| Ibuki groaned and stretched, rolling off of his bed to answer the annoying tapping at his window. Opening the blinds slightly so as not to let too much light into the room and blind himself, Ibuki slowly blinked and opened the window to let the messenger bird in. When the bird was in the room, Ibuki shut the blinds again and let his eyes slowly adjust to the light as he searched for a frozen rat he normally kept in the freezer for occasions like this. Normally he managed to avoid getting birds sent to his house to wake him up at ungodly hours by taking night missions, but after the mission he had just come in from, he had been too exhausted to do his normal routine, instead passing out for almost a full sixteen hours straight. It was apparent from that length of sleep that Ibuki’s insomnia finally caught up to him. Now though, he would be good to go for the next few days, easily not needing to sleep for a while.
Yawning as he went into the shower, a faint boom caught Ibuki’s ears, but he shrugged it off, thinking it was a dumpster slamming shut, or a door father away in the apartment complex. That kind of stuff happened all the bloody time and annoyed him to no end. Surprisingly though, he had hear nothing last night, he was in such a deep sleep. Of course, when he came out of the shower and started to get dressed, the room was excessively darker and loud bangs could be heard across the village of Suna. Ibuki groaned. Once every so often, Suna would get a downpour of rain, like most deserts. The rain came from the mountains towards Kumogakure and Iwagakure, building up and building up until finally the entire monsoon sized storm system, or perhaps tropical storm system, cleared the mountains and tore through the desert, soaking everything and making travel extremely difficult. This happened to be a very rare event, especially this deep in the desert, and it showed the testimony to the sheer destructive power of nature.
Sighing as he got dressed, Ibuki made sure to grab a change of clothes and throw them in a waterproof bag as well as regular paper for his seal design ideas and other things that really shouldn’t get wet, such as matches and types of perishable foods. Throwing on a cloak that had a seal in it to repel water, standard attire for Suna nin for travelling into other countries, designed by the Kazekage, Ibuki set out on the stone roads, shaped eerily like slopes. Why the roads were shaped like this when there was little to no rain ever confused Ibuki, but the Kazekage was the Kazekage and there did not need to be a reason for his madness. He was just mad in general. Ibuki shook his head and rubbed his neck, the place where the Kazekage had placed his loyalty seal designed specifically for nin in the special forces on him. It wasn’t unexpected, it was part of the deal for living within Sunagakure with his fathers bloodline. The seal was troublesome however, compelling Ibuki to tell the Kazekage the truth about everything. That was something that he needed to fix on this mission.
The rain kept pouring as Ibuki reached the gate and jumped under the shelter, spraying the Chuunin guards with water as the through back his cloak hood and showed his face and copy of the mission scrolls to the guards. Finally, with that taken care of, Ibuki sat back and waiting for his partner to arrive.

| Isamu woke up in his empty house in the resedential area of Sunagakure no Sato, pulling himself hastily out of bed, making the bed, cleaning his teeth, changing into the same ninja gear he wore everyday, and washed everynight, lying it out for the next day. He walked down the stairs, his mind elsewhere, as he trudged into the kitchen and whipped himself up a healthy breakfast, of course. Isamu didn't want to ruin his physique, something he prided himself on. Placing his dishes into the bowl and washing them, before returning back to their original places in the kitchen, Isamu went and put his ninja sandals on. He took the house keys, and locked the door from the inside before shutting it after himself. Everything was done immaculately. Walking out from under the porch, Isamu felt the water droplets smash against his bare head. Of course, he already knew it was raining. He had heard it when he was laying in bed, but had thought nothing more of it. Even though it was rare for it to rain in Sunagakure.
"It's never usually this bad." Isamu thought to himself, looking up into the sky, covered in thick dark grey clouds. The rain trickled down his face, landing between his eyebrows, trickling down the bridge of his nose, over his full lips and finally dripping off of his chin. The rain was making patting sounds against the permeable sand before it was soaked up, turning the usual golden brown terrain into a dusty brown. Isamu started walking towards where his mission was to start, and he found himself having to exert more than usual force to take steps. "This is going to make the travelling part of out mission hard." Isamu thought to himself, prepared himself mentally for the slight physical challenge up ahead. Isamu loved a bit of a challenge, especially in the ninja world. "I never want to be at the same level. I always want to be getting better."
Footprints were spammed all over the village's sandy floor as Isamu walked across it to the meeting point of the mission. He thought he was a little late, which he condemned, so he sped up as he thought about it. He knew his partner for this mission would be waiting for him. He'd never worked with this man before, but he was sure they could be amecable with each other. Isamu turned the corner, and saw a bustle of people trudging around with brightly coloured umbrella's. A lot of Sunagakure was happy to see the rain, seeing as it was such a rare occasion. Some of the children were even playing in it, splashing in the puddles which were building up, and throwing sand at each other, much to the disapproval of their mothers, judging by the scowls on their faces. But Isamu saw past these things to the man sat on a bench under shelter several feet further down the road, close to the village exit Iwa-side. He had a mission scroll held limply in one of his hands. Isamu ran down the road, leaping into the air and landing on the bench beside him. Holding out his hand sideways to what he doubted would be the shocked male shinobi, Isamu said: "My name is Senju, Isamu. I will be your patner for this mission." Considering the scroll in his hand, Isamu assumed he already knew their objective. |

| Ibuki sighed in relief as he felt his partners chakra slow down and head towards him, easily twenty meters before he landed. The benefits of these eyes, the Demon Hound, were quite good when it came to sensing chakra, but in about five minutes he would have a headache from the sheer amount of people in this area, playing in the rain, screaming, and just in general being there. Given all the distractions, it was quite hard for Ibuki to shut down that part of his senses through meditation, which is what he was trying to do when his partner arrived. Looking up and opening his eyes, revealing their pitch black color, Ibuki nodded at the Jounins introduction and stood up, shaking the cloak quickly to remove the rain droplets that were still there. Luckily he had dressed warm enough to counter act the feeling of the cold rain and his hands and any that managed to see through the cloak.
It was crappy weather, the cold rain and the warm blowing wind was enough to send anyone weather sensitive into a frenzy. The sudden storm hitting seemingly without warning was enough to knock them out for a few hours due to heads feeling like they spontaneously combusted. All in all, it was a very crappy day indeed.
”Shitsumei Ibuki, at your service,” Ibuki said, pulling the hood off his head and letting it sag due to water weight against his back. Hopefully the storm would stop the closer they got to Iwa, but Ibuki wasn’t so sure as the clouds seemed to extend outwards in every direction. Cracking his neck, Ibuki forgot about trying to hide the loyalty seal the Kazekage had put on him and stretched his neck the opposite direction, showing it to anyone close enough to see it. It was a small circle, but large enough to not seem natural. Finishing with the cracking, Ibuki nodded to Isamu and stepped out of the gates, onto the rock finished road travelers used to go between any other village and Suna. If he remembered correctly, there was at least a mile or so before the road split, one road heading to River, one to Bird, and the other to Iwa. It was quite a long distance from there, but as both members on this mission were Jounin, it shouldn’t be that bad, as they both had more than enough stamina to continue throughout the night.
Yawning as his eyes scouted out the road ahead of them, his sight diminished drastically by the rain and dark clouds, Ibuki turned to Isamu.
” So, what are the odds that anyone managed to survive such a cataclysmic event? I mean, Jounin or not the sheer amount of damage done, rocks that could have fallen, and other factors like weather would make it seem like no one survived at all.”

| ”Shitsumei Ibuki, at your service,” his partner said, introducing himself, just as Isamu had done so before. Isamu noted that Ibuki had jet black eyes, as he looked up at Isamu through his eyelashes. The pair stepped out of the village gates, and stopped on a rock outside, as Ibuki turned to Isamu and spoke again. After letting out a wide yawn, he said; ”So, what are the odds that anyone managed to survive such a cataclysmic event? I mean, Jounin or not the sheer amount of damage done, rocks that could have fallen, and other factors like weather would make it seem like no one survived at all.” Isamu took note of the slightly pessimistic attitude he possessed. His feet placed firmly on the rock, Isamu threw his face to the sky, and contemplated the question Ibuki had asked him. The cold wind whipped against his nose, making it hard to think. But he came up with an answer, which he could be proud of voicing.
"I don't care if there's only one man alive, shinobi or civilian, women or child, I will run to Iwagakure no Sato to save my fellow human. I hope you can respect that." Waiting a few moments to allow his words to sink in, Isamu jumped off of the rock and landed firmly of the ground. He took note of the fact his sandals sunk an inch into the wet sand. "This is going to be slightly troubling, if we don't get a move on. At least when we get to the rocky terrain of the Land of Earth, the rain will not corrode and dampen the impermeable rocks." Isamu wasted no time, and started running on the direction of the Land of Earth, expecting his partner Ibuki to follow. It felt good to run, the cold wind whipping against him, and keeping him cool as he worked up what would be a sweat running. The rain seeped in to his pores, allowing his skin to drink and breathe. His feet were pouding into the wet brown sand as he ran, making squelching sounds as slowly his foot sank deeper and deeper with every step, having to use more and more force. Shouting to Ibuki as he ran, he titled his head so the sound would travel to his partner's eyes, dispite the harsh winds. "We'll take our next break when we reach the fork in the road!" visualising the fork in his mind, Isamu pumped his legs forwards and ran even faster. |
