake off the vile presence of evil with with some efficiency, actually. Most who were subjected to his most corrupt energies found themselves sick.

"I would hope that this is not your attempt in scaring me."
His noble way with words making him sound elegant.

Squirming in an unspoken rage, Akihiko whirled around with a venomous snarl of his own. Glancing back at Ophelia as if to ready her, he rallied his confidence back as much as he could. "I can't believe Kirigakure has accepted someone like you as their leader," Akihiko said with a tense, coarse tone, his hand slowly moving to grab a kunai from his pouch. Inoshi's ghost like stare remained, analytical eyes picking the man apart, and tearing away his defenses. Growing more and more impatient with the conversation, Akihiko sought to finish what he had been awaiting for years. "Ophelia, we'll do this as planne--" But he would not finish his sentence before he was interrupted. There, only inches ahead of him, Inoshi's body lingered. With a single sucking breath, Akihiko braced himself for an attack suspended in the silence of shock.

And then it came.

Like being hit by a bolder, the Mizukage's fist slammed into Akihiko's gut. A ripple of pure momentum. Chakra, like a near explosive push, erupted from Inoshi's own limb in order to throw the man backwards. A long tendril of chakra in the shape of his own arm giving length to the range and power of his attack. Unable to guard in adequate time, the full force of the attack bashed into the prince's torso, causing him to hunch over under the severe force. A single ribbon of blood flew from Akihiko's mouth as he flew backwards, crashing into one of the five pillars which supported the tower's high roof. The stone cracked at his back upon landing, and the whip like arm of murky, purple chakra struck at his neck, fingers created in an instant to strangle the endangered man. The gap in their power was obvious, even despite Akihiko's impressive battle experience. Of course, he would not keel over so easily, but this was no longer as possible as he had originally thought. He was not expecting this. Still connected to Akihiko with the chakra created arm, Inoshi walked forward slowly, following the thin line of his jutsu.

"You've welcomed death prematurely, this time."
Glancing at the girl, he continued his slow pace towards Akihiko.
A thin smile carved along his lips, he bent his head at her.
"And I suppose you think her strong enough to weaponize against me?"

PostSubject: Re: Dernière Danse [CleverYamanaka // Private] Dernière Danse [CleverYamanaka // Private] EmptyThu 19 Jun 2014, 10:20 pm

His presence was heavy and imposing but blinded with rage and hatred, Ophelia missed the obvious. She stood there, her eerily green eyes observing the Mizukage. A feeling of anxiety and anticipation made themselves comfortable within her chest. And then, a sudden intrusion disturbed her mind and even managed to wake up the beast sleeping inside her. The voice spoke directed at Akihiko, and Ophelia realized that it was the Mizukage speaking. His voice was of another world, it sounded unlike anything the girl had ever heard before. It was intimidating and comforting, a bizarre mixture to behold, and yet unfolding so clearly before her. For a moment she forgot where or who she was, forgot why she was there and what she had to do. She listened to what he was saying, terrified and in awe before Isobu snapped her out of it.

Wake up…

Her eyes flew open when she realized that Akihiko’s life was actually in danger. She had little concern for her own life, but the boy’s was of outmost importance to her. Her love for him reached deep and was edged into her very soul. He had been there for her, a person she had barely known and yet had told her the truth and confirmed her fears about what was really going on in the village. What these horrible people really wanted from her. In the midst of chaos, fear and death, she had found a person whom she could confide in, whom she could really trust and that person was Akihiko. She would lay her life down for him. She would do anything for him.

She shivered when the Mizukage referred to her and a cold feeling of fear  and angst spread in her chest, making her feel uncomfortable and angry at the same time. Uncomfortable to the point she wanted to throw up, and angry because of that. Angry because she was afraid and she wasn’t supposed to be afraid; she was supposed to be fearless and great and absolutely amazing and confident now that she finally was standing in front of the man who had plotted her death so delicately, who had attempted numerous times to murder her in secrecy, to make her disappear so questions would not be asked, so that her death would be written off as an accident. Maybe they would have even held a memorial for her, just so he would make them think that she was actually appreciated in the village, that all this had been a tragic loss in this cold and unfair world of Shinobi.

The skin around her knuckles turned snow white. His words only served the confirmation of his betrayal. A burning so fierce and pure cleansed her of her fear. Her teeth grinded against each other. She had to keep calm if she wanted to win this. Akihiko turned around and looked Ophelia straight in the eyes as if to give her the sign for the attack. Immediately she formed a string of hand seals. Just as Akihiko was about to execute his first attack, his sentence was cut in half by a giant hand made of chakra grabbing his throat. In an instant, Akihiko was ripped from Ophelia’s side and thrown against a stone pillar, destroying it completely.

“Akihiko!”

Ophelia almost choked on the sudden gust of air that she was struggling to find as the Mizukage approached Akihiko slowly and confident in his movements. It occurred to her that maybe she should abandon the mission for he was too powerful to be beaten. She shook off the idea; now it was too late. She would have her revenge, even if it’d kill her.

Not hesitating even for a moment, one thing was clear; she had to break the Kage’s contact with Akihiko before he would reach him. She performed some hand seals which caused a wave of electricity to be directed at the Kage, destroying for a moment the grip of his jutsu on Akihiko’s throat, and even possibly stunning one of the Kage’s limbs. Akihiko seized the opportunity to disappear from the scene, reappearing behind the Kage at a distance from the air, hurling three shuriken with explosives directed at the general area of the Kage’s torso and head. At the same time, a clone in the form of Ophelia attacked the Kage from the front, while the real one was close to Akihiko, behind the Kage’s back.

Fate took its course.
Only one would make it out alive.
