Calm Before the Storm

Koma eased himself into the pool of bubbling water. His eyes covered by the thick pair of sunglasses that seemed permanently glued to his face. He tilted his head upward, looking at the crescent moon that stared down at him. The lighting of the Hot Springs was an odd red, a color that he liked. Not because it was the morbid color of blood but just because red was an awesome color. His expression gave away no sense of joy or pain of the scalding water. He only rested on the blazing stones of the hot springs, trying as hard as he could to relax. It was harder than most people might think. He had a lot of things on his mind, even though a Genin should be having the utmost joy in his life. But he didn't feel that way, he felt no sense of happiness at this promotion. Strangely enough, his hands were completely bare, usually he had his gloves with him, but he didn't feel as if that was necessary right now. "This is what it means to be in paradise..." He thought aloud. He put his hands behind his head, slowly slipping farther down the pool of steaming water, until only his nose was above the water.

He closed his eyes, even though it would be unnoticeable behind his sunglasses. With a bubbly sigh, he felt as if he had just entered a world of dreams. He no longer felt the warmth of the pool only a sense of peace and calmness that only lying naked in a puddle of water could bring you. The world he had entered was one of extreme bliss. The sky was a mellow yellow, and he hovered on a cloud of hope. Down below him, sheep wandered around, their soft wool looking like an extremely beautiful pillow. If only this dream was reality. He smiled underwater, why couldn't he feel like this everyday? Oh... That was right... He was a ninja, doomed to the lonely life of fighting. He wondered as he constantly did why he had become a ninja. He thought it would be exciting of course. Behind his lazy attitude he was actually happy to be a ninja, it was so much better than being a royal. Having the stress of behaving well all the time, not having a moments rest because of the constant lessons and such. Who really cared if you had a fork or spoon in the wrong place?

The young ninja balled his fists together, feeling the once blissful mode being desecrated by darkness. "Feel the light, man..." he murmured to himself. The peace that surrounded him was one of the only things he relished in the world, one of the only things he truly wanted. To be able to rest forever and ever. Without a care in the world. But such a life could only be paved by hard work. Something he had come to know. Contrary to belief, being the son of a rich man did not make his life a piece of cake. He had to deal with too many stressful activities, and attend places he never wanted to go to. He was always his 'Father's Son', and no one else besides him. He rose out of the water abruptly, sneezing water out of his nose while shaking it out of his hair. That spontaneous dunk had shocked him back to his senses. With a hacking cough he fell back into the pool of water, assuming the bored position as before, his thoughts of his family vanished, replaced with peace... One that would not last.
