Name: Quick Speed Rank: B Type: Physical Physical Requirements: Must Specialize in Weaponry or Taijutsu. Training Requirements: A 1200 word training post is required to gain this special characteristic. Description: The second level in the art of speed accessible to those who have undergone intense training in high speed movement. The possessor of this talent has an increased speed of 40% which makes them considerably faster. Their movements become so fast and vivid that the ninja can create afterimages in motion. They're body is seen as a blur as they move swiftly and almost unmatchable to the human eye.
“Heiki, don’t try to lean too much one side” Seishin said. “The last thing we want you to do is have too strong of one side than the other. The entire premise of this is to make sure your body is able to cope with this weight. Your body will then adapt to it-“
“Dad, I get-” Heiki gasped out of breath. The rope tightens around his waist and it took the breath right out of him. It was hard to move this large boulder and move at a mild pace up this hill. It was very hard to speak at the moment and seeing that talking involved breathing, he was sure that was what his father intended it to be. He was surprised he was able to get that few of words out of it. If he was going to get scolded for talking, he would at least have a point of saying that he understood what he meant. No, he wasn’t going to get scolded. He hoped not, he couldn’t feel his-well, his everything at this very moment. Not like he could feel anything before, he was built not to feel a thing but if he could describe it in some type of painful sensation, he would just say it was numbing. Numbing? It was the only word that he could possibly muster at this time. What other words were there? Mind-numbing? Needle poking? The feeling of demons tap dancing on his muscles and then have another go doing a ridiculous shuffle called the layman line? Regardless if he couldn’t feel the pain, his body usually told him two things and it was either you are moving or you are not moving. If his muscles didn’t respond whenever his nerves tried to signal in, that’s when it was working. Oh joy, Heiki could see is father doing this since it was one of those days where it was quite frankly just one of those doggone days.
Seishin sat on the back of the boulder that Heiki was dragging up the large hill. He adjusted his reading glasses and turned the page in this new novel that he was reading. It was a wonderful read he thought, good to take outdoors and sit down somewhere just to read it. His idea of a good, relaxing time however was watching his son suffer through knit gritting. See, unlike most fathers who train their children, they usually have some leeway. Not much if the father had a son they would try to at least go by their standards but again, that boy is still a child and needs to have some backing off. Seishin wasn’t that type of father. It didn’t matter if Heiki was nine, twelve, fifteen or in his thirties, he will learn what is necessary. It is the passage of the Kurayami and it is written in blood to surpass the masters of the past. He wasn’t a bad father. No, he loves his son deeply and only wishes him for something better than his own attempts in life. He didn’t wish for Heiki to become someone like him who just let life flow off the edges of his fingers. He wished for him to be stronger.
Heiki was moving along at a moderate pace. He was surprised himself that his body didn’t shut down on him for the mere fact that it was getting exhausted. Oh, this was getting better and better. He was hoping that maybe he could successfully get up this hill.
“Oi” Seishin said, suddenly “Stop for a second. I need to do something” Heiki obeyed his father. He was breathing heavily keeping his back straight just like his father had told him plenty of times in that past. “Don’t bend over, the airways needs a clear passageway.” His father’s words never seem to leave him even as he gotten older. Seishin jumps from the boulder up onto a tree. His head turns and his hand was over his brow. Heiki could see that he was looking for something. Oh he had a vague idea what he was looking for. Whenever his father was looking for something, it was either something that looks menacing to carrying or to hold onto with his bare hands that’ll make small lacerations on his hands. “Mom will kill me if he makes me carry something that was ridiculously sharp” Which was odd and confusing to him. Wouldn’t she be mad at Dad since he was told by him to carry something sharp? It passed into his reasoning but then thought better of it knowing the outcome was not in his favor.
His father had jumped from tree to tree but returned back only moments later. Heiki saw another large chunk of rock that was roughly the same size as the boulder he was dragging. Yes, yes God exist and he when he created him he put that one drop of sadism in which would spawn forth eternal pain for him. Thank you God Heiki said to himself in the most eye rolling way possible.
Heiki already knew the drill. This wasn’t the first and it definitely will not be the last time he’ll have to drag up large rocks up these damnable hills. He took the rope off his waist. He could feel the pressure just slide off him as the rope fell to the ground. It made a large thumping noise, picking up the dust and clots of dirt that rose from the ground. He didn’t mention to anyone how intensive his training goes but he does understand the fact that his father was one of craziest fathers in the Kurayami clan. It’s just the way his father just looks so serene as he suffers as if he doesn’t have a care in the world.
He grabbed another rope out of the backpack he was carrying and proceed into tying the rope to make a loop that was both fitting yet comfortable for him. He’s done it many times before and of course, as he said, it wouldn’t be the last. He took out a hook out and tied the other end of the rope to it. He then slammed it into the large rock. He did a hard tug just to make sure it didn’t pull out. If he did it right, it wouldn’t come out. When it didn’t budge, that’s when he sighed. God, he wished he wasn’t so good with this stuff. He tied both ropes around his waist
“You can start when ready son” Seishin jumped on the top of one of the large rocks and sat down opening up his book to the page where he left off. Heiki struggled first; the hill, gravity and these damns ropes and these damn large rocks were not helping in his favor. They never were. He was always on the low end with bets and gambling. He took one step forward, it dug into the ground. He took another step forward and it did the same thing as the first step. He didn’t think he was going to be able to move this. He tried to take another step but he fell on his face.
He moved his face from the dirt and coughed up some dirt. He spat out what was left on his tongue saying “Son of a bitch but it came out “Some a bif”. This was embarrassing and at the same time ridiculous. He turned his face to the side to see his father who had not moved from said spot. He was still sitting on the boulder, reading calmly He got from the ground, shaking off what he had on his face. Dammit, he was going to move these hell forsaken rocks, if it was the last thing he did-
And of course, it was the last thing he did. It was afternoon when they first started off. It took a mere seven hours to move those boulders up 300 meters. He was surprised himself later on finding he had traveled that far. As Heiki reached the top, he rose his arms in the air letting out a triumphant roar before falling over. His body had gone past its limit and although Heiki didn’t feel it right away, sleep took him over instantly. Seishin smiled. He closed the book he had in hand and placed it in his pocket. He took the ropes off his son and carried his son all the way home. From the looks of it, he won’t be needing dinner anytime soon.
