Natural Attunement:
Members of this clan are born into the natural world around them and seem to have a greater connection to it. They just feel at home out in the woods or in their environment with the plants and especially the animals that live there. They naturally have a calm, passive demeanor which animals pick-up on as none threatening. Thus, they are able to understand and communicate with animals, such as birds, and are able to request them to help them accomplish tasks, such as acting as scouts or gathering information they have already witnessed.

Natural Alignment:
Shimotsuki Clan members are always aligned to the "good" side. They have and live by free-standing, positive morals.

Natural Talent:
After decades of writing and creating unique seals members of the clan grow up in an environment where they are familiar with fuuinjutsu, sealing technique's. Though they are not required to have fuuinjutsu as a specialty, if they do not wish to pursue this skill then they still have an above normal knowledge of its workings etc. They are also taught a large amount about animal species in general as over the decades members of the clan have researched endlessly about animals.

Genjūshu Seal:

The Genjūshu Seal literally translates as the Mythical Beast Type Seal. When a clan member is born elders of the clan will form a customary ritual where they inscribe this unique seal onto the clansmen's stomach and through the first week of the clansmen's life it will take effect slowly altering the targets DNA and molecular structure. The seal itself is one of the most complex and unique seals known in the ninja world and thus it is heavily protected like that of other hidenjutsu by other clans. The seal itself is complicated in the fact that depending on the person it is placed on the effect that it will have varies. This is due to everyone having a unique body structure, thought process and natural alignment. The Genjūshu Seal is made up of over 800 samples of DNA from different animal species across the world. The original Shimotsuki elders individually sealed these samples into special seals on scrolls to store the information. But as they attained more and more samples the amount of scrolls used became insurmountable.

If there was a way where they could seal all of these samples into a single seal then it would allow their work to be much more efficient. After years of trying the soon to be clan leader a talented fuuinjutsu experted created what is known now as the Genjūshu Seal. The seal itself works as a kind of catalog for the samples allowing for easy storage. However, it was soon realised that if this seal was placed onto a human being the two DNA's, both the human targets and the animal samples would react in a way of fusion or bondage with one other. Interestingly though, as the more knowledge they gained so the seal did also as clan members built apon the seal with their increased fuuinjutsu skills. Acting as a 'Russian Roulette' of sorts, when placed on a human target the seal would work to find a connecting DNA sample that is stored within the seal and the two would react in a chemical way binding with one another. This was figured to only be capable after birth giving the seal enough time to bind with an infants core DNA which is most susceptible from birth. This gave birth to the clans famed bloodline known as Dōbutsukei or Animal System.

Dōbutsukei - Animal System

The name of the Shimotsuki Clan's bloodline ability Dōbutsukei literally translates as Animal System and is the formal name of their ability. With the original members of this clan being true masters of Zoanthropy and Fuuinjutsu this unique bloodline was born. Simply, a clan member can transform into their select animal chosen from the Genjūshu Seal seamlessly and also an animal-human hybrid form at will. This provides three forms: the user's natural form, a fully transformed type, and a hybrid form, combining both original and bloodline-bestowed species into an an unusual form (usually in a bizarre way where the size is greatly exaggerated or distorted). This naturally offers many advantages but also varied such as increased physical, mental and sensory abilities. The forms available are as follows;

Natural Form:
The natural form is exactly how it sounds, the normal human state of the clansmen. Here they have no access to the physical, mental or sensory applications that are granted when in either of their two other forms. However, in their natural form they are granted everything that makes humans the superior species e.g in this state they are still able to mold chakra and form handseals to use ninja technique's.

Hybrid Form:
Example;

The Hybrid form is the most used and expansive of the Shimotsuki's bloodline. During this form clan members can experiment with different tactical advantages by morphing specific areas of their body into their chosen animal system. Thus, this form enhances the physical statistics of the user by combining positive attributes from both the user and the physical-level equivalent of the animal species. In their hybrid form, users experience enhanced senses and animal instinct, as this form uses a combination of both user and animals abilities, though the increase is specific to the animal species abilities in question not just a general increase. For example, if a members chosen animal was a falcon they are would be able to change their legs into talons to strike the enemy, their mouth into a beck or gain the advanced eyesight of a falcon and so forth. But they are limited in this state in the regard to chakra molding and use of chakra. Naturally, if their hands have been morphed then they are unable to utilize handseals, and thus cannot manipulate chakra into a jutsu. But, in the general case of this transformation as the change takes place it is harder and harder for the user to mold chakra. Thus, every technique used in the Hybrid form has a 20% increase in CP costs associated towards it.

Full Tranformation Form:
Example;

As the name suggests this is the form where the user is fully transformed into their animal system. Here they gain the highest level of physical, mental and sensory bonuses that their animal species has to offer them. For a member to enter this form they would be serious as it is the most powerful and infamous form known to the clan. Also, uniquely, members lose some of their cognitive reasoning that they would usually have whilst in their normal or hybrid forms. Here they are fully enveloped with the animal instinct which can be both a blessing and a curse. For example, if their animal system is a carnivorous animal species then naturally they are more violent, unpredictable and the fiercer the combat abilities gained from transforming into it. Also, in this state the user is unable to mold chakra at all. In this form chakra cannot be used, and no handseals created. If they wish to cast a technique then they must morph out into either their hybrid or normal state.

In general skilled users are also capable of using their powers to shape-shift out of harm's way; this is particularly useful, especially when their body has been restrained or trapped in some way. As the skill level of the user increases so will their control over isolated transformations of their Dōbutsukei bloodline allowing for much more tactical advances. In a general case to morph whether it be from form to form or domestically within a single form e.g Hybrid, it takes half of a posts time to do so. A Shimotsuki clan member can only morph into a single animal type and expand and grow within that species. For example, a clan member cannot transform into a great white shark when in water, and then an ant to dodge an attack straight afterwards. The seal will only configure a single animal DNA sample with the users. Thus, the animal and everything which encapsulates it can be chosen and customized by a member (OOC) and you can develop the individual techniques and attributes around your chosen animal.

History:

The History of the Shimotsuki clan is quite vast compared to many other clans. This clan would be considered older than most clans due to its long history. Though not formalized as a clan per-say 120 years ago, the core group that eventually made up the elder contingent of the Shimotsuki clan was there from the beginning. A small group of men and women originating from the Grass Country who all shared a love of Zoanthropy and Fuuinjutsu went and ventured the known shinobi world together. Their shared love meant that they would all benefit from a common cause. As they traveled throughout the world they gathered information on every and all animal species which they came across. Their love of animals was something they all shared to the core of their hearts all wanting to understand more about these fascinating creatures.

So, cataloging their information and research they traveled for nearly 80 years across the world documenting and collecting DNA samples of over 800 animal species. Over this time period they experience many encounters with animals seeing and documenting many new species that were not known to the world at the time. They were also introduced to many new cultures, though their love of animals took precedence. But travelling takes it toll, and many of the originals were dying and their children were taking over. A new generation which were born and lived their entire lives in this 'traveling circus' like situation were now going to take the helm. They decided to go back to their roots, back to the Grass Country. Funnily enough they did not study creatures form their homeland, instead choosing to venture outward first. So, they decided to come back and study what was at home, which actually had one of the most diverse ranges of flora and fauna in the world.

So, for 40 years now the Shimotsuki Clan has resided in Kusagakure and have become much of influential part of the society that governs their. Many of the clan member base has shifted from being researchers of flora and fauna into shinobi. Their Dōbutsukei bloodline soon became valuable in wartime and many of their members were called apon to take arms for their nation. Their unique bloodline offered the nation many tactical and unique advantages that others couldn't imagine possessing. But the skill itself was a mystery and over time the village tried to tamper with the seal for it try and produce a specific animal for an individual. The clan elders protested vigorously to the point of near violence. Though currently the issue has been resolved, many in the clan still feel that it isn't and there is small tension between them and the governing body.
