| BEEP BEEP rang his persistent alarm clock. BEEP BEEP, the alarm rang again... Slowly, but steadily Temi’s lifeless body started to move. First his legs, then his head and finally his arms, which he used to halt the irritating, noise. Temi sat up and as if he was in a trance, just sat there. It felt like the entire shinobi world had just been dumped on him.
30 minutes later he was still sat there, just thinking. A wide variety of thoughts passed through his mind like a racing kunai; what if I fail? What if I am injured? What if I die? Suddenly, a voice like no other pierced Temi’s fragile ear drums, “Temi, Temi! Wake up today is the day, the Chuunin exams!” It was in fact Temi’s excited father, who was now on his way through the big winding house to Temi’s living quarters... Temi had always known his Dad as a tough, solid shinobi who punished his enemies, however the words his father was about to utter solidly shocked him, “calm yourself and do well in the exams, remember no matter what happens you’re my son and an Asakura, remember that!” Temi’s eyes lit up like the light of one-thousand candles. He now had the confidence to succeed! When he arrived in the mysterious hidden-village again, he breathed in a deep, calm breath. And he felt even better. However Temi knew he had no time to rest and after grabbing a steaming hot ramen from the local restaurant, he made his way to the location of a well known hotel. When he finished his brief journey and arrived at the magnificent hotel, he braced up to look respectable and slowly walked in. After a long, tedious and boring conversation with the receptionist Temi took his shiny keys and quickly headed up to his room.
After unpacking Temi took a shower and got dressed. He wore a cotton vest under a specially made white, 1.5 centimetre thick rubber protective vest; it was specially made to let air into his body. Then as the final layer on his torso, he wore a white flak vest that was again specially made to adapt to different climates. As for his bottoms, he styled protective long johns under red jogger type trousers. He finally slipped on his red sandals and slowly proceeding to his weaponry.
En route to his vast weaponry, Temi stopped and looked at himself in the small mirror. He looked just like his father did in a picture at the Asakura household, Temi was filled with pride and courage, and a tear even came to his eye. However, he knew he had to finish up and get down to the location of the Chuunin Exams. Turning to his right, Temi first picked up his Twin Asakura Blades, after attaching one to each of his sides he picked up a leg weaponry holster and attached it to his right leg. He knew that he could pack light due to his clan weaponry jutsu so, placed a kunai in one of the holster’s pockets and two shuriken in the other. He then attached his ninja pouch to the back of his trousers. The pouch contained 10 exploding notes and 4ft of ninja wire. Temi now knew he was ready.
As he set off from Sunagakure two days before, he arrived in Kirigakure just before midnight on the day before the exams. He knew he’d need his sleep and so he ordered a light meal and dined before going to sleep...
PAT PAT PAT PAT PAT, Temi’s feet hit the floor rapidly as he made his way to a mysterious river bank, the location of the exams. After arriving he listened attentively to the explanation of the rules and summary of what the task at hand was. He then smiled, for this type of task played right into his strategic hands. He sat on the floor in a position similar to a meditation form, and after around five minutes, he had a plan.
First Temi, would cut around 1ft worth of ninja wire, he then took out his only kunai and tied the ninja wire around the ring at the end of the kunai. He tied several knots to stop the chance of the bonds becoming undone.
After, Temi used Bunshin no Jutsu, and created a clone that looked exactly like him, he then swung the kunai on wire down towards the stone labelled stone three, he did it in such a way that the kunai would hit the stone directly with a substantial amount of force. Following this Temi would reel the kunai back in and use Shunsin no Jutsu, to move away from the direct view of the river bank, but in such a place that he could observe the whole river and the river bank.
Temi then waited, he knew using chakra this early in the game was risky, but then again participating was risky.

| The proctor watched the young Nin intently from the water. He had carefully positioned himself with a clear view of the river, its surroundings and most importantly the participant. If this genin thought he could cheat on his watch he had another thing coming. The Kazekage had made clear that any violation of protocol was not to be tolerated, that to take the easy route would only destroy the lessen this task taught.
The young nin appeared to be taking his time but there was nothing wrong with that. Preparation was a key skill for any would chuunin and just because you were faced with the unknown you should not relaxed your guard. In truth you should be all the more vigilent and wary. The proctor almost smiled when he saw the Nin break out his Kunai and attached the string but was careful not to lit his stony expression slip
He didn't need to wait long to find out which stone he was going for. Stone 3 was not as flashy as some but the proctor personally considered it one of the hardest. It tested a quality all nin should have, but many nin sadly rarely bother with. Those who were too reckless or brave rarely bested it. Now only time would tell if this young genin would succeed or fail
The Kunai flew throw the air and hit the stone with a resounding thunk and then .... did nothing. Not a thing, no explosions, no flaming death pit, just sat there looking rather lost and bored embedded some half an inch into the surface point first. This change when the young nin started to reel it back only to find the wire tighten, the pressure intensify and the kunai unmoved. A barely noticable flicker of chakra permeated the stone and with every tug the kunai ever embedded ever deeper. It was abundant clear that the kunai in question was going nowhere like so many reckless foolhardy nin before it. The proctor wandered what Temi would do next to get past the old no 3. |

| His eyes conveyed his expression better than any other part of his body; it was as if his pupils were dilated. He had planned it all, from start to finish, what was meant to happen kept playing back in his confused head, over and over again, like a broken cassette player. However what did happen shocked him and every bone in his body, not even Temi’s closest friends and family would have seen such a surprised expression on his face before. He was quick to disperse with his clone, for in his eyes it had no current use.
Temi realized that the more force pulled, meant the further embedded the kunai would become. He also noticed a blue type flicker coming from the troublesome rock every time he pulled. “I see, now. Being a Chuunin is much harder than I expected it to be and it’s about overcoming scenarios and adapting to them,” he slowly announced under his breath. “Well then, adapt I shall!”
He pulled the Kunai one more time, with all his force. The aim of the action was to observe what happened again, and like a charm the kunai went in deeper and yet again chakra was emitted by the stone. Temi though, so when I pull it pushes, so what if I push? He pondered constantly, so it’s a relatively medium sized rock, so eventually, it will get so deep that it goes straight threw the rock, meaning if I pulled it a lot that might work.
Temi came up with plenty of plans, from focusing chakra into the stone, to making a kunai type surface on the top to walk on. But he had decided what he would try first; he quickly put two fingers to his forehead and used Kai, to see if anything happened. He knew that it was most likely Genjutsu, but from his observation, he could tell that the stone had more of a defensive mechanism and taking time would be to his own advantage.
In the last moments before his fingers touched his forehead, he took a deep breathe of air in and hoped for the best, for Temi had a slight feeling in the pit of his stomach telling him that it was definitely not Genjutsu. However Temi always has a plan and he would prove to the proctor and all his comrades that he was worthy to become a Chuunin. Although, Temi hadn’t even located his proctor yet, all his focus was on conquering the stubborn stone.
- Spoiler:
Name: Kai - Release Rank: D Type: Ninjutsu Element: N/A Description: Kai is a Ninjutsu technique which allows the ninja to avoid the effects of a Genjutsu illusion. | The Proctor smiled wryly at the Genin as he pulled on the wire one last time only for the stone to grip it ever more tightly. If the lad was setting himself up for a contest of wills then he would break long before Old No 3. Some were stubborn as stone, but old No 3 was just plain stubborn stone and all the more truculent. Its seal, old and grumpy, was not one to tussle with. The proctor hoped the boy found a new strategy or he would be going nowhere fast.
He saw him deep in thought for moment before preparing a handsign that was all too familiar to the seasoned nin. So he thought it might be a genjutsu, a reasonable guess given the circumstances. He might have tried something similar had their roles had been reversed but ultimately the guess was not the right one. The dagger remained embedded, the river still flowed quietly and the wind still whistle through the trees on the waters edge, the Kai had failed.
Old No3 was no genjutsu, perhaps not surprising given the stones owner. They were usually kept in the suna, one of the kages many sealed artefacts and of course the Kazekage preferred more flashy genjutsu on the whole. The stone was an altogether different challenge, incredibly simple in design but all the more problematic. You need to be calm and patient with it, if you are too pig headed all you did was bring the worst out of it. Of course the genin would not know so it was all the more ironic he was a about learn something quite unintentionally. In attempting to kai the stone he had stopped his struggles with the stone and the wire had gone from taught to slack as result. Left unpressurised for a period the dagger did rose a fraction, then rose again as if very slowly the rock had forgotten it was there. There question was, had the genin noticed if not things were going to go from bad to worse before too long |

| Temi’s eyes slowly opened; they took in a world that looked exactly the same. It was exactly the same. Kai had not worked and the situation was the same. But was it?
His hand had let the ninja wire slacken, however the eager Genin had not realised. He started to observe the rocks again, desperately searching for some type of answer to the stone. His head peeked of the riverside, and saw the Kunai had been realised from the stones stubborn grip. He realised this but didn’t quite know what to think of it yet. So he put his confused head to work.
When I apply pressure the kunai become even further embedded, but when I don’t apply pressure it becomes released? A huge pin dropped, his face easily told what he was thinking. He now understood that this stone wasn’t all about using force. He stared at the stone intently, he would realise what he needed to do or die trying.
After a few moments he had come up with many ideas; however he decided to go with a risky one. Temi attempted to reel up the kunai now that it was free, and then tie the kunai end round the sturdy tree behind him. He then got a hold of the ninja wire and slowly propelled himself towards the rock that imitated quicksand. After Temi used Chakra Blade: Kunai/Shuriken and lightly laid a few kunai flat on the rock. Temi would then attempt to slowly step and the rock and jump to the next one. Even if he started to sink, he could jump before it got him. Thanks to the kunai.
- Spoiler:
Name: Chakra Blade: Kunai/Shuriken Rank: D Type: Ninjutsu Description: Members of the Asakura Clan can use their chakra to create a Kunai or Shuriken completely out of their chakra and it will have exactly the same characteristics and effects as regular metal Kunai and Shuriken. The jutsu doesn't cost the user much chakra but the chakra Shuriken and Kunai disperse after hitting a physical object or when the user withdraws their chakra from the jutsu, if the chakra is withdrawn before the item is thrown, the user gains their chakra back.

| The Procter watched with mild amusement as the genin risked all. A single slip would have sent him hurtling onto the stone or water but he was careful, and his timing was just right. In one fall swoop he was on the rock face, the blade below him taking the seal's grizzled malice and ready to continue on to the next. He didnt have as much time to prepare for the next rock but at least he had conquered old no 3 for now |

| Temi glided through the air gallantly towards the stone labelled stone six, he even cracked a faint smile. Although everything was happening too quickly and he couldn’t quite comprehend what exactly happened.
In the corner of his eyes, he saw his chakra kunai released by the stone as the pressure was gone. He remembered what had happened and he quickly re-absorbed the multiple kunai. Any thing was waiting in store, and he had little time to prepare for the next troublesome stone.
What should I do? What on earth should I do? He panicked; he even twitched on one occasion. However in the nick of time his father’s words echoed in his mind and when thinking about his father he thought about his clan. And in turn, about his special clan weapon, he suddenly drew his twin blades and poised them towards the stone. He did this as he knew they be able to embed themselves into the rock, due to their super sharp nature. He knew that the proximity seal on the rock, would activate, and realised that its effects could be anything.
However Temi was the type of guy to plan ahead and before placing drawing his twin blades, he used the chakra he re-absorbed from the chakra kunai to make a new one and attached an explosive tag to it, he then threw it at the rock before hand. Just in case of course. He knew the kunai would disperse after it hit the rock, however Temi hoped the explosive tag would stay close or on the rock. After he poised the twin blade for the rock, hoping they'd embed into it.

| The genin has done well so far using the kunai to test the unknown threats ahead. A real pity he added the explosive tag but it certainly should make things more fun in spite of it. The genin, clearly thinking on his feet, or rather off them given he was in mid flight at this point was hoping to subdue the target and yet again the proctor expected that the target would soon force him to re-evaluate his strategy. Too many young nin put more faith in combat prowess rather then brain power and too often they paid the ultimately price.
This particular challenge was ironically one of the Kazekage's favourites and represented why he was so feared. It wasn't because he was super strong, or super fast but rather incredibly frustrating to fight. How do you fight a man you cant hit after all. This stone in its own way was about to the test this very philosophy and the proctor was looking forward to it. He had seen many challenge the stone before and it was always been remarkable to watch. He had not doubt this prudent young nin would do it justice.
As the kunai close with the stone, the seal upon it triggered and a shimmering dome of chakra revealed itself before condensed and formed into a wave and swept into the one coming kunai. With a rather satisfying 'ping' the kunai quite literally bounced back the way it came from though to its users misfortune the chakra had also unintentionally ignited the tag sending it off with a firework like bang. For moment all that could be seen was a confused genin covered in thick smoke. Moments later though Temi burst through the cloud of ash more or less unscathed if a little charred, also heading directly for the stone and its hidden dome of power. As he too approached it crackled with chakra and another wall of wind surged directly towards him. The Proctor was not sure if it was entirely safe but he wasn't going to interfere, after all it was not every day you got to see a human bouncy ball in action. |

| Temi eyes squinted; a brute, bright force overcame his eyes. It lasted a while but surely it left. Temi started to smile, sadly something wiped the smile right off his face. The tag had been lit, and a firing inferno followed by a smoke cloud came over Temi. He was happy about the fact the explosion didn’t do much harm.
However he early witnessed the kunai being launched by towards the direction it came, Temi pondered, so things are repelled directly back at the location they came from? An extremely wide smile came upon Temi’s face, as he knew exactly what to do.
Temi quickly used the Body Flicker Technique, to align himself on the other side of the wind type whirlpool. He aligned himself perfectly and aimed his two blades right into the whirlpool. He did this so the power of the stone would fire him back towards the stone labelled stone eight.
He also planned to move the twin blades towards the eighth stone after he was been shot towards it, his logic was that he could again embed them. But however, this time only one would be used, the other blade would be used like a kunai and shot towards the stone to test out it’s abilities.

| It was clear from what the genin was doing he had work the trick this stone. Not every obstacle could be challenged directly but those the could not could exploited in other novel ways. It was just a pity his execution was rather sloppy. The lad had shown a lot of talent so far but what he hoped to achieve by shunshin mid air was any ones guess. While a vital aspect of every nin's armoury too many young nin, Temi included believed it could be used to avoid anything when all it was a feat of super accelerated movement. Like movement it was constrained by limits of physics in that one need a something against which to exert the force of ones feet and mid air the lad has nothing to push against. It didn't if he was the fastest man in the world or the slowest unless he take measures to change his environment to meet his requires he was going nowhere fast. That's why the genin blurred only to find his course unaltered and he was sent flying away like a bean bag, somewhat worse for wear but hopefully a little more thoughtful next time. A wind tech might have worked but a tech that increased a users speed was irrelevant when they had no means to apply it. All said he expected the Nin to make a quick recovery and not make the same escape. His next attempt on the stone would surely succeed but for now number 6 was holding. |
