Anyone else seen the latest demo gameplay? Anyone else excited for this game?
As a fan of older final fantasy games(4, 6, 7, Tactics, 9, and even 10), I've been somewhat disappointed in recent years with the series. Nostalgia and the fact that everything's better when you're younger definitely has a role in this. But I haven't really enjoyed a final fantasy release since 10 and that rates pretty low on my list of favorites. The franchise has lost a lot of its charm over the years and the way they've milked games with sequels is frustrating.
This is why I'm very hopeful for VX. The Kingdom Hearts esque game play looks like it will breathe some fresh life into the formula of beautiful graphics, immersive worlds, endearing plots, and rich character development which generally characterizes most FF games. Oh, and don't forget the wonderful music~

Yknow I am really looking forward to this game. I figure it's very much in the same breadth as the first one. A failure could mean the end for JRPG's and maybe Square as we know them today. But if it's a success then it could redefine and revive a dying genre.
I agree things have been weak since about 10, but 12 was good and I've been having some fun with 14 but I'm really looking forward to this new one!

I don't think the games failure would spell the death of JRPGs...but it would definitely be a huge blow to Square-Enix. Thankfully, the preliminary results for the surveys that were part of the demo are in and feedback is very good.
I can't imagine the sales are going to fall short of a success.

Well I'm not arguing with the fact it will be successful. Thats a no brainer. But with square seemingly at the end of multiple ropes it will be interesting to see any potential aftermath. The demo was awesome I got lots of time into it.
I'm not a hugggeee fan of any of the characters thus far buy youre the one with the vids lol

Square is doing just fine. They have the Tomb Raider Sequel coming out and the Deus Ex Sequel coming out (can't wait! take my money *throws at screen*). Sleeping Dogs was a huge success; Hitman Absolution was pretty good as far as remakes go. Also all their FF Lightning games, even if disliked in Europe, were hits in Japan.

Well I don't think they're on the edge of bankruptcy or anything but they've definitely seen better times.

I played this game for exactly one month, and I might say; its very beautiful in terms of graphics but it requires an actual income to keep playing- not only the $15/month subscription but for the good items and raid opportunities. So every month you're paying on average $30. Which is a big no no for a college student.

Lol! I thought it was ARR. My bad! In terms of XV now... I haven't played it yet but with all these videos and game play footage it looks nice.
