Yasiin ducked behind a tree, drawing on his bow gently before he took aim at a small deer thirty meters away from him. The dirt beneath his feet was soft from the rain last night, leaves still wetm water dripping from branches. This deer was small, a young one, big enough for a few meals but light enough to carry back home. It had ran from him a few times, but was getting tired with every sprint through the forest, and eventually stopped to graze on some leaves and drink from a small hole filled with clear rain water.

A white and biege tail flickered against the wind as it dropped its long neck down to the water, ears still twitching. Yasiin watched from the foliage, invisible in the clothes Black had given him. Among the foliage of the forest, he was nothing more than a mere speck that required too much focus for an animal to clearly make out.

There was an issue though. The deer's ribcage flared tirelessly as it tried to recouperate from being chased. Every moment that Yasiin didn't take the shot, was a moment that the deer had to run more. Yasiin could aim directly at its stomach, but the foliage before him would tip off the sound of the arrow as the leaves were too thick. He thought about how Black kept telling him that hunting creatures was no longer worth it, and was a waste of time.

Yet he continued to draw until the bow was taunt. He paced his breathing like his father had taught him. Black filled his mind once again about how he needed to hunt shinobi, how he needed to focus on how he was going to hunt a ninja to death, to out last the predator of all predators. Being so far from home made him sick of this new world that he had no understanding of. Hunting and survival was the only thing that brought him back. This was simple. The circle of life.

So he let the arrow go.

With amazing speed it flickered through the jungle foliage, barely loosing any speed from the leaves trying to bleed its velocity. The deer was tipped off as he thought, but couldnt react fast enough. The arrow missed its mark, missing the fleshly soft belly, but was able to stick itself right in its thigh, tucked tightly. It ran, and as soon as it did it ducked away from his eye sight.

Yasiin closed his eyes and took in a deep breath, listening to the sound of its frantic chakra. A few hundred feet, nothing too much. Its pace began to slow, he could tell, the sound of its chakra not so far away from him now. He decided to run after it, no need to dash through the forest, he had all the time in the world to continue the hunt.

"This sucks. I got knocked out in the middle of combat. I can't believe I let myself get overwhelmed like that."

Kirei mumbled as he walked down through the forest. It felt like home despite being in a different country. The forest wasn't quite what he expected in the land of mountains, it was unnaturally thick. It really was like being home, but it still made him feel uncomfortable. He couldn't see any incoming threats not to mention he was about ready to leave this place. The rustling sound of bushes caught Kirei's attention. He spun on his heels to see a deer in the distance limping away from something. That usually wasn't a good sign.

"I wonder..."

Kirei muttered as he slipped his mask over his face. He was still wearing his battle attire. His kunai pouch on right thigh with this shuriken pouch on his the back of his left hip. He used what little stealth he had to slowly approach the from where the deer ran from. His dark suit didn't blend in well with the foliage but his stealth made up for that. He hid in the shadows as he stood still, his breath starting to become ragged.

"Byakugan."

The world lit up immediately. Everything became clear, the deer's wound was an arrow in it's thigh. The person who shot the arrow was before Kirei. He was dark and tall, darker than Kirei. His attire suggested that he wasn't just a hunter. The young hyuuga's hand instinctively grabbed a kunai out of his pouch. Wielding it in his right hand, the blade was pointed away from him. It was a more of a defensive stance than anything. But what was more worrying wasn't his attire or the injured deer. Rather it was how far way from the deer he was. Kirei only had a good twelve or thirteen meters from the deer. But the stranger was on the edge of his vision.

That was skill to shoot that far and accurate. It worried Kirei but he knew better than to act based on fear. His left hand was held in front of him as he slowly walked towards the man. The poor genin couldn't stop his hand from shaking for a moment. His voice would crack if he cried out. He didn't know what was going to happen but he needed to see if this guy was friendly or not.

"Hey!"

"Are you friendly?"

The world seemed to grow dark for a minute before his voice steadied. He was calm now. The shaking stopped so now he was able to collect himself. Normally a person wouldn't hear Kirei that well but that man wouldn't seem to have a problem with it. If his sight was that good to shoot he would at least be able to see Kirei.

Yasiin had known someone else was in the area, but naturally assumed the deer would not happen to run into his course. Though he was not keen on engaging a ninja, he was more so concerned about the deer and focused intently on bringing his lunch and dinner for the next few days home. So in his pursuit, he continued to chase after the deer until he was about 30 meters away from it. At this point it had clearly stopped, unable to endure the pain that burrowed itself in its thigh. Hopefully it could pull the arrow out with its mouth, but would probably lack the strength to rip the arrow through new flesh, after all, running around caused more injury.

Once he was close enough to the deer and hoped the ninja would avoid him, the ninja decided to do the exact opposite. In his world it was clear that this was his hunt, and anyone else should simply move along or offer assistance. Yet this person intended on approaching him, speaking in the foul language that Black could easily speak.

He heard a noise come from his mouth, like a yelp of choking dog. He turned towards him an met eye contact for a second, something strange with this ninjas eyes. When he spoke again, Yasiin wondered. Black. This must be some type of trial. So he pulled a quiver quickly from his quiver, pointed it directly at the other ninja and fired.

What he hoped was to kill him in one blow, or hit him near the stomach. The accuracy of his shot at this range with that bow was pretty close, even though the bow had an effective range of only fifty meters and he was about that far away from the shinobi, his accuracy would kick in. He would lead the shot of course, aiming it slightly above the boy in an attempt to hit his stomach. It would appear that the arrow was aimed directly for his head however. Only 45 meters away, he was capable of such feats of accuracy. He had hit moving rabbits before from much farther distances, this was nothing.

He spoke the only word he knew after firing, preparing himself for the inevitable... His thick accent almost masked the word entirely.

“Hunt...”

"Don't do that!"

Kirei|Alter yelled out in an attempt to stop his foe. It stopped nothing other than Kirei's hesitation. The bow was already fully drawn back and the enemy's muscles were fully extended. He was going to release that weapon any minute now. The arrow was released and so was Kirei's adrenaline. He leapt to his left, narrowly avoiding the first arrow. Still paying attention to his surroundings, the young genin pulled wire from out his shuriken pouch. The enemy had drawn another arrow now, did he see Kirei pull the wire out? That didn't matter as he mouthed something towards the hyuuga.

"Hunt..."

Kirei echo'd back as the next arrow was released for the genin. He repeated the same motion of hoping to his left, thankful for such a large distance between them. He was able to see the arrow being fired letting him react in time. If he didn't have the byakugan he would have been killed already. The dark skinned hyuuga dashed between the trees, tying the wire to the end of his shuriken.

This distance was also a curse. The closer Kirei got the better his enemy's chance of hitting became. He needed to close the distance if he wanted to even hope of hurting this enemy. His mask felt awkward on his face for once. But that wasn't important. He was only ten meters closer from his previous position. A good forty meters separated the two now. Ducking behind a tree, Kirei took in a deep breath. He needed to calm down and be sneaky. If his opponent has good eye sight then he won't be able to rush him. He couldn't sprint and be quiet at the same time. That was a technique he hadn't gained yet. Instead he opt'd to climb the tree he hid behind.

A quick handseal let him climb the tree stealthily without giving away his position. Little did Kirei know that his opponent didn't need to see him to know where he was. He leapt from branch to branch. Slowly trying to close the distance on his opponent while watching his surroundings. If things went his way he'd be able to easily corner this opponent.

When the second arrow missed its mark, Yasiin's mind began to calculate the movements of his opponent. He didn't need to do anything fancy now to track him as he had his eyes. When he jumped to the left, Yasiin pulled his fourth arrow, holding it in the same hand that he held the bow as he began to move towards the boys position, but maintaining distance. These arrows were considerably fast, and harder to avoid the closer he got.

Yasiin's advantage was range, and in order to properly hunt his prey he first needed not to underestimate it. He remembered back to a time with his father where he had underestimated a jungle cat he took for something no more than a rabbit. Yasiin can still feel those claws ravage his legs.

As he watched him, he followed him the moment he moved to dash between the trees doing his best to keep an eye on what his hands were doing. How do you hunt the same type? He wondered. Hands and feet, muscles and eyes. Hunting animals as a human is easy, it is very easy to outlast a wolf in long term combat or a snake or even a falcon. Though they contain power that surpasses ours in smelling or biting strength or bursts of speed, they must rest.

Eventually, this human must rest as well.

As he moved into the foliage, Yasiin lost track of him for a second and couldn’t see him. Where would he be? Most likely, the shinobis take to the trees, but then again none of the upper foliage moved. He smelled the air, tracing the scent of the shinobi's chakra to a tree not so far away from him. Still being a good 38 meters away from him, Yasiin stopped moving as to achieve silence. Though he was not stealthy yet, he could still play games.

Yasiin quietly reached into his pocket and withdrew one of the kunai and tied an explosive note around the handle. Black had told him many of times, the way to hunt shinobi does not lie in the length of the run or the accuracy of the bow, or even the power of the fist. It lies in the mind. Yasiin was still trying to figure out what he meant by that.

The moment he had stopped moving, Yasiin ducked into a brush as quietly as possible, nothing louder than the ambiance of the forest itself. He could smell his opponent and his foul chakra climb a tree, slowly trying to get closer to him. Before the stranger could get close, Yasiin threw the note with his free hand to a branch a few meters away from, with just enough accuracy to make it stick into the branch so that he would see the note clearly. He then quickly moved away without a care for how it would sound, running away from the area while readying his arrow and keeping his eyes in the area of his opponent.

The one benefit of the byakugan was the sight it provided. It let Kirei see all around him. As long as he maintained focus, his great intellect let him process everything at once. The hunter, as Kirei would soon refer to him, drew a kunai with a tag attached to it. He threw the kunai in the general direct of Kirei, hinting that he knew where the hyuuga was. That wasn't good, so Kirei adjusted his battle tactic as such. The dark skinned hero prepared to strafe around the area where the kunai would land when he approached it. Forgoing the stealth for speed. His footsteps could be heard once more as he leapt from branch to branch trying to close the distance between him and his enemy.

"You don't wanna talk? Is it cause you're scared of me?"

Kirei would call out in jest, trying to coerce something out of the foreign man. He still kept his mind focused despite these attempts, watching the bow. He needed to dodge these attacks and close the distance. But the wire only gave him about twelve meters at most to his range. The kunai was still in his right hand with the wire wrapped around his left. Only thirty meters was between the two now. Kirei was able to slowly gain on his target. But something seemed off. Most shinobi had jutsu to keep opponents at bay if they were long range. Rather this one just kept his distance.

Is he just conserving chakra or is he just awful at ninjutsu? Perhaps he is more akin to genjutsu if he won't do anything. Kirei thought to himself as he stopped suddenly. It wasn't good to stop but being predictable didn't help either. He made a sudden hop to the right, landing on a tree branch. The explosive note he made note of was ten meters before him. He had to be careful, may would forget of the note's existence. His opponent seemed keen on stalling out this fight however. Kirei began to hop around the kunai, keeping a good 10 meter radius around it. He strafed around it on the right side so if his opponent attacked he wouldn't get knocked into the kunai. If his plan went well he would have fully made a circle around the kunai while continuing the chase of his enemy. Thankful of his byakugan, Kirei was able to keep an eye on his surroundings at all times.

How would Yasiin describe this encounter to Black? Black used a word that was long and difficult to describe him and his ability to hunt anything in the world. What was it again? Evolutionary. At the sacrifice of ninja techniques, the Imakandi had gained something greater than firepower. And Yasiin understood greatness, he was there when they killed Shinjin Shikyo. That man had been much harder to follow and of course they lost numbers during the bout.

So why was he running away from this ninja? Yasiin was not hunting. If he wanted to impress Black he had to start now.

The first thing Yasiin decided to do was wait until he had his eyes on his prey right after throwing the knife. He could hear his footsteps and could see him leap from branch to branch. His eyes watched as he ran backwards into the foliage, aiming the arrow at his prey who kept making noises of communication. He so desperately wanted to say in his language “Be still and die” but he remembered how Black told him being secretive was important.

One they were about thirty meters away and he had a clear shot, he pulled back using his strength and accuracy for a shot aimed directly at his stomach. His muscles would tighten harder than normal, allowing the arrow to shoot far faster than it had been before. His accuracy allowed him to wait until the correct timing, making it very difficult to be dodged by simply moving.

The explosive note trick failed, terribly but had given him a new opening, one created out of fear of the unknown. When his prey hopped to the right, he had to jump and land. The distance and accuracy along with extra fire power from raw strength – this bow surely delivered more than enough. Yasiin lead his shot to the point where his opponent had to land, nothing more, nothing less. His hopping had left him vulnerable for a brief second. Avoiding this would be difficult by movement.

After firing his arrow, Yasiin turned around and ran in full force away from his opponent, monitoring his chakra as he let loose his speed. Eventually his goal far enough away from his opponent that his mannerisms changed.

Kirei saw the bow prepared to fire the final shot towards him. However this time it was different, his enemy strained his muscles. It was going to fire faster than Kirei had been previously used to. That's fine. I can just land and slip off the branch using the academy jutsu to hold myself upside down. It'll be the safest way. Even if I get hit it would only be in my arm or thigh depending on how fast this arrow is. But the arrow was faster than he expected, as he started to land something kicked in. It was something akin to fear but he wasn't feeling it. The real Kirei began to panic internally. No! That'll kill me if it hits! He screamed in his head as his body moved on its own. As the arrow zoomed towards him he quickly thrust out his left hand creating a vacuum shell. The arrow was knocked away letting Kirei escape the predicament with no harm done. You idiot! We need to conserve chakra. You can't waste it like that. Kirei|Alter berated himself internally. It was strange for Kirei to experience a conversation with his other self. He almost didn't comprehend it and went silent.

"You can't run forever!"

Kirei would call out as he sprinted after the now fleeing enemy. Their thirty meter gap started to grow again. Something that Kirei couldn't let happen. It wasn't in his best interest to let this opponent leave the range of his byakugan. Slowly the distance climbed from thirty to thirty-three, then thirty-five. Kirei was able to keep up enough for the distance to not grow exponentially. But it was apparent this foe was faster than him. His tactic of the kunai and wire was going to be moot if he didn't close the distance to at least ten meters. He tucked it into the shuriken pouch and opt'd to pull out two shuriken. The young hyuuga kept his eyes trained on the world around him. Watching for something, anything to let him catch up. His opponent was able to track him somehow without his eyes, perhaps it was hearing. Kirei had a few theories the most predominant one being hearing but that didn't explain how he found him previously.

My feet were silent as always. The only other sense left would be smell, or taste. I doubt he can taste me but what about me can he smell? His chakra doesn't fluctuate from his head. It has been consistent through out his body. He doesn't have a dojutsu it seems, so the only thing left is smell. Perhaps he is a rouge Inuzuka member? Kirei thought to himself as he saw his chance. The distance between the two was forty meters with his opponent not deviating his trail aside from a straight sprint. With all his strength and accuracy he could muster, Kirei threw his two shuriken. Each were aimed for the center of mass, as they whizzed through the air towards their target. The best they would do is stagger him temporarily from the sudden pain. It wouldn't be enough to make him stop completely but it would give Kirei the chance to regain at least a few meters of distance back.
