Question about Kekkei Genkai

Hey I was just wondering, and this might be mentioned in the rules but to be honest I'm not a 100% sure and as a newbie, I rather ask.

Is it possible to have a kekkei genkai, and yet not be a part of the clan? In my case I was thinking of my character having a bloodline, but his family being distant relatives, or perhaps his mother was part of a clan, but then married and changed her name. So on so forth.

Is it possible?

Or you could be an outcast. Its totally acceptable to not be "A Part" of the clan you are "A part of." If you get what I'm saying.

So it's fine to have a bloodline and not be a part of the clan, right? And no it's that I want to be an outcast of some sort.

I was instead thinking of having this great ability, but never actually having being raised by the clan, which will mean that a lot of the skills would be self-learned and rather custom.

I think you could just like make a clan for yourself, say it was extinct, and grow up without it? And just say you didn't have a clan in your history >.>

One may have a Kekkei Genkai even if they are not a member of a specific Clan, even if they are distant from some specific clan.
