| The following exam is designed to test the ability of Nin to react quickly, think on the feet and hold their nerve on entering the unknown.
Summary
It takes place over a gently flowing river. Stretched across it are a number of stepping stones some 4 ft in diameter floating two foot above the waters surface. All the participants must do is get across using the stepping stones. This test couldn’t be more simple if it weren’t for the fact every stone on the course has a proximity sensitive seal on it which when activated have varied and often highly troublesome results. Genin must prove they have abilities and sense of mind to handle an unknown threat and react quickly to changing circumstances. While you are always encouraged to fight on your own terms there will be times when this not possible, this test replicates an environment beyond your control. You must adapt and press on or fail. Participants are highly advised to treat every rock with a great deal of suspicion.
Rules and what the examiners will be looking for
Rule (1): Participants must use at least 3 stones to cross the gap, one stone from the first 3, one from the second 3 and one from the last 3 Rule (2): Even if you fall off you are encouraged to continue Rule (3): You may not use the tree/water walking techniques during this exam Rule (4): You must meet the minimum 250 word count requirement for all posts
Failing to reach the other side or falling in the water will not necessarily mean you will fail the task, since victory is not always assured but will factor into decisions. Examiners will be considering how you dealt with the hazards and your reactions to them
How will this will work
In the tournament forum every participant will find a specific thread for them, and a copy of the following picture:
All you need to do is stipulate before hand which stones you intend to make use of an rp as you would do normally. As you hit each stone you should stop and allow one of the exam proctors to post the affects. This should be done three times or until you are incapacitated. You ability to handle and react to the changing situation will be marked by the proctors who will then pass or fail you accordingly citing their reasons. You may appeal their decision to an admin but you should present a solid and reasonable argument for it.
Designated Threads and Posting Sequence
All candidates have designated threads to post in (look for the thread name after your character). You should post in this and only this thread. At the start of your first post please designate the stones you intend to try. You may only attempt to cross on these specific stones.
Candidates then will post as if preparing to jump the stones. They may either opt to test/study it (this may or may not reveal something about the stone) or leap onto it.
At this point the designated proctor will describe the affects based on your post.
This cycle of posting will repeat itself until candidates complete all 3 stones. There will be a set time limit to deal with each stone. If you get stuck or the time limit expires you will be allowed to move on to the next stone. Good Luck
