Mission Title: Infestation Removal Mission Type: Generic Mission Location: Fire Country Shinobi Requirement: Genin, Genin Team (Jounin not necessary) Mission Rank: D Mission Objective: Due to a recent accident on the part of local fishermen, a species of fish that is not native to the area has been released in the village's waterways. This needs to be addressed as the fish is known to devour the native species which are vital to the village as a source of food. A crate of these fish were released, they need to be tracked down and removed, preferably alive. Mission Time Limit: 2 weeks Min Post Count: 3 for solo missions, 2 per person for team missions After a short period of time of trekking his way from his home village over to the river that was suffering from an illness of foreign fish, the Uchiha's mood had slowly grown out of it's happy shell, as anyone would be able to guess that he was quite bored. He attempted to make the journey seem shorter by simply viewing the wonderful scenery the forests had to offer, if anything though it seemed that this only dragged the traveling on. On the other hand, he did appreciate how calm, peaceful and mesmerising the forest actually was. With all of it's colourful and scent - filled flowers out on the offer, not to mention the inhabitants of rodents and occasionally birds making their melodies heard. Indeed the forests within the Fire country were something special but he had no time to waste in simply watching the area, for his attention would have to focus on an important river in which the village actually live on. The dilemma that the village and country was faced with was that some, obviously, untrained fisherman have allowed a certain species of fish that doesn't belong within the country, to take new life within a completely new environment and they have even managed to kill off the native fish. This was undoubtedly a very idiotic mistake to make and the problem must be solved immediately if the native fish will ever have a chance at re - populating the water. Thus Konohagakure was asked to fix the wrong doings of the fishermen, which is why Kojin was there. With his high intellect he had beforehand created a plan that would cure the infection of the wild fish. What the Leaf - Ninja had theorized was if he was able to use one of the nets that the men would use, he would be able to collect bunches of fish and then pick out the species that didn't belong. It was a plan that may take some time, but it seemed full proof in his eyes. With the forest soon falling silent, all that would enter his ears would be the sound of water thrashing itself against the rocks as it to made a journey to some place. Instantly, the boy followed the sound and soon he was met with the river that was diseased with the foreign fish. Untangling himself from the vines that swept across the forest, Kojin was able to relax his senses for a short period as he would go in search for the fisherman that had caused the 'accident'. His eyes began to observe the area, left to right and repeated it several times. Kojin was somewhat confused, for he had assumed that he would be meeting up with a group of fisherman in order to assist them. Yet there was no signs of humans ever being there. Due to the clear day, he was able to peer up into the mountains where the water descended and still no person or boat was visible. It quickly became apparent that he had been stood up and left to finish all of the work! This wouldn't have been a problem for him though, in fact he would have welcomed the idea of working alone on the mission, but the reason he required the fish hunters was for their fishing equipment. Since nothing was left for him, he would now have to create a new plan in order to right the wrongs. His thoughts would rapidly begin battling against one another in order to prove which had the better plan. His imagination suggested using wire to make a temporary net in the water, but that would require far too much wiring and could potentially kill some of the native fish. Then it was suggested to simply try picking the fish out one by one with some sort of weapon, the flaw in this plan was the length of time it would take to actually catch and kill every foreign fish. It seemed the odds were against him on this one, or so he thought. Finally he had decided to use a tactic which had been taught to him when he was just a boy, a simple survival technique that required absolutely no chakra. Just strength, determination and energy. What Kojin would have to do is to pile a collection of large rocks at two points in the river, by doing so, he would have made some makeshift walls that would enclose all of the fish together. After that, it was simply easy pickings for the Uchiha and also for his pet falcon. Not having any other plan in mind, he was satisfied with what he had come up with and now began to make the plan actually happen. Scanning the river with his almost eagle - like eyes, he began calculating how deep and how wide the river actually was. The measurements had to be taken into account for he would have to understand how many rocks he would require. The width seemed to span across about two and a half metres, while the depth was only a mere seventy - five centimetres. He would have no trouble with finding the suitable materials, especially since many rocks and miniature boulders had been pushed to the banks of the river by presumably small kids playing around. Without a second to waste, the young man began darting about the river bank, collecting as many stones as possible in his arms. He was able to hold about ten rocks in each arm with a rough area of two hundred and fifty centimetres before his arms would begin to grow tired. Surprisingly the rocks seemed to show clear differences between themselves. For instance, some rocks offered a beige - brown colour with an extraordinarily smooth texture, while others had a much darker shade of brown and grey with a rough, sharp edging given on it's side. No fancy techniques were necessary for this process, for all he was doing was picking out and carrying pieces of earth. It was better for him to reserve his chakra then to waste it. When storing the many collection of rocks, he would simply toss them to the ground, around midway of the river length. After a short ten minutes he had a large museum of about one hundred rocks. They ranged from small, medium, big and large sizes. Some were picked out for their sheer size, while others were chosen for their marvelous appearance. Creating quite a bit of sweat around his body, he decided against having a break, for he wished to finish the mission as soon as possible. Removing his shoes, he also began to scrunch up his trousers to the length of his knees and thighs. Dipping a single toe within the water, he was able to clarify as to how warm the water actually was. It seemed to be just the right temperature for a swim, but that's not what he was here for. Cautiously placing both legs within the running water, he would begin to walk up and down the river so that he could investigate the population of fish.

| It was found that there was a variety of fish within the river, yet one species was easily identifiable thanks to his photographic memory. When Kojin had picked out the mission, a picture was also placed with the files showing the image of the fish that needed to be hunted down. On the image it was quite a large fish to say it's managed to survive in a river, it was about the size of three Kunai placed top to bottom, with the width only measuring to the same as the width of a small scroll. Indeed the fish was quite large in comparison but what threw the Uchiha off completely was it's appearance, a magnificent white - pearled colour scales were enveloping it's body, the rich colour seemed to set a display of lighting from the suns reflection within the water. Which fortunately for the hunter made it easily identifiable. Another notable feature was it's dorsal fin, as it was actually to the point in some cases where it managed to appear out of the water, much like a shark would when approaching prey. Concluding his information, the Konohagakure - ian, had found that the fish tended to keep themselves within the centre of the river and discovered the furthest reached seven metres down either end of the centre.
Halting himself at the collection of rocks, he would no begin the long and annoying process of transferring fifty rocks to either end of the river. When treading back on land, it was instantaneously found how warm the water was when compared to the land air, he would have much preferred to be moving the stones while in the water but that would simply scare the fish away and force them further up and down stream. With his drenched feet and legs, he began walking up from the centre until he had reached the marked seven metres. There he would simply dump the rocks into one place and go back for more. Due to the previous process of having to transport the rocks, his arms were beginning to grow tired of carrying the lumps of earth. He would either have to take a break or simply endure the pain of aching that would soon follow. Determined to follow through with the plan, he would ignore the signs of his body trying to surrender to the stones and prove himself to be the dominant one in the situation.
Within a short ten minutes, fifty rocks had been shifted from the centre to either side of the river. He was now ready to begin blocking off, what he called the entrance and exit points. Yet his endurance would not agree with him on this one occasion as he was growing far too tired. So he would now resort to common sense and allow himself to rest for a short five minute break. His almost dry legs would march their way over to a nearby tree that shaded a region of grass, there he would simply park himself by the roots of the visibly young oak tree. While doing so, Haruka had believed that was his signal to land to where his master was sitting, the tremendously - loyal bird swept down performing a nose dive to his owner, reaching an amazing speed of over one hundred miles per hour. Yet the bird somehow managed to gracefully land and perch itself upon the very tree Kojin was resting under. Not wanting to bother his feathery friend, he allowed him to rest as well, for he had been flying above him for quite some time. Surely he must have been just as exhausted as his master, that being said though birds were designed to fly for long periods of time so it could be that Haruka was simply playing lazy and wanting to rest on the tree before he would be called upon.
Adoring what nature had to offer, his hands would find their way to the rich grass and begin smothering his palms into the many blades of grass. A gentle sigh was released from his mouth as he felt as if he was in heaven, the warm radiating air that was tagged with a gentle breeze helping the ninja - at - work cool off, the songs of the birds being echoed throughout the forest and the many, many fascinating and untouched flowers that inhabited the forest. This was truly an ideal place to be. He was enjoying the area too much however, for he had a job that still needed to be completed. After having a relaxing few minutes, he placed himself back at work, starting with the upper portion of the river. Haruka watched on in curiosity as his commander would begin lifting several rocks at a time and begin placing them in the river. The shinobi's hands were acting quite skillful at the time for no error could be made. He would begin piling one rock on top of the other and occasionally leave a small gap in between the many piled stones. This was so the river he was controlling wouldn't run out of water when hunting the fight. The water that day didn't seem to have a strong enough current to knock the wall of earth over thus ruining the plans of Kojin, instead it was a calm day for the ancient river and so the first wall was constructed.
Taking several steps backwards towards land, he was able to admire his hard work with the first wall being perfectly constructed to plan. The water levels seemed to keep up with one another and the fish were unable to pass the miniature wall. Now all he had to do was perform the same task but fourteen metres the other end. Jogging over to the point of exit, he would begin shaking his arms back and forth so that they could quickly regain their average amount of blood flow. This mission was quite demanding and the young ninja was sure that there were plenty of other ways this task could have been made easier using jutsu, but he wished to prove that even without techniques a ninja can complete anything no matter what the assignment was. Reaching the last position needed, his hands were quickly back at work. This time around though, he would have to take a quieter and slower approach to the creation of the wall. As the fish tended to travel down stream much faster, they would be able to escape the trap far too easily. He was considering the possibility of using Haruka to patrol the area, yet that would only scare the fish further and cause them to swim wherever they felt was safe, instead he would simply have to take it nice and slow.
Repeating what he had performed before, his hands would discretely begin placing the rocks down one by one and of course leaving the occasional gap. His foot work was much slower then before, always considering where he was placing one foot so it wouldn't startle the fish too much. It was like treading on egg shells, wherever he stood he would have to consider where he was standing, wherever he placed a rock he would have to consider where he was placing it. It would've been far more easier if his chakra nature was of the element of earth. With the wall gradually being fully built, Kojin was finally able to wipe off the drops of sweat that were appearing throughout his entire body. He then took himself out of the river water and planted himself back where he had rest before, he was quite knackered to say the least but he had finally finished the hard part. All he would have to do now was to find and kill all of the foreign fish within the water or as he liked to call it, the fun part of the mission.

| After the approximate hour the blossoming Genin has spent at the river, it was finally time to finish the mission he had started and eradicate every foreign fish in sight. Before he could use the involvement of his faithful companion, he must first catch the fish that was their target so the bird would be able to distinguish between which fish required killing. Having absolutely no experience in fishing before apart from watching others, Kojin only had the idea of going straight in the water and catching the fish one by one. Evidently, he would have trouble catching any fish with his hands so instead he would have to create some sort of fishing tool or simply a spear to catch the fish with. That's when an idea popped into his head. Rummaging within his provided tool kit that every Genin is given, a piece of wire along with a single Kunai is retrieved from the pack. What he had planned to do was simply tie a knot with the wire in the Kunai and then throw the wired - kunai at the fish, since his body was further away from the fish they wouldn't be startled and swim away. Plus, the speed at which he would throw the kunai and the size of the fish would make it impossible for it to miss. It was a flawless technique of fishing. Threading the wire through the ring of the traditional ninja tool, his hands would maneuver themselves around a bit so that a tie knot was formed. He continued to uncoil the wire until it reached about a metre and a half in length, the rest of the wire was wrapped around his left hand so that all fingers were closely compacted together. With the quickly made fishing rod crafted, he entered the water for what he hoped would be the final time. Standing almost motionless within the centre of the river, the water now only climbed to just below the height of Kojin's knees, most likely due to the make - shift walls blocking the natural water supply. Taking the kunai and wire within his right hand, he began swinging it about in the air so that more speed and momentum could be built up when he threw it. Noticing one of the brightly coloured fish, his right arm lunged forward with the kunai targeting the fish. Due to the power he placed within the throw, he had managed to lose his balance slightly and take a small step forward. This was more then enough to alert the fish though, for it had tried to make a quick getaway only to be caught at the caudal peduncle. It was a clean cut, it went straight through the fish, yet it wasn't an area that was a kill spot, which resulted in it thrashing about in the water. Unfortunately for the fish, the kunai wouldn't come out unless a great amount of force pulled it out. Wishing to place the victim out of it's misery, the thoughtful Uchiha began pulling in the wire and lifted it upwards so that the fish would dehydrate. Slapping the dying fish onto the land, Kojin quickly joined it while also releasing a high pitched whistle for Haruka to awaken. Releasing a few bursts of air from it's area, Haruka flapped his way off of the branch and down to the location of the fish that was trying to fight it's way to the water. The winged - being began peering over the fish, observing it with as much detail as possible for he understood that he would soon have to begin hunting this creature. After several seconds, his beak spontaneously attacked the head of the fish, in doing so the fish was instantly killed off. With the image fresh in the birds mind, his leader pointed towards the river water in order for it to begin the hunting process. While the feathery creature began to take an arial view of the river all Kojin was worried about was retrieving his kunai and wire, he did not care for the life of the fish for it was never meant to be there in the first place, plus it was merely a fish and that was all it was Being given front row seats to show of Haruka attacking the defenseless fish, his hands were occupied with grass once more. He had worked hard that day and he was finally able to relax himself for a bit while his pet finished the rest of the task. It did seem fun though to be killing these fish off one by one, yet he did not wish to bother with them, purely because of their disgusting odor and their bizarre slippery scales. He was far more happier to watch his bird have fun in taking the enemy out and watch the pile of fish slowly increase in numbers. The falcons tactics were quite genius yet also natural for the bird, he would ring about the river for a short moment which allowed the fish to think they were safe and then without even a warning he would quickly dive down and snatch one of the immigrated fish. With it's powerful and sharp gabbing claws, he was able to accurately catch the fish with the neck region, thus shutting down all brain functions for the fish. Once caught it would simply deposit the body within the pile. About half an hour had passed and already Haruka had identified and killed all enemy fish. There was quite the pile of fish found in front of him, with his falcon snacking on the top of the pile. Pulling himself back up, he took a gander at the river in case any were still alive but it seemed that his falcon had performed a brilliant killing spree on the mission, resulting in the balance of nature being restored. With his work complete, he whistled for his bird once more who seemed to be carrying the one of the corpses while flying home to the village. Kojin himself would have taken one home but he couldn't bring himself to getting used to the smell that the fish gave off, instead he would look back at what he had done and grow proud of his actions that day. The hard work had truly paid off and being able to have a good rest at home would be the final reward. He pondered about destroying the two walls, he decided against it though for the native fish were able to swim through the gaps anyway and not to mention it took him quite a while to create it so he didn't wish to deconstruct it in a matter of seconds. Exit. |
