As a man who is never really sitting around long enough to get bored, Hiruzen had set his sights on a place not far from the lightning temple. In fact, it was sitting between the village and the temple, making it the perfect location for a secondary base of operations. Maybe it would be wise to set up a base in a location such as this and make it his main base instead. His other base currently sat near the southern border of the lightning country, though he had done so because he did not want to start any trouble with the Hidden Cloud so soon after leaving the village. Now that more than two years had passed since his departure, he had aided in the fight against at least two members of the Parabrahma, he had earned the right to go and stand wherever he pleased. That said, there was really no one strong enough to stop him from doing something once he had set his sights on it. Wandering through the forest, he temporarily stopped to look at a now abandoned natural hot spring.

Many, many years ago, this very same forest had received many visits from a young Hiruzen. Back when his father was still an alcoholic mourning the death of his wife while blaming the birth of his only son as the culprit that took her away from him, he did not much enjoy being home. The hostility in the household had always kept him from being home much, meaning he spent a lot of time in the forest of sanctuary. The hot spring he was looking at right now had once been filled with a family of monkeys, macaques to be precise. They were one of many families of animals that lived in the forest of sanctuary, because it was as the name suggested, a sanctuary. As it had been a safe haven for animals, so did it become a safe haven for the young Uchiha too. The family of monkeys had proven time again that they were quick to take things and mimic them, hand seals being one of them. Back in the days, he had practiced his hand seals with these monkeys too, increasing the speed behind his seals up to the point where they could no longer keep up and got angry with him.

That was, however, fifteen years ago, and it was unlikely to believe that most of these monkeys were still even alive at this time. Most had been several years older than he was at the time, so those that were still alive now had most likely made families of their own by now while being considered as the grandparents of the group. Wherever they were, this particular hot spring did not look like it had seen a lot of action lately. Moving on, he wandered further into the forest in order to find the perfect location for his new underground bunker. Wherever he was going to make it, he did not want to disturb the local wildlife too much, nor did he want to accidentily destroy one of their homes in the creation of his own. As such, he kept all of his senses at their peak to tell if there was any movement either above, around or beneath him. One of the many perks granted to those that mastered the earth element was that they could move the earth without disturbing or destroying the flora on top of it, which was something Hiruzen took a strange amount of pride in.

Hearing a great deal of birds around him, he knew that staying in a place like this would work wonders for him. When he had left the Hidden Cloud, he had stopped by several of the main temples inhabited mostly by Ninja monks in hopes of finding ways in which he could get stronger and work on his temper issues. Luckily, most of the issues of his past had been resolved when he came to terms with them, making him a better person for it. Wandering around in a black cloak that covered his body from head to toe, he had most of his face covered up as well. There were some people out there that were still after him and whatever bounty he had on his head in the regions close to his former home. As things were now, he did not really feel like killing anyone for trying to kill him, which was really the only kind of killing he did. Mercy killing and self defense, those were the only kinds he really got into these days. Not really seeing himself as a mere shinobi anymore, he no longer had to kill anyone anymore unless he was forced into it. Continuing to wander, he would know the moment someone even attempted to get remotely close to him.

The day started off real well. At last after the defense against the Parabrahma, Akiko had earned some well earned rest. She was sore and images of the lifeless army kept flashing across her eyes but her only respite was that she had some time to kill to travel back to Kumo. Naturally, she took the long scenic route. The country side quickly turned from rocks and dirt to grass and trees. Out of all the different environments the world contained Akiko's favorite was the forest. Everything in the habitat encouraged growth and strength. Trees competed to reach higher heights and grab more sunlight. Predators hunt,  prey field, and the rest scavenged what they could to manage an existence. Something about this world  thrilled Akiko. The creatures here truly lived.

Though the battle was won, it left her disenchanted with a lot of things in her life. The Parabrahma wanted to change the world and she too felt that this was necessary. Akiko despised what they wanted to do with this power to change the world though, finding it rather distasteful for non-shinobi to ever be regarded as second hand citizens or slaves. People needed to be able to choose their own destiny and for once she agreed to be on Kumo's side. The alternative would have been far worse. Although she helped protect the Daimyo, she still had doubts that one should even exist. These thoughts swirled around in her head distracting her from the beauty of the forest that crowded around her. Her mind jumped from how interesting every rodent and plant was to how she longed to freely walk among them.

Akiko spotted a particularly big tree. It looked very old but its age also provided strength. With a hefty jump, Akiko sprung onto the side of the massive tree, kicking off of its bark to land on a branch putting her several meters above the forest floor. Her eyes scanned the beautiful area, green with life. At first she glanced a dark figure under the darkness of the shadows but after she squinted Akiko assumed she saw a deer of some sort. Quickly, her eyes went back to admiring the spider webbing of branches. It would of been more appealing if she could see above the tree line but felt some joy when she spotted a small clearing not far away. The tree continued much more into the sky than she was willing to travel and Akiko was feeling what she referred to as a "war hangover". That did not, however, stop her from leaping from her perch to another smaller trees branch and swinging herself closer the clearing. Akiko landed into a soft skid, almost losing her balance as she landed. With a slight shake of her blonde head, Akiko continued her casual walk towards the clearing. She did not have ways to detect people from afar but she made sure her ears were open. Not only to hear the chirpings and chitterings of wildlife but also against surprises.

As he wandered through the forest, Hiruzen's sixth sense warned him of another presence entering his field of sensory. Compared to his own, the amount of chakra he sensed was fairly small. That said, he knew that few managed to reach the level of chakra he had inside of him, so this was really not much of a surprise at all. Pulling the hood of his black cloak down to reveal his face, he turned around to look at the direction in which he sensed the chakra signature. For some time, he sensed only that it was gradually getting closer but could not actually see the person in question due to the dense foliage. Most Ninja were wise by using factors such as foliage into their approach, though it did not seem like the person that was approaching him was actually making an attempt at hiding. If he or she was, they were not exactly doing a good job at it, that much was for sure. To him, it did not really matter if people were trying to hide themselves or not. With his perceptive and sensory skills, hiding was as close to impossible as it was going to ever get. While he waited for the unknown to get closer, he had another good look at his surroundings.

It was good to know that so little of the landscape itself had changed since he had last been here. All that had changed was that the trees had gotten taller in places, the shrubbery had increased in how close together all of the leaves were growing and some of the smaller plants had grown to far larger sizes. It was to be expected though as it had been at least ten years since he last visited. Waiting just a bit longer, something finally popped up into his line of sight. Figuring that his best bet was to suspect the incoming person as a shinobi from the Hidden Cloud, he wondered whether or not that person was going to present him or herself as an enemy to him. While he had left the village with potentially dangerous information inside of his head, he had acted against the Parabrahma by making sure two of their strongest members went down. Certainly he had shown his strength, even though the fighting he had done was severely held back so as to not kill one of the members and through using a clone to fight the other. Anyone who would still try to go up against him on his own was nothing short of a complete idiot.

Still, Hiruzen welcomed people to try. The more people he killed that wanted him dead, the better his future would be. By the time someone entered his visual range, he could tell that this person was a girl. The closer she got, the more the feeling of knowing who this person was grew. It was not until she entered the clearing in the forest when he could see her face that his suspicions were proven right. He vaguely remembered the girl as a part of two shinobi he had once sparred, if one could call it that. The one she had been having a conversation with before he came up to them had frozen up in fear of getting hurt. The girl had tried to put up a fight, but fell to his Genjutsu all too easily. All things considered, their "spar" had been quite a letdown. It had been a long time since he had seen someone from the Hidden Cloud that he knew from back when he was still a young shinobi climbing through the ranks, so seeing someone that met the criteria was quite refreshing. Knowing that he had forgotten what her name was at the time, he moved to the most important thing straight away.

"Greetings. I thought it would be a good day to wander through the forest, though it seems like I was not the only person with this thought in mind. Pleasantries aside, I have to ask, did you come here for any particular purpose or just for the sake of sight-seeing?".
