Muddy Revenge Missions

Note: These missions aren't just for me. They are part of a player organized mini-event so people in Kumo have something to do that seems meaningful to the inner plot of the village. First, an overview of the basic idea behind the event.

Overview

The Muddy Revolt. A battle that took place generations ago in Kumogakure's history during the reign of the second Raikage. It was a short but bloody incident in which small clans and tribes living close to Kumogakure attempted to launch an assault on the village. The Kousen clan swiftly dealt with these would-be-usurpers claiming the heads of many leaders among the tribes. The violent subjugation of these people scattered the survivors to the winds leaving them without a home. As generations passed by, the remnants of the "Mudfolk" never forgot the events of that day. Holding on to a biased grudge, stories were passed down of how the people of Kumogakure were the aggressors and that their ancestors were wrongly slaughtered for the sake of the Raikage's greed. Though it may have been far from the truth, these tales were engraved upon the hearts of young boys and girls whom were indoctrinated into this hatred.

In present day, the Mudfolk remain a shadow of their former selves in terms of fighting power. But an unknown syndicate of nukenin targeting Kumogakure have taken notice of the Mudfolk's spite towards the village. Taking advantage of this, the nukenin have approached the Mudfolk offering their support in an attack on Kumo's walls with plans to steal a valuable scroll for themselves during the resulting chaos. Can the attack be twarted and the nukenin's plans foiled? Or will Kumogakure suffer an embarrassing loss? The outcome depends on how the shinobi of Kumogakure handle the hardships to come.

C-rank Missions

Mission Title: Scouting Party
Mission Type: Custom
Mission Location: Land of Lightning
Shinobi Requirement: Genin+ [1 and up to two others]
Mission Rank: C
Mission Objective: Reports of suspicious persons lurking in the surrounding areas of the village have been coming in as of late. Scout out a 1 mile radius and see what you can find. No matter what, do not engage if you spot anyone of note. Simple observe what they are up to and then report back to the village. (A scouting part of enemy shinobi without any village head bands will be discovered. They are scoping out the village borders and seem to be fixated upon Kumogakure.)

Mission Title: Trojan Fish
Mission Type: Custom
Mission Location: Land of Lightning
Shinobi Requirement: Genin+ [1 and up to two others]
Mission Rank: C
Mission Objective: The mountains of Kumogakure have many large, deep, rivers flowing through their valleys. Rumors of mysterious dark shadows lurking beneath the waters surface just outside the village barrier have been spreading. Investigate the rumors to discover the source. (Mudfolk are using large fish constructs to spy upon Kumo's defenses. Find a way to block off the rivers to stop future attempts without interrupting the river's flow.)

Mission Objective: We've learned without a doubt that the Mudfolk are the ones responsible for the latest suspicious actions surrounding the village. Their people hold a strong grudge against Kumogakure over the deaths of their kin many generations ago and it is likely they have a biased perspective on history. They were the aggressors in the past and paid the price, but they have grown up being taught otherwise. Scouts have identified some groups of the Mudfolk who seem hesitant about opposing us. Approach these nomadic tribes and speak with them about the uprising their ancestor's attempted. Try to convince them that we did not kill their great grand parents without good reason to prevent them from supporting their fellow Mudfolk in future attacks.

Mission Title: Enemies Into Friends
Mission Type: Custom
Mission Location: Land of Lightning
Shinobi Requirement: Genin+ [1 and up to two others] | Someone must complete History Lesson first
Mission Rank: C
Mission Objective: Some of the Mudfolk reluctant to fight have approached the village seeking peace and protection. Meet with their leader and discuss how to broker a truce with some of the tribes. They may ask for supplies or other incentives in exchange for giving up information on their more aggressive cousins. Don't let this be a one-sided negotiation, but don't cheat them either. These people legitimately need our help and it will do no good to spit in the face of their already tarnished pride.

B-rank Missions

Mission Title: The Big Stick
Mission Type: Custom
Mission Location: Land of Lightning
Shinobi Requirement: Chunin [1 and up to two others]
Mission Rank: B
Mission Objective: Some cocky Mudfolk are made overconfident due to weapons given to them by their nukenin supporters. They push their luck and get a bit too close to the village several days before their planned attack is supposed to occur. A skirmish breaks out! Defeat the group of aggressors and prevent them from reaching the village. There are five of them and they are all Doton users, but without formal shinobi training and are barely skilled enough to be compared to our Genin. Kill or capture the fools, it's up to you.

Mission Title: Breaking Battlements
Mission Type: Custom
Mission Location: Land of Lightning
Shinobi Requirement: Chunin [1 and up to two others]
Mission Rank: B
Mission Objective: A staging area for the impending attack is discovered not too far from Kumogakure. Attack the staging area and destroy their siege weapons, but be careful. Some of the Mudfolk will defend the position to their last breath.

Mission Title: Ring Leaders In The Shadows
Mission Type: Custom
Mission Location: Land of Lightning
Shinobi Requirement: Chunin [1 and up to two others]
Mission Rank: B
Mission Objective: Based on our intel, it seems like the Mudfolk were incited into opposing us again by an unknown third party. Depart from the village and look for one of th Mudfolk scouting parties. Fight them until they flee but do not kill or capture them. Once they run, follow the Mudfolk back to a nukenin leading them. He is the real target. Capture this man alive and interrogate him for information about his comrades to learn of their plan to steal secret scrolls. Use torture if necessary. What you do with him after you get the information is up to you.

A-rank Missions

Mission Title: Best Served Cold
Mission Type: Custom
Mission Location: Kumogakure
Shinobi Requirement: Jonin [1 and up to two others] | At least 5 of the previous missions must be completed
Mission Rank: A
Mission Objective: The Mudfolk launch their attack against Kumogakure using catapults and other long range heavy weapons to fire projectiles into the village across the large 100m deep chasm surrounding it. Take out the six artillery locations and scatter any fighters defending them. Most of the fighters there are not shinobi, but each one has a doton user comparable to one of our chunin leading them. Don't let your guard down!

Mission Title: Nukenin No Swiping
Mission Type: Custom
Mission Location: Kumogakure
Shinobi Requirement: Jonin [1 and up to two others] | At least 5 of the previous missions must be completed
Mission Rank: A
Mission Objective: During the Mudfolk attack, the village barrier detects five unauthorized individuals trying to sneak into the village. Your orders are to intercept them and oust the intruders. Their leader is comparable to a Sp. Jonin and each of his companions are as skilled as Chunin. The group has great team work so it is advised you bring a team of your own to take them on. (If Ring Leaders in the Shadows was completed then we will have additional intel that these nukenin are after secret village scrolls.)
