| Scourge had just done the worst thing possible: killed his only friend. And for that he got kicked out of the only village that at least gave him a temporary home. Aisu desperately wanted to get out, to mourn the loss of his friend, but now was not the time for that. Bane had to take over, and that's what happened. He instantly ran out and headed straight for the exit. The village ninjas were confused, but they soon found out what had happened and gave chase. Bane was sprinting full speed through the forest, and he soon got lost. He settled down and hid against a tree. He had no idea where they were, but they seemed to be everywhere he looked. All of the sounds of the forest were magnified tenfold, and everyone of them were on there way to kill him. Or at least they were in his mind. He was scared out of his mind. There were noises everywhere, and all of them could be the ninjas. He decided he should get a better hiding spot, so he climbed up the tree he was leaning against. He hid in the leaves near the top of the tree, also using a larger branch for some cover. He then sat there and observed. His vision was mostly blocked, so that didn't help much at all. So he relied solely on his hearing. He waited for what seemed like hours, but really was just a few minutes, then he had an idea. He pulled a bone out that was made into a sort of spike with one flat end. He stabbed the sharp end into the tree and put his ear up against the flat end. Through this, he could listen down through the tree and into the ground without things being muffled by other sounds. And since sounds travels a lot faster through solids than through the air, any sound the ninjas made would be multiplied enough to be heard by Bane. And soon enough, there they were. They leapt from tree to tree searching for him, eventually landing on his tree. He felt them land, and got chills down his spine. They were far below him in the tree, but they were still close enough to make him nervous. He kept still and listened to them moving about, trying his best to follow where they went when they jumped somewhere. And after a little bit, the sounds stopped. They didn’t fade or anything, they just stopped. He just minutely heard a tree shaking in the background. Wait a minute, the wind isn’t blowing right now... He realized they were in the other tree, so he quickly pulled the bone out of the tree he was in and leapt to a tree that was opposite from them. He saw the tree that he was just in shake a little bit as they landed. They knew he was there. He leapt down to the ground, but through his bone into a tree farther away from them as a distraction. He then ran towards the, but on the ground. They leapt to the tree when they thought he was, as he sprinted off into the distance away from them. They found the bone and were confused. They looked around and watched the trees near by to see if he was in any of them, but after a little while they realized that they let him get away. They had no way of telling which direction he went, and he had a good head start on them. They headed home soon enough, angry with their own failure. |
