| Early in the next morning, Hiruzen awoke to the sound of voices that seemed to be coming from every direction. Slowly getting up, he put his cloak back on, placed his backpack where it belonged and attached his belt with his weaponry kits to his pants. For a moment, he focused to listen to the people around him, aiming to figure out how many people there were and what their intentions were. As expected, the people that gathered in groups this far into the wilderness of the lightning country were not up to anything good. Speaking about how they would be splitting their spoils of a burglary job in the lower regions of the of the Hidden Cloud, Hiruzen let a sigh escape his lips as he stood up straight and released the jutsu that maintained the earthen shelter. Once the shelter that seemed like nothing more than a large boulder from the outside fell away, the burglars saw that a Shinobi suddenly stood in their midst. Tightening his headband, he looked at the men around him, counting a total of seven men that were all unfamiliar to him. Whether they had some sort of shinobi background remained to be seen as he activated his Sharingan. Though he had first looked up to the situation, his expression soon turned into an excited grin.
“It’s good to be back…”.
From the shocked expressions on their faces and the fact that a couple of the burglars instantly reached for their crowbars and stuff they had stolen that could act as a weapon. The fact that Hiruzen was wearing a Kumogakure headband was enough for a lot of these men to jump the gun and instantly attack him, though that was exactly what Hiruzen had been hoping for. A big portion of Hiruzen truly wanted to waste a couple of these guys for stealing from the people that already had a hard time paying their taxes. Cracking his knuckles, he looked around to see which of the burglars wanted to dance first. When the first contender came at him with a crowbar, it truly felt like he was fighting against an ape with a stick. Swiping his weapon at him in wide arcs, it was as if he did not even intend to hit him at all, for even one of the weakest shinobi would be able to evade the attacks. With his Sharingan, all the attacks that came at him became easy to predict, so easy that it was as if he were looking into the future. When one attack was evaded, another came right back at him as the man increased the pace at which he attacked him. The faster his attacks became, the more annoying it became to straight up evade the attacks. After intimidating the men for almost a full minute of evading attacks, a momentary locking of eyes was all Hiruzen needed in order to lock every muscle in the body of his attacker. Once the man suddenly stopped moving, only a couple of the men understood that he had been locked in a Genjutsu, the others believing he was having some kind of episode. The most notable thing he saw was that one particular person was neither shocked nor impressed and just sat down on top of a boulder as if he wanted to watch how he handled these people.
Taking the crowbar away from the paralyzed man, he used it to hit him in the head and ended the Genjutsu he had been under. Once his body hit the ground, there was no doubt about it that the strain of the Genjutsu and the hit in the head had been more than enough to knock him unconscious. Taunting the next opponent to come at him, he originally believed that there would just be one person coming at him again in an attempt to prove himself stronger than the last that tried. This was proven to be entirely wrong as three of the man came at him while wielding all kinds of rather unconventional weapons such as chandeliers, crowbars and even large sticks they found on the floor. While none of them had skill that really exceeded that of the last, the fact that he had to take on so many at the same time was a lot, even for the Uchiha. To say that the situation was slowly increasing it’s danger levels was an understatement when he thought about the three other men that were still just watching . Using his Sharingan to keep up with as many of the moves he could follow, he used the crowbar he had taken to deflect as much as he possibly could. Executing a low sweeping kick, he swept one of the man off of his feet, though the young Uchiha knew that this was merely a momentary victory. Using this moment, he stepped back as fast as he could while rushing through a string of hand seals to summon a Shadow clones on both sides of his body. Even though his clones were unarmed, Hiruzen knew enough about basic Taijutsu to deal with men such as these. Leaving one clone to fight alongside him, the other clone went to confront the other three men with the intention of not letting them join in on the fight itself.
Creating a large earthen rampart directly beneath himself, a massive wall separated Hiruzen, his clone and the three that had attacked them while the strange man remained on the other side with two of his lackeys. Taking the initiative, both Hiruzen and his shadow clone engaged the men on their side of the wall. Given the fact that two trained Uchiha were always better than one, the extra pair of arms helped turn the tide. With a quick offensive, Hiruzen slammed his crowbar down on the hand of the nearest thug so his clone could take the weapon from him and arm itself. Shortly after he had hit the man on the hand, he swung again to knock several teeth straight out of his jaw. By working together, it took the two Uchiha very little time to dispatch the men. When a sudden explosion followed by a rush of information and memories suddenly popped into his head, Hiruzen knew that his clone had been defeated on the other side of the rampart. Luckily for him, he had managed to dispatch the opposition on this side of the wall before the rest had a chance of popping into the fight to overpower the young Uchiha. A few seconds after Hiruzen’s clone had been destroyed, some of the memories that came back to him showed that the man was capable of manipulating a peculiar explosive substance. It was this same thing that blew up his clone after putting up a momentary fight against it. While his helpers had been taken out, taking the leader out had been too much for the clone, though it had done it’s job well. As soon as a shadow fell over them, Hiruzen looked up to the see the man standing on top of the rampart without as much as a scratch on him.
“It’s been a while since I last got the chance to fight an Uchiha. Most of you don’t really get out of the village much, so I don’t often get the chance to kill one of you. I killed a Kousen last night, though he was not much of a challenge… he wasn’t even awake when we broke in and took their stuff right out of his home. As far as I know, I think the man left a pair of sons behind, a sad story really. Now, if you said your prayers, I’d say it’s about time to take care of you along with those worthless buffoons.”.
As soon as the man had stopped talking, white spheres were tossed at him that seemed no bigger than marbles. Using his Sharingan to guess the trajectory, the memory of the clone suddenly popped up in his mind, telling him to run away as fast as he could. Dashing back as his own memories instructed him, the marbles exploded the moment they hit the ground. Moving as fast as he could in order to dodge as much as he possibly could, the flames that roared towards him in the resulting explosion picked him off of the ground and sent him flying through the treeline and into a small stream a few meters away from where he stood. Crashing into the shallow waters, the rocks at the bottom of the stream bruised his back while the water put out the fires that still burned on his clothes. The explosion had murdered the men he had taken down earlier and dispatched his clone in the process, sending another useless rush of memories back to him along with a good bit of chakra. Being sore all over his body, Hiruzen knew that it would only be a matter of time before the man came after him to see where he had gone. Either he would come after him, or he would just bombard the place to flush him out or straight up murder him where he stood. Remembering the thoughts that had been transmitted to him upon the death of his clone, he saw how earthen walls would not hold their own against the explosions while actual fire jutsu as a counter measure would not prematurely ignite them either. Trying to pick himself up from the floor, a stinging pain shot straight through his body as another explosion went off several meters away from him, implying that the search had begun.
It was in that moment that he could feel a shift in his head, a change in his chakra and a strange stinging sensation in his eyes that caused them to water. While he first believed that it was a response to the painful landing he had made, his reflection in the water showed him that his eyes were changing. After a momentary pain in his eyes, he saw how a third tomoe formed from one of the other tomoe that pushed the others away to create a new design. Whether it was in response to the pain he suffered, the anger he felt towards the people that both stole from his struggling village and cared nothing about the lives of their comrades, the chance that he might actually die here today or all of the above was something he did not know. All he knew was that he had to do something about this man or he would not live to actually use his enhanced ocular powers much longer. When he was blasted into the treeline and the stream, he had temporarily lost sight of the explosives user, meaning he had also lost track of Hiruzen if he did not have any sensory abilities of his own. Making use of this obvious advantage, Hiruzen formed one last clone before using his earth release to go underground. Rushing towards toward the man, several explosive tags were scattered across the battlefield, turning the entire treeline into a minefield. If he would enter the treeline, Hiruzen would be ready to blow up the entire place, though that was but a last resort move. Dashing out of the treeline, Hiruzen aimed to distract the man while the real attack would come from below. Once he got out in the open, the first thing he noticed was how it seemed like time had slowed down around him. Being able to tell every move the man made, Hiruzen moved in a manner that would allow him to evade the spots where bombs would fall and keep the man busy.
Forced to get used to his enhanced ocular prowess while on the move, he mixed his Doujutsu with his evasiveness and the maximum speed he could put out with his bruised body. Buying enough time to move through the earth and up to the top of the rampart, Hiruzen reached up through the earth with both hands and grabbed his feet. Pulling him down into the earth, the clone that had grabbed him disappeared while Hiruzen released his jutsu to send the rampart back into the earth. This time however, it went down just a little bit further to create a square shaped hole on the ground. Looking down into the pit, he watched as the man struggled to release himself from his earthen bonds. Knowing that there was no way for him to escape, Hiruzen released his Sharingan and called out to the man to let him know what he thought about him. For murdering his comrades, for stealing from the poor region of the village, murdering a member of the Kousen and leaving a family without a father and for trying to kill Hiruzen, he would not be allowed to spend the rest of his days in jail. No one would blame Hiruzen for murdering the man, mostly because no one would ever find the body or know that he had been responsible for the onslaught.
“You see, this is why you don’t fight an Uchiha. You don’t get to just kill us, we kill you. There was a time where I would have spared the lives of you and your men by making sure you’d all and up in prison, but after all of the things you put me through and the things you did to your people, the last thing I would do is allow you to stay alive or give you a clean death. When you meet your henchmen in hell, I am sure they will be waiting for you with open arms to make your afterlife a lot more painful. Now drown… ”.
Activating several of the explosive tags he had manage to hide underground, a series of explosions could be heard all the way from their location up to the stream that had more or less broken his fall earlier. Creating a trench for the water to move through, the small basin made where the rampart went back into the earth slowly started filling itself up. Watching as the water from the stream started filling the basin, the head slowly disappeared under water as bubbles rose up every now and then. After a minute, the bubbles stopped coming and Hiruzen knew that there was no way for him to have survived. Looking around, several broken and battered corpses still littered the area as a result of the serial explosions that had originated from the leader of the criminals. Sighing deeply, he made sure he still had all of his belongings before walking away from the watery grave he had created. Now that the leading culprit had been punished, he started looking around for anything he might take back with him to the village. No matter how hard he tried to find something, most of everything had been blown into oblivion. When Hiruzen set out to return home from the fire country, he had not thought it possible for things to have gotten worse in his absence. After all,he had only been gone for a month. Figuring that now would not be the best time to return home because of what had happened here, he would hasten his plans and head out to the lightning temple first. From that point on, his ambitions would soon lead him to go back to the Iron Country and up to Sanrõ to find the hidden temple and find the treasure within.
