| Greetings!
This message is for all my fellow Kumo-nin and those who have found themselves in the Land of Lightning for one reason or another. It is a sad truth that our Raikage is inactive and staff has their hands full keeping the site afloat. It is highly unlikely Kumo is going to get any major plot events or anything of that nature any time soon.
But who says we NEED them to have some fun and do something epic!? I'd like to organize a series of custom missions that will tie into an overarching plot for Kumogakure shinobi and others to pursue and have fun with. I can't offer any rewards beyond the points earned on these missions via evals, but hopefully the journey itself will be worth the effort. My general plan is as follows:
-Hold a brainstorm session in this thread to come up with an overall plot a majority of people are interested in. -Hold a poll with the most popular ideas if there are more than one. -Create a set of 5-10 missions depending on how many people are interested that all link into one another. -Go wild and have fun on these missions! -Wrap everything up with a big thread everyone can join that establishes the results and outcomes of the IC actions taken.
I'll be taking it upon myself to read every thread that is part of this "event" to ensure that anything worth noting that occurs over the course of these missions will make its way into the final thread and influence it in some way.
So, you like this idea and want to participate? Great! But lets lay down some ground rules:
- Keep suggestions for ideas within reason. Because this is not staff run, we are kind of limited as to how much of an impact these events can have upon the world. The event and its missions shouldn't have permanent changing effects on Kumogakure. No killing the kage, no burning down half the village, no changing village policies. If you're the creator of a clan based in the village however, and have the authority to decide canon developments for them then feel free to go wild!
- Keep in mind this is an event for everyone in Kumo. Try to avoid ideas or suggestions that would be too specifically geared towards one character or another. Tailoring parts so that your character has drive to join in is fine, but don't make it all about them.
- No trolling or flaming, if you don't like someone else's idea then just don't support it. If anyone starts arguments, flame wars, or needlessly insults someone else's ideas, I'll ask staff to delete their posts and perhaps even lock the thread ruining the event for everyone if it continues to get out of hand. Play nice and remember the point of this is for everyone to have fun.
- Be mindful of different rp styles/motivations as well as different ranks. What I mean by this is that while some people love fighting, others prefer social interactions. While some members might be Jounin, others are still Genin. Try to craft your event ideas with that in mind and offer missions that require battle as well as ones with a more diplomatic/creative approach. Don't forget to vary the ranks of the missions around to accommodate the ranks of everyone who wants to get involved.

| Here is my idea for an event. It is admittedly based upon events in the Kousen clan history, but I'll be setting it up in a manner so that everyone can have a big role to play. While it is based on my clan's history, I don't intend on making my character necessary or pivotal to this event at all.
Overview
The Muddy Revolt. A battle that took place generations ago in Kumogakure's history during the reign of the second Raikage. It was a short but bloody incident in which small clans and tribes living close to Kumogakure attempted to launch an assault on the village. The Kousen clan swiftly dealt with these would-be-usurpers claiming the heads of many leaders among the tribes. The violent subjugation of these people scattered the survivors to the winds leaving them without a home. As generations passed by, the remnants of the "Mudfolk" never forgot the events of that day. Holding on to a biased grudge, stories were passed down of how the people of Kumogakure were the aggressors and that their ancestors were wrongly slaughtered for the sake of the Raikage's greed. Though it may have been far from the truth, these tales were engraved upon the hearts of young boys and girls whom were indoctrinated into this hatred.
In present day, the Mudfolk remain a shadow of their former selves in terms of fighting power. But an unknown syndicate of nukenin targeting Kumogakure have taken notice of the Mudfolk's spite towards the village. Taking advantage of this, the nukenin have approached the Mudfolk offering their support in an attack on Kumo's walls with plans to steal a valuable scroll for themselves during the resulting chaos. Can the attack be twarted and the nukenin's plans foiled? Or will Kumogakure suffer an embarrassing loss? The outcome depends on how the shinobi of Kumogakure handle the hardships to come.
Mission Concepts
1. Scouting Party: A C rank mission where basic scouting is performed. During this mission signs of the Mudfolk getting a bit too close to the village on scouting missions of their own are discovered. Don't engage and return to the village with news so a plan of action can be decided upon.
2. Trojan Fish: A C rank mission where signs of shadows moving beneath the waters of the rivers running below Kumogakure are spotted. Investigation reveals they are large mud fish constructs being used to secretly approach(but not enter) village limits and spy on Kumo's defenses. Find a way to block these fish without cutting off the flow of the rivers or destroy them.
3. History Lesson: A C rank mission where the warped perception of history the Mudfolk hold is discovered. Participants are sent on a diplomatic venture to approach members of the tribe to discuss their qualms with Kumogakure. Find a way to convince them of Kumo's side of the story and blut the edge of aggression among their ranks.
4. Enemies Into Friends: A C rank mission where some Mudfolk reluctant to fight approach Kumogakure seeking peace. Meet with their leader and discuss how to broker a truce with some of the tribes. They may ask for supplies or other incentives in exchange for giving up information on their more aggressive cousins.
5. The Big Stick: A B rank mission where some cocky Mudfolk are made overconfident due to weapons given to them by the nukenin supporters. They push their luck and get a bit too close to the village days before their planned attack is supposed to occur. A skirmish breaks out! Defeat the group of aggressors and prevent them from reaching the village.
6. Breaking Battlements: A B rank mission where a staging area for the attack is discovered not too far from Kumogakure. Attack the staging area and destroy their siege weapons, but be careful. Some of the Mudfolk will defend the position to their last breath.
7. Ring Leaders In The Shadows: A B rank mission where an individual or team is sent out to deal with a Mudfolk scouting party. Fight them until they flee but do not kill or capture them. Once they run, follow the Mudfolk back to a nukenin leading them. He is the real target. Capture this man alive and interrogate him for information about his comrades to learn of their plan to steal secret scrolls. What you do with him after you get the information is up to you.
8. Best Served Cold: An A-rank mission where the Mudfolk launch their attack against Kumogakure using catapults and other long range heavy weapons to fire projectiles into the village across the large 100m deep chasm surrounding it. Take out the six artillery locations and scatter any fighters defending them.
9. Nukenin No Swiping: An A-rank mission to defend the secret scrolls. These Nukenin have found a way inside the village and their elite team is making an attempt to steal the scrolls. Thankfully the village barrier has notified us of their location upon entry. Intercept and defeat all five of them and keep the village secrets safe.
If you like this idea, don't like it, or have suggestions on how to improve it, please let me know in your posts! I'm VERY open to ideas and will edit this accordingly. Especially if your idea would help your character have a personal reason to get involved!

| I'd gladly take place in this event. Sounds like fun. If I have any ideas of my own I'll make sure to post them here. |

| Sidenote.
No one can sneak into Kumogakure any longer due to the barrier that was initially put up so that will muddy your initial concept, but I figured I'd point it out.
I think the idea of doing a plot without staff is necessary and what everyone should honestly be doing, so I really like this idea.

Thanks for the heads up! Although, I'm guessing that this barrier was mainly erected to deal with player character invasions. Would it be possible to loop hole our way around it for plot purposes and say that they have a village insider betraying Kumo and letting them in? A PSN with some kind of grudge.
If so, let me know and I'll add in a few missions surrounding this traitor and how to deal with them. If not, do you have any alternative suggestions for changes we could make? |

No one can sneak into any village because I was told by staff that the barriers in all villages are the same in that they can detect people, unless they have A rank stealth when they pass through it, but will lose track of them the moment they passed through. In that sense, someone could infiltrate the village by passing through the barrier, as long as they have stealth to keep them from being spotted the moment after they pass through said barrier. Seeing as you'll probably be using an NPC for it, you can just make one with good stealth SCs and abilities to keep himself hidden from sight and all that.
But the whole "PSN with a grudge" thing would also work out as they would probably be the only ones who know of a way around the barrier like Itachi did with Konoha's barrier. |

Name: Identification Barrier 10: Virgin Belt – Doutei Shouheki Ju: Oboko Sanjaku Rank: S Type: Fuuinjutsu Range: Far Element: N/A Description: This barrier requires nine ‘flagstones.’ Each flagstone has the necessary seals carved into it and can be placed at equal distance around the village. A flagstone varies in medium and visibility, but most are hidden beneath the ground in order to protect them from discovery. Once activated simultaneously, a barrier is created that surrounds the entirety of the village. Regardless of how one enters, once they cross the borders, their chakra signature is noted. This barrier identifies every signature that passes through. Each Kumogakure shinobi’s signature will be documented and woven into the chakra identification barrier and defined as ‘friendly’. When an unknown variable passes through, an immediate notification will be sent to the Raikage with the approximate location of the asset’s entry via the tenth ‘grounding flagstone’. The item will vibrate and release a shrill note to alert the leader.
When passing through the barrier, one cannot note its presence. It blends in with the chakra of the village and is undetectable.
If one of the flagstones is decimated, the barrier will fall in that particular area. If three of the flagstones are destroyed, the entire barrier falls. If the grounding flagstone, the Raikage’s, is destroyed, the barrier does not fall, but cannot report the presence of unknown signatures either. Chakra Cost: N/A In terms of someone defecting, at this point, the only person who knows the full mechanics of this jutsu would be Tosa, the Raikage, and his advisors. I can't say anything in terms of their participation, but Tosa wouldn't be letting anyone into Kumogakure.
If you want to create some form of conflict, the only way it would allow antagonistic shinobi into the village is if they ALREADY are Kumogakure shinobi. Otherwise, infiltration, since the Chakra of these NPCs would be foreign, would be immediately identified. |

| Oh that's perfect actually. The barrier wouldn't actually stop them from physically "sneaking" into the village. It would just give good reason for the people on the mission to stop the theft to have intel on where to find the intruders.
Would that be correct? |

| Alrighty, I've updated the two relevant missions to reflect this new info~
If anyone has any other ideas/suggestions please bring them forward! I'll give the weekend for feedback. If nothing else is added by then, I'll start working this plot and the mission concepts into something more tangible and approvable so we can get the show on the road. |

| Well, less members posted in this than I had hoped, but that's ok. I think between everyone who expressed an interest, we can do all but the A-rank missions.
I'll work on getting these shaped up into a proper list today~ |

| Until all the missions are complete. No time limit, this isn't an "official" event. It's just something for us to do and have fun with since we don't have an active Raikage. |
