Drip. Drip. Drip. The small droplets of water would seep from the very core of the water table, rolling through the millions of channels, cracks and pores in the compacted earth; right through the limestone eventually reaching some form of escape, some exit to the common monotony. This would come in the droplets reaching the inside of the cavern of the Stalagmite Fields where like-minded friends of the droplets would gather and pool together. From there, when there was too many droplet friends in the group, the evil force of gravity would pull her foes down and cause them to crash into the surface below - one at a time. These droplets, having traveled through the mineral-rich earth and through the calcium-carbonate rich limestone would always have these two substances enriched in their beings by the time gravity too her toll. As a result, when enough of the droplets collided with the surface; small deposits of these minerals would be left there to pool, form then solidify into the thousands of limestone-rich stalagmites that littered the cavern named the Stalagmite Fields.

The limestone itself, being thick with a colloidal amount of minerals is not a very facilitating substance against other materials; often reflecting it away. This meant that light, sound and smell was not very well absorbed and would travel freely in the confines of the 20meter wide, infinite long and 6meter high cavern. For those who needed to be silent in their travels through the 'fields' would have an extremely difficult time doing so; however if it weren't for the droplets. The sound of the impact of the droplets meant it sounded like a constant shower appeared in the cavern and served to dull the effects of echoes - though not as if it were the open. Echoes still remained, still amplified the surroundings though weren't as prominent if it were inside a tube for instance.

So stood one man, or rather a boy; a teenager of 16years old, wandering solemnly and peacefully through the stalagmite fields was dressed in his usual attire. Black pants, a dark grey shirt and the whites of his hair, belt and wristbands were the predominance of the colors exploited by the teenager. He wore the hitae-ate of the Village Hidden in the Clouds upon his brow and possessed the kit of a genin, for that was what he was. Trained in the abilities of a ninja, he was Robin Kaimen; a peaceful and very intellectual character who always lusted to discover more. And as a result, this is what lead him down into the very unknown area of the stalagmite fields. He had been walking relatively unbothered for the past five minutes, having passed through the heavy wooden door and entrance of the cavern and into its depths: before he heard something. He stopped immediately, waving the lit torch in his left hand to get a better view further down the cavern; the green of his eyes reflecting the flame and piercing deep into the darkness. He knew something, or someone was there and beyond his better judgement made the amateur mistake, "Is anyone there?" he called out, hoping for a friendly or neutral reply and taking the situation from there.

With the Academy trained skill, Hotaka launched a single kunai towards what he could deem was the source of the voice, letting out a playful, trickster-like laugh just loud enough to start a subtle echo to hide his place among the forest of stalagmites growing amongst the cavern. Using both his natural and Yonbi given agile and acrobatic movements he danced his way over to a new area of the cavern, perching himself with expert balance on a small ledge of the cavern wall. ”Ya know… it is unwise to call out when you don’t know who.. or what could be answer” Hotaka teased playfully, his voice echoing off the walls of the cavern, mixing with the lingering bounces of his laugh from mere moments before.

Hotaka hid amongst the shadow he moved quickly to a new ledge, admiring for a moment the flickering shadows the torch light gave as it basked itself among the slick edges of rock, which simultaneously allowed him to stay hidden fairly well, especially because he made sure to keep the reflective metal of his forehead protector hidden always facing the shadows or the dark cavern walls so it wouldn’t reflect the torch light. He kept his eyes trained on the stranger who seemed rather lost within the caverns Hotaka oft explored with no such light, waiting to see if he would have the senses needed to dodge the kunai that was aimed for the back of his head. Certainly hoping that the dark skinned stranger would at least hear the low whistling the Kunai made as it flew through the cavern air, even if it echoed slightly, which Hotaka knew would make it's origin and intended path difficult to predict. After all, it would be rather awkward to have accidentally killed someone he didnt even know in such a ... not so harmless prank.

”And a torch? ” Hotaka let out a dark laugh, ”You’re just asking for something to come out and eat you now aren’t you? After all, you never know what could be attracted to the light.” A grin crossed Hotaka’s face as he hid among the shadows, perhaps his joke would be too mean, but he would absolutely delight in having the stranger be scared shitless before Hotaka would pop out and let the joke end, revealing who he was. Some might see it as a sick joke, but after seeing some of the pranks Hotaka had experienced in the Monastery where he was raised, this was nothing. He seemed to recall one time when as a young child, he hadn’t slept for several nights because some of the older children had convinced him that a demon lived out his window and would come in to eat him if his eyes closed even for a second.

”I always prefer to explore without a torch..” Hotaka stated, as he moved again through the shadow, his voice trailing and bouncing off the cavern walls as he did, ”I always find it more mysterious that way. ” As he remained hidden waiting to see what the other male would do, the young Jinchuuriki was careful to remain among the shadows so he would not e revealed, hiding behind stalagmites if he could not find a ledge to perch himself upon. ”They say there is a dragon and his treasure hidden within these caves somewhere…the great secret of the caves I was told... do you think it’s real? Do you think we could find an ancient beast resting on beds of treasure?” The genin asked as he moved, letting his darker nature drop and his curious side shine through.
