Shinji was crouched in the middle of the training cave, contemplating his abilities. If he was to become a stronger shinobi, there were things he would have to refine, to perfect. His eyes were closed and his thoughts were al concentrated upon two things, his speed and his crystal release. They were both great, but not yet mastered, he wasn’t the fasted of Genin yet, only slightly above average, but he wanted to be the fastest, and his crystal release could be stronger if he was more efficient at forming the crystals from chakra. Though, that would involve some more chakra molding training, something which he hated.

He opened his eyes slowly and looked around, assessing the cavern to see just how much of a hammering it could take with his training. The cave was solid, worked out and created by Doton Jutsu. He stood up and popped his back into place. First to work on his Shoton, if he could develop his crystals to a new level that most Genin in his clan couldn’t, would give him a great edge against the competition, especially in the Chunnin Exams. He turned 360 degrees looking around the room to find where to start. He saw large wall with uncountable scratches and holes burrowed into it, signs of a wall that was used by many shinobi for practicing jutsu, and that was what Shinji planned to do as well.

He decided upon which jutsu to practice first, his crystal needles, they would do the least amount of damage first and leave the wall stable for later. He held out his palm and formed a one handed hand seal, aiming at the wall with his fingers. ”Shoton: Kessho Hari!” Countless numbers of blue crystal needles spewed forth from Shinjis palm, flying through the air towards the wall. These needles were similar to senbon but were thinner and stronger, flying more quickly and hitting with more accuracy. One after another the needles pierced the wall thirty feet away, just on the edge of their accurate range, but they pierced the wall as easily as if it was soft skin and muscle tissue, sinking deep into the stone and crumbling when Shinji allowed them to, leaving hundreds and hundreds of pin-point holes in the wall to add onto the already numerous scars in the rock. However Shinji saw that several of the needles hadn’t gone in and instead had shattered upon contact, that was evidence that his chakra hadn’t been molded perfectly in that last attack, it was probably the same for most of his crystal jutsus as well…

Frowning and furrowing his brow Shinji shifted into a lower stance, if he could master the molding in this technique and make all of the needles pierce into the stone even deeper than before, then that would give him the feeling he needed to strengthen all of his crystal jutsu. The harder the crystal was and the thinner it was in this situation, the more deadly they would be, which was his goal.

Concentrating even harder Shinji balanced his chakra in his palm, still aiming it at the wall, the chakra needed to be sharper, and stronger. He saw in his mind an image of what he wanted and his chakra molding itself to that goal. The familiar feeling welled up inside him, the feeling of chakra readying itself to fire from his hand, the jutsu was ready, and some gut feeling told Shinji, this time the jutsu would be perfect. Shinji moved in a blur, his hand forming the seal and his entire body moving forward towards the wall to add force to the crystal needles. ”Shoton! Kessho Hari!” Needles much faster and much more numerous than last time fired out from Shinjis’ palm, they were almost a single blur of blue that aimed to carve into the wall as they flew. This time the needles all struck in the same second, leaving not many small holes in the wall, but because of their concentration, several larger holes, each filled with many blue crystals. Not a single needles had fallen short nor been deflected off the wall, the molding of the chakra was perfect, the ratio of Physical and Mental Energy was just right, and as a result the crystal was sharp, thing, and strong. Now that he knew the ratio in his head he could use that with all of his Crystal jutsu, they would be sharper and harder than any that his clan-mates could make.
