MISSION BRIEFING:

After a few hours of sleep, Kyousuu awoke feeling rather refreshed. It wasn't that he never experienced such a morning, but he crawled groggily out of bed with the mindset of somebody with a goal in mind. He was ready to take the next step, whatever that might be, in proving his worth as a shinobi. Whether it involved combat or simply assisting in the planning stages, the jinchuuriki was sure he'd be able to accomplish something.

His gear had been set out the previous night after he returned sparing him the trouble having to gather it all, and after a rather quick shower, he grabbed a banana to eat on his way to the administration building. It was there he'd be able to further elaborate on his findings of the previous night, though the note contained all the most important parts. With everything in its proper place, he headed out of the front door of his apartment earlier than usual and sped off, the soft light of morning giving the village a relaxed atmosphere.

As the brunet walked into the building, the spring in his step caused some heads to turn. They were beginning to get used to his normal, more casual stride in which his hips moved far too much for their liking, but he was never in this great of a mood. Most times, he looked around with an expression of bitterness or disgust etched into his features. This was new and made them rather uncomfortable, but none dared to speak up. After all, it was rather clear that he had a reason to be there, as he was moving too quickly to be in the building for sight-seeing.

Opening the door to the room he'd been instructed to report to for anything pertaining to his previous mission, he flicked his head to force some of his long hair out of his face. Inside there were a few shinobi, but they didn't seem to be too busy. Upon noticing him, the three other men turned and looked at him with raised eyebrows.

"I'm here to talk about what's in that note I left, ki," the chuunin stated rather happily, doing his best not to seem too happy given what he learned during his small excursion. As if he had flipped a switch, the three others suddenly had very serious expressions on their faces and sat up straight, turning to face the jinchuuriki. It made him a little uncomfortable, but he shook off the feeling and closed the door behind him before speaking again.

"I told you most of it in the note, but from what I can tell it doesn't look like they have plans to harm Konoha at this point, at least not in any sense worth worrying about. There was a mention of getting a look around the place, but the two I ran into last night could probably be dealt with rather easily. I think the biggest problem would be that 'Yuuto' person that they talked about, ki."

One of the men looked at his two companions, who gave him a nod, before he addressed Kyou.

"So, you're telling me that all this is just about a couple of... what, maybe B-Ranks at best, doing nothing but hanging around waiting for their buddy to get back?"

"Well... the problem is, there's no telling when 'Yuuto' will get here, if he even shows at all, ki. So if we want to make a move, we should probably do it soon, just in case he's already on his way, I guess."

"You're sure that's all?"

"Well, there was something about an 'Izumi' that used to be a Konoha nin, but abandoned the village. But whoever that is, they weren't there, and I guess if we want to find out more about that, we're better off getting the information out of one of those two rogues. The smaller one would probably be easier to break, I think, ki." The jounin rubbed his chin in thought for a moment.

"Can you give me a rough location of where you found them last night? I want to know where to send back-up if you take too long to bring them in."

"If you go north-east a couple hundred meters, you'll probably find the spot. ki. It's not too far out, but not so close that I'd have felt a need to do something last night... not that I was supposed to, anyway."

With an understanding nod, the blond jounin then gave Kyou the order to find the two rogue shinobi, find a way to subdue them - but not kill them - and then bring them in for interrogation. If he could somehow find out if there was something else they planned to accomplish while in Fire Country, then that would make things even better. It was more or less playing out just as Kyou had thought, and somewhat hoped for up to that point. All that was left was to head back to that "camp site" and take care of the kids he'd found.

It didn't take long for Kyousuu to reach his destination. The subtle signs of a camp fire were still there - ashes had been sloppily mixed into the dirt, and there was no attempt to even out the mound that resulted from it. Even so, it seemed that the two had moved slightly from that spot. At least they knew better than to hang around in one spot for too long. They must have been missing nin for long enough to know that much - either that, or they had somebody teach them about these types of things. Kyou figured the latter was more likely, but he'd have to give them the benefit of the doubt if he was going to successfully take them in. While they didn't seem to be incredibly strong, based on his previous assessment, it was still two against one. He could utilize clones, but even so, there was a chance they'd have some trick up their sleeves.

He didn't think they'd have gone very far, but the longer he stood there thinking about it, the higher the chance they'd disappear off the radar and result in him having lost them, and consequently failed one of the most important missions he'd been assigned. That wouldn't go over well at all, so he'd do his best to avoid that outcome. Taking a deep breath, he focused his senses on the surrounding area. Luckily, there wasn't really anybody else around to distract him from his task, so it didn't take him too long to find the chakra signatures he'd been searching for. They were only 50 meters farther ahead, and he hadn't picked up any other chakra signatures around them. That put him a little more at ease, as things would have been more difficult if more rogue ninja had appeared. He wasn't quite that confident in his abilities that he'd readily take on 3 shinobi at once, or more, especially if he didn't know their abilities.

Although 50 meters was a fair enough distance, the chuunin could cover that in a rather short time due to his speed. As he approached, he made sure not to rush ahead in order to hopefully catch the two off guard. It would give him the advantage from the very beginning, and though he was no expert when it came to stealth, he could, at the very least, hide in the foliage above the two kids that seemed to be waiting for something at the forest floor. They looked rather impatient... that was either a good thing, or a bad thing. Either way, if he wanted to bring them in, he'd have to act quickly. Forming hand seals, the jinchuuriki created a solid clone comprised of flame and sent it towards the two of them.

As the clone walked, with determination, towards Ichirou and Airi, the two of them stepped back. They were standing rather close to each other, but Airi was behind her companion, who lifted his fists, ready to strike if the new arrival turned hostile. At that time, the original Kyousuu focused his chakra and hopped down from his perch quietly before sinking into the ground. At a rather swift pace, he covered the 10 meter distance between himself and the young girl while underground. His plan was to pull her under in order to reduce the number of opponents.

As Kyousuu's hands rose out of the ground to wrap around her ankles, Ichirou had looked back to mutter something to her, but upon noticing the threat, had no choice but to react by shoving her out of the way. The chuunin barely grazed her ankles as a result, and at the same time, blown his cover. It was unfortunate, but at least he gave it a good try. As the male rogue moved away from Kyousuu's position, he put himself between his enemy and his companion, making himself a shield of sorts. A noble effort, but even if the clone couldn't use jutsu, it would help to even out the numbers - at least temporarily. The clone dashed towards Ichirou, and Kyousuu came out of the ground, focusing his sights on the girl.

In such close quarters, she had very little time to react, and brandishing his brass knuckles, the jinchuuriki planted a punch in the girl's abdomen. Though it didn't send her flying, it knocked the wind out of her and caused her to stagger backwards, unable to react out of shock. Meanwhile, the clone charged at Ichirou and launched a kick aimed at his chest to knock him off-balance, but despite its initial speed, the boy managed to bring his arms up in order to minimize the impact. It seemed that, while Airi was likely the type that needed to stay at the rear of a fight, Ichirou was prepared to be in the center of the battlefield. That would make this fight... interesting.

Now that everything was out in the open, he knew the fight would start to pick up. If he couldn't take them out separately like this, he'd had to get serious. Killing them would only be an option if he couldn't capture them, but he hoped that he wouldn't have to resort to that as getting information out them would be much more useful and would likely make him seem less destructive in the eyes of the higher ups. As much as he hated having to deal with it, he knew that making them happy would make his life easier for the time being, so it was all he could do. The more they trusted him, the more difficult missions they would assign him, and the more experience he'd get, which was really what he was after. The luxury of travel was only afforded to those that the village wasn't suspicious of, and since he was the village's jinchuuriki, they typically kept a close eye on him unless they knew he was headed out for something specific.

Kyousuu's clone took a step back to plan its next attack, but Ichirou leaped backwards and away from the clone, forming hand seals as quickly as he could. The jinchuuriki's clone once again sprinted forwards, this time preparing to use an elbow thrust aimed at its opponent's chin. The white-haired nukenin managed to slip out of the way of the attack and finish his technique - two clones appeared to his left, both of which then sprinted off in the original Kyousuu's direction. Almost immediately after, Ichirou took some shuriken out of the pouch at his rear and tossed them at his opponent before forming more hand seals. He hoped that the projectiles would force the enemy to hold off long enough for him to land his next jutsu.

The original Kyousuu ran in for another strike at Airi, but was intercepted by Ichirou's clones, which circled around him to cut him off and protect their ally as well as confuse him, or at least distract him long enough for the girl to get back on her feet and into the fight. The chuunin guessed that there were elemental clones rather than illusions, since they seemed to have physical substance, so he would avoid striking them in close quarters. This forced him to jump back, and after forming hand seals, the jinchuuriki focused chakra in his mouth. First, he launched a bullet at the two clones that began running towards him, then set his sights on the ground at Airi's feet.

Just as he let the second bullet loose, however, a figure sped by in a blur, moving Airi out of harms way. The moment this new arrival stood still, Kyousuu realized just how much trouble he was in - a man with long, white hair and a blade strapped to his left wrist stood before him, a serious look on his face. In a panic, the brunet attempted to hit the man with his last two bullets, but he easily avoided them with his limber and swift movements before bringing his blade up to Kyou's neck.

He couldn't win this fight anymore.

"Stand down," the man calmly stated, addressing the other two as well as Kyousuu. Not wanting to take the risk, all clones were dispersed and they stood in silence for a moment. Once he was sure there would be no hostile actions, the white-haired man lowered his blade and his expression softened. "You... You're Tanaka Kyousuu-kun, are you not?"

"You... how do you know who I am?"

Ichirou and Airi looked at each other and shrugged, unsure of what was happening.

"You really do look just as he thought you would," the man said with a light-hearted chuckle. Just then, a woman with purple hair emerged from the treeline and rushed over to Airi, making sure she and Ichirou were alright. Kyousuu took a step back, but Yuuto raised his right hand in a peaceful manner. "We're not going to hurt you, I promise. Well, as long as you don't try anything."

"I'd be pretty stupid to try and pick a fight now, especially having seen just a little of what you're capable of, ki," said, a hint of resignation in his voice. "But... who are you, exactly, and what do you mean "just as he thought"? Just as who thought? What exactly is going on here?"

The man sighed softly before removing the blade from his wrist, tying it to his side with a thin rope.

"My name is Yuuto, and I'm with a group called Hanketsu. But that's all I'm going to tell you in that regard. As for who told me about you... it was your brother, Daitarou."

"Dai...?" Kyousuu barely managed to utter, his eyes wide with disbelief. Was it really possible? Why would this man, a man who knew his brother, be showing up around Konoha? Was it coincidence? Kyousuu fell to his knees and stared at his hands. Just a moment ago he was trying to capture two rogue ninja, but all of a sudden there's a guy saying he knows Daitarou? It wasn't adding up.

"To be honest, I wasn't expecting to run into you... I hadn't planned on coming to find you at this point, either but I guess sometimes things just... fall into place, huh?"

Wait... you're saying...he's Dairatou-nii's brother? This guy?"

Daitarou-nii?" Who were these people if they knew him well enough to call him "Daitarou-nii"? 'It's not fair...'

At that point, Kyousuu had completely forgotten about the mission. Thoughts of his brother were swarming, and he needed to know what was going on here, and how these people knew Daitarou. But he couldn't just force it out of them.

"Why did you tell me your name?"

"I know this isn't going to be easy, but I need you to trust me, Kyousuu-kun. I know quite a bit about you from your brother, because he's talked about you on several occasions. At first, I had fully intended to fight you, and either kill or incapacitate you when I noticed foreign chakra by Ichirou and Airi. But when I realized who you were... I thought I'd try and have a talk with you first. It's the least I can do for Daitarou."

Kyou was having a difficult time processing all of this. Wasn't Yuuto the name of the man that Airi and Ichirou had talked about the previous night? This was the man they said was strong enough to deal with the village on his own? He wouldn't have believed it, but something about the man gave Kyou the feeling that it was entirely possible. He had a very commanding presence, even with his weapon tucked away and his posture relaxed.

If what he said was true, Kyousuu could have very well lost his life if it hadn't been for that moment in which Yuuto recognized him, most likely by his features. He and Daitarou did look alike with their brown hair and green eyes, though his brother's were a bit more blue.

"And if I don't want to listen? What if I run, ki?"

"If you did that, then I'd have to take you by force. I can't just let you go and risk the safety of the kids or Mayu, nor anybody else in Hanketsu. We're family, and if I let them come to harm because of a mistake I made, I'd never forgive myself."

He seemed genuine enough...

"How did you know it was me? When did you notice? You came pretty close to killing me, ki."

Yuuto nodded gently.

"To be honest, it was your jutsu that allowed me to make the connection. I thought your hair and eyes seemed familiar, but I couldn't quite place it until I saw what you could do. A host of the four-tailed beast would certainly be able to conjure up something like that."

So he did know about that...

"Daitarou told me about what happened... and I realize you must have had a lot of trouble dealing with things, but you seem to have gotten over them after all th-"

"GOTTEN OVER??" He was willing to listen for a while, but those words just made him lose it. "The ONLY thing I've gotten over is the fact that my parents are complete asswipes, okay?! I've barely been able to come to terms with the fact that my sister is gone, and now you tell me my brother's alive and has been talking about me like he wasn't the one that left? HE LEFT ME HERE.... HE LEFT ME WITH THOSE SAD EXCUSES FOR PARENTS AND DIDN'T EVEN SAY GOODBYE! HE MEANS SO MUCH TO ME BUT HE... IT HURT ME WHEN HE LEFT!"

The chuunin felt his eyes begin to water, but he couldn't let this go. Kyousuu took a deep breath and attempted to calm down.

"I can't believe him.... I just can't..."

Yuuto looked apologetic, as though some of this was his own doing. Even with the brunet shouting at him, he remained calm.

"I can't speak for him. But I can tell you that he wouldn't be able to go back to the village now. He's been labeled as a missing-nin, and if he were to be caught, they would kill him, guaranteed. The only way you'd be able to ask him anything is if you seek him out yourself. I know you don't even know me, but... I could help you with that. I'm heading back in that direction myself, so if you decide to trust me, I can take you to him. I can help you see your brother again, Kyousuu."

"...Why should I trust you? Why would you do something like that?"

"Make no mistake, I wouldn't be doing it for you. I certainly feel bad about the life you've had to live, but I feel no obligation towards you. I'd be doing it for Daitarou. He's done a lot for me, and I could at least do something like this for him." Yuuto turned around and made some sort of gesture towards Ichirou, Airi, and Mayu. "I'll be in Tea Country for the next two weeks. Whether you come or not is none of my business, and it won't hurt me if you don't. But so help me, if I find out you've caused problems for my family, I WILL find you, and I WILL dispose of you."

The man was strange... he was calm, and almost seemed like he might have warmed up to Kyousuu, but that was it. The chuunin could tell that the man would not nave hesitated to kill him if he'd done anything reckless, despite knowing who he was. Perhaps he only gave him a chance as a favor to his brother, and nothing more. Once again, his life was in the hands of another.

Kyousuu wanted to stop him, but he didn't know what to say. He could only watch with conflicted emotions as the four left. At that point, he couldn't truly consider the mission a success - he hadn't found out what it was that Yuuto was doing in the country. But he wasn't about to risk his life to find out. He'd have to tell the story in a way that would cover their tracks, and even if he was reprimanded for failing the mission, at least he'd be safe from Yuuto.

Kyousuu slowly got to his feet and dusted himself off before heading back into the village. He'd tell them that the two were easy to handle, but they had reinforcements, which made it impossible for him to capture them. It wasn't a complete lie, but he would leave out the details of their identity and give them false physical descriptions of the group, just to be on the safe side.

[MISSION END]
