I played the Beta for Evolve, and while it was rather difficult playing as the monster, it wasn't a horrible game. It isn't my favourite, it goes without saying, but it's fun with a group of people~
I have two friends who played Evolve when it was in the Alpha and Beta stage (its what they told me, idk) and honestly I think the game looks fricken sweet. My one friend plays an awesome monster. Nukes people right and left
I somehow knew you'd include AJ's review of Evolve... I knew he'd hate that game, it doesn't have Superman in it.
I think he made very valid points D: The game was heavily advertised as something amazing for quite a while now, and I was interested in buying it to play with friends, but for full retail price with micro-transactions (one of which is £/$ 15 to get a monster O.O ) it just doesn't seem that appealing (especially having considered what was shown in AJ's video).
I had already been planning on waiting a good while before getting this game, but this kind of solidifies that for me. It really does seem like an aggressive money grab to milk an incomplete game for all its worth. Some of those cosmetic DLCs were $5 if I saw correctly, that's insane. Then again, I never consider cosmetic stuff to be worth more than a dollar.
Thanks for sharing. I'm sure the game is fun, but I'll just hold out a few more days and enjoy Dragon Ball Xenoverse when it comes out later this week.

Oh, absolutely. At the end of the day, developers and publishers are companies looking to make as much profit as possible. Especially in today's industry where DLC and patching out bugs post release instead of spending a few more months in development is the norm. In most cases, it's hard to blame them considering the abyss of resource consumption that is the game development process. So many hours and dollars get sunk into making even a modest indie title that when you look at the numbers for a AAA title it can get downright frightening at times.(Destiny holds the current record at 500 million dollars over 4-5 years of development. Imagine spending a million dollars a year on anything.)
But sometimes it gets taken a bit too far. I know AJ's opinions are often exaggerated, but I have to agree with him that it's kind of insulting to be asked full price of a AAA title only to get such little content in return. It's one thing for a company to try and milk a game for all it's worth. It's another for them to do what was done in the case of Evolve with all those bundles and day one dlc. It's a about one step up from that one zombie game that tried to rip off Day Z, released an unfinished buggy prototype as a full game, and then tried to make bank off micro transactions before people realized it was junk. Granted, Evolve doesn't look remotely as underhanded as that. But it still looks like a vertical slice of what otherwise could have been an amazing title had it remained in development for another year so supplement the core gameplay with more meat.
I know I'm kind of just complaining from the gamer side of things. But it still ruffles my feathers v.v
