Name: High IQ Rank: C Type: Mental Based Physical Requirements: N/A Training Requirements: A 600 word training post is required to gain this special characteristic. Description: The ninja innately possesses a high IQ which gives them great practical and analytical prowess. They have vast knowledge in nearly all forms of combat giving them a upper hand when faced with nearly any attack with being able to execute split second counters. With their high IQ the user can determine weak spots in attacks and defenses and can overcome nearly any obstacle. Like the obvious benefits of being very smart, the ninja is well regarded for their great mathematical and thinking abilities. The human mind is something awe in; an intricate beast that allies man with greatness among anyone among the animal kingdom. Man had never been equipped with the sharp fangs and claws like the lion, the beaks of a bird or the massive strength of the gorilla. This has been argued countlessly as to whether man is the dominant species among this world seeing these primal advantages that makes beast formidable. There are those who argue that this is not the case. Beast had the natural attributes but Man has always achieved higher than such primal ways. Man has always seen themselves higher than this when they began to speak, to voice themselves, to conjure the ideas that would shape history and perhaps that is what makes the mind both powerful and weak.
We can say this for Heiki. Can we classify him as strong? Could we put him in the minor percentile that he reaches above the elite? Perhaps that is the case. Intelligence is a tricky one Heiki always thought. To put intelligence in the form of a written document and perhaps analyze it by breaking down each individual intelligence factors is the rational thing of categorizing Heiki’s intelligence. Indeed, he shows great promise when he wishes it and only when he thought it was necessary. You see, Heiki has a tendency to be lazy. He was a sloth at times, lethargic when he didn’t think it was necessary. By this undermining component, both friends and foes never seem to know whether he was smart or slow. He didn’t want to show it and he rather remain the way he was rather than achieve something greater.
But what makes him far intelligent than most of his colleagues would be the undying fact that he is curious. The saying that curiosity killed the cat never really hit home to Heiki. He was always curious, always searching for something that ordinary people didn’t look to and why things worked when even logic tries to give him reasonable explaining towards it. It was this factor that made Heiki quite formidable, among his friends and his enemies.
We take a look back to the past. Heiki was eight years old at the time when this particular event occurred. He was sitting down on the porch swinging his legs back and forth as they hung off sitting there in the evening watching the sun set. His father walks from behind and rubs in Heiki’s hair which makes Heiki smile and grab his father’s hand. Seishin was a brutal man in the battle field and towards his son as he trained him but a man who was beyond the kindness of even the softest sage. He understood that his son had the hidden potential. He always tested him on the battle field, watching his movements, seeing what he would do next and sees if he would aim for the weaknesses of himself. He watched his son progress even as he trained his son.
But the battle field is one side of Heiki’s mind. There was always multiple layers to people like Heiki, hiding away but will slowly peel off as time goes on. It depended on Heiki as to how fast he wishes to peel off the layer. Seishin sat down next him “Heiki, have you ever heard of this riddle? I am everywhere and somewhere, hiding in front of you and choose not to be seen. I’m hot and cold. Without me, you are nothing. Without you, I am meaningless” he leans his head back “I was curious as to what that riddle meant when I was a kid. As a kid, it was just words that held no meaning; it was water that was not satisfying to the mind. I didn’t figure it out till I was a lot older. What do you think it means Heiki?”
Heiki placed a thoughtful hand on his chin and leaned forward watching the sun disappear over the horizon. He closed his eyes envisioning how the sun was going away for awhile, perhaps to sleep. Maybe it never sleeps but just takes breaks like him and will come back in a few hours. He turned to his father “It’s air pop” Heiki said
“Oh? And what makes you say that?”
“Well-“ Heiki was choosing his words carefully, fitting the pieces together to create the sentence that allows man to form ideas and ideally what we may call logical deduction “You said that it is everywhere. Air is everywhere right? It’s somewhere too so wouldn’t that mean it could be in places that people just haven’t check to look? It’s hot and cold. When the summer wind blows past, it gets pretty intense and vice versa with the cold. I need it to live because I breathe it in and I would die without it. If we didn’t exist, or plants or animals or stuff like that then it is-well pointless I guess” He turned his head away.
Seishin was surprised how he found that answer as quick as he did. Utterly surprised is an exaggeration but surprised nonetheless. A caring smile fell on his face and his rubbed his sons head again. Heiki smiled “Sometimes I think it would be cool to be wind. It’s so free and open, just moving. It can be form it wants to be”
“Within reason son” Seishin corrected.
Heiki nodded “Mhm, within reason of course. It’s a gas. Ya know, free moving and what not. Particles moving around in that mini space. It’ll still be cool, I think. Like, dancing in water only you’re not in water. Seems cool, ya know?”
Seishin looked to his son “How come you aren’t doing the schoolwork the academy gives you? You’re too smart to be doing poorly”
“Poorly? I’m not doing poorly.” Seishin heard the defense in Heiki’s voice but it was not outward out of fear
“Then why did I get a note saying that you are being lazy around class and not doing the proper work your teacher instructs you to do?”
Heiki didn’t show any alarm, only that same dreamy face that he had on. The words that came out Heiki’s mouth didn’t sound like the typical Heiki Seishin knew rather an older Heiki, a much older Heiki yet he had that young child voice. “If someone told you to do this and yet you think your method is better. Hm, not better but let’s say more efficient yet I’m getting a lower score because of said opposing method, is it wrong of me? Should I follow that person because he said it so or rather go my own way?
“I remember someone told me this once, how there are leaders and there are followers. Followers do not question the actions of those leading them. They follow blindly because they don’t want to think for themselves. If they have someone else to think for them then there is no need to use the mind. Leaders, true leaders, don’t let sheep follow them but rather make people think for themselves. Leaders are mentors, ya know, in a sense that they will give those that follow them guidance so that in the future those followers can be leaders too.” Heiki pulled his legs in and hugged them close to his chest
“Did you hear that from someone or did you make that up on your own?”
Heiki had his face in his arms to hide the smile he had on his face “I don’t know. Maybe I read it somewhere. Sounds pretty cool huh?”
“Aye” his father said agreed. And that was all they both said at that time. Seishin didn’t question his son’s methods nor did he even talk about what he was doing at the academy. He was just a boy he thought and that was all right. It was not him tha needed guidance but rather those around him and even himself. Both Heiki and Seishin watched the starry sky together silently
