I feel like there should be some extra additions to it, honestly. I just feel like the ninja cards aren't adequate, for the reason that Yoru identified; they became easily obsolete. If it is a profession that we expect people to play, I think it must be a bit more in-depth.
Ninja cards should have a wider array of capabilities really. 2/4 of the profession specific jutsus deal with simply writing on a card and allowing the ink to be visible to the user. While it can be nifty, I don't think writing on card alone should be a jutsu, that's quite...illogical to me.
I think that creating a card collected pool of knowledge should exist for anyone taking this profession. What I mean is quite simple, so just try to go along with me for a moment. Given that there will be very minimal usage of this profession, in my opinion, there should be substantial benefits. I believe that if one card has been inscribed with information regarding a shinobi, by any user, anyone in the profession should be able to utilize that information. The cards should have a collective knowledge about them. Of course the surrounding knowledge will grow the more times a character interacts with information specialists, and will increase the difficulty of fighting against one in some cases.
The usable collective information regarding a player should be stored on the profession page, BUT, any additional information to be added must be done so by the information specialist in a profession update thread. Characters who become inactive, die, etc., can be removed from the list by moderators. This change could be done with the implementation of 2 jutsu:
a.) Gathered Data Reveal: The technique displays some/all of the information that has been gathered on a particular shinobi. (Amount of knowledge revealed can be increased with rank)
b.) Inscription Transfer: Transfers the gained knowledge into the knowledge collective after it has been inscribed on a card. (Therefore, any knowledge not inscribed does not join the collective and can be kept to the characters themselves).
The aforementioned change brings about a new dimension to the profession: Will I share my knowledge or horde it to myself? There are benefits to both that I think some users might find interesting ways to play with.
