| Increased Speed: Because Saya spends so much time training her body to be at the absolute peak of performance, Saya has gained a supernatural edge over her training. This constant physical training is only further enhanced by Saya's constant use of very heavy training weights. The two have combined to turn Saya into the absolute pinnacle of physical perfection. Because of this Saya is 20% faster than most Shinobi. It should be noted that this speed bonus is nullified by her training weights, and does not stack with the bonus she receives for removing them. However, when her weights are not worn, Saya has a constant 20% speed bonus. |

| I'd like an after-effect, obviously you'd be wearing the weights so your not moving at this speed all the time, because if you were you would do some kind of damage to your body most likely. Speed is one of the things many people say they are 'better' than others at, like strength too. Saying that you are 20% percent faster than most shinobi doesn't really mean much because of this, try describing in more detail why you have a speed advantage. |

| Mmmkay! Lets take a look at Saya an see how this 20% increase in speed works out, and what I had in mind. While yes, a speed boost is an amazingly nice thing to have, 20% is nothing. XD If we really take some time to look at Saya's speed boost, her speed becomes more obvious. First, lets look at my training weights.
- Spoiler:
Name: Training Weights Location Storage Scroll. Though these items are bound into the storage scroll, Saya rarely ever releases the summoning and sends them back into the scroll. When Saya wishes she need only cast the jutsu to banish the weights back into the scroll. These weights are worn on her wrists and shins. Rank: C Type: Equipment Natural Abilities: These training weights cause every moment to take a huge amount of effort. Wearing them causes nearly constant exhaustion. After wearing them for so long, Saya has acclimated to their weight and can move as quickly as a nomal Chuunin while wearing them. When she removes them she receives a huge boost to her speed for a short while. For 2 posts after removing her weights Saya receives a 75% bonus to her speed. The bonus fades to 50% for 3 posts after that, and then fades away completely. While she is wearing her weights Saya is also very difficult to lift, carry, or push. They also make swimming much more difficult. These weights cause exhaustion, but Saya is able to overcome that thanks to her clan's abilities. The strain on her chakra supply causes her to have 1 less B rank in chakra reserves than a typical Chuunin.
Alright, so these are already on my sheet, and are clearly quite nice. When I remove them my speed almost doubles. 75% is a pretty nice boost to speed, but I actually have more speed boosts beyond that. My clan, the Ashigaru clan, has another speed boost built in. This is a secret clan jutsu which makes them able to keep up with ninjas, inspite of not having access to a ton of jutsu. Lets take a look at it as well.
- Spoiler:
Name: Swift Spear Rank: E-S Type: Weaponry Element: None Description: This jutsu makes the Ashigaru faster when using their weaponry. By expending an amount of chakra, the shinobi is pushes it out into their muscles and joints to make them more flexible and faster. A shinobi will find themselves 5% faster per rank of chakra expended. This increase lasts for two posts before it fades, with no lasting side effects. (E-5%, D-10%, C-15%, B-20%, A-25%, S-30%) As you can see it varries by rank. C rank, being a better buy than B rank, is typicaly what I use, however I am capable of using the B rank level as well. Assuming I drop my weights, and activate swift spear jutsu, I could have a total of 95% speed boost, which is a pretty nice ability to have. I would have to judge saya as one of the faster ninjas out there.. for 2 posts.
Now, the speed boost ties in in a kinda strange way. Because my weights are meat to counteract the speed boost, the constant 20% doesn't show up untill the full effects of the eights are removed. So, I can not go beyond that 95% increase. This is good, because it wouldn't make sense for the two abilities to stack.. however. I also feel it doesn't make sense that when the weights are removed, I would be as fast as when I'm wearing them. While I can see a speed reduction as perfectly fair, I think this sort of speed boost is more appropriate. And fun! Allow me to do the math for you all.
When I drop my weights I get a 75% speed boost. 2posts later it fades to 50%. After 3 more posts, it completely fades, however after that her 20% spee boost kicks in, and it becomes constant. Counting all the different ways of increasing speed I have, I actually have several different speeds I can work at. They are like this.
Swift Spear(b) + Weights = 95(2post) then 50% for three posts.
Swift Spear C rank, on it's own gives me a 15% speed boost.
The weights on their own give me a 75-50% speed boost.
Swift Spear at B rank(which is a bad deal for the chakra cost) is a 20% speed boost.
Now, while this may seem nice, keep in mind I pretty much have to choose one. While I usualy start low and work my way up, the Chuunin has one thing that really helps balance out her speed, other than her lack of jutsu. Swift Spear only lasts for 2 posts, which is not a whole lot of time to get some real progress made. Even with crazy speed, people still block and dodge.. and I am perfectly fine with that. However, because wearing 600lbs of weights all the time is so exhausting, Saya is low on chakra. She's low on chakra, instead of exhausted, because her clan has a D rank technique that completely ignores exhaustion. Because it doesn't last long, she's forced to use her Soldier's Endurance over and over all day, and it drains 2 B ranks of chakra from her, which pretty much leaves her with much less chakra than other nins. Though she isn't a big user of ninjutsu, Saya uses her clan jutsu with great frequency. Because I'm low on chakra, it keeps me from using m clan techniques at B rank, unless I just don't want to have chakra left. So, while powerful, it's not one of those guaranteed kinda deals.
So.. the negative drawback of this speed boost, is that I'm not likely to use it. I'll only ever have access to the speed boost 5 posts after I get rid of my weights. Until then, it's just hidden away, concealed by the training weights. If you want to look at it like this.. Saya is 20% faster because she's trained so hard, but even still the weights slow her down by 20%. So the bonus nullifies the drawback while I'm wearing my weights.
Just for some more math, because it is a pretty powerful SC, I will make the math plain and clear. Adding this trait to my character would look something like this.
Swift Spear at C rank, 5posts after weights are removed = 35% speed boost. Swift Spear B rank, 5 posts after weights are removed = 40% speed boost.
No jutsu, weights still on = Average speed. No boost.
No Jutsu, 5 posts after weights are removed = 20% speed boost.

| I think we should allow her this characteristic just for the effort she's put in.
It's your call Adam. ;] |

| Honestly, I think I should be allowed this characteristic because it suits my character. It is something she should have based on the fact that's spent her entire life training to be deadly and efficient with her weapons. While most training will get you do be average, even if you train a lot, my character trains like Rock Lee. Every day, all day. When she is not on duty, she is running circles around the village while wearing her weights. When she's not on a mission, she's practicing every one of her many, many weapons. Saya eats, sleeps, and breaths, weapon training. It's all she cares about.
She is deadly without this trait, and really, not much more deadly with it. Removing her weights is her trump card, so she is rarely without them. If someone does manage to survive the five posts following the weight removal, chances are Saya isn't going to win that fight anyway. Really, I only want this because it should be on her sheet. |

| Unapproved, I didn't mean plead your case in a second post, I mean describe it in the SC description. o.o
Also, once it is approved, I'll think of a decent amount of words you can do, because just like everything else, this needs to be trained. |

| I guess I'm not sure what you meant by after effect? As its worded is how I wanted the SC worded on my sheet. And I'm fine with training it, I like training topics. There's already a ton of them out there. ^-^
This SC is constantly active, not something I activate. So, if I don't see it as having any after effects. It is an after effect itself, of wearing my training weights. |

| Well, you state you wear training weights, to make sure you doing use your full speed all the time. When you take them off, you'd move quicker. I'd suspect you wear the training weights because if you didn't you'd be moving to quick for your own good and do damage to your legs. So you need to have an after effect for when you remove the training weights and move with them off. |

| Hmm... let me think on that. honestly, I could add something like this, it isn't healtyh to push your body that hard all the time.. however, Saya has Hage's vine healing, so damage done to Saya would just be healed by the magical vines he planted in her.
I do have an effect from the weights as constant exhaustion from hauling their weight around. My character is also specialy designed to resist this drawback with her clan jutsu which renders her immune to the effects of exhaustion. As such, the exhaustion is transfered to Saya's Chakra supply, and she has 3 C ranks of chakra less than most chuunin. This was about the only real drawback I could think to apply that I couldn't get around easily enough. I could raise this number, but even 2 B ranks leaves me with considerably less than most chuunin.
of course.. I'm going to overcome that by doing chakra training and increasing my supply through missions and training topics as the rules are laid out for. While this will help me be back on average, I'll still be below others who have trained for chakra control and supply. I dunno, I like this draw back, I thought it helped balance saya out. Let me know what you think. |
