| Subject: Yamato's Ninja Lesson; Increasing Chakra Tue 04 Jan 2011, 5:11 am | |
| Zero Visibility. For some reason during mid-day on a regular day at Kirigakure, the sun's immense heat combined with the ocean's warm ocean currents... yadda yadda yadda... combined and created such a thick and pearly white fog that was so tangible it could be cut with a kunai knife. It was days like this in the Forest of Fog that ninja's avoided this route and took to other ways around it due to the almost unavigatable, confusing, and scary blanket of mist that choked anyone or anything in the forest of oxygen, causing dry drowning in even the smallest of critters or largest of man.
Except Yamato.
Yamato had luckily been extremelley keen in finding his way around the Fog Forest since he had many adventures with his once living older brother, where they often hid from the local authorities after creating small mayhem within the village. A smile spread across his face, a warm feeling in his very core just at the thought of thinking of old times with his brother, but it quickly went away and his emotions were smothered. The knife within also twisted at the thought, so he then focused on his training ahead of him. His movements within the forest became almost automatic, jumping from one branch, hearing the creak and thud of his foot landing and bending the branch, leaves scattering in all directions never to be seen again in the mist, and repeating to the next branch. He finally, after some broken branches, landed spectacularly in a special clearing, with short grass and an open field about 30 x 30 meters, full of no mist. He also heard a rough, continious sound, something that sounded like 'Shhhhhhhhhhhhh', but he paid no attention, quickly making his way to a small tree, finally here.
His arm reached around behind him and unhooked his equipment pouch that rested on the left-side of his waist, and threw it against a tree, which landed at the bass near its roots. He bent down, his black pants coming up to his shins, and rummaged around, not looking but rather feeling for 2 scrolls. They were blue and green, one with the kanji for 'Body', and the blue one with kanji for 'Mind.' His training today wasn't one he wasn't used to, it was just that this time it would be serious and harder than his easy academy days. Now that he had the knowledge of his new-found Suiton techniques and his trump card, the Shintenshin, the technique passed from his deceased brother to him, he needed larger chakra reserves to be able to use all his techniques in tandem and effectivley at the same time.
He usually preferes physical activity training first, but this time he thought he would start with mind excersizes. He let the green designed scroll lie on the floor unopened, and opened his newest blue edition of 'Your Mind & You,' and began to read. Intro - "The mind is a very powerful tools in the right hands. Though most ninja aren't dunderheads and will usually be accompanied by a powerful tool of logic and decisions, it is also possible to strengthen it. By training your mind, you can increase the spiritual part of your chakra, the latter being the physical. Follow these directions precisley and watch the fruits of your training grow!"
He chuckled slightly at the cheesy intro, but then became silent once more as he observed the various techniques used to strengthen the mind, and ultimatley his chakra reserves as well. Keeping one eye on the scroll as a guide, he sat down with both legs crossed on the ground, and read one of the examples. "Now that you actually read past the intro, you can begin your actual training. These next few steps will require you to concentrate on your chakra flow for nearly ridiculously amounts of time, tiring your brain tremendously. Similiar to running, you need to condition your brain to handle fatigue, stress, and other debilitating factors. Focus your chakra and be able to control it more efficiently, changing the concentration from high to low, to your feet to your hands. Continue this process for 3 hours, sitting down, using the 'Ram' handseal in the illustration below. After this, follow the 3 hour Physical training in the following scroll you were smart enough to buy... right?"
Ridiculous... thought Yamato in his mind. He had done this in the academy as well, but 3 hours? That was 2 academy classes straight of concentration. He only had the attention span of 10 minutes, which was when they were told new jutsu to learn. He sighed, rolled up the scroll, and tossed it near his pouch, forming the ram handseal. Now that he thought about it, it was sort of peaceful. Sitting there in the only pouch of forest devoid of mist, hearing the various animals chatter and the soft Shhhhhhhhh sound in the distance he still hadn't figured out. He could feel the very chakra within him move within his body, left, right, up down. He kept careful to stay extremley still, almost believing that if he moved, he wouldn't be able to feel his chakra in the same way as he did today. It was unusual, it was like a powerful presence within him, but, it was him. He sent the presence to his feet, and he felt his feet empowered by his chakra, then his hands, causing his chakra to spike slightly as that was where he was forming the ram seal. He was one with nature, just him, his chakra, and his surroundings. His eyes were closed, in this meditative stance, but he also was starting to feel the effects of focusing his chakra tihs much. His chakra control started to become sloppy, and his internal timer mentioned it had only become an hour. It became almost a pattern, when his control went under 'above average,' he would re-shape it and maintain control of it. However at the 2 hour mark, he felt the fatigue pull at his brain like a crow bar. Normal humans couldn't experience this feeling, buts almost like muscles that are flexed begging to be freed, or when your holding your breath, your lungs pleading to breathe. Unusual forces pulled at his mind begging him to drop his high focus on his chakra, which began to decline but suddenly spiked again, as Yamato focused harder, a trickle of sweat sliding down his face and onto his chin, another forming, trickling down but only reaching his left cheek. This was difficult indeed, he no longer enjoyed the feeling, but on the same note he hadn't been this in touch with his chakra... well... ever. The chakra felt like another being, yet it was him. Strange. Finally the 3 hour mark ticked in his head, and Yamato immediatley dropped his meditative pose, his hands dropping down, and a cool feeling rushed to his head; relief. His chakra levels dropped slightly lower than he began as well, he supposed it was since his mind was so tired, it couldn't his maximum chakra, and so dropped some.
The funny part was, the physical training was just begining. His mind would also suffer as well, as he was mentally tired, but he stood strong. Breaking out the green scroll, he skimmed through it, not wanting to fully read. He needed to run an hour straight, do situps, pushups, and squats an hour straight, and finally the tree walking excersize for an hour. Good thing he got here early, at 7. Just great. The running was probaly the worst of it. Since one lap outside the area was about a mile, and he could run a mile in 4 minutes due to his superior physique as a ninja, he ran a total of 15 miles, the whole time his muscles ached and seemingly pulled themselves, Yamato devoid of thought in his punishment. After his mind and his legs took a rough beating in the previous hours, he quickly got down on his knees, and then in push up position, sadly. Doing slow, but quick-paced pushups for an hour. His original pace took him at 50 pushups a minute, but this training soon changed him. The pushups went into the hundreds, and if anything, his arms were SCREAMING to stop. Even as a physically fit ninja, this was homicide, with the damned scroll as his killer. The agony ended in 20 minutes however, as he needed to split up the time. Situps soon came into play, and his abs were raring to go, but soon backed down as well. At 80 crunches in 5 minutes, Yamato did nearly 300, reaching a perfecc 320 before he stopped. At this point, Yamato was a pile of bruises and torn muscles, but there was litteraly no time to rest as the explicit instructions excluded rest from its contents. Lastly was the tree walking excersize, and he could see why. With his whole body physically tired, his chakra reserves lower, and the power to focus also diminishing by the mental AND physical activities, using his chakra and his leg muscles to pull him vertically up an unstable surface against the force of gravity forces better control over chakra and his body, better coordination, and pushes the body to give more chakra, lest he fall and break his neck that was. He began his final hour of torture. He took a big sigh and attempted to look in the sky, but saw the fog still clinged to the sky however, sort of like his chakra enchancing ambition. "I can do this... It's the only way I can become stronger and prove myself.. to him.." whispered Yamato to himself, referring himself to his brother. He quickly formed the ram seal, focused his chakra to his feet, and sprinted forward, planted one foot on the tree, and dashed upwards. He took maybe 15 steps as he sprinted upwards, until his mind almost forced him to stop, causing his chakra to crunch the wood, and he leaped backwards off the tall tree in a black flip, simultaneously marking his position with a kunai and landing on his feet. "Ow..." he muttered as the first try left him even more tired. Just one hour...
And one hour indeed it was. Many more tick marks could be found on the tree, but Yamato was nowhere to be found. The one hour mark had ended, and the scroll granted 10 minutes of rest before giving the option of continuing to maximise the effect. Yamato sat, at the very top of the tree. Ontop of the fog, he overlooked the rest of the fog forest, complete with his training. It was like viewing clouds, and his tree punctured the sky. He could see Kirigakure in the distance, and smiled. He was almost done. Through it all, he figured out what the strange sound was, and after safely climbing down the tree, he ventured into the forest, discovering its presence.
A waterfall lay maybe a mile beyond the little clearing. Its waters rushed down into the river below, which was surrounded by rock. By mere coincidence, the scrolls told of doing another excersize, with this set making 2 total Mind/Body excersizes. However unsusually, the excersizes were combined. 3 hours, of sitting, coincidentally, under a waterfall, but being forced to both focus and expend the user's chakra, as sitting on a rock wasn't permitted; the user had to use the water walking excersize, but as if that wasn't enough, the user had to sit on the water, walking on water difficult enough, but sitting on it requiring sending chakra to an uncomfortable area. Now, if didn't know what torture was, NOBODY DID! Ignoring the fact this was a mere 10 minutes, maybe 15 after his original training regiment, his body and mind absolutley phrohibited him from preforming this act of suicide, but his will dragged his body and mind along for the joy ride. Sitting there, with a huge waterfall attempting to crush his head, while concentrating and focusing chakra to his ass to balance on water, as his already weakened chakra reserves were being depleted, for 2 HOURS. Yamato at this point was sure the training would pay off, because if it didn't, he was gonna personally assissnate the creator of the scrolls into a hell full of his excersizes. After the 3rd hour mark, Yamato, sensing the danger, quickly used his last dregs of chakra to jump out of the water, as his shoulder skidded the flat rock surface surrounding the river, and instantly passed out.
As he woke up the next morning, he was glad to find the memories of his brutal goals were slowly fading, overwhelmed by his relaxed muscles and his replenished chakra reserves. He was shocked to find something however. Not only were his muscles expanded alot more than usual, but his chakra reserves were... extremley high. Well, for a genin. He smiled and laughed softly, as he looked at his hands, and felt the power within... |
